Joey strolled casually out of the route connecting Cherrygrove to Violet and had a triumphant look on his face as he realised he had finally made it to the first City that had contained a gym. He looked around with his eyes full of intrigue and decided to have a look around to familiarise himself with the area. He passed a Pokemon Centre and to the side of it a billboard with planned events caught his attention. He walked up to it and began taking in all the information. One of the posters depicted a tourist attraction of the City which was known as Sprout Tower. " Sprout Tower is home to many monks seeking enlightenment following the way of the Bellsprout..." Joe thought to himself; slightly perplexed. "Seems like an odd thing to do. Still, if they are seeking enlightenment maybe they could teach me a thing or to. Never pass up useful info. One of the first rules of being a thief." Muttered Joey under his breath as he decided on visiting this tower before bothering with anything else in the City. He walked at a leisurely pace throughout the city, absorbing all the sights, sounds and smells so that'd he'd be at least somewhat comfortable walking around after coming out of the tower. Eventually he came to a bridge that connected the city to a towering building on a small patch of land across the running lake. Joe traversed it and eventually made it to the tower. "Must be the place." He pushed the door open slightly and stuck his head through cautiously. "Anyone home?" He called out in the hopes of getting someone's attention. OOC: Note to mods: Oak's given me express permission to carry on with this so if a member of staff could mod this i'd be very thankful.

As Joe's hand connected to the door of the Sprout Tower, his ears were filled with a piercing squeech as the rusty hinges crunched against eachother. Once the door had opened, a burst of smoke fled through the gap and rised up to the clear blue sky.
Inside out the Tower, cries from Pokemon could be heard along with the odd command from their trainers. As Joe peered inside, it was clearer to see a small fire type pokemon battling viciously against three Monk's and their Bellsprouts.
The Cyndaquil, the flames on it's back dancing furiously, continued to shoot blasts of fire at the Bellsprouts. Though they withered around in pain, the Monk's were able to heal them, whereas the Cyndaquil just grew weaker... Yet it wasn't giving up.
On closer inspection, the Monk's are seemingly guarding the stairs which lead to the first floor. Defeating them is the only way to continue... And what about this Cyndaquil? Perhaps it needs some help.

The unfolding battle piqued Joe's curiosity and caused him to venture forward into the tower fully. He observed what was happening and instinctively felt that the poor Cyndaquil was being ganged up upon. "So they're beating him to death with three on one?! That ain't fair... Looks like Joey's gonna have to raise some trouble." Without further consideration he stepped forward and interrupted the flow of battle. "I thought you monks were meant to be peaceful. And here you are ganging up on this poor defenceless Pokemon. Well, i'm not gonna sit idly by! Let's level this! Meowth, go!" Ordered Joe confidently as he released his Meowth who materialised from his confines with it's claws out. "Meowth, we're gonna help this Cyndaquil out. Use Thief!"

The battle continued to burn viciously, as one of the weedy pokemon was finally flopped onto the floor in a burnt heap, making only two Bellsprouts left to defeat. The Cyndaquil made an intimidating cry, flicking it's flames boldly. Though it was obvious that he was starting to get tired...
The suddenly, Joe stepped in. As he spoke to the Monks and sent out Meowth to help aid the Cyndaquil, the small fire type looked up to Joe, slightly confused. It seemed as if this trainer was actually trying to help? It turned it's attention back to the battle, casting a blazing Ember attack.

Joe looked at the Cyndaquil and saw it was driven by a burning ambition and for whatever reason felt compelled to help it do whatever it was setting out to accomplish. Either way, Joe would never have sided with someone being so cruel to a Pokemon. As the monks gave him the silent treatment he decided to mix up his attacks with Meowth. "Okay buddy, it's cool you got your trademark move in there but let's use Bite now instead! Target the healthier one of the two! We need to gain the advantage as soon as possible." Meowth let out a little roar and pranced up to the Bellsprout before sinking his fangs into the opponent.

{{ OOC: May I drop in? }} Joey's Meowth charged on all fours and sank its fangs into the enemy Bellsprout. "Sprout!" it cried, falling back a bit. The Bite attack had caused quite a lot of damage on the first Bellsprout. Now it was Cyndaquil's turn to attack. Cyndaquil charged at the second Bellsprout and caused a decent amount of damage equal to Meowth's Bite. The battle was getting intense and both Joey's Meowth and Cyndaquil were at a lead. Then both Bellsprouts unleased another Vinewhip attack, which caused little damage on the Cyndaquil and did equal damage to the Meowth. Joe watched expectantly as Meowth's attack landed. His feline Pokemon ran back to his feet and kept his claws to try and intimidate the attacking Bellsprouts. Joey turned his attention from the Bellsprout and Meowth to Cyndaquil and saw he was still hanging in there but was starting to suffer from fatigue. He thought about using a potion on the Cyndaquil but decided against it as the Cyndaquil seemed to be far too strong to let the opponent's whip like vines defeat it. "Meowth, repeat up with another Bite! Attack the strongest one again. We've got to try and whittle them down." Meowth growled and leaped over to the Bellsprout before biting it fiercely again.

