Right when the ball landed squarely on Budew's chest, it started awake. Before it could react, the ball had opened and absorbed the Pokemon. Budew was frightened to have woken up from a somewhat brief nap and find itself in a tiny little space, dark yet... odd.

The ball suddenly stopped dead in its shaking. Eggbert grinned. "Easy battle. Didn't even have to really scramble eggs!" he said cheerfully, ready to be returned to the safety of his own little sanctuary. Then a loud POP jolted the Exeggcute back to reality.

Instead of dinging, as per the usual da-da-da captured noise. The Poke Ball popped open, and sent the now alert Budew back into the battle, blinking. It focused its eyes on Joey and Exeggcute and puffed itself up. "BUDEW!" it scolded them, using choice words as it went on a mini rant.

Bending down, the Budew's two vines unwrapped themselves and were held open, much like a pair of hands. Eggbert frowned as a green aura began to materialize around him. "Yo boss, not feelin' so sunny side up," he remarked, wincing as Budew unleashed its absorb attack to revitalize itself - with what little it could steal from another Grass type.

Budew tottered weakly, but stared defiantly at the human and his companion, no longer totally fearful. It was determined not to go back in that ball.

[The REAL Joey]

With the ball snapping wide open and thus becoming of no use, Joey scowled to himself. "Should've known my capturing spree wouldn't go without any hitches. Oh well, that's that. I got some balls to spare anyway..." He looked into his bag and looked at the plentiful supply. His eyes shifted back up to his egg cluster Pokemon and toyed over what to do next. If it popped out then it could do with some more weakening. "Ehh... Not good. What to do..." The ball that was rolling around in Joey's palm fell back into the bag and Joey decided on ordering another move for his Pokemon. He dramatically pointed towards the Budew but was interrupted due to Eggbert's psychic ability. "What's that boss? You want us to make it sleep some more? No worries, we'll eggsaust it with Hypnosis!" Joey growled under his breath but decided to let it pass. This telepathic link wasn't actually that bad, it reminded him of his battle against that one kid in Mt.Silver. He just seemed able to communicate the move without moving an inch. Now that was some skill.

Eggbert nodded and focused his mind on producing the sleep inducing rays. With glowing eyes, the Exeggcute sent out another spray of hypnotic rays right at Budew, who was still unable to see them.

They struck home again. Budew felt its body become heavy, and its mind produce an excess of melatonin. With another wide yawn, the bud flopped down on its side, snoring softly while it dreamt of things far removed from the battle.

"'Eggs' marks the spot!" Eggbert quipped, bouncing happily. He watched the Budew carefully this time, not trusting it to wake up and be a bigger pain in the shell than usual. O'course, he could always beat it around a little more and make sure it became docile enough to accept its fate.

Which was to be captured, darnit!

[The REAL Joey]

Budew falling asleep for the second time made Joey sigh in relief. Given the chance the little blighter would likely try and flood the air around them with paralytic spores. Something of which Joey was starting to get really infuriated with. "I swear... If I become paralysed from the neck down at 30 or something i'm gonna sue that old hag and these Budew... If you could sue Pokemon of course." Putting that thought aside, he gazed at the Budew. It was still too much of a gamble he wasn't prepared to take by hitting it again. "C'mon boss, eggsperiment with us a little!" Joey sighed and shook his head. "Can't risk it. I've got to capture as many Pokemon as possible." His mind had been decided; Joe had already withdrawn another spare Pokeball from his bag and launched it in a curveball motion, hitting the Budew accurately on its head. The Budew was once again absorbed into the ball and the sense of unease returned. "C'mon... Lady Luck's gotta be smiling down on me this time!" Muttered Joey under his breath as he watched with baited anticipation.

The Budew was soon secured into the pokeball for the second time, bouncing to the ground. It tottered once. Twice. Three times.

DING!!!

The capture was a success! Eggbert grinned widly and jumped for joy, facing Joey. "Way to go, boss! That was eggstremely close!" he claimed. He then felt much stronger than he did before.

Eggbert grew to level 9! Eggbert wants to learn Reflect but he already knows four moves. Will you delete a move or will you abandon Reflect?

[The REAL Joey]

The much fabled click alerted Joey that he had indeed caught his second Budew. The ball, magically returned to Joey's palm and he grinned. Not bad work for his second capture. A thought also crossed Joey's mind. Since being in Johto he has only really caught Meowth for himself. All the other Pokemon he has obtained through gifts, trades and stealing. Looked like he was beginning to get the hang of this capturing lark. He pelted the ball up in the air and caught it with his hand a few times before deciding to check what the Pokemon was like having caught it. The ball opened and out popped his newly caught Budew. It looked around sweetly almost confused as to what just happened but Joey knelt down and waived its confusion off. "No worries, sorry for attacking you back then but I needed to in order to capture ya." He looked at his other ball containing Budew and sighed. "Felt kinda sorry for pinching your friend there. Least this way you two can be close or I can hand you off to a trainer that'll look after you."

