Ika smiled as she placed the small chrysalis back up in the tree. She was careful, making sure that Silcoon was properly placed on a sturdy branch that could support its weight. “How is this? Is this a good spot for you?” Ika asked gently. She wanted to know that she chose the best place that would make the Pokemon the most comfortable while it awaited its next evolution. Though they got off on the wrong foot, she meant no ill will even if Silcoon had just tried to curse them. “You don’t think your blessings would have caused us some distress and pain?” Ika giggled, finding it kind of funny how Silcoon didn’t see it the way she did. Kumaneko rolled her eyes and flared her nostrils as she turned away from both her team member and the small white bug. She was meant to be fending off would be attackers and showing them just why they shouldn’t mess with her. “If the threat is over with, can we move on?” The small bear snapped with a soft growl. Mishu reached down and tried to pet her to console her, but Kumaneko quickly shoved her trainer’s hand away with her small paws. She didn’t need her trainer to treat her like this! She was a strong and noble warrior – one that all would come to understand and know not to cross one day! She wasn’t some cute bear that needed pets and reassurance!
“Kumaneko, it’s alright.” Mishu tried to speak to her softly and kindly, before straightening herself up once more. The black and white panda raced off, dashing through the tall grasses without a second thought and hardly a care. Mishu raked her ebony fingertips through her blue hair and sighed softly to herself as she followed slowly and carefully. Sometimes, trying to gain the trust of her Pokemon and teaching them to follow her recommendations because she meant well and was well versed in what might be best was…a tedious thing. It took time, and patience. Understanding of her Pokemon’s own wills and letting them come to terms in their own ways. She couldn’t expect them to always see eye to eye with her.
Ika floated just above and frowned. How was it that by helping another Pokemon out and aiding to its needs, especially when her trainer had instructed her to do so, she’d upset her own teammate? Kumaneko made no sense sometimes and caused the floating psychic squid to feel as though she couldn’t win even if she tried. Mishu noticed that Ika was upset and stopped along their trails to follow their little bear companion. “Ika, you did a wonderful job helping Silcoon out. I appreciate you helping it out.” Ika, instead, stared off after her friend and crossed two tentacles over each other. Mishu followed her gaze and raised an eyebrow curiously, before adding softly. “We won’t lose Kumaneko, I promise. She’s just…pretty strong willed, I’d say.”
How could Mishu truly understand what upset her, though? She wasn’t worried about them losing the other Pokemon in the deepness of Ilex Forest. She was worried about what her friend had said and how she acted. Kumaneko wanted to fight even when Silcoon wasn’t posing that much of a threat. What kind of Pokemon would want to attack another who could barely stand on their own to ward off their attacker? And why was Kumaneko acting like she was sore with her all because Ika asked her to help pick the strange barbs off Mishu’s outfit? “That’s not the issue.” She sighed softly and followed Mishu as they continued on their trek through Majestic Grove.

Coming from Forest Shrine, Penelope found herself in a part of the forest where the trees were less dense. She stretched her arms wide and breathed easier compared to the crowded and damp mushroom area. Her Skiddo and Bellsprout were also galloping and gleefully bleating happily at the easier ground. Well, Bellsprout don't bleat, but definitely was humming. However, the air still felt uneasy, and it didn't take them too long to encounter a wild Pokemon also living in the forest. This one certainly was not a mushroom Pokemon, and she was still indecisive if she was glad to move on from that damp and fungi infested area. OOC: ENCOUNTER TIME

This was the type of forest that felt alive. It seemed like things were watching you as you moved throughout the paths, both hidden and plain to see. The question always was, were the watching eyes friendly? Were the malicious, or just simply curious? Enough humans came through this forest and randomly spaced intervals, that the surrounding wildlife easily got used to their presence. That didn't mean that they were always content with the interruptions, though, and more than one altercation has occurred in these hills and fields as a result of it. The forest would seem like it wanted to battle itself, as the bushes and shrubs shook before Penelope. It was rather simply explained, though, when the wild Pokemon jumped out of said bushes, looking like it was ready for some kind of challenge. Level 15 Oddish challenges you, please go Here for your battle.

ooc: going to Ethereal Lakeplease lock and archive the battle thread Even though it was raining and the Azumarill naturally liked rainy weather to pop out of her Pokeball on, facing the Oddish was nothing to this tough and adorably cute rabbit. The jolly and relaxed hare swished her splashy tail in the air as she hopped close enough to the Oddish, and sent it flying back to Camp Sprouts. Penelope laughed as this was just a silly little Oddish, and not a Foongus. Once she finished laughing at this change of pace, she moved toward another part of the forest, where it was still raining!