"Meow, meowth!" he cried, charging at the stronger Bellsprout and used its Bite attack for the second time. CRITICAL HIT!! "Sprooooouuuuut!" it cried, falling to the ground but slowly got up. It had lost a lot of damage but managed to counter attack with another Vine Whip at the Meowth. It did little damage and it didn't make up for the last attack. Cyndaquil used an Ember on the weaker Bellsprout. The attack was also a critical hit and the Bellsprout was instantly knocked it out. That was one less Bellsprout, now there was one left. Cyndaquil and Meowth have a chance at winning this battle. Joey laughed with glee as the battle took an advantageous turn. "ALRIGHT! You two are some pretty tough Pokemon. Meowth you're doing beautifully. Let's use that signature attack again okay? THIEF!" Meowth purred deeply and leered at the remaining Bellsprout with a glint in his eyes. He pounced at him with great agility and swiped it mercilessly with his right paw. Joe grinned as he saw Meowth was beginning to get better at using that attack. "Won't be long before we're thieving things left, right and centre...!" He checked up on the Cyndaquil and saw he was still burning with immense determination.

The Meowth nodded in response and charged at the Bellsprout, slashing at it with its sharp claws. It did a huge amount of damage, but left enough HP for the Cyndaquil to finish it off. Before the Bellsprout could attack, the Cyndaquil unleased one last Ember attack. The Bellsprout was then instantly knocked out. The Monks looked at both the Pokemon and Joey in surprise. They bowed in respect and rushed off. Joey was doing really well in the tower so far. He had befriended a Cyndaquil and managed to defeat two opponents at the same time. The Cyndaquil looked proud of itself, then looked at Joey and nodded in thanks. Joe watched confusedly as the monks scuttled off away from himself and the Pokemon and scratched his head slightly. "The heck's that about?" He let out an indifferent sigh and shrugged his arms. He turned to Meowth and noticed he had a peculiar change about him. "Hey what's up pal?" He knelt down beside him and scratched his ear. "You want to learn a new move huh...?" Joey thought for a moment before deciding on what move Meowth should learn. "Replace Growl with Fake Out. Nice job on learning a new move. We'll be sure to use that in the upcoming battles."
Joe stood back up and checked up on the trainerless Cyndaquil. "Hey... Seems pretty unusual to have a lone Pokemon raising all kinds of hell by itself. Pretty impressive though, you got some kinda personal vendetta going on?" The Cyndaquil seemed to get excited by his words. Joey raised an eyebrow and thought to himself. "Would seem that way..." He thought a moment longer before retrieving a single Pokeball from his bag. "How about I strike you a deal. If you let me take you under my wing I can make you strong. In return i'll help you take down whoever it is you want your revenge exacted upon. I know what it's like to have some vendettas..." Joey's eyes narrowed on his last words but he quickly cheered up as he finished his proposition. "Whaddya say? You and me partner?" The Cyndaquil seemed to find the terms acceptable and the fire on his back erupted powerfully. Joey nodded and caught the Pokemon with his gear. "Excellent!"
He grabbed the ball and looked over to where the monks ran off to. It was another set of stairs leading upwards. Whereever it lead, it seemed obvious that the Cyndaquil was determined to reach the top to fight whoever was located there. He nodded his head and then went flying up the stairs to see who was next up.

As Joe and his team headed up the wooden stairs, the creaking of the floorboards were the only thing making any noise. They seemed to grow louder with each step until they reached the first floor. Looking around, the floor was pretty empty. It was the same type of decoration than the ground floor and a huge beam gently swayed in the middle of the room.
As the young thief entered the room a bit more, another Monk appeared from the shadows. His sandles scraped across the floor gently, grabbing Joe's attention. The Monk held a Pokeball firmly in his hands, "It seems you wish you battle." he spoke calmly, tossing out yet another Bellsprout.
Sage Neal
Bellsprout
The Bellsprout wiggled gently on the spot, rustling it's leaves and head once or twice as he waited for Joe's move.

Joey stared the monk down and seemed to get the impression that this wasn't the monk that the Cyndaquil was after. He turned to Cyndaquil who was located near to his feet and spoke to him. "I'm going to conserve your energy if that's okay with you. I don't think this is the guy you're after am I right?" Cyndaquil responded with what seemed to be a nod and Joey nodded back to him. "Cool, i'm gonna strengthen Meowth some!" He reached for his belt and unleashed Meowth. "Okay partner, let's start off with Fake Out and make that sprout flinch!" Meowth nodded with excitement as it was his chance to use out his new move. He launched himself at the Bellsprout and ferociously slammed into him in an attempt to make it flinch.

The Monk watched carefully as Joe sent out his feline Pokemon. It's whiskers twitching eagerly as it entered yet another battle. The Bellsprout now readied itself for it's trainers command. Not that it would've been much use. The Meowth reacted straight away to Joe's command, pouncing furiously towards the Bellsprout and using Fake Out! Flinching the foe. The Monk grimaced at how the first hit had turned out.

Joey grinned at the outcome. "It may not be a powerful move but at least it gives me a free hit! Meowth follow up with a Bite attack! Be sure to really sink in yer fangs!" Meowth let out a loud hiss and pounced towards the Bellsprout. It readied back it's head and opened it's mouth wide before sinking it's fangs deeply into the Bellsprout's neck; throttling it savagely. Joey watched on, surprised by how fearsome his Meowth was. "Eheheheh... Guess he just savours the taste of battle." Reasoned Joey in within his mind.
