After earning her first gym badge and taking down Sprout Tower, Essence felt even more prepared to hunt down members of Team Rocket, hopeful that she will be able to reconnect with them. During her stay at the Pokémon Center, she overheard an elder gentleman make mention of a shady individual being seen roaming around the city. She assumes that the mysterious character could be potentially linked to Team Rocket. She had reached out to Crow to give him a heads up. Luckily, he just so happens to be close by and he agreed to meet up with her in Violet City. The two former Team Rocket members had made a promise to work together to track down organization, rejoin them, then work their way back up the ranks. If there is anyone that Essence deems worthy of being trusted it is Crow. Despite the two of them often headbutting each other, the two of them make quite the duo.
Essence made her exit out of the Pokémon Center and inside of the raging sandstorm. Luckily, her expensive sunglasses are more than enough to protect her chocolate brown eyes from dust particles whipping around her. Annoying. The weather in Johto is Goldbat-crazy in her opinion. A couple of weeks ago it felt like there was a never-ending thunderstorm taking over Violet City and now there is sandstorm! What's next a blizzard?
Essence braved the dust storm, making her way to the location that Crow and she agreed to meet up for their reunion. She rested her backside against a rather large tree as she swipes through her Rotom Phone to see if any rare Pokémon are spawning around her as she waits for Crow to arrive. Hopefully, he will not keep her waiting for too much longer

Crow had been staying in a cheap motel on Route 36 ever since his return from the famed Bug Catching Contest at Goldenrod National Park. Since... Breeze did that to him. He hadn't let her out of her Poké Ball since. There was no point. He didn't know how to punish such insolence; how could he? This was the very first time in his life that his Pokémon dared to lay a claw on him, let alone disfigure him this way. All he could think about was enacting a good old "eye for an eye" rule - breaking her wings, tearing her feathers off, causing her as much pain as she did to him. But that would render her useless for a very long time.
The ex-Rocket glanced at his Rotom. Even in its Rotom-Phone form, it was still capable of delivering a significant shock attack. Hmmm...
Suddenly, the Rotom rang.
- BozzZZz! EzZzence texzzZted! - Trojan called out excitedly, showing the message. Some shady guy was seen in the area and could be part of Team Rocket, huh? About time they started getting back into the swing of things. Crow glibly typed a swift reply, letting her know he was nearby and able to meet up. Before he headed out, however...
The trainer went into the bathroom, taking off his shades and assessing how bad things were. The right side of his face was hardly more than a mangled mess of stitches and bruising. The cloudy eye, still in its place by some miracle, refused to open more than halfway due to the damage, and he had little faith it would get any better after the wounds scarred. He didn't have enough time to heal and try to mask the scars, so they were still painfully obvious. He slid the shades back on his nose. They barely hid anything, the nasty wounds spilling from under them all the way to his jaw. There was no way around it - the best Crow could hope was not to draw too much attention to it and hope questions weren't asked.
With a sigh, he left the bathroom and grabbed his hoodie with Zephyr Badge pinned to it. He knew he needed to focus on the task at hand. There would be time to deal with Breeze later. Right then, he had to find this shady guy and figure out what was going on with Team Rocket. As he stepped out of the motel room, a strong dusty gust hit his face, stinging his wounds. Ignoring the pain, he set off down the route into the City, desperate to regain some semblance of control.
The former Rocket Admin walked the empty alleys and corners, hoping to catch a glimpse of a mysterious person. The hideous weather drove people indoors, leaving the streets deserted. He wondered what a Grunt could possibly want to do in the dust storm, with nobody to recruit wandering the streets.
Soon, Crow walked upon Essence at their meeting place. She was leaning against a tree, browsing her phone.
- Can't get your eyes off your phone, magpie? - he jested, forcing a smug grin. - This better be worth going out in such weather, you know. We could have met in Pokémon Centre. - he added less humorously, shielding his face from the sands with his arm.

The ongoing sandstorm had made finding any new recruits for Team Rocket a very hard task but Bob was determined to find someone to add to the ranks to get a fat bonus for his efforts. He had already planned out the mission perfectly he just had to find one or two desperate people willing to join the ranks of Team Rocket to help him complete his heist and the bonus would be his for the taking. As he walked along the dust covered streets he tried to light a cigarette to calm his nerves as he knew few intelligent people would be out in such nasty weather. Just when he thought his luck had run out he saw two people standing near one another and decided to try his luck as he approached the pair. " Why hello there you two, this weather is not for the feint of heart and I have an offer any strong trainer would be crazy to refuse. I have a certain mission that needs taking care of and I could use some help if you two are interested." He then tried to light his cigarette again but the blowing sand made it too hard to keep a flame going and he quickly tossed the tobacco filled stick and his lighter on the ground in frustration before stomping on both. " I do apologize for losing my nerve there, it is so hard to find competent help these days. It is not often Team Rocket sends me out in the middle of a sandstorm to bolster our ranks but here I am. I cannot say too much about the task at hand but if you help me out I do believe you two would make great additions to the team. On the other hand if you refuse you already know too much and I will have to send you both on a long walk off a short pier." After pausing to nearly hack up a lung from years of his smoking habit he looked at both Essence and Crow with an emotionless stare for a moment before asking for their commitment. " So what do you say, will you help me out?" He said before tossing two Pokeballs containing a ZUuat and a Ekans on the ground ready for a fight if either refused his generous offer. |

