Arriving from the Conifer Crest

By this point, Venom was so close to Goldenrod City that he could already hear the hustle and bustle of the big city. He could even see it in the distance through the trees, as the branch he stood on gave him the altitude he needed to do so. Both of these factors did well to excite Venom even further, but not so much so that he'd leave this part of the Ilex Forest without taking a moment to stop and see the sights. Primarily, the Moss Rock. Naturally, Venom knew the stories about this rock and its power to help Eevee evolve into Leafeon. And although no one really knew how this worked, Venom decided to classify it as another of nature's miracles. And so, after a good five minutes of admiring this miracle of nature, the Poison type trainer was off on his way once again, getting closer and closer to his destination with every single jump he made.

OOC: Another area has come and gone. And now it's time for Venom to move on to the Evergreen Range.

Coming from Moss Rock

Upon entering the new area, Aphrodite and her Pokemon would take a couple of minutes to admire that rather interesting rock coated in moss. The young fairy-type specialist found the rock to he somewhat enchanting, but also kind of disturbing at the same time. All of the moss blanketing the rock causing her skin to inch just a bit from staring at it too long.

Penelope made it to the next part of the forest. There was a giant rock with moss growing on top of it. She read the note, and since she didn't have a Leafeon, she decided to take a break here again. She touched the moss rock firmly and thought about the Celebi from earlier, then suddenly, she found herself elsewhere, where she got herself a Dwebble, Chinchou, and Horsea. (I can't find the original, original first post where she teleported to the whirled islands, but this convo post will do.)

Then, she found herself teleported back in the forest right where she left. (I also can't find the last post. Might be in a raid thread.) While being teleported back into a town, would be nice, but this wasn't bad. She wasn't sure what happened, maybe it was a Pokemon, but could it be a legendary Pokemon? She wasn't hallucinating as she had new Pokemon with her now.

She stood extremely confused, as she tried to remember what happened. She didn't even brought all of her Pokemon over, as some of her Pokemon were sent out before she was teleported.

Before she returned in a flash of light though, her Pokemon were left by themselves for a little bit.

“Hey, where did she go?” Luigi cried after the light teleported the trainer.

"Uh, I don't know, I was blinded by the light." The Chingling responded bluntly.

Gonna try to retcon a few encounters/ battle where "Penelope wasn't present but was at Whirled Islands", so the Pokemon were "defending chikorita" while getting to know it and waiting for her to teleport back. Also planning to catch some of them, but we'll also try "befriending until human came back with Pokeballs" aka when I'm done encounter here.

Ilex was usually a very calm place, at least when you didn't count the rare roaming trainer who sometimes staggered past, desperate to find the way out again. Cascoon had known how to stay hidden as wurmple and had avoided all those silly troubles by keeping hidden as a cocoon, which had the added affect that the birds didn't notice it either.
It had fully planned on continuing to do so when Penelope came crashing into the clearing, stomped around the rock and threw herself all over it, humans were always so noisy, why couldn't they relax a bit. Penelope didn't see it and she probably would have continued peacefully, if she hadn't suddenly disappeared in a bright flash.

The cascoon's eyes widened, what had just happened?! What was this kind of trickery, where had she gone to? Could it happen to anyone else around here too?! It had to know, what if it happened to it then all its carefully hiding would be all for nothing.
It plopped down from the above, as lightening from a clear sky, although that was mostly due to all the fog which was clinging to the areas between the trees. "What happened! What happened to your human! Tell me!" It demanded to know, it was a risk to show itself like that but this was worth the risk. It needed to know how to avoid it.
Luigi got taken by surprise and his first answer to the questions was to leap forward and slam into the cascoon, sending it rolling over the grass and into the moss covered rock. It didn't move from how it landed and its cocoon shimmered as it toughened up.

Cascoon [Lv 15] is also attracted to what had happened.

"Uh, you welcome!" Chingling rang as she dropped off the Cascoon. She wasn't sure why the bug type's tune changed to a bit hostile, but it was better than the cocoon Pokemon saying nothing!

The Shroomish turned toward the psychic type as he wondered what to do next. Well, there wasn't much wondering, as he would have to keep looking around. "Thanks for the help! That Cascoon was a toughie to talk to! I'm glad you were able to talk to it easily."

"No worries. I am going to rest my head for a bit. Can you ask around in the mean time?" the psyhicc type floated on top of the Moss Rock and rested itself.

The Shroomish voiced an agreement, and began wobbling on his little feet to look around the area. He wasn't sure if the Pokemon in this area were friendly, so he would have to tackle them down to ask them questions in case they decided to run away super fast!

