A thread for all the subtle little changes they've improved (Or made worse?) with in Black and White.
One thing i'm grateful for is the augmentation of some of the older moves. Just accuracy being upped here and there (Giga Drain now being much more powerful) as well as the change seen when catching Pokemon. Sometimes it'll land a critical hit with a metallic ping and then capture it without fail. It's certainly saved my neck a few times.
The other nice update was to some previously horrendous abilities. Stuff like Sturdy which in previous games only nullified OHKO moves like Horn Drill. Now in Gen V it can survive anything at full health. Stench too (An ability that lowered random encounters) now ups flinch rates if the move makes physical contact. Storm Drain and Lightningrod also function far better as instead of just receiving the attack they now render it useless and power up their attacking power.
It's a good thing they took the time out to expand and balance some of the older features. ;D Definitely impressed with the new updated abilities though.

I had a critical capture fail me, honest to god. I was fighting an Absol, had it wheedled down, and tossed a Timer Ball. I heard that noise, Absol was drawn in, fell to the ground. Shook once before it popped open. I nearly had an aneurysm.
I do like the upgraded abilities (I hate Sturdy with a passion haha) and boosted moves.
Now they just need MOAR GENDER DIFFERENCES

WOAH?! It can fail? I'm glad the times it worked for me it didn't bugger up then. I think I had one on Cobalion, haha. That seems like bit of a shame that it isn't guaranteed. Sturdy has been really useful for me. A lot of the Pokemon with Sturdy can hit hard but have absolutely paltry speed. So at least if they get knocked down to 1HP they can't take out a massive chunk with them. More gender differences would be good. I could barely make out any with the fifth generation Pokemon.

Yeah, I always assumed it would capture them but it also probably relies on the capture ratio of the ball used too.
Sturdy seems a little like a double-edged sword, you can survive a blocky hit but if you can't kill your opponent (especially since many Sturdy users are fairly slow) then it's moot.
If I recall there were like.. two gender difference Pokemon in Unova, being Unfezant and Frillish/Jellicent line.

Jellicent... I only discovered its female form when I was innocently browsing Serebii one day... and kinda loved it... Missed opportunity.
Sturdy pissed me off. Since half my team were pwning them some rock types (which most Sturdy-havers are) it was just annoying. Not making anything difficult, just pissing me off.
Critical catches are just critical hits - increasing your chances but you can still fail. Still, at least it was on a PRETTY ABSOL, Dani.
