With their latest victim now unconscious and fried from the lightning, Joltik assumed her position upon Shinya's shoulder, sighing out of a combination of boredom and frustration. "Urgh! This is SOOOOOOOOO borin'! All these lame bugs aren't gonna win us nothin'! C'mon! I know this stupid park has better bugs than these scrubs!" As much as Shinya enjoyed watching Joltik smite opponents with her Thunder, even he had to admit that he was starting to get a little bored himself, shrugging his shoulders as he opened his mouth to speak. "Meh. So, yeah. We might not win this one either, but ya know what? Who cares? We still managed to get ya some more experience outta this. And we can still snag ya a little more too. Let's go make sure out last chance doesn't completely go to waste." Once more, Shinya was off in search of a passable Bug type in the tall grass, already fully prepared to have Joltik fry up anything that failed to meet his standards.

With only one encounter remaining, it was crunch time for Team Skull. If Shinya and Joltik wanted any hope of winning this contest, they had to capture something. Of course, a Butterfree was far from what they had in mind, happening upon the Bug/Flying type while it was searching for a snack. For the first thirty seconds, it was nothing but silence, as Shinya and Joltik eyed the Butterfly Pokemon and exchanged some glances with each other as well. "Hmmm...What do ya think, Joltik? Should we?" Shinya eventually asked his Pokemon for her opinion, having more than a few doubts that a Butterfree would be enough to snag them first place in this competition. Or even second place.
"Oh, why not?! It may not be anythin' special, but it's still better than nothin'! Let's just go for it, boss!" Although this wasn't what they had in mind, the thought of returning to the rest of their team empty handed was worse for Joltik than losing this contest. So, standing by her decision, she leaped off of Shinya's shoulder one more time, locking all four of her eyes onto the wild Butterfree. "Ya know what?! You're right, Joltik! Looks like this Butterfree is comin' with us! So, let's start off with Thunder Wave!" As he gave Joltik the order to paralyze Butterfree, Shinya withdrew a Sport Ball from his pocket, getting ready to throw it. And unlike the last few encounters, Joltik fired off a stream of non-threatening lightning up at her winged opponent.

In terms of rarity, a Butterfree wasn't much to speak of. But hopefully, since it only took one Sport Ball to capture it at full HP, it would still be enough to snag second or third place at least. That's what Shinya and Joltik thought, as Joltik returned to his shoulder once more, and Shinya retrieved the Sport Ball containing said Butterfree. "Well, win or lose, at least I'm even stronger now, boss. Think anyone will buy this Butterfree from us if we send it over to Venom's shop?" Joltik asked with all four eyes staring at her trainer's face, as he pulled out a battery to give her as a reward for all her efforts. "Beats me. I just hope the judges don't make any mistakes like they did with last season's contest." Shinya commented as he began to head for the judging area, recalling how during the last contest, he thought he had won something, but then it turned out that the judges made some mistakes with the point totals.