Coming from Twilight GladeComing back from the area with shimmering light shining through the trees, Penelope made her way back to this part of the forest as she was familiar with it. Except this time it felt more ominous with the presence of the ghost haunting the area. They stopped to look around again, as she wasn't sure where it would show up this time, but she was sure her Azumarill would come at them like a splashy wrecking ball. The crew walked around the soft ground once again, enjoying the rain cleansed air once again. The refreshing air would be good enough to cleanse her nose from that stinky swamp from earlier. Skiddo spotted some fresh grass and tore some off as he began chewing slowly. OOC: le wait spoopy ghost

The smell of the swamp might have been washed away by the rain and the new start to the day, but a new stench was now appearing. Mixed in with the smell of fresh foliage and animals, a gas-like smell became stronger. It was as if the source of the smell was approaching Penelope and her friends, threatening to suffocate them with its intensity. From the shadow of a tree emerged a lone orb, floating in a ball of noxious purple gas. Two piercing eyes and a maniacal grin loomed down at Penelope and her team, the Gastly sticking its tongue out mockingly and jeering at them. "Turn back, or you'll be trapped here as a ghost - just like me!" the Gastly hissed at nobody in particular. Its big eyes glanced from one target to another, from Penelope to Skiddo and then back to Penelope. Any of them would make a fine target for its twisted antics and malevolent desire for violence. The wandering spirit Gastly (Level 18) has appeared in your path! Battle it hereWeather: Rain

With yet another one of Azumarill's purification ritual, the Gastly was sent flying into orbit with the water type's powerful Aqua Tail. The group watched as the gas ball flew across the air into the sky, where the darkness from the stormy rain made it disappeared quicker than usual. The ghost type wasn't seen anymore, and the spooky chill in this part of the forest was restored as it gradually warmed back up with a splash of cold rain to go. With this area completed, the group continued on to the next part of the forest. As the group entered Majestic Grove, they studied their surroundings carefully. These spirits seemingly lurked behind every tree and around every corner. Mishu kept Chikorita tucked close to her chest with a soft frown each time the small plant-like dinosaur would squirm or squeal from the pains inflicted on her body. Time was running thin for the troupe. They needed to hurry along their path towards this mysterious shrine if they wanted to save this sickly Pokemon from the effects before it was too late. “Keep your wits about you.” Mishu commented through a narrowed gaze that searched the pouring rains and dark overcast for any sign of malevolence that lurked in the shadows.
Ika shivered as she stopped along the path to notice the large, majestic grove carved around the tree lines in the heart of Ilex Forest. It was different now as all the Pokemon that should have naturally inhabited it seemed to have taken off in different directions, possibly cowering from whatever lurked near them. Thunder roared in the heavens, followed by bright yellow streaks of electricity temporarily illuminating the dark overcast for brief seconds. Surely many of them cowered from the inclement weather, but to miss out on nearly all of the forest’s usual inhabitants felt…strange. “Something’s not right here either.”
Kumaneko stopped just underneath her floating friend and nodded grimly. “This is what’s it's like back in my old home.” She added, studying the dead trees devoid of the usual life that would find themselves comfortably nestled within their thick trunks. The grass buckled and swayed only from the powerful gusts of winds that shook them, giving away only that nothing else possibly lurked within their depths. A strange occurrence. Abysmal in comparison of life the usually sprung up in such an overabundance of flora like Ilex. “And it won’t get better if we don’t stop every last ghost.” She hummed through flared nostrils and narrowed eyes, searching with Mishu for the next apparition. Ika was idyllic. A happy Pokemon who may have never had to face such ungodly hardships as Kumaneko once did.
“I…” Ika struggled with a shake of her head as the rain bounced off her squishy body and rolled down her sides. There was no replacing the truth that spread through Kumaneko’s words like wildfire. “…know.” Still, something dug at her from the side, making her question these motives and what they’d done during the entirety of their trip. “But they seem almost…never ending? We’ll be here all our lives if the only answer is to seek each and every one of them out and blast them away. Maybe there’s something unleashing them like this? Causing their suffering?” She hummed softly to herself, trying to dissect the mystery even as it felt there was a key piece missing from their puzzle. Kumaneko shrugged. To her, it just seemed that eventually the spirits would thin out with enough target practice, then things could go back to the way they used to be.

Taking on the task of confronting the spirits was a difficult one. The spirits were strong and unrelenting. Anyone who chose to help the Chikorita or just try to help the forest in general, was definitely someone with strong morals and a strong heart. Sometimes that was enough, and sometimes it wasn't. Fortunately for Mishu and her team, they were proving that they had the fortitude to be successful in the face of such a challenging gauntlet that had been placed before them. Despite that, the weariness of her team and the desire to just get out of the forest was not unique to this traveler and her partners. The ghosts knew this, and they probably counted on it, in order to weaken the challengers and make them go away. Since Mishu's Pokemon were openly and eagerly looking for the spirits so that they could conquer them, the spirits, at least the trickier ones, were starting to catch on. Majestic Grove's spirit was a particularly tricky little SOB, and as the guardian Pokemon searched it out, it was just having fun playing games. Finally, two orbs seemed to materialize right behind Mishu's right shoulder, before the cloud of ectoplasm screamed in her ear. "BOOOOOO!" before disappearing for a second, and reappearing in front of the trainer. "Surrender the child! You can't help it!" it hollered, looking angry now. Wandering Spirit has appeared, battle it Here