Essence rolled her eyes the second her heard her partner in crime approach her and teased her about being on her device. "What else is a lady to do when she is waiting for a Slowpoke to arrive on the scene? Thankfully, I am not in any serious danger or anything," she replied back to him, her dark brown eyes glaring through her dark sunglasses to take in the sight of Crow. "And who in the hell did you get in a fight with, Crow? From the looks of it whoever it was put up a good fight," she pointed out, lowering her sunglasses down the bridge of her nose for a bit before pushing them back up in order to protect them from the annoying sandstorm. "And why would we meet up at the Pokémon Center to discuss Team Rocket business? It's more private out here." She responded to his previous comment.
Essence prepared to make another teasing comment at Crow, but her thoughts were soon interrupted by a shady figuring approaching them. A pleasing smirk curved against the corners of her lips as she took a few seconds to glance over the guy, then shifted her attention towards Crow. "I knew it." She told him, flashing him with a cunning smirk. "Well, that did not take us long. We have received word that a suspicious character has been seen wondering around the city and I knew that it had to be Team Rocket. I just did not know that it would be this easy to find you," she told the grunt. Usually, she would have been offended that someone from Team Rocket did not recognize her right away, but this guy is only a mere grunt. No one of any importance. Yes, Essence and Crow could tell the grunt that the two of them were once connected to Team Rocket a while back, but would he even believe them? Probably not.
Essence chuckled at his "threatening" words as her dark brown eyes shifted towards his Pokémon. "Do you honestly believe that you would be able to intimidate someone like with those weaklings? Goodness, you really are a grunt, huh? Luckily for you... We've been hoping to find Team Rocket and connect with them. So, there is no need for us to waste time battling each other. Now, tell us... What is it that we can do for you?" She asked, folding her arms underneath her chest.

Ex-Admin crossed his arms over his chest, a touch of irritation flickering across his face at Essence's mention of his new wounds. He had anticipated this topic coming up. Carefully choosing his words, he sought to quickly steer the conversation away.
- It was just an accident at work. Nothing serious. - Crow mumbled, hoping to end the discussion there. However, the mention of his wounds reminded him of the recent Bug Catching Contest. His expression softened slightly as he remembered. - Ah, I almost forgot! - he began, a small, genuine smile tugging at the corners of his lips. - Congratulations on getting second place in Goldenrod. Arceus only knows what it was about that snail that impressed the judges so much. - he chuckled lightly, the playful jab in his tone indicating his friendly teasing.
Soon, a Rocket grunt approached them, babbling something about an offer they couldn't refuse. Trainer's expression shifted to one of harsh displeasure. No words could truly capture how much he detested being addressed with such disrespect by his subordinates, especially as idiotic as the one who tries smoking in the middle of a sandstorm. Nevertheless, he knew that they both needed this fool to reintegrate into the groove of Team Rocket.
Trainer turned to Essence, his eyes narrowing as he spoke slowly and deliberately.
- He clearly doesn't know who he's speaking to. - his gaze was intense, almost boring holes into the grunt who had interrupted them.
He took a step closer to the grunt, his presence imposing.
- Listen carefully. - he began, his voice cold and commanding. - You'd best hide those wet noodles you call Pokémon and get straight to the point. Tell us what needs doing, and we'll handle it. In return, you stay out of our way and don't hinder our job. Do we have a deal? - Crow waited for the response. He knew that asserting his authority was crucial in moments like this, ensuring that respect was maintained and their mission could proceed without unnecessary complications.

