It was early in the morning and through the open drapes in his bedroom, light was pouring through Shiroyasha's window. He had purposefully left his drapes open so that he would be awoken by the glorious light of a sunrise in New Bark Town. Today was a big day for Shiroyasha, he was slated to head to Professor Elm's laboratory to pick up his first Pokemon. Shiroyasha had worked hard to aquire enough money to invest in a starter Pokemon. He was definitely excited and arose from his bed as cheerful as ever, wearing nothing but a pair of scarlet red boxer-briefs.
Familiar with the residents of New Bark Town, Shiro had known of the Professor his entire life, but, at that age, he was more interested in battling Pokemon than breeding them, so Elm's research never really drew Shiroyasha in. As he would get older though, and his mind matured to the grand scheme of things, Shiroyasha became determined in helping Elm with his research like the other kids in New Bark Town. He had always desired to fight Team Rocket with a team of Pokemon, it was his greatest dream, but now he yearned for more than just that. Shiroyasha wanted to learn about his friends, the Pokemon, and watch them grow and evolve around him. As the years passed by him, waiting for his turn to get a starter Pokemon, Shiroyasha's resolve to become a great trainer became the sole focus of his every day.
Climbing out of bed in his skivvies, Shiroyasha yawned and stretched his long arms out. He got up from his bed and casually traipsed over to his dresser where he kept his pants folded neatly. Shiro grabbed a pair of black track pants and slipped them on. He rolled the pant legs up to his knee, then rummaged through another drawer for a pair of black socks. He couldn't find his favorite, lucky pair of socks, they must have been dirty, so he grabbed another pair that had a white star knitted into the part that covered the ankle. Once he was fit to walk around the house, Shiroyasha headed to the kitchen to find something for breakfast.
After scarfing down a scrumptious bowl of cereal, Shiroyasha headed back to his room and finished getting dressed. He put on a yellow muscle shirt, and a black wind breaker over top of that. The windbreaker had all sorts of pins stuck to it, Shiroyasha's personal treasures, but today he would begin a new adventure. He looked at his pins, wondering how long it would take to get a badge stuck onto that black windbreaker.
Once he was dressed Shiroyasha peeped into his mom and dad's room. They were sleeping, and he didn't want to wake them, so he simply whispered, "I love you," and closed their door. Quickly, Shiro scampered downstairs and headed out the front door with his backpack full of supplies, ready to meet Professor Elm at 8 in the morning.
Strolling through town was always fun for Shiroyasha. He had lots of Pokemon friends that would walk with him and entertain the hopefully Pokemon fan. On this particular journey there was a flock of Pidgey's following Shiroyasha. Fortunately for the bird Pokemon, Shiroyasha had brought some corn with him to feed the Pokemon. He worked at a local hardware shop and made a meager earnings, but he spent it on what mattered most to him, feeding the Pokemon of New Bark Town. As he walked over to PRofessor Elm's lab, Shiroyasha tossed corn to the friendly Pidgey that were swooping around him.
It was nearly eight o clock in the morning when Shiroyasha turned the Professor's door knob and entered into the room where he would pick his starter Pokemon. Elm was sitting at a desk in the back corner of the room, reading the computer screen through his thick spectacles.
"Ah, Shiroyasha! Welcome to the lab." Elm said to the young man who had just entered his workshop. The Professor stood up from his desk and walked over to Shiroyasha. Shiro was a little taller than Elm, but they looked at each other eye to eye, both of them smiling wildly. Elm was excited to give Shiro a Pokemon, and Shiro was more than thrilled to recieve one. "So! Here we are. The beginning of your Pokemon journey. Now, before I present you with your options, I want to make a few things clear. I am sure you understand most of this, but it is my responsibility to ensure all of the trainers who receive a Pokemon through the Research Grant are instructed properly." Elm adjusted his glasses and looked more seriously into Shiroyasha's eyes.
"Alright so. First thing is first, Pokemon are our friends. We don't use Pokemon for nefarious goals, we don't abuse Pokemon, we maintain a safe environment for native species, and most of all, we don't use Pokemon for nefarious gold. Am I clear Shiroyasha?" Elm stuck his hand out for the boy to shake on the agreement that he not be an irreprehensible youth with the Pokemon he was about to receive.
