I was pretty sad to see they had ditched the wonderfully good Poketch (and to a lesser extent the Pokegear) and replaced it with this seemingly... Hm, not sure what. I've learnt to adapt to it now but if I could go back to having the c-gear as a type of app on a Poketch i'd do so in a heartbeat.
On the positive side, it does have some alright features. The Xtransceiver is worth a laugh or two with nearby friends as you can alter your voice to high/low and do all sorts of picture doodles on your friends face (Providing you have a DSi). The passer by mode isn't too bad either as when I was playing White I could have a really good spy on what Morri and her family were doing. It was actually quite surprising how much detail it went into.
However, the one and only TRULY good feature I loved about the c-gear was the infra red connection. Doing trades was effortless. Just save and then connection with your friend and voila, you're off! No need to bother checking in at the local Pokemon Centre. In the future games I hope they keep something similar but knowing them; likely not.
All in all, the C-Gear only really shines if you have people within the vicinity of you. Otherwise it falls really flat on its face and you don't get nearly as much enjoyment from it.

That's my issue with it. I just haven't used it at all so I couldn't really comment on it. It sounds fantastic with the swift trading and all but I've got no use for it atm since no one I know has B/W Sad story, I know,

Perhaps when Cam gets it you can get some more amusement out of it. I think the Poketch had far more infinite use to a single player. All those apps were really useful. I also miss having an eff off big clock on the bottom screen to see what time it is. I know the C-Gear has one but it's not the same.
I guess that's what you get when you develop two titles at the same time.

Yeah... Just a month and a bit to go I feel like it could have been a part of a PokéTech kinda thing if they wanted it to and it would have been much better that way. The Day Care checker was ridiculously useful and I miss having a massive digital clock telling me I should go to bed

Yeah, those huge digits were pretty handy for me too in going bed. ;D Thing is, with the daycare care checker, I know its not the same but if you do your cycling along the long route where the daycare is and you're waiting for an egg, eventually the old geezer shouts out your name. Made me chuckle a few times. Other than physically being on that route you can't really tell which sucks.

... That sounds amazing! Still, I'd much rather I'd have the day care checker. If I had a penny for the number of times I randomly checked the Day care Checker to see that I'd left random pokémon in there and wouldn't know about it if not... I'd have enough money to bribe game Freak to put a PokéTech into every pokémon game they make from now until forever.

I don't know anyone around who has a DS, let alone B/W, and since it released after I finished school it kinda ruined the aspects of the C-Gear for me x(
