When it became clear the humans which had landed there, was going to leave again, he grabbed the chance and chose to join Lei to get away from the islands.
He's grateful he has gotten a second time and does all he can to pay back the favor. He has also been lonely and therefore really wants to make friends and learn about the world he is now visiting.
