I just checked Bulbapedia and it doesn't say anything and I only played in once months ago so I'm not sure... Bulbapedia would mention it if there were though, right?

Ribbons are no longer handed out in this game. At least, not nearly as much as Hoenn/Sinnoh did. I think there are still ribbons handed out for World Championship winners and the like but you don't get anything from musicals. Pokemon from previous generations still retain their ribbons however.

What's the point in taking part in it, then? With both Contests and SuperContests, you could do it to win ribbons but there are none! WHAT IS THIS MONSTROSITY?

The point in playing is... Well... You see... Ah who am I kidding, there isn't much point. I do remember one thing though and it pertains to getting the best ranked trainer card. You have to finish first place to upgrade the card rank one level as well as collecting all items.
The annoying thing about this though is the way they tell you you're first. It's not explicit and you have to do some digging around to find out which text said you were best. Everything he says is all rather complimentary.

I just like spending a butt-ton of time dressing up various Pokémon in random ways and seeing if they look good enough to keep a photo of... xD
It's a bit of a downgrade from contests, but fun all the same.

News has just been released of a Pokemon Musical theme download via Global Link... Except... It's Japan only again. Okay, in days past I can understand it'd be a bit difficult to spread all the bonuses the Japanese kept getting, after all stuff like online downloads wasn't readily available. But now that it is mainstream, you'd think they'd share the love. Funnily enough, the song is entitled "Pokemon Smash" perhaps a direct reference to the Pokemon Rumble sequel in the works? ;D

Oh Nintendo, you and your marketing techniques. What is the actual download? A new song to dance to or something?

Yeah it's a new song to dance to. There was another one you called download that just went MUUUNNA MUUUUNNNAAA. Kind of amusing and cringeworthy at the same time.
Other news has also pointed to Japanese players getting a SECOND exclusive download for the time being which is supposed to be called: Pokémon Musical de Fashion ♪. This one's meant to tie in with various events that are going around in Pokemon Centres throughout Japan. See this annoys me, if it's the fact they're not releasing the song over here due to no PCs then that's nonsense! It'd be nice to have anyway, I don't know ANYONE who would say no to free content.
