Right! As most of you know, the main reason why I wasn't around for the longest while was because I was on holiday in an RV all over the south-east portion of these United States. The vacation was really something we all needed since the last couple of years have been rather cruel to us. Ranging from spontaneous bad days to family tragedies, we just never took a nice, long vacation anywhere that wasn't going either of my grandparents' places.
We set sail for my aunt and uncle's place at around 4 in the morning so we would leave our car there and then we'd all hop in the RV. Though these things are rather spacious for vehicles, try fitting 6 people in and 1 nine year old boy. The road-trip itself was crazy what with the driving for all eternity to get to wherever we are going. Nothing much to mention because there was just a bunch of road and not much more.
Our first destination was Tybee Island, Georgia. This was the first time ever in my life that I got to see the Atlantic and it was worth every day to wake up and watch the sunrise over that body of water! The weather here was also so much warmer that back home in Kansas, but was still too chill to take a dip or even just lay on the beach for a tan. Nobody else was really even here and there wasn't much to do. Still, I loved it anyway. The bright sunshine and being able to wear shorts felt great. I liked going for a jog on the local pier and just gazing out to the sea with my own thoughts. Naturally, I also had to spend a lot of time with Patrick as well, who did nothing but complain the whole time (typical). But he did like these little ocean birds that moved their legs so quickly whenever they ran from place to place. I don't know what they're called (not seagulls, that much I know), but we just called them "little motor birds".
When Christmas Eve was starting to draw near, we left the oceanfront of Tybee Island and went to Jesup, Georgia to spend Christmas with my Uncle Jerry who lived there. I barely remember the guy, the last (and first) time I saw him was when I was still in the hospital after being bit by that rattlesnake. However, he was overjoyed to see us and how much some of us had grown since then. I helped with making the dinner and that is where we had our Christmas and next following days. From the gifts I got, I got the "gifts from dad" that I bought on Black Friday (mainly clothes I had my eyes on) as well as Wii Fit, which was a secret surprise. My brother Patrick got Donkey Kong Country Returns and PokePark Wii along with, of course, clothing. I got my dad a new pocket knife, work boots, and a super warm jacket since his old one was getting... old. But the biggest Christmas gift was yet to come and I had secret hopes of this. My dad can hide a secret just about as well as a tissue paper can hold water, so I read him like an open book. But on Christmas day, he told all of us that we would be heading to Disney World from December 31st to January 2nd! The house exploded with excitement!
After spending a few more days with my Uncle Jerry, we left and started heading further south down into Florida. We didn't take the most direct way there since we spent most of the time going alongside the ocean, which I didn't mind (but Patrick did).
When we finally arrived in the early afternoon on New Year's Eve, we checked into our room at the All-Star Sports Resort. There were giant basketballs outside of our room! After getting a bite to eat at the food court, we went to spend some time in the Magical Kingdom! We didn't see everything that the place had to offer and after so long, I came back to the room for a breather and to, of course, rub in the fact that I WAS AT DISNEY WORLD AND ULTRA ISN'T ON NEW YEAR'S EVE. I then went back and had hot cocoa and cookies with the rest of the family and about 10 billion other people in the streets in front of the castle and saw the most amazing fireworks show I had ever seen. I got to chill next to Jack Sparrow, too~
Day two of Disney World allowed me to roam free from the rest of my family and I got to do what I wanted. So, I went to Epcot all by myself to see the different pavilions that they had. Naturally, I just had to ride the monorail and visit Spaceship Earth (the super big dome thing that is pretty much the icon of Epcot). I also went to visit some Future area, Canada, America, Mexico, Germany, Italy, Japan, and of course France! Each of the pavilions there was modeled after the different cultures so it felt like you were almost right there in these countries, minus the larger than you cartoon characters that would occasionally run around. This made me want to travel the entire globe and see these places in real life!
Day three got me tangled back up with the whole family again as we went to the Animal Kingdom together. Naturally, like anybody who goes to the Animal Kingdom, we had to see the animals. The safari train ride was amazing and far better than any zoo since the place is roughly 10,000 times bigger than the dinky places the zoo would keep their animals. And don't worry, nobody got sprayed by a tiger so we didn't smell like popcorn for the rest of the day (until we got popcorn). After that, we went to the Kali River Rapids to make up for the complete lack of the water parks that I wanted to do. Patrick was freaked out by the ride, my cousin Emily almost got sick, but I tried my hardest to keep hands-up the entire ride; not very easy to do since I kept getting the nice handlebars jabbed into my belly. Still, it was a hell of a lot of fun and the Dinosaur ride was one of my favorites! Actually, anything involving dinosaurs was fun, from the rides to the game to the fossil digging and the fossils themselves! But what'd you expect from Disney World?
The whole experience went by so quickly and the memories will last a lifetime, but it was really disappointing when we all had to go. It was only a three day trip and we barely had any time to see everything the place had to offer. But we still had time to do some stuff, so we went a little further south so we could actually do some swimming in the ocean and road tripped to not so important places before we made our way home. From balmy 70-80 degree weather to a freezing wasteland of snow and ice... ahh, it is good to be home.
