The Blossoms of Cherrygrove

[On Grass route towards Violet City... Gimme a Mareep or an insane Azurill and I will love you forever <3]

It was mid-day, the sun was gleaming brightly into the sky, smiling down on Cherrygrove City and the Route which led away from it. It's rays dancing inbetween the leaves and branches of the trees, but never seemed to reach the floor which created a shadow. Resting underneath the trees was Sharada. Her lengthy brown hair framing her tired looking face as she let out a high-pitched yawn, "-AAHH... What a day." she mumbled quietly to herself.

Using the tree to support her, she forced herself onto her feet. stretching her arms and legs for a short moment before looking up at the path in front of her. She was on the way towards Violet City, the place of the first Gym badge. A smile appeared on her face as she thought about a Gym battle, the challenge sounded so thrilling. A moment later, she began to fiddle around in her bag and brought out a small machine, her PokeGear. After pressing a few buttons, a map popped up and using her finger, Sharada planned her next plan of action, "So... we follow it up here, make a turn aaand... Boom! I'll be there!" she spoke with a proud tone, flicking her PokeGear away.

With a hint of haste in her steps, Sharada began to make her way through Route 30, keeping on her toes for any wild pokemon or trainers.

After fifteen minutes of walking, a foul smell filled Shadara's noise. Nearby a lone Ledyba was shaking in fear, as it latched it's self on to a tree. The Ledyba looked around with a worried look in its eye. "LEDY! LEDYBA!" The bug pokemon called out as if it was looking for a lost companion.

Sharada soon found herself skidding to a halt as the foul smell entered her nose. Without a second thought, she lifted her hands to cover her nose whilst looking around for the source of the smell, "Grah! What is that stench?!" she complained, her voice slightly muffled. Though as soon as the Ledyba called out, her head slowly turned. Gazing towards the group of trees, the fearful Ledyba came into view.

Her eyebrow began to twitch nervously at the bug type pokemon. She absolutly hated them. The amount of legs it had, it's twitching antenna... It gave her the creeps. With a slight shudder, she began to pull herself away, until it let out another cry. The cry sounded so sorrowful, Sharada just couldnt seem to be able to turn her back to it.

Knowing that she would regret it later, Sharada began to weave deeper into the foul-smelling stench, trying to get closer to the Ledyba. She kept her distance however, allowing herself the space to make a quick get away incase it lunged towards her. Gulping softly, she tried to grab it's attention, "H-Hey there... L-Little Ledyba..."

Blades of grass irritating the soles of his feet, a lone Delibird quietly grunted. The joy his deliveries brought to their recipients stirred great happiness within this Pokémon, but traveling through forestry and woodland terrain upset him dearly. Shuffling through the weedy undergrowth, shaded from the sun by the oppressing leafy umbrella of trees above. Bug Pokémon scuttled around the penguin, less intelligent birds peering from their natural perches, twittering pass remarkably to each other.

Delibird cocked his head towards the small crack in the canopy, bright sun filtering through, playful rays bouncing amongst the loose leaves on the forest floor. The light brushed against the soft red feathers dressing his body, vibrant against the surrounding area, subdued in greens and browns, twisting their way around the plump penguin. The Ice-type wandered further into the wood, cautiously glancing between every tree in search of the girl he was to offer the item in his tailsack.

A vile stench began wafting towards the bird, seeping into his nostrils and down his throat; Delibird gagged violently, spluttering and wheezing as he propped himself against a the thick bark of a tree. Wiping the tears from his eyes, the Delivery Pokémon attempted to ignore the smell, waddling around the tree he had used to support himself. His gaze was greeted with an interesting change of scene; the colours of a girl - pink, white, black - rushed into the Delibird's line of vision. Bright blue eyes and rich brown hair, she tentatively approached a Ledyba.

