Background:
Beneath Violet City’s glittering, trainer-friendly façade lies a criminal underworld shrouded in thick smog and a web of deception. Secluded in the dank alleys of the city outskirts, the most hardened of criminals indulge themselves in the melting pot of corruption, theft and illegal gambling. However, it is one infamous crime syndicate which strikes fear in the heart of the locals; a sinister organisation which has dramatically extended its operations in the city over the last few years by setting up a new branch with a reputation of shameless and ruthless expediency. As part of their policy of aggressive expansion, they are known to target new trainers who have proven their worth by obtaining the Zephyr Badge.

In a downtown bar, two men can be heard bickering among the murmuring of conversations and the crescendo of loud music. Both are wearing pure black jumpsuits sporting a red capital “R” across their chest but one of the men is clearly drunk and this infuriates his partner. With a shattering of glass and spilt gin, the rocket grunt slams his drunken accomplice onto the floor and storms out of the bar, determined to carry out his mission at whatever cost. But can he really do it all by himself…?

Quest Walkthrough:
Wandering the streets of downtown Violet late at night is not the safest of pastimes for young and budding trainers yet this part is completely necessary in order to begin this quest. Having left the bar, the Team Rocket Grunt will notice the Zephyr Badge, pinned to your clothes and will immediately approach you and demand that you join Team Rocket. Here you are forced to make an important decision that will potentially change your life forever.

Option 1: Refuse the Grunt

Rocket Grunt Bob is not a very compromising fellow and will not take kindly to a refusal of his generous offer. But luckily, he likes Pokémon battles just as much as you do and will try to convince you of your error in judgement…

If you select this option, you must defeat the Rocket Grunt in order to complete the quest.

Option 2: Accept his generous offer

After making you an offer you couldn’t refuse, he will set a little task for you before you can become a new recruit and begin your life of crime. This trial by fire will involve assisting him in his latest mission although you won’t know the full details of course. The most you’ll learn is that he intends to steal a canister of bio-hazardous material from the Pathology unit of Violet City’s Pokémon Center.

He’ll shove you into the back of his truck and tell you to remain silent until required. It’s not a very dignified way to begin your career in crime, but Bob does not take kindly to whiners. It is a long and lonely wait inside the delivery truck as the Grunt heads towards the centre of town. However, you’re in for one more surprise yet as the Grunt will use the truck to ram the door of the Pokémon Center. Once inside you must find the Pathology room and grab the canister. However, you’re actions will not have gone unnoticed…

Two police offers will quickly descend upon the scene to arrest you. It’s too late now to have second thoughts and you must team up with your accomplice to defeat the law-enforcers.

Once the officers have been subdued, it is time to make a get-away. Get back in the truck and get out of there! Once you are safely out of the reach of the long arm of the law, the Team Rocket Grunt will congratulate you on your first success. You will receive a Slowpoke Tail for your efforts as well as be able to join the infamous organization.

Note that there are two ways to complete this mission depending on the option that you have selected. The rewards are exclusive to each option.
