I am getting a 250GB PS3 in a few weeks and I thought I would ask others who have it what they think of it. I currently have a Wii and it is ok but it does not seem to be anywhere near as cool as a PS3. So feel free to let me know what you think of the PS3.

Dude, there's a board for this kind of topic called the Entertainment board. I'm sure a mod can move this though. I'm really not into PS3s though. There doesn't seem to be anything worthwhile about them to warrant a purchase. Maybe a game or two. Most of the multiplatforms I can get elsewhere and the Wii has so many niche titles that I don't really have to bother with much else. I just find it amusing how the PS3 is nothing compared to the PS2. The difference is practically night and day.

I myself want to get both the resistance games, Brothers in Arms Hell's Highway(I know it is not an exclusive) The Rachet and Clank Games, and a few others but wow the PS2 and PS3 are that different.

See Resistance doesn't particularly interest me, neither does Ratchet or Clank and as for other exclusives like Killzone, Motorstorm, LittleBigPlanet, God of War and so on... They really just don't impress me.
The one thing I meant about difference is in term of exclusive/interesting titles. I can look at a PS2 list and find about 30/40 titles which i'd say "DEFINITE BUY" to but PS3? Valkyria Chronicles, Demon's Souls and maybe InFamous.

I feel the exact oppesite in terms of Games for the PS2 since only Brothers in Arms and Call of Duty 1, Shadows of Collusus, and the First Medal of Honor are the only good ps2 games I have played.Still the PS2 is a great DVD player when my games get boring.Althought the PS3 is both a DVD and Blu Ray player.

I had the 60GB model, but honestly I found PS3 to be the worst GAMING (Can't stress this enough, PS3 is an entertainment system and gaming is secondary, or it ended up being that way anyway. The Slims are trying to fix that though.) console of the three modern systems. The only games I wanted it for are MAG, Uncharted 1 &2, and Rachet and Clank, (As a note I only got to play Uncharted 1 before PS3 and the replacement died.) absolutely hated Resistance (So never played second.), Killzone 2 was much better then Resistance (As well as a lot better then KZ1, but still stuck as those ISA bastards instead of the awesome Helghast.), still there are better games out there on other systems then KZ2 but meh.
PS3's problem is the lack of great exclusives, I mean it basically has R&C, LBP, and Uncharted with a few more that sound good on the way. It's got great non-gaming features though, internet browser, free online, much better music features then 360 (Except in-game, last I heard most PS3 games still didn't allow custom music in games.), but it's also better with movies then 360, and is a very cheap Blu-ray player. But PS3 just seems more suited to non-gaming features.
Also, as a warning if you put the PS3's hardrive into another PS3 (Like if you go to your friend's and don't want to carry the whole system.) it either deletes the data you have saved or forces you to delete it to play on the other PS3.
As a note, I find LBP amusing and a joy to play for hours on end when played with friends, it's a great game in it's own right but some of the features are limited (I heard the second's gonna be better though.) and it's just much better with friends.
Actually for some irony, I got PS3 cause my good old PS2 was having trouble reading disks, gone through two PS3s (From what I hear because Sony stopped formatting updates for the 60GBs.) and PS2 is still working. But besides that Backwards compatability is now pretty much gone anyway.
And Joey, IMO InFamous isn't bad, but definitely not a system seller. The problem is that it could have been, I get the feeling they just got pushed into rushing it. But anyway, with the latest price drop on the Slims PS3 is looking better, but it still has many of the same problems.
But yeah PS2 had much better games (Though some aren't exclusives.), Metal Arms: Glitch in the System, Jak series (Which for some reason stayed on PS2 instead of going to PS3.), God of War 1 & 2, R&C, R.A.D (Robot Alchemic Drive), Devil May Cry series, Final Fantasy's, and IMO the king of PS2 games, Kingdom Hearts 1 & 2.

Still I cannot believe I missed so many PS2 games.I might just have to try those you guys mentioned.

I found PS3 to be the worst GAMING (Can't stress this enough, PS3 is an entertainment system and gaming is secondary, or it ended up being that way anyway. I am totally in agreement with you on that. It's media functionality is pretty nifty but there's a point where you focus too much on media potential that the actual gaming side itself gets thrown out of the window. PS3's problem is the lack of great exclusives, I mean it basically has R&C, LBP, and Uncharted with a few more that sound good on the way. The one thing I think Microsoft played brilliantly on this generation was usurping the Playstation userbase. If they released it around the same time as the PS3 then the Xbox wouldn't be doing so well. But the fact they managed to rush 'em out so early and attract not only early HD adopters but also developers themselves meant the playing field has been levelled. A lot. sure Nintendo's disruption of the market helped as well. With the Wii selling as it has and has now become the best selling console this generation, developers can't quite IGNORE the number one system can they?

I actually like the fact it is more than a gaming system since it is like getting a lot of bonuses instead of just a gaming console. Plus unlike the 360 the PS3's online service is free all be it the Wii's is as well but it is no where as good. I have read quite a few reviews of the PS3 recently and almost all were highly positive for all the media options it offers as well as the best graphics for a console at this time according to GamePro. The only exclusive I hate is Littlebigplanet I do like almost all the other exclusives though.

Actually, I forgot to mention MGS4, so my bad on that one. But no one's saying that it having those features is a bad thing (360 has some of those features with different pros and cons, music is able to be used in more games on 360 but easier to use on PS3.), the problem is that gaming feels like a secondary feature that they just threw in to get people to replace their PS2s (Which is ironically still outselling PS3 in terms of systems and games.). And now that they removed PS2 backwards compatibility you're basically forced to either never play PS2 games again or buy both a PS3 and a PS2 (Provided that you didn't have a PS2 before getting PS3.). The system itself is geared toward movies or music. The free online is nice, and it has a web browser so if your computer needs to go in a shop, it could be used instead, problem is that it only allows very small posts to be made, the online stuff is also a lot easier to set up for PS3, I just found it to be less reliable and felt that it had a much worse connection then my connection on 360, plus while easier to set up it is more of a pain to use then on 360. "Best graphics" don't really matter to me (I grew up on 2D games plus Virtual Boy.) all that much, though personally I felt the Gears 2 and say the Halo Reach beta surpassed every PS3 game I've played/seen in terms of graphics, except MGS4. This comes back around to the lack of exclusives, most of the PS3 games are ports of 360 games, or at least made to the same build to allow easier conversion, so they don't really try taking advantage of PS3's possible specs. Cheaper to put a 360 game onto PS3 then it is to make a PS3 game after all, Bioshock is a prime example; the PS3 version looked a lot worse then the 360 version because they didn't make a PS3 build and pretty much just ported it. But anyway, hope you enjoy your PS3 more then I liked mine (I did like it, but I still prefer some older systems, like say PS2, GC, X-box, or DC over it simply because they had better/more exclusive games to be worth getting them. PS3 does have some good ones, but, with MGS4 being the possible exception, 360 has more and better exclusives in my mind while sharing most of the games on top of that.), I just wish it was more geared toward gaming, plus literally all my friends have 360. One of my cousins has a PS3 and he's one of two people that I know that have a PS3, but even then he had a 360 first.