With his smile slowly fading as Elm made clear what was to be of the Pokemon he was about to receive, Shiroyasha got very serious. His eyebrow furrowed and he nodded furiously as Professor Elm spoke. "Yes sir!" Shiroyasha said and stuck his hand into Elm's. They both shook their hand together and nodded at the same time. It was clear what Elm expected of Shiroyasha, but there was no need to worry. Shiroyasha was a law and order kind of guy. He didn't believe in causing a ruckus, or hurting Pokemon. Shiroyasha sought justice for his fathers death. He aimed to train this Pokemon to be a weapon of virtue. He agreed solemnly to Elm's laws.
Professor Elm led Shiroyasha deeper into his laboratory. There were all sorts of machines and computers lining the wall, and in the middle of the room was a Pokemon Restoration Device. Shiroyasha was familiar with the device. PRofessor Elm had often stopped at the hardware store he worked at to buy 10 millimeter sockets. Elm or his assistants would go on and o nabout fixing this machine. It was, apparently, a very fickle device that required constant calibration. Shiroyasha stared at it as he walked by.
"Ah, I see you remember. Let's hurry though, Shiroyasha. I have much work to be done today, and that includes calibrating the PRD." Professor Elm said to Shiroyasha and then opened the door they were standing before.
Inside ethe room was a bunch of tables with poke balls store in special boxes. They were all labeled by species and there were quite a few varieties. Some that Shiroyasha had never even heard of. He stared into the room for second before entering, and Elm coughed loudly. "Yes, let's hurry." Elm said and led Shiroyasha to a table.
On the table were three glass boxes with fully enlarged poke balls resting inside. Each one had a colored gem stone encrusted into the center button. Blue for water, green for grass, and red for fire. Shiroyasha stared at all of the poke balls for a long moment, and then Elm coughed once more and began talking.
"Very well Shiroyasha. You see three poke balls before you. Usually I have three Johto specific species to give you, but breeding has been unsuccessful recently and we are looking for several sires. So! I have three Kanto exclusive Pokemon! Even more rare! Bulbasaur, Charmander and Squirtle are up for you to choose from. Choose carefully, as this Pokemon will grow to respect you unlike any of your other Pokemon. This Pokemon will learn everything about humans from you, be sure to treat it well! Now, choose!" Elm gave Shiroyasha a big thumbs up.
"Well, I was born in March so I'm an aries. I should pick a fire type Pokemon to be my partner!" Shiroyasha thought to himself and reached his hand toward the middle poke ball. He grasped his hands around it and plucked it from the crystal box. "Charmander, I choose you." Shiroyasha smiled brightly and turned back around to Elm. "I'm going to name him Amidamaru." Shiroyasha held the poke ball straight out, smiling wildly.
"Very nice, good choice. Shiroyasha, today marks the beginning of the rest of your life. I trust you to make the right decisions and treat your Pokemon well." Elm ushered Shiroyasha out of the Pokemon Storage room.
Walking through the laboratory, Elm led Shiroyasha t another storage room, this one was filled with Poke supplies. "I will put together a starter's kit for you. The essentials. Now, open up your bag." Elm was smiling wickedly. He loved giving the trainers some items. Elm was all about helping people save money, and this was the perfect scenario for helping a novice save a buck. Elm threw all sorts of items into Shiroyasha's backpack, poke balls, full heals, revives, and more than anything, potions. Shiro's bag was a good pound heavier when they left the Item Storage room.
Walking Shiroyasha back outside of his lab and to the room he had started in, Elm was mostly quiet. The middle aged researcher was excited for Shiroyasha, but he wanted to let the boy stew in it for a moment. He didn't want to give the boy a man made impression. This was about Pokemon, after all!
With a few short words for a goodbye, Elm left Shiroyasha back at the front door. The Professors job was done and now it was up to Shiroyasha to make the most of his Pokemon journey.