A wide smile spread over the Delibird's face - he had located his recipient. However, this caused his nostrils to widen, the awful smell, seemingly emanating from the small insect, flowed into his nose, once again enticing a flurry of convulsive gags. This unbecoming display caught Sharada's attention, who turned to the bird; Ledyba, startled by the coughs, also turned to Delibird. This added sense of danger intensified the repulsive nature of Ledyba's scent. The Delivery Pokémon raised one of his wings, forcing a friendly wave, followed by an attempt in vain at forcing a smile. Now rapidly shaking with the force of his gagging, the Delibird lost his balance as he tripped on a loose branch behind him, wobbling backwards into a patch of tall grass.

As he fell, Delibird felt the delivery slide out of sack, propelling across the dry soil. Panic washing over him, the Flying-type hopped to his feet, now seemingly oblivious to the stench, diving onto the round object escaping the area, quickly damage assessing the item. Confident that the accident had not caused any harm to the oblate spheroid now held tightly in his arms, the Delibird swiftly made his way out of the grass, approaching Sharada with a relieved smile. Despite being covered in loose soil, the adolescent could see that the object clutched in Delibird's wings was a Pokémon Egg. Receiving the Egg from the Delivery Pokémon, Sharada noticed that the loose soil obscuring the Egg's colour was so dry, that it behaved like dust, falling from the curved surface at a gentle touch. Brushing the particles from the Egg, the teenage girl managed to quickly reveal the colour...

... what colour Egg was Sharada holding?

It was taking a great deal of courage for Sharada to even take a step near a bug type pokemon, so when another rustling noise from the grass was heard, she was completely unsure of what to do, "Ooh jeez... What if it is Ledyba's mother or something? Ooh Arceus... GRAH! This smell is still up my nose! Why can't my legs move, damnit?! I want to run!" As the movements started to creep closer, it almost seemed to catch Ledyba's attention, causing it to emit an even more powerful stench than before. Gripping her nose tightly, she was unsure of where to look. The Ledyba or the grass? Holding out the smell was important aswell... Until there was a series of strong coughs. Both Sharada and Ledyba paused as a little wing waved in the air.

It was a Delibird! Something else that was obviously being affected by the strong stench. Sharada gazed at it helplessly as it began to wobble from side to side before finally flopping to the floor. Though something else caught her eye. An object had just escaped from the Delibird and was rapidly rolling through the dirt. As it approached Sharada, she knelt down onto one knee, stopping the egg gently with her foot. Amazingly, she was able to force a smile as the Delibird wobbled over to her, despite the smell. Though the smile soon faded into a look of shock as the dirtied egg was handed to her. Taking in a deep breath, Sharada removed her spare hand from her nose. Yes, the smell was vile, but she wanted to try, just for the Delibird.

Using both of her hands, she took the egg and began to gently brush off the remaining sections of dirt. She blinked at the vivid colour before smiling to the Delibird, "Thank you", she stuttered through the repulsive smell.

With a twitch of her eyebrow, Sharada turned back to the problem at hand... The Ledyba.

With a cry of sorrow, the Ledyba flew towards Sharada's arms, with Ledyba's own arms spread wide. Instead of trying to embrace her, the Ledyba grabbed for the egg, ripping it out of the teens grasp. "Ledy-ba-ba!" the pokemon cried after Sharada, tears could be seen flowing down the pokemons face.

The bug pokemon clumsily flew off into the tall grass, carefully holding the egg with all its available hands. The weight of the egg was clearly holding back the bug. Soon after the Ledyba flew into the grass, three voices could be head laughing, two male and the other female.

"Oh look what we have here, a cute little bug and its egg! The boss will love this!" The loud female voice exclaimed.

There wasn't a word strong enough to describe the look of sheer dread as the Ledyba released itself from the tree and came flying in her direction. It's little antenna and arms wiggled as it flew through the air towards her. She wasn't able to hold in the fear any longer, closing her eyes, she let out a piercing scream. It echoed throughout the route, causing a flock of Pidgey's in a near-by tree to flee in shock.

Bracing herself to be hit by a tackle, she ended up looking relatively shocked as she didn't feel anything. Instead, she felt something wiggling in her arms. Waiting for a moment before opening her eyes, she quickly realised that something was missing. "AAHH! My egg!" she squealed, jumping on the spot. She looked around on the floor for a moment, hoping that she had simply dropped it and that it was okay. But indeed, it was the worst case scenario. She turned on the spot only to see the Ledyba high-tailing off with it.