Wandering around and near the moss rock, many pokemon's eyes would fall upon them. Most would stay hidden, masked by the fog, but eventually, there would be little crunches on the leaf litter, as if someone was trying to follow or get closer. A twig would snap close by the shroomish and he would blindly run into the fog to protect them from a threat...only to bounce off some cottony fluff. There was the shimmer of green energy and Shroomish would feel marginally weaker but... neither did much damage to the other.

"Huh. You don't usually see shroomish in these parts," observed the fluffy pokemon. It would flounce closer to peer at the shroomish, leaves fluttering. The white cottonee was hard to see distinctly in the dense fog, its form blurred at the edges, seemingly melding in places with the background. It peered at Bell. "And I've never seen something like you before. What are you?"

The land opened up before her, sending the network of trees that once densely populated evey space around her to scatter in sparsely patchworked spots. Mishu smiled, slowing her steps alongside her team as she studied the open terrain where the tall grasses grew larger and thicker on the open landscape, rivaling that of some of the tallest people around. She sighed, pulling out one of her short swords, and turned to the tall grasses that rose up to her stomach and hacked away at their green blades, managing to carve a path forward until they died down to smaller patches that were easy to walk upon.

“This has been quite a travel, hasn’t it?” She commented softly and cast a warm smile towards her companions, who kept up with her each step of the way. Ika nodded and floated just above her trainer’s head. She carefully searched the nearby trees for signs of danger as Kumaneko shot through the sparse patchwork of trees, swinging her arms wildly as she wailed at the top of her lungs. “I will make you suffer!” She huffed, jumping on top of a few scattered leaves and ripping them to shreds with her sharp nails. “Thought you could sneak up on us?! Hah! Think again!” She cried, before launching herself full forces at some blades of grass that swayed in the open breeze.

Kumaneko, instead, ran smack! headfirst into a large moss covered rock. She stumbled backwards, shaking her head as her skull pounded and the room seemed to spin around her. Who tricked her?! They would pay! “You thought you were clever?! Hold still…!” She barked, slamming her fists into the air at invisible foes. Ika laughed quietly underneath her voice before floating over to check her friend over carefully. “Hey…hey! Watch it! Oww, careful! Are you…WATCH IT KUMANEKO, IT’S JUST ME!...Ugh! Are you ok?” She asked, struggling to avoid Kumaneko’s strong swings. The small black-and-white cub huffed and shook her head, before slamming her butt on the ground with her arms crossed over her chest. “I’ll find whoever tricked me and make them pay…mark my words!” Kumaneko snapped angrily.

The shouting and charging around by the pancham didn't go unnoticed, although the reactions to it might go unnoticed by Mishu and her team. There were no aggressive pokemon hiding in the trees, and the ones in the grass were quick to scamper away, several red mushrooms would almost get sucked into the deep grass as their hosts ducked down and carried them away. A few feathers would drift calmly down, left behind as their former carrier had lost them when they flapped away, and gentle swaying of the grass would hint to where timid bugs would crawl away, while a bush had a pair of striking green leaves which was different than the rest it had, and which were still as ever.

As Kumaneko rammed the rock, a pair of red mushrooms popped up from the grass again, and as Ika tried to figure out if her friend was alright, the mushrooms began their trek towards the rock in a leisure pace.
The paras crawled up on the rock and looked down at them proudly, it pointed from Ika to Kumaneko with a claw and then stomped the rock. "This is my moss! My dinner! Do not touch it!" It demanded and looked pleased with itself, obviously they would agree, apologize and hurry on.

Bell and Luigi debated amongst themselves after hearing the Cottonee's response. It looked like this Cottonee didn't know anything either. They looked away from the Cottonee, as they resumed their thoughts.

"I don't think anyone here knows anything." Luigi raised his opinion.

"It was only a Cascoon and a Cottonee! We should keep asking!" Bell replied.

"Maybe we should go over to where the shrine was?"

"I don't know where it is." The psychic Pokemon floated upward to "shrug".

"Okay! But we should stick together in this fog, I can hardly see you, but you can keep finding me."

"I can hear and sense when you're talking with the Pokemon here, it's not hard." The bell Pokemon snickered bluntly.

"Okay, Miss Psychic, can you sense where the next Pokemon we can ask?" The grass type was getting tired talking to his contemporary companion.

"That way!~" The Bell sang, and turned her body side ways toward where the next one would be. The mushroom Pokemon immediately ran toward that direction to leave the conversation as well. "Waait Upp!"

Kumaneko narrowed her charcoal eyes suspiciously at the small orange bug as they passed through. The forest was a mess, though things seemed to relax after they’d managed to chase away most of the spooky spirits that hung around Ilex and settled their impossible boss once and for all. The bugs were mouthy, but no different than some of the ones she’d faced before and easily taught to mind their business and leave her be in her past. “You’re lucky my friend handled you and not me.” Kumaneko huffed gruffly, before turning away from Paras and toddling after her friends.