Bob eyed the two trainers before him and snorted. Were they really talking down to a member of Team Rocket? Who did they think they were? He shook his head and tugged at his hat, eyes rolling in annoyance. Fresh recruits often had egos that needed deflated before they could be formed into useful members of the organization. They came in, big ideas and hot shots in battle after a badge or two, not realizing that they'd be stuck at the bottom of the totem pole for a while if they didn't learn to sit down, shut up and take orders. "Good to hear you two are so eager to help," he grit out, smiling despite the sand whipping around them, preventing him from lighting a much needed cig. A smoke would ease his irritated nerves. "This way then~" He guided the pair to a truck, the kind you would use for moving furniture and the like, unmarked save for some generic branding from the maker. When they arrived, he quite literally would push them into the back and shut the door, slamming it down and locking them inside. He would then wander to the front cabin, happy as could be, and settle into the driver's seat. There he could finally light up and explain the mission at hand. "So, he's the scoop, friendos," he drawled, starting the truck. "There's a pokemon center downtown with a special capsule of biohazardous material that they are keeping all locked down and safe in the back as they wait for some folks in white coats to come take it away. Your job is to get in, grab it and get out. Take care of anyone who gets in your way, but try to avoid casualties. If you're too slow or too messy, I'll have to leave your butts there. Capiche? Capiche. Now, let's get goin'."

"Accident at work? You really do take me as a fool, don't you? Tsk. I won't pester you about it this time," she responded back to him. Besides, the two of them have more pressing business to take care of at the moment. "Thank you. Perhaps, the next time you to follow my lead and caught one, too. Who knows, you might actually score some points then," she teased him as a few soft giggles escaped from her mouth. It was good to know that them could engage in some harmless banter without upsetting the other person.
Essence raised her eyebrows as she watched Crow's interaction with the Team Rocket Grunt. It seems that her partner didn't take to kind to his little "threat" either. The Team Rocket Grunt should feel quite luckily that both Crow and her decided not to act out in violence. She chuckled as she continued to enjoy the entertainment happening right before her eyes. "Yeah, you heard it. It will be in your best interest not to ever talk to us like that again, Grunt. Or else we will make sure that you regret it," she informed him in a more serious tone.
Essence's dark brown eyes shifted over towards Crow for a few seconds after the Team Rocket Grunt instructed them to follow behind him. She gave Crow a quick head nod before following behind him. Essence eyed the suspicious vehicle for moment or two. "Hey! You better not be trying any funny business!" She warned him right before he managed to shove them both inside of the van and locked them inside. Several curse words stormed out of her mouth as her body made contact with the cold, hard floor of the van. "You're really starting to piss me off! You better hop that I find some peace along the way or else I promise I am going to make sure that your face tastes the concrete!" She shouted at him. She then glances over at Crow, remembering his current condition. "Hey! Are you okay, Scar face?" she asked him, showing some concern.
"We're not your freakin' friends!" Essence hissed, taking her fist and slamming it against the small window that gives them a view of the Team Rocket Grunt. "Seriously, that's it? You couldn't complete this mission yourself? Pathetic!" She laughed and shook her head. "But whatever. We will handle it."

Crow reluctantly glanced at Essence before following the grunt. Whatever small job the grunt had in mind was clearly beyond his capabilities, but having worked with low-ranking Rockets for several years in Hoenn, Crow knew it didn't take much to overwhelm those idiots. At the very least, the sandstorm was gradually dying down, with fog rising in its stead. The weather in Johto was certainly wild and unpredictable.
The eccentric Rocket led them to the back of his truck, which was wide open and... empty. Alarm bells immediately went off in Crow's head. Before he could react, the grunt suddenly shoved both him and Essence inside, slamming the doors shut and locking them in. The trainer cursed loudly as he hit the floor of the truck hard, his sunglasses flying off his nose. The shock quickly turned to fury. Being outplayed by a lowlife like that was infuriating, especially for someone of his experience.
Seething with anger, Crow jumped back to his feet, pounding on the truck's metal doors with his fists.
- You mother[beeper]! - he snarled, his voice echoing in the confined space. - You better explain yourself, or you're gonna regret this! - his growl was followed by a powerful kick to the doors, the sound reverberating through the vehicle. Essence seemed none too pleased with the situation either, giving the grunt a piece of her mind as well.
Crow's sharp reddish glare snapped back to Essence as she inquired about his wellbeing.
- No, I'm not okay! - he spat through clenched teeth, snatching his sunglasses off the floor and shoving them back onto his face. - That son of a taint just herded us like cattle! Us! - he turned his fury back to the doors, shouting. - I’m an ADMIN, you jagoff!
His rage was palpable, his fists still itching to pound on the metal again. But before he could act, the grunt’s voice rang from where the driver's seat would be.
- That’s IT? - Crow shouted, his voice thick with anger and disbelief. - All of this for stealing some trash from a Pokémon Centre? You useless prick! - his fury only grew as the realization sank in - packed like sardines in the back of a truck, not for some high-stakes mission, but for gruntwork. The indignity of it all was almost too much to bear. Being treated like some rookie, with no regard for his experience or status, was a slap in the face.
Crow could feel his blood boiling, his pride wounded beyond measure.
- When we're done with this... - he muttered darkly, more to himself than to anyone else, - That grunt is going to wish he’d never crossed me.

