It was an early start for Faelon, slinking silently out of the lab and staring at her new Squirtle's pokeball. Perhaps slightly unusually, Aqua wasn't actually her first Pokemon. Prior to reaching the lab, she had come across a set of pokeballs just abandoned on the path, and when she had inspected them she had found each contained a Pokemon. Some trainer had clearly chosen to dump them. The thought still made Faelon angry. How could anyone just leave them, especially still in their balls?
Shaking her head to clear her thoughts, she examined the pokeballs again. She knew from already checking what each one held, and she was determined to look after them better than their previous trainer had. The only issue was... how? Her only experience in life was through stealing, and then always with her old partner, Todd. Maybe these Pokemon could help her... she hoped so, at least.

Dust blew all around as Faelon began her journey. With this dust and wind it was no surprise that she did not see many pokemon on the route. As she continues down the path a young trainer notices her and runs up to her. Hi there my name is Joey I just became a pokemon trainer. You look like you are also new. So from one new person to another I challenge you to a battle. You will find that my poke is a top percent compared to all pokemon like him go Rattata let's win this battle and start our journey off right.
Youngster Joey has challenged you to a battle. He sends out his lv 5 Rattata. What will you do?

The dust made Faelon cough, and she closed her eyes briefly to protect against it. When she opened them again, she saw the approaching trainer and narrowed her eyes cautiously. She was more used to people approaching with hostility than friendliness; thieves were rarely welcome. But here, she remembered, she wasn't known as a thief. She was just another, anonymous trainer setting out on her journey.
With that in mind, she nodded briefly in response to the challenge. "In that case, I'll send out my Squirtle!" she decided, sending Aqua out as she spoke. "Aqua, do your best! Use water gun!"
Faelon has sent out Aqua (Squirtle)! Aqua uses Water Gun!

Joey was many things, the brightest of children wasn't one of them. Oh the kid was precocious, no doubt, using a big word like Percent like he knew what it really meant. Sadly for Joey, the Top Percent of a sample is usually the 'wider group' of something, unlike the Top Percentile, effectively the smallest sample of something. Therefore: he claims his Rattata is even lesser than the average Rattata. But alas we're here for a battle and not a lesson on why Joey is a disgrace to Rattatas. With that in mind, Joey would toss out his Pokeball, revealing the appearance of Rattata as he had promised! He began to run in place with his arms curled to his chest in excitement he was getting to battle! "Okay Rattata, let's uhh... use an attack!?" Joey said, Rattata looking over its shoulder like it was asking 'WHAT ATTACK!?' only to be hit with the Water Gun, skidding across the ground from the hit before it scurried back to its feet, squeaking in agitation. "Oh dangit, sorry Rattata... uhh... basic move basic move..." Joey proceeded to flip through a manual on Pokemon he had always studied as a child, looking for Rattata's move list. "Ooh, this sounds like it'd hurt. Use Tail Whip!" Rattata huffed a breath and ran forwards, turning around it bapped the squirtle on the head with its tail, which resulted in a moment of stillness from most everyone involved before Joey flipped the book to see what Tail whip did. "IT DOESN'T DO DAMAGE!? NOOOO!" Wild Encounter Weather: Sandstorm [attr="class","qkt-bkgd"] [attr="class","qkt-wild-pkmn"] Joey's Rattata LV 5 HP 70% [12/19]

A kinder person might have offered help or advice to the young trainer, especially since she had some experience around Pokemon. But Faelan was not such a person. She wanted to win this battle, to prove to herself she'd made the right choice coming here and starting a new journey, and it was without hesitation that she gave her next order to Aqua.
"Another water gun, Aqua! Don't let up!" Her Squirtle obeyed, looking almost sorry for the Rattata as he let loose another burst of water at the purple rat. But not sorry enough; like Faelon, he wanted to win this battle, and he wasn't about to let sympathy let him down.

Almost like Deja Vu, the Sand storm was gone, and replaced by Balmy weather. Seems Johto was going through a weather identity crisis! It was almost like Meteorologists were only right for an hour or so out of the season! Joey thought maybe, just maybe, this was his opportunity! With no sand in the way maybe he could win! Okay Rattata, let's do this! This Tackle move sounds so much better than a Quick Attack!" Joey called out. The Rattata, knowing its own abilities better than its trainer it appeared, simply once again looked over its shoulder, glaring like it wanted to strangle the boy. In fact it turned around and starting hopping on spot, squeaking angrily at Joey! "Eh? Rattata what's wrong! Just use Tackle!"There was a long, loooong growl from the Rattata, as though it had learned the move. It turned around and rushed at the Squirtle, proceeding to smash up against it with the back of its head in a tackle attack. And then, once the Squirtle recovered, the Rattata was caught in a point blank stream of water from the opposing Squirtle that launched it hard and fast, right into its trainer! Joey let out an 'ACK!' as contact was made, knocking him off his feet and onto his back, knocked himself unconscious. Indeed, no sympathy was had.