Mishu led the charge away from the giant, mysterious rock. “You know…” She hummed underneath her throat as she pulled out her dex and flipped through the compiled lists of research related to Eevee and is evolutions. “There’s been some strong links to Leafeon and mossy rocks even where it was first discovered in Sinnoh.” It wasn’t that far of a stretch to suggest that this moss covered rock had the same sorts of properties tied to it. Perhaps it was an abundance of moss or the combination of a large piece of granite covered in the plant matter that helped unlock the evolutionary path for Eevee?

It was something that they could study later, though. Ika nodded towards the small Paras as the team continued their trek away from Moss Rock and towards their next destination inside of Ilex. “I promise to make sure she knows. Thank you for being so understanding.” Ika wasn’t scared of the small bug by any means. Though, sometimes just because you could beat something up, it doesn’t always mean you should. There would be very little for her to gain from the experience, and they had been the ones to disturb the small bug in the end. It was only right if they continued on, instead, and left it be.

Bell did indeed sense a new pokemon in the gloom. There were many living in this vibrant forest full of life. However, the fog made it hard to tell who exactly they were attempting to contact until it was a little too late. Otherwise, they might not have rushed so eagerly to greet their new 'contact'. Lugi scuttled through the leaf litter after Bell, slamming face-first into a large tree in their path, the low fog concealing it until it was too late for the mushroom to change course. BAM! 

The tree shivered and from its branches fell a cascoon. Said cocoon let out a long, upset yelp as it was thrown from its sleeping spot onto the ground below. 

"HEY! WHAT DID YOU DO THAT FOR?! SOME OF US ARE TRYING TO SLEEP HERE YOU BUMBLING KLUTZ!"

Clearly, it was a very unhappy cascoon.

The Chingling chimed in before Luigi can answer. "Of course, she flew away like I said! I hope she enjoyed her life somewhere else now. If you will be patient, I will slowly move you back to the tree."

The psychic Pokemon then hummed, and slowly moved the already immobile Cascoon back up in the tree. Afterward, Luigi waited until the Chingling's eyes stopped glowing light blue to resume his thought. "Now what?"

"Now we'll look for another one to ask, duh. Depending who you're talking to, I might take over next one, okay?" She rang.

"No, not really, why don't you be the one to talk next time since you're so smart?"

"Hey, I think there's someone moving over there!" 🔔 yapped and turned, trying to distract the Shroomish. The grass type hurriedly look over from the fog, and trying to locate the next interviewee.

POOF!

A cloud of yellow spores FILLED the air on impact. Because just as the fog seemed the lift, the ground seemed more...slippery than before...and Lugi found it impossible to slow down once he charged off in search of someone else to interview. He failed to slow down once he saw a cottonee minding its own business, hopping along, and suddenly, they collided in a spray of startling spores. The cotton ball rolled and used its leaves to flutter itself upright.

<What hit me...? Oh. It's you. I have heard about you from my clan! They said a strange lot of pokemon was wandering around by the moss rock, looking for where their trainer had gone! Is that you? Are you the ones whose human disappeared in a bright light?> The pokemon seemed cheerful and talkative.

Chingling Astonish on Encounter

"A kidnapping! But we're in the middle of the forest!" The Shroommish gasped in astonishment as he tried to process how would this be a possibility.

Bell floated over as she watched the Cottonee disappeared in its own hypothetical. Maybe this Cottonee was deep into dramas and fictions. "Okay, that Cottonee need to get its head out of.... the forest. There's no way an Abra would come to kidnap the human. Now, why do we keep running into Cascoon and Cottonee? I'll look for the next one to ask. In fact, I'll go to the opposite side of this Moss Rock to ask!" The psychic type chimed in and rang her decision, in which the grass type had decided to take a short break and just follow along the Chingling.

"Hey wait up! I'm coming after you and I can't float! Why would the opposite side of this Moss Rock makes a difference though?" Luigi hollered after the sound Pokemon. "And don't float too high or too far, I can't see you that far!"

(The narrator) He also hadn't forgot the sleeping Chikorita, so he uh... somehow put the other grass type on top of his head and carefully moved after the Chingling.

It was the darkness. It was the night. It knew the evil in all men's hearts and embraced its call. So many paras were just mindless little drones. Just...pitiful bugs. But this paras, it knew the Truth. It knew its own Fate. And it refused. It would become stronger so that the spores would not take over its mind, even if it meant treading the fine line between survival and destruction. It would shape its body and soul with as much destruction as it took to save itself from doom. 

So it watched. It waited. And when two bumbling fools wandered into its path, talking about kidnappings and clans, it knew it was time to strike!

THE PARAS DROPPED FROM THE TREES!

It sliced a powerful scratch down the back of the chingling and landed on the ground with a THUMP. Back to its feet it sprung, claws raised with fury. 

"I will be your end!"