Though chasing after the pesky bug was the last thing on her mind, she wanted her egg back. Without hesitation, she spun on the spot and began to chase after it. Though the sun was gleaming so brightly, the rays slightly obscured her eyesight. She tried to follow the rustling noise of the grass before suddenly skidding to a halt.

The sound of three voices laughing entered her hears. Tossing her head from side to side, she tried to find the laughing trio. Using her hand, she tried to block out the rays of the sun and eventually saw three silhouettes. She heard the voice of the woman, a frown appearing on her face as she mentioned the egg. But it was her egg, not the stupid bug's. Taking a couple of steps forward, Sharada got a better glimpse of the figures, "H-Hey! Back off! That egg is mine."

The female looked up with a sardonic look on her face, which morphed into a sneer. Her long red hair arced out from just above her neck and curved down towards her bottom. Malevolent blue eyes sparkled as they landed on Sharada and her claim to the purple egg the female was now holding. She let out a laugh that sounded more like a cackle.

Rising to her feet, her male partner following, she smirked at Sharada. They both wore identical white outfits, each with a large red R on their shirts. The only differences were the woman wore a skirt and a shorter sleeved shirt, and her partner opted for a long sleeved shirt and pants. "Listen, is that a voice I hear?" she said, likely confusing the trainer. But they simply had to do their motto!

"It's speaking to me loud and clear!" chimed in the blue-haired man, his green eyes no different from his partner's. His hair was considerably shorter than his partner's, just reaching his cheeks.

"On the wind!"
"Past the stars!"
"In your ear!" their Pokemon interjected.
"Bringing chaos at a breakneck pace!"
"Dashing hope, putting fear in its place!"
"A rose by any other name is just as sweet."
"When everything's worse, our work is complete."

"And Meowth, now dat's a name!"
"Putting the do-gooders in their place.."

A large blue Pokemon sprang out of a ball on Jessie's belt to finish up their motto. Their Meowth looked up at Sharada with a disapproving look to his face. "Look girlie, we ain't givin' your Egg back just 'cause you asked nice!" he said with a twang, paws resting on his hips. A talking Pokemon - a rare commodity around any parts. "Now hold on a minute, Meowth," James interjected, looking apprehensive.

Jessie whirled on him, but said nothing, just giving him a venomous look that would make a Gengar proud. James paled, but pressed on. "Who knows what's in that Egg? It might be something the boss doesn't need," he reasoned calmly. Definitely the one in the group to appeal to. Jessie huffed and stared at the Egg, then shot a nasty look at the Ledyba they had coerced into helping them. It squeaked in terror and landed in the grass, quivering uncontrollably. "Okay, twerp!" Jessie addressed Sharada in her high pitched, girlish voice, turning to face their victim.

"If you really want your worthless Egg back so badly, you'll have to battle us for it!" Jessie held up a Poke Ball and threw it into the air, where it popped open and released the Pokemon held inside.

"Se-VIPAH!" the Fang Snake hissed, whipping its sword-like tail around threateningly. James, looking even more reluctant, threw out his Pokemon too. A large Carnivine appeared in the grass, staring at Sharada briefly before turning around and biting the top of its trainer's head. "Not me, Carnivine! You're supposed to attack HER!" came his muffled cry.

With a confused look, the Fly Catcher Pokemon drifted out to float by its comrade. Meowth snickered and crossed his arms. "You really think you can beat us, twerp?" he asked snidely.

Sharada gazed forward, taking a good look at the odd trio. The first thing she noticed was the large red R on their clothing, which made her ponder for a few moments. Though it was fairly obvious that they were a part of Team Rocket. They looked somewhat threatening, plus they were trying to steal her egg. Before she could even speak back to them, the trio began to speak, almost in lyrics. She began to blink several times, a perplexed facial expression slowly appearing on her face, "... What the heck are they on about?" she muttered under her breath, her tone in slight disbelief.

