Silas returned to the park for the contest he read about on the board. He was armed with an otherwise useless lump of a mushroom. Parasect were not strong nor fast pokemon. But what they could do well was one thing. Put things to sleep. In a contest where the objective was to catch things without doing damage to them, spore was a most potent tool. Of course, some insects here were part grass, and that would be a nuisance. But he did not have aims for them. Not when rarely things were potentially on the table...
Thus he set out into the grass to search for something rare to catch.

As Silas tromped through the grass, looking for a big and impressive pinsir or something powerful to catch for lots of points, he stumbled across a whole pack of wriggling blipbug that were clustered together. They scattered at the sight of him, but he noticed one looked a little off colored. Well well well. A shiny. He did not think he would find such a rare little treat out here. However, he was a touch conflicted. Off colors were not worth more points, however, he could feasibly sell this creature for good money to the right collector.
Well, he could cross that proverbial bridge later.
For now...
"Parasect, use spore."
Then he would throw a ball.

Silas watched as the blipbug fell asleep and was swiftly captured by the capsule he threw. Hm. Perfect. A pity he could only keep one pokemon. If he found something of greater interest and note, then he might have to surrender this possible payday. WIth that in mind, he scooped the ball and started to look for the next possible pokemon to catch, parasect scuttling at his heels. Where oh where were you potential jackpot? Would he leave here with a bluish blipbug or would something else leap out and wow him? (Then again, it was possible he was plagued by caterpies and bedrill so...)

Silas did not even notice the little nymble in the grass. Idly, with his hands in his pockets, he walked by, leaving the wary little cricket unbothered. That meant, swift as a ninja, it could hop its way back into the shadows and vanish from sight, unbothered and ready to escape. Maybe someone else would snare it in a ball and take it home. Or perhaps it would remain unseen. But right now, it was free to continue on its buggy way. Silas was, perhaps, too invested in finding something impressive or rare and showy over paying attention to the tiny bug.

Bedrill was arguably more valuable if he was looking to win this contest, but in terms of after contest value? Not so much. He could go kick grass around Cherrygrove and find a weedle and evolve his own bedrill if he so desired one. So with caution and a great deal of respect for the angry yellow jacket that glared at him with seething fury...Silas ran like hell. Swearing. And when he could manage it, he flung himself into the tall grass to escape. Nope. Not today! So undignified!
It was here he sat until the bedrill got bored of menacing him.

Well well well. As unique and valuable as a shiny blipbug could be, its value paled in comparison to something this arguably rare. Silas knew that Shelmet weren't quite as coveted as scyther or pinsir, but this was a fine find indeed! The market had to be better for such a pokemon. Even if the blipbug had an unusual color, it was fairly common to find at this park during the bug catching contest and it wasn't especially useful or strong. But shelmet...that actually had REAL potential. Perfect.

The ball struck once and fell still. Perfect. Silas went over and picked up the ball. He would release the blipbug...later. Once somebody 'reminded' him that he needed to do so. Silas would take his new shelmet with him as he continued searching for a final possible mark. He did not have much longer to look before he was herded out. They were only allowed so many encounters after all. They did not want people hunting the grass for hours on end for the rarest of the rare pokemon.

Well that kickable pest wasn't worth the effort. He would be keeping this shelmet for his final choice. Silas strode past the scatterbug, parasect at his heels. He would make his way to the exit of the park so he could submit his catch for judgement. He wasn't expecting to place, but the shelmet was valuable enough in itself. He would go find some place to sit down to wait for others to filter in and the judging to start. He crossed his arms and leaned back once he did, unhurried and unbothered by needing to wait.