The Budew chirped cutely but remained fairly shy at Joey's words and before he could do anything else. Narcissa popped out of the Pokeball and nudged the other Budew. It seemed as if the new Budew was constantly living under Narcissa's shadow and was developing a severe inferiority complex over it. Despite this, it still had amiable feelings towards Narcissa, who, in turn, also seemed to reciprocate some feeling of friendship. Joey mumbled to himself and recalled back Narcissa. He spoke to the Budew and smiled softly. "Eh, your friend's pretty up herself... Don't feel like the ugly duckling okay though, yeah? I'm sure one day you'll grow up to be a beautiful Roserade." As it listened to Joey's little speech, its buds seem to lighten up slightly and it began swaying cheerfully. "Heh, how's about we nickname ya Rosalie for when you do grow up to be big and beautiful?" The Budew smiled cheerfully, giving an insight into its newly formed optimistic personality. Joey recalled it and nodded his head. No more Budews for the time being. Despite how uncommon they were he was starting to think any more of them would besot his party with too many lively personalities.

Before he could figure out which Pokemon to hunt for next, Eggbert chimed in with the fact he had learnt a new move from levelling up. "Boss! Boss! BOOOOSSSSS!" Yelled the telepathic egg Pokemon to get Joe's attention. "Listen, listen. We may be a bunch of hard boiled eggs and our shells may not be all they're cracked up to be but... With this dainty new move, Reflect, we can harden our defences! Whaddya say boss?!" Joey thought about the possibility of Reflect. He had heard of the move being used to surprising success when fighting strenuous battles. "Alrighty, let's say you forget Uproar. I'm sure we can relearn it later on in our journey at some point."

With Eggbert at his side, Joey proceeded to focus his efforts back onto finding the next Pokemon to capture. The guide informed him that Wooper were fairly common within the region. "Sounds like a good enough target..." as Joey looked up, he was startled by Eggbert's sudden cries. "OVER THERE! I've sensed one which is trying to hop off back into the water jetty. Quick, we might get it!" Without further ado, Joey scooped up Eggbert into his bag and launched himself forwards towards the Wooper. As the Wooper looked at the water in a dopey fashion, about to splash in, the sudden intrusion of Joey made it swivel its head around slowly to see what the commotion was about. Without giving it much time to think, Joey sent out his next Pokemon to weaken it for capturing. "Eon! Let's lower it's defences with a Tail Whip!" Joe's Eevee popped out of the Pokeball and wiggled its tail around cutely in an effort to make Wooper lower its guard.

As Eon did so, the Wooper managed to look towards the Eevee and watched curiously, only to lower its defense. Angered, the Wooper charged towards Eevee and inhaled deeply.

The small fox gulped slighlty and readied for the impact. The Wooper soon unleashed a Water Gun, soaking Eon and caused slight damage. "VEEE!" she cried, shaking herself off as droplets of water sprayed all over, getting off her fur.

[The REAL Joey]

The spurt of water which doused Eon was surprisingly powerful coming from such a small Pokemon. It left Eon considerably wet and no matter how much it shook it's fur, it couldn't quite dry off. Joe couldn't help but let out a small laugh at how soggy Eon was. "Ppfffftt... Sorry, Eon. You just look kinda funny with your usually buoyant fur all sodden." The Eevee sighed, not believe its luck. It looked back at the Wooper and eagerly awaited its turn to pay it back for being drenched so throughly. "Okay, Eon, let's take advantage of that lowered defence. Use Tackle!" Eon understood the order and began its fully body charge into the Wooper, hoping to hurt it slightly in the process. Joe looked fondly at Eon and remembered back to when he obtained Eon. It was back in his early days as a Kanto Biker Federation member and he stole it off a particularly nasty trainer who was using it to con trainers into trading Pokemon. Those interested would lose their Pokemon they put on offer and would fail to receive their promised Eevee.

[LUNAR]

Eon nodded in eagerness and charged at the Wooper, slamming into it with great force and caused a critical hit!!

The Wooper yelped in pain and fell backwards, shaking its head and used its Tail Whip attack to lower Eon's defense. The Eevee looked dazed for a moment as she let her guard down. She instantly shook it off and glared, puffing up her chest.

[The REAL Joey]

The exchange of two Tail Whips between the two Pokemon as well two attacks created a rather uncertain battle scenario. Both Pokemon were slightly at ease due to how cute the whip of the tail had been for each Pokemon but the fact they had also been thwarted both by a surprisingly effective attack soured things. Joey smiled to himself confidently and ordered Eon's next move. "Go! Charge in with another Tackle Eon! We're getting there!" Eon growled cutely before playfully charging into the Wooper. Unlike before this Tackle wasn't as vicious due to not being attacked in the last turn.

