So there's a new series being aired over in the U.K. and i've actually been giving them a watch. I loved Christopher Eccleston's return as the Doctor and kind of lost interest when David Tenant was about. I tuned in now and again for a few episodes, the one with the Master replicating himself over everyone was pretty good. However, now there's a new Doctor, Matt Smith, the youngest actor to portray the Doctor. I was a bit apprehensive at first as they seem to get younger and younger with each passing actor. From what i've seen though he's definitely nailed it pretty well and he plays his eccentricity just right. Those Silence aliens were goddamned creepy though. Definitely made me think twice about seeing things out the corner of my eye again. Good to see the series still going strong after all these years. I used to love the old ones (Despite the monsters obviously being a man in a suit >_>). Just got the current one with the wax people in the playing in the background right now.

I've noticed this series is getting quite adult (River said "I'm quite the screamer... but I don't want to spoil that for later"!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!) I was shocked. Really liking this change, too. Also, the Silence made me a bit too terrified for a children's show.

It is definitely more adult in tone. It's a nice change and I guess it gives them a bit more ground to work with. At least it's overtly blatant. Like, if you're a kid you'll probably not get the reference. ;D What I love about the Silence (and other monsters they've come up with) is that, it's very original and not an immediate fear you'd think of. The idea of seeing them and then totally forgetting you saw them when you turn away is frightening. I could've sworn they had something about OAPs with aliens living inside them. Never saw the episode but the idea made me laugh pretty hard.