With his first step outside, Shiroyasha was suddenly compelled to release his Pokemon. "I bet you don't wanna be locked up, do you Amidamaru?" Shiro thought to himself and held his Pokemon ball out. The red crystals embedded in the button shined in the sun, and Shiro pushed the button. The poke ball made the first noise that Shiro would remember for the rest of his life, and out of a red energy beam, the Charmander formed on the ground next to Shiroyasha.
The Charmander that Shiroyasha had picked was a fine example of the species. It had long arms, and a long orange tail that was lit with it's eternal flame. Amidamaru had fearsome fangs sticking out of his jaw, and big, bright, blue eyes. Amidamaru was a fine Pokemon.
"Alright! You're cool as hell, Amidamaru!" The starter Pokemon folded it's arms together and looked off into the sky. "Char." Amidamaru grunted and flicked it's tail through the air, it's flame trailing behind it mystically. Shiroyasha stared longingly at Amidamaru, the thrill of being so close to his own Pokemon warming his heart like a campfire on your toes.
"Alright bro, let's go show mom and dad how sharp you are." Shiroyasha took a step forward. The Charmander didn't move. Instead it hissed at Shiroyasha and spat flames out at his legs. "Yowch! Amidamaru! What's your deal?!" Shiroyasha turned around to shock and horror.
Amidamaru was bent over with his claws spreading his ass cheeks. The Charmander farted and shot out a blast of fire at Shiroyasha. After scorching his owner, Amidamaru pulled down his eyelid with his claw and stuck his tongue out at Shiroyasha. "Plebbbbt!" Amidamaru taunted his owner, then he turned back around to face Shiroyasha.
All burnt up from the neck up, Shiroyasha was pretty frustrated with his Pokemon. He didn't know why Amidamaru refused to walk with him, but the fart was just ridiculous. Wiping off the char from his face, Shiroyasha grunted. "Listen, Amidamaru. You gotta follow me, I'm your caretaker. We need each other. You are going to help me take down Team Rocket. Please, let's work together, bro." Shiroyasha folded his hands together, pleading with his Charmander.
Not impressed with Shiroyasha's begging, Amidamaru folded his arms back up and looked into the sky again. The Charmander was thinking about what Shiroyasha had said. Amidamaru had always considered himself righteous, but the Pokemon never sought to work together with a human. Amidamaru saw Pokemon as the leading force on Earth. He would never stoop below his kind and work with a stinky, ugly, stupid, little human. Amidamaru hissed at Shiroyasha. "Get back human!" Amidamaru said to his owner.
Shiroyasha didn't know what to do, his Pokemon was obstinant an dbegging didn't work. He had no other choice but to withdraw his Pokemon back into it's ball. Amidamaru was anraged by this, and a he was drawn back into the capsule, the Charmander began shooting as hot of flames as it's rage could muster.
Disappointed with with this showing, Shiroyasha begrudgingly walked back home to tell his parents about his hard headed Pokemon.
Sitting at the table with his mom and dad, Shiroyasha had his poke ball sitting on the table. He was pretty disappointed, but the tinge of excitement from earlier still stained his smile. Shiroyasha was proud to have his Pokemon, and he planned on making Amidamaru his best friend. "If only I could reach him somehow, Mom. He didn't want to hear anything I had to say. What should I do?" Shiroyasha was hanging his head, he felt defeated.
"Well, son. It sounds like Amidamaru requires a high level of respect before he will listen to you. He probably sees you as a prey item. You need to show him you are a master leader." Shiroyasha's father told his boy. Shiroyasha's mother was nodding her head in agreement, and said. "Amidamaru doesn't know you Shiro. You need to establish boundaries with him. Take him out into the wild. Show him your idea of a good time. I know you want to earn the gym badges, why don't you get into your first fight?" Shiroyasha's mother picked up Amidamaru's ball and stuck it out for Shiro to grab. "Now go," she said.
After walking for a short while down Route 29, Shiroyasha would be met with some excitement. Amidamaru was still in it's Pokeball, waiting to unleash his fury on Shiroyasha, but it would seem that fate had another challenge in store for the fresh, new trainer.
Familiar with the residents of New Bark Town, Shiro had known of the Professor his entire life, but, at that age, he was more interested in battling Pokemon than breeding them, so Elm's research never really drew Shiroyasha in.