Eventually they stopped and the third voice almost made Sharada jump in the air. The little meowth was speaking, in human speak! Her eyes widend, watching it carefully, "W-What manner of trickery is this?! A talking Pokemon?!" Still trying to work out how the Pokemon could talk, she completely ignored the conversation between Jesse and James. But the next thing she knew, two Pokemon had been sent out of their pokeballs. A threatening looking snake and a large plant.

It seemed the pair were challenging her to a battle, reaching into her bag, she pulled out two of her own Pokeballs. "A battle huh? Well, if thats what you really want!..." A grin spread across her face as she tossed the two pokeballs, which erupted into a burst of light in front of her. The first of her Pokemon was her loyal partner, Charmander. As he emerged, he let out a piercing cry, his tail burning brightly. Her second Pokemon probably looked like a joke in a battle like this but she was willing to give it a shot. The little egg Pokemon wandered towards Charmander, wearing a slightly confused look on it's face.

Sharada looked down to both of her Pokemon, clentching her fists tightly, "Alright guys! They stole our Pokemon Egg and we need to get it back!" With a enthusastic cry back from Charmander and a little sqeak from Togepi, she looked up and dramatically pointed ahead of her, "ALRIGHT!... Togepi! Extrasensory on Seviper! Charmander, use Ember on that Carnivine!... Move out, guys!"

Charmander jumped up and down in excitement, he was ready to battle! He jumped once more then opened his mouth to reveal a lot of small tongues of fire that were projected from his mouth towards the Carnivine standing in front of him. Carnivine's leafy body contorted in pain due to the specks of flame that danced along it.

"Car!" it cried before turning to face the Charmander bearing its teeth. It opened its mouth as wide as it could before hovering over to Charmander and taking a large bite into its head. It was now Charmander's turn to cry out in pain. Its skin burnt where Carnivine's teeth sunk in.

Togepi jumped up and down too. With a high pitched squeak its shell glowed brightly in a rainbow of colours. The glowing expanded and concentrated into a single beam of Psychic energy. Seviper was knocked off balance whenever the beam hit it.

"Seviper!" it hissed in agony before glaring at Togepi. In anger, its tail glowed a deep shade of purple that it slammed into the baby Togepi. The Poison Tail had full power.

Sharada watched carefully as the battle began. She had never really done a double battle before, so she needed to keep a close eye on both of her Pokemon. She eyed the Seviper in front of her carefully, though the Carnivine looked pretty strong, the venomous snake looked like more of a challenge.

It seemed her minds predictions were true, as Charmander was able to withstand Carnivine's attacks better than Togepi did. Her little egg pokemon seemed to be in really bad shape after the powerful smack from the foe's tail aswell. With a sudden thought, Sharada ordered her next attack, "Alright Charmander! Keep your focus on Carnivine! Burn it with another Ember!" Whilst Charmander bounced back into action, Sharada turned her attention back to her Togepi. She began to fiddle around in her bag for a moment, before making a distractive whistle for Togepi. As it caught her attention, Sharada signalled for her to wandered back.

Moving to her knees, Sharada brought out a Potion and began to gently squirt it on Togepi, hoping it would heal her wounds, "Alright... I think thats about it." she mumbled under her breath, disposing of the empty potion. Togepi jumped happily as it was now healed and began to waddled back over to the battlefield, "Just hang in there, Togepi!" Sharada yelled back, her eyes glancing to Charmander aswell to see how he was doing.

"Haha, in your face twerpette!" Jessie shrieked in triumph as her Seviper landed a heavy blow on the little Togepi. It hissed, gloating, and withdrew as the Togepi seemed dazed and on the verge of fainting. Carnivine's assault on the Charmander seemed less effective, and it nursed its wounds before its trainer could send it forth again.

James scratched his head and frowned at his Pokemon, looking concerned. "Get back out there... we can still swing this our way!" he tried to encourage his Pokemon. "Car... nivine!" it agreed cheerfully, spinning around in midair to face its two foes.

And received a face of flames.

Carnivine moaned in agony as the stinging flames did their work and took it out of the battle. It flopped onto the ground, its eyes firmly shut against the pain it had endured before passing out. James groaned and recalled the Pokemon, shrinking away before his partner could reprimand him.

