Since being added in the third generation, Pokemon abilities have become a pretty crucial part of Pokemon battles, often dictating the way in which a battle will end up.
So what sort of abilities do you love/have saved you countless amount of times?
In all honesty, i'm a huge fan of Levitate. It grants a nice Ground type immunity without adding in a weakness to Ice attacks as opposed to being Flying and immune. Secondly, Electivire's Motor Drive has proven to be an incredibly use tool in baiting electric attacks and turning them into my advantage.
Super Luck and No Guard also get honourable mentions. Super Luck for the crits and... Well. No Guard is just Machamp's ticket to destruction if he has DynamicPunch in his arsenal.

I like Air Lock, Wonder Guard, Clear Body, and Pressure. Pressure because it lowers . Air Lock because it helps against the weather. Clear Body because Metagross will not have lowered stats. and Wonder Guard because Shedinja is awesome and is hard to beat if you do not expect him.

I forgot how nice Clear Body is. ;D I was using a Metagross the other day on a WiFi battle with some friends and a lot of them kept trying to switch in with an intimidating Pokemon which needless to say, did jack all. Just a shame it doesn't prevent stat loss on moves that Metagross can use itself like Hammer Arm.

Flash Fire and Water Absorb have saved me countless times.
W. Absorb because of Double Battles in PBR (SURF ABUSE, WHOO!) and with great prediction sometimes. ~
I'm also fond of Adaptability thanks to my L33T!!1 Porygon-Z. STAB x9000 thank you very much.

...You know, I can't actually get over how obvious that Water Absorb abuse trick really is. It's definitely something to keep in mind for future double battles. While competitive play for single battles is all thought out and heavily constructed, double battle competitive play seems so much more under-developed and a lot of possibilities are being overlooked. Adaptibility is brilliant on P-Z. Just a shame he screws up if a Ghost type turns up to ruin its fun. While we're on the subject of abilities, what sort of future abilities would people like to see? Time and time again i've bought up this idea of an Acid Rain ability. Something like Sand Stream on Tyranitar/Hippowdown but instead brings in poisonous rain clouds that harm all Pokemon not of the Poison type as well as removing Steel's immunity to Poison. If it doesn't sound too over powered it'd be cool if it could restore Poison types HP but if not, an immunity to end of turn damage would be nice. ;D

One ability I am looking forward to is the illusion ability. As for future ability's would be an one type of each ability that makes the pokemon immune to a specific type but one for each of the 17 types just different pokemon to make it fair. I would also like to see an ability that makes a pokemon immuine to any knockout on the first turn no matter what that would be pretty cool. I also like Joeys idea as well.

There should definitely be some more immunity guards akin to Wonder Guard. Maybe do a reverse guard and make it so only not very effective moves can damage the Pokemon in question. It'd definitely add a bit more thought to the game instead of spamming moves endlessly until it faints. The knockout one sounds pretty good. Sounds as if its the ability equivalent of a Focus Sash. That could work pretty well on a Ghost type who could, return from the beyond, so to speak. ;D

I honestly wish they restored some of the power of ghost types. In the first generation, they had so much power, they were special. Now, they are even underused! I would love to see something like "integrability" for ghost types: a random ability that makes them integrable; and the move would be ineffective.
Why so agenst wonder guard? it's such a usfull ability... And it's cut-out for him.. with only 1 HP.

I like Static! Saved me a few times (: Water Absorb is pretty nice since even Lance was too stupid to realize that Waterfall ain't gonna cut it 8P
I'd have to agree with Misty more than anything else posted thus far. Ghosts were very powerful in the beginning, yet now I view my Gengar as the biggest burden on my team (I guess every team has one, though XD) The Levitate ability hasn't done anything for him yet, either.

Hm... If we're talking powerful in the beginning as in RBY then i'd have to disagree. RBY days were Psychic's stranglehold over the game and Gengar being part-Poison foiled those plans of him being 'powerful'. That and the fact his family tree was the only Ghost type and there weren't any real Ghost moves worth giving a damn. Levitate's useful though. Just have a Pokemon out who is really weak to Ground, bait a Ground move and switch to Gengar for maximum profit. ;D