"The Pokemon Center is quite guarded and there's only a small window where we can pull this off. Also, like, why don't you try asking the admins what they're doing with the hazardous material? I had the same question! Well, we don't have much time, so we better start going now. Get in the back of the truck and don't make too much noise." He spoke as he lifted the backside of the truck open, revealing quite a lot of room for the two trainers to hide in. Once they settled in, he didn't fully locked the semitrailer. He quickly got into the truck and sped through the drive into downtown, making sharp turns here and there, scaring off peaceful local wild Pokemon along the way as they growled and cried to get out of the truck's way before they get sent to another world as a protagonist with power granted by that world's gods. Then, suddenly there were the sound of glass shattering as the truck slammed into a sharp brake. The grunt Bob wasted no time and shouted, "Now! Now! Open the door and go!" He hollered at the two, and if they take too long, he would have to open the semitrailer's door himself. Then, once they're gone, he would steer the truck away into somewhere to hide, as the commotion would likely caused attention toward the scene. The duo should have enough time to locate the Pathology Department and to grab the container, but their exit would now be blocked by the two officers who had arrived to the scene. "Ahh... What the heck! I was watching the game!" The larger officer stopped from his panting run, watching the scene in horror as his peaceful night shift was ruined. "Wow." The leaner officer commented, who's still more serious in his job. "The criminals couldn't be too far. They must be after something in this small Pokemon Center. Let's keep an eye out!" The two officers sent out their canine Pokemon to help sniff out the criminals and have additional eyes. It looked like the two's return trip won't be without a fight!

As expected, the grunt's actions towards them also set Crow off, too. It is hard to believe, but his temperament may be worse than her own. She sighed and shook her head at Crow's respond to her previous question. She did not take it personal at all. In fact, she understands his frustration quite well. However, she also understands that there is nothing either of them can do to the grunt at this moment.
"You were an admin. Clearly, no one cares to respect it," she told him, shrugging her shoulders at him. Similar, she cannot prefer to herself as the head scientist anymore. "The faster we can finish this mission the quicker we will be able to climb back up the later. I hate to admit this right now, but we can't let this piece of trash distract us from our goal... Remember the promise we made each other," she added, resting her backside against the wall of the vehicle.
Not only is this grunt short a few brain cells, but he is also a terrible driver, too. Essence hissed underneath her breath as she attempted to plant her feet against the floor to prevent herself from crashing into Crow or even worst one of the cold walls. Luckily, the ride was not too long. Essence walked towards the door, kicking it open and not even bothering to care if the door makes contact with the grunt's face or not. She swiftly jumped from the vehicle, then straighten out her clothes before taking a quick glance around her surroundings. "Let's go!" She told Crow, rushing inside of the building and locating the containers. So far, so good.
But all good things cannot last forever, right? Essence frowns as she notices the two Pokémon blocking their exit. "Ugh, we don't have time for this!" She takes a Poke Ball from around her waist, releasing her Poliwag. "Water Gun!"
Essence sends out Poliwag.

Crow let out a frustrated sigh, his irritation evident as he begrudgingly admitted to Essence,
- I hate when you're right. - his mood was still sour - he couldn't shake the idea that these lowly grunts were treating him like some joke, as if his former position meant nothing. He clenched his fists, feeling the weight of his frustration. After everything he'd done, this was how they treated him? It only fueled his ambition to take over and whip the organization into shape.
The ride was far from smooth, and every sharp turn of the truck sent them tumbling around. Crow held on for dear life, cursing the reckless driver under his breath.
- Found his licence in a bag of crisps, no doubt. - he muttered, barely managing to avoid being thrown into Essence as they were jostled around in the back.
When the truck finally screeched to a halt, they sprang into action. Essence kicked open the doors, rushing out with Crow close behind, already calculating the best way to handle this mission. As they approached the Pathology Department, Crow's mind raced. Which Pokémon would give them the upper hand? And how could he craft a villainous speech that would strike fear into the hearts of anyone who dared stand in their way? But before he could deliver an obnoxiously cocky "this is a robbery" line, two police officers blocked their only way out, accompanied by their dog-like Pokémon.
Crow scoffed, his disappointment clear.
- Dogs, already? - he said, rolling his eyes. - Well, how about we see what you’re made of, Magpie. - he added with a smug grin, turning to Essence before releasing his own Pokémon, Bandit the Galarian Zigzagoon. The scrappy little Pokémon growled in response, meeting the officers' canines with an aggressive bark. - Snarl 'em, Bandit! - Crow commanded, his voice laden with disdain towards the pair. Bandit took a deep breath and unleashed a powerful, snarling shockwave, aiming to rattle the dog Pokémon to the bone. Crow's eyes gleamed - this was where he thrived, and he was ready to show these fools exactly why he was once a Team Rocket Admin.