Luckily she seemed too focused on the battle. "Seviper, use Poison Tail on Charmander!" she ordered, watching as the snake advanced on Charmander with a malevolent look in its eyes.

Charmander seemed to quail as the serpent drew closer and raised its bladed tail. A purple aura engulfed it before it was slammed unceremoniously into Charmander's stomach, sending the lizard wheezing back several steps. "Vipah..." the Fang Snake jeered tauntingly, red eyes still locked hungrily upon its two foes.

"Yeah I can talk, girlie. What's so weird about that?" Meowth asked indignantly. "Chatots can talk. Sure, it ain't nearly as flawless as my speech, o'course." James remained quiet through everything, staring at his Poke Ball sadly. The Ledyba they had tricked earlier remained where it landed in the grass, watching the battle with wide eyes.

As the burst of flames from Charmander landed with a bang onto Carnivines face, Sharada let out a cheer. It seemed that she was just about half way through the battle now, but the opposing team soon caught her eye. The male member seemed to be slinking backwards a few steps, perhaps to get away from his partner. A little laugh escaped from Sharada's lips as she looked to him, feeling somewhat sorry for the guy, "Heh... Poor guy. Its plain to see who is in charge of their relationship." she mumbled under her breath, possibly loud enough for Jessie to hear.

Though back to the battle, it seemed as is the Seviper was still left over. She watched as it slivered forwards, sending it's poisonous tail crashing down on Charmander. She seemed to cring for a moment, but relaxed and breath a sigh of relief as Charmander hobbled back onto his feet. A smirk was now spreading across her face. She knew of Team Rocket, knowing that they were cheats and scum, so even if she were to finish off the Seviper, there would be a chance that they would have a plan B. Keeping on her toes was one of the things on the top of her list.

With not another moment of hesitation, she ordered her next move, "Alright! Both of you strike that Seviper! Charmander, hit him with an Ember! And Togepi, cook me up another one of those Extrasensory's would ya?" She sounded rather repeative ordering the same moves over and over, but she didn't really care, she wanted her egg back.

Jessie did indeed hear her. "Butt out, you prissy little child!" the woman raged, eyes sparking in fury. Seviper added its hiss and whipped its tail around threateningly. A long, pinkish red forked tongue slipped out from between its two large fangs, wriggling as it tasted the scents in the air.

Fear seemed to be emanating from both Pokemon, no matter how steady they really appeared. It was even tastier from the small Togepi, who became the object of its focus.

"Sssssevipah..." it threatened, slithering forwards unbidden. Togepi had received its command though, and with quick intuition (and a Quick Claw to boot) it took on a rainbow colored hue, prepping its psychic energy for release. "Finish that little eggie off with your best Poison Tail!" Jessie yelled, flinging her finger at Sharada's smaller Pokemon.

With savage glee the serpent raised its bladed tail and swung it towards Togepi without further hesitation. Right before it was about to make contact, it stopped.

Just inches from Togepi's side.

Togepi had released its amassed psychic energy right into Seviper's face. It had convulsed from the Extrasensory, eyes bulging in shock and pain. A strangled hiss bubbled up its throat, just as Sharada's Charmander spat a volley of flames at the stunned snake. Togepi shuffled back several steps, quivering but proud of its work.

Seviper fell onto its side with a soft exhalation of breath. Jessie screamed out loud, almost deafening anyone and thing in the vicinity with the volume of her shriek. "I'm not letting some dorky little twerpette get away with beating us!" the red-haired Rocket member raged. Producing another Poke Ball, she threw it towards the battlefield where it sprung open upon hitting the ground.



"Yaaan..." the Ogre Darner rumbled, wings barely visible as they beat furiously to keep the Bug type in the air. "Beat them down with Silver Wind!" Jessie yelled, hands clenched into fists. Yanmega obliged, body curving up as it began to churn the winds for its attack.

"REEEP!" "PII!"

Two Pokemon sprang out of the grasses nearby and landed before Yanmega, their backs to Sharada and her team. Mareep and Pichu! The Mareep's fur crackled with building electricity, where the small rodent's pink cheeks sparked before the duo fired a pair of Thundershocks at the dragonfly.

