Triple and Rotation battles

When they first announced Triple battles I was very, very sceptical about it. That's half of your six possible Pokemon team out on the battlefield and the concept just seem very cluttered in my head. Since playing some online as well as against the computer i'm still a bit dubious about it. Double battles were a nice addition as they offer a fair about of synergy between Pokemon but triple just seems like a case of the developer thinking more is better. Perhaps i'm not just giving them enough time.

Rotation battles on the other hand really surprised me. I heard very little about them in the lead up to release and having faced one in the game (seriously, that annoys me, you have only ONE rotation battle and its at the end of the game? WTF GAMEFREAK?!) I much prefer this to triple battles. It offers a fair bit of mindgames as you can see the other possible Pokemon the opponent can swap into and just offers a really fresh breath into Pokemon battling.

Definitely wish there were more Rotation battles.

There were 2 Rotation battles. I had one with a guy in a town... Yes, I am being as specific as possible. I LOVED THEM. They were really, really fun.

Triple Battles were just silly and, as you said, cluttered.

...Oh my. I just read up on some websites and it seems that was another version difference. White had more triple and Black had more rotation.

THAT DOESN'T EVEN MAKE SENSE. Why implement a feature and have one feature more than in the other and vice versa?!

That's actually pretty funny. I've pretty much broke even with the version exclusive choices. White has as many features as does Black. Not that often you get it. But it is stupid to restrict battle styles like that. They should just spread them equally.

Especially since they're new[/b] features. If they were old... Yeah, maybe but not if you're using them to market your games!

The annoying thing on White is that to actually access Rotation battles you have to first face this girl who is at that final bridge, the one between White Forest/Black City and Nimbasa. After you beat here she's all "WHOOPEDY DOO YOU CAN DO NOW DO THIS WITH YOUR FRIENDS! x3"

What. You don't get any pre-Elite 4? We got 2. Still not substantial but at least they were there. That has to be my complaint with Rotation Battles: how sparse they were (lol, especially for you). Only 2 pre-E4 is too little. I wanted much more after I had my first one.

Could you have taken part in a Rotation Battle before that woman if you were battling someone who had them unlocked/had Black?

I know! I've since had some battles online that were under the Rotation style and it just makes me all the more annoyed they didn't include it as it's a nice change to things. I must admit, they did have lots of missed opportunities. One of them gym leaders could have specialised in rotation (maybe the final gym?) and the first gym in Striaton could have EASILY been a triple battle with all three gym leaders. It just seemed like a shoddy cop out.

And hm, I am not too sure. It may very well be possible but the way its implied by the girl it sounds like you had to partake in one to make it unlocked in your game. I suspect that's wrong though otherwise it's very stupid.

Well, I think a Triple Battle for your first gym would be a bit much. If they shifted them so they were 4th or something, that could easily work.

I wish there was literally just a place I could go for Rotation battles, they were easily one of the funnest bits of the game.

Not even the Battle Subway has Rotation Battles. I'm pretty sure they don't as I spent many a lonely night chugging along on the subway trains doing the various battles. All they seem to offer is Single, Double and Multi (The inclusion of a partner on your team).

Fs, Battle Subway, fs. Well, how much do you want to bet they'll pop up everywhere in Pokémon Grey? Or at least be included in a special area of the Battle Frontier? They'd better be, anyway.

Ah that's true! A lack of Battle Frontier. I definitely suspect they'll add those playstyles in there. If they don't then they've lost all sense. If not we shall lobby for it to be included.

That's probably why there's so few - they're saving it for Grey! If they're not there, wanna have Triple battles while sitting on all of Game Freak's employees?