[LUNAR]

Eon nodded and charged at the Wooper once more, slamming into it. Once again, critical hit!! Eon was doing well! The Wooper was dizzy at the second powerful impact but shook it off, glaring once more.

The Wooper soon used Mud Sport, but the attack didn't do much. It only lowered electric attacks, and Eon wasn't an electric type.

[The REAL Joey]

The crushing impact of Eon's tackle alarmed even Joe who was surprised that his Eevee could even hit that hard. "Definitely gonna have to pay close attention to you... The rate you're going, i'm surprised your ability isn't Super Luck." Nevertheless, Joey was proud Eon was able to so boldly hit the Wooper. "Great job, Eon! You've got it down just enough for me to attempt to capture... Now..." He looked into his bag and picked a ball from his stash. With a stylish disengage of the safety lock due to his highly dexterous fingers, the ball was primed for capturing. He looked at the Wooper and gave it a curt nod while grinning cockily. "Here goes...!" With that, he launched the ball straight at the Wooper, sealing it inside. The ball fell, and began wriggling like so. Rosalie managed to escape the first attempt and even then it was asleep so Joey was uncertain of the outcome of this attempt. His chances were good though, those devastating tackles from his Eevee surely have some say in the matter.

The Wooper was soon consumed by the Pokeball as it bounced to the ground. It began to totter once. Twice. Three times.

The capture was a success! Eon grinned and jumped up and down with joy. "Vee! VEEE!!" she cried with happiness feeling more powerful than before. The Lucky Egg she was holding was taking effect and she could feel it.

Eon reached Level 10! Eon learned Sand-Attack!

[The REAL Joey]

With a third Pokemon returned to Joey's palm, he held onto the ball tightly and let out a hearty laugh. This whole capturing business was pretty fun. Perhaps if he hadn't slipped down a path of stealing and illegality then he might have taken up a job capturing Pokemon or something. With this Wooper in hand, it opened up another resistance against the Rockets as Joey knew all too well Ground Pokemon resisted the attacks of Poison types. He span the ball round in his hand before sending out Wooper to greet it for the first time as its trainer. "Hey there little fella." Waved Joey with a quick shake of the hand at the miniature little Pokemon. It looked blankly at Joey for a few moments before a dopey grin spread across its face and it cried out happily. Joey raised a concerned eyebrow before Eggbert in his bag popped out for some much needed air.

"Not to worry, boss! Wooper's are quite generally... Pretty eggstracted all the time. I guess they're slowminded and dopey." Laughing at their own pun, Joey ignored their cackles and looked at the dopey Wooper who was still smiling from moments ago. "Hm, I think i'll save nicknaming you for now. Welcome to the team all the same." He returned Wooper to his ball and tossed it into his bag which rattled Eggbert slightly. Their laughs were starting to get pretty out of control so he decided to zip his bag up for the time being. Just before the zip closed, Eggbert managed to slide in with "That's all yolks!" Joey let out a defeated sigh and shook his head. After finishing shaking, something peculiar caught his attention.

Eon seemed to be trying to tell Joey something important by tugging at his dirty jeans. Joe looked down and noticed that a new moved needed to be taught. It began dabbling at the floor and it started to create a large stream of sand in a direction. "Oh! You're trying to tell me you can learn Sand Attack?" Joey laughed at Eon's imitation of the move and decided it was best for Eon to learn it. "Alrighty, forget Helping Hand and learn Sand Attack instead." The Eon let out a cute cry of approval and was soon returned to Joey's pokeball.

What's more, something other than Eevee had also piqued his interest. Along the shallow end of the waters was a slug like Pokemon, the likes of which he had never seen before. "What the..." He stared at intently and was happy to see it wasn't going anywhere, any time soon. "Oh boy! This must be a rare one... Time to rake in some cash for this!" He grabbed the guide and finally looked up what it was. "A Shellos huh...?" He smirked and picked out his next Pokemon. A ball entered the battlefield and out popped Joey's Plusie. The Plusie looked around meekly, afraid it would be tossed aside like it was in its first battle but its ears picked up when it saw the size of its new opponent. Still feeling guilty for using her as bait in his battle with the hag, Joe decided to cheer her on. "Come on Plusie! You can do this! Use Thunder Wave on the Shellos! That way we can weaken it some." Plusie cried out happily at being given an order and focused its electric energy into paralysing the opponent.

Plusie nodded and static electricity surrounded her body. Sending the electric bolts at the Shellos, it became paralyzed! The Shellos was caught by surprise and was unable to move!

It glared harshly at the Plusle, frustrated that it wasn't able to attack this turn. Plusie giggled and stuck her tongue out at the slug, causing its anger to grow.