It screeched out painfully before collapsing in a heap at Jessie's feet. "NO NO NO NO NO!" Jessie screeched, stomping on the ground. Looking at each other, Mareep and Pichu powered up again and shocked the entire trio of Team Rocket, until a small explosion occurred that sent the group into the air with their Pokemon.

"Stupid twerps ruining our plans no matter where we go!" "In Kanto, Hoenn, even Johto..." "And as usual... we're always..."

"BLASTING OFF AGAIN!"

They disappeared over the horizon with a twinkle. Mareep and Pichu danced around happily, glad to have chased away the mean humans harassing the local Pokemon. Pichu wandered over to where Sharada's egg had been unceremoniously dropped towards the ground. The Ledyba from earlier had fallen under it, and clutched the precious Egg with all six legs. It peered apologetically at Sharada before handing the egg to the curious Pichu.

It made a happy noise and toddled over to the girl, swaying dangerously against the weight. The Ledyba took off before anything could be said or done to it further, winging its way back to its home.

Pichu deposited the egg by Sharada's feet and scuttled off itself, skipping merrily into the grass. Mareep, however, cocked its head and looked at Sharada inquiringly. All three Pokemon started when the egg by Sharada's feet began to rock rapidly.

Cracks appeared all over as it shook violently before the entire shell shattered. Sitting in the center of the mess was a small, brown rabbit covered in cream colored fluff on its ears and bottom. It blinked tiredly, rubbing its eyes with small paws before gazing up at the human girl towering over it. "Bun?" it peeped up, completely oblivious to everything but Sharada.

Of course, there was another distraction occurring. Charmander stared at its paws as it took on a brilliant white glow. It encompassed the entire body of the fiery lizard, and began to flicker and grow as Charmander completed the evolution process into Charmeleon. The taller, red lizard blinked and looked around before making a cheerful noise at having finally evolved!

As both Seviper and Carnivine were down, Sharada and her team were now waiting for their next move and sure enough, they had one. A large dragonfly-like pokemon emerged from the third pokeball. Just the size of it gave Sharada the shivers. Even then, before she had the chance to order any moves, Jesse had sent the Yanmega it's move. Grimacing, Sharada and her two pokemon watched as it swiftly prepared its attack, though a rustling close by seemed to change everything. Two small pokemon appeared from the bushes, sending bolts of lightning into the direction of Jesse and James, then suddenly, they were sent sky rocketing.

Sharada wasn't really sure what to think. The trio sure was strange with their introduction and even their exit. The way they yelled sounded as if it had happened to them many times before. With a shrug of her shoulders, her attention was soon drawn to the movement by her feet. It seemed as if the Pichu had kindly returned her egg with the help of it's Mareep friend. Moving to her knees, a soft smile appeared on her face, "Thank you both very much. I couldn't have done it without your surprise attacks." Though before she could thank them, she realised that both the Ledyba and Pichu had ran off. But the Mareep was still about. As it cocked it's head at Sharada's egg, she gazed down to watch as cracks began to appear.

The little brown ears and soft cry were enough to make Sharada grin for joy. As it rubbed it's eyes, she moved her own hands forward, picking up the Buneary and placing it on her lap, "Hello little Buneary. My names Sharada... and this is Togepi and... what?!" Her eyes suddenly widend as she noticed her Charmander was being engulfed by a bright light. It seemed to morph into a taller, stronger built shape until slowly fading again. The little bump in with the Team Rockets had really worked well for Sharada, firstly with her egg and secondly with a stronger Pokemon, "Heh, I'm proud of you Charma-- No. Charmeleon." Raising a hand, she held it out to Charmeleon to give him a high five before placing her hand inside her bag to bring out three pokeballs. Looking to Buneary, Charmeleon and Togepi, she nodded and returned them all, "Good work guys. You all deserve a long rest."

With a heave, Sharada moved back up onto her feet. By now she would've been in Violet City, ready to challenge the Gym. She was about to rush on ahead until the little Mareep caught her attention. Turning slightly, she looked down towards it, "Hm. You okay there, little Mareep?"