Ika shivered as she considered the strange Pokemon’s words. They couldn’t be helped? The words were odd and ominous. Like a sense of foreboding that stung you to your core. The rain eased up, casting in a strange glow above their heads as light filtered through the thick canopy above and scattered in a miriad of directions on the grassy ground below. Why couldn’t they be helped? What terrible thing happened to cause them such pain and animosity to the living world around them? She squirmed, eyes shifting to study the grass below her floating form and grumbled slightly underneath her voice while deep in thought.
“What a strange creature.” Mishu murmured while scratching her chin. She tilted her head up to stare at the thick webwork of branches snaking around each other as their giant foliage fought for dominance over the landscape around them. Large, bushy green leaves sprouted in all directions. Faint glimmers of light bounced off the leaves and cascaded down, trickling in odd patches against her ebony skin. It was colder than she expected and a sure hint of the oncoming winters that whispered around the corners of their autumn days. At least the rains had subsided, though it was hard to tell how long she would get such a splendid break. “We should keep on towards our destination, though.”
Kumaneko studied the spot where the apparition had been. She furrowed her brows together in a thick line and growled underneath her throat. They were evil. Only pain and suffering seemed to follow wherever they appeared. Was this what it meant to be a Ghost Type? Kumaneko crossed her arms over her chest and dug her sharp claws in her dense black and white fur. How could any Pokemon find joy or fulfillment in such cruelty? They needed to be stamped out of existence, without a trace left behind in their wake. “We’ll never be like you lot!” Kumaneko fumed through gritted teeth. “I’ll rip every last Ghost apart, one by one, before I let that happen!” She meant every syllable. In her heart, she knew she would chase down every ghost she could to the ends of the earth, if it meant protecting her friends and her own kind from their disastrous ways.
Ika’s eyes widened as she followed Mishu carefully through the thick tangle of trees and overgrown bushes. “Kumaneko, you shouldn’t say that!” She choked, coughing and wheezing from the poisons that coursed through her velvety body. How could her friend wish to do harm on something just because of an existence it couldn’t even choose? It made no sense. “I said it because I meant it, Ika. They’re not like us. They’re evil. All they do is hurt others for no reason!” Kumaneko insisted, trailing behind both of them. Ika shook her head with a sad sigh. How could she help her friend better understand? “Maybe these particular apparitions, but not every Ghost Type simply because of what it is!” Ika insisted sadly.

-twilight glade-Penelope was getting closer to the forest shrine, as the weird tag she got earlier began to hummed. Continuing on her walk, she trekked through this part of the forest as well, with the cursed grass type in her arms. Either this part of the forest wasn't that memorable, or the trainer's mind was focused on the Chikorita. Her small teeanger feet moved quickly through the forest as nothing else mattered anymore. She was getting close to approach the mysterious and possessed forest shrine. -back to forest shrine-

That feeling of being watched didn't leave. Even as the shrine fell out of sight and the scenery changed around him, that sense of evil and hate just lingered like a bad case of the flu. Silas tried to shake it from his mind and dismiss it out of hand. After all, it was just some old shrine. No need to get hung up on it.
Even if Mercenary had growled at it, fur standing on end.
"Come along now, the lake is up ahead. If we continue this way, we will be out of this forest in no time." Silas said, patting his houndoom's side and looking up towards Syn. The crow was oddly quiet, not screaming about shinies like usual.
This place was...unsettling.

Arriving from the Forest ShrineThe feeling of being watched that continued to assault Silas could have just been Shinya, still traveling ten feet behind him. But then, if that was indeed the case, then who or what was still watching Shinya? Truly, the Ilex Forest wasn't nearly as kind or harmonious as the Team Skull grunt had heard. There was something downright evil about it. Evil enough to make even Shinya's skin crawl, as he didn't everything in his power to shrug off these feelings and not get left behind by Silas. It wasn't that Shinya was scared and didn't wish to be left alone in such an ominous location, but rather because he didn't wish for this other trainer to get ahead of him in terms of journey progression and achievements. That being said, Shinya still had absolutely zero desire to linger in this forest any longer than necessary. "Jeez. And people call Po Town an affront to nature. Oh, if only the Kahunas could see what's goin' on here." The green-haired trainer remarked, then chuckled a little to himself, refusing to let the ominous feelings all around him dampen his sense of humor too much. Still, Shinya couldn't help but think about it. It felt like a Ghost type Pokemon, but it also felt like something else entirely. And Shinya was no stranger to Ghost types, since Acerola also called Ula'Ula Island her home, but even she and her Pokemon never gave Shinya vibes like the ones he was getting from the Ilex Forest right now. Regardless, the Alolan trainer kept on hiking, following Silas' lead to their next destination. OOC: Next stop, Ethereal Lake.

Through the fog and gloom Silas trekked with Mercenary at his side and no doubt Shinya close behind. He kept his eyes open and alert to any sounds. Mercenary was much the same. Silas' patience had worn thin and he didn't exactly care to loiter around and play games with the ghosts, knowing full well they were capable of tricks such as poison and sleep. Knocking them out hard and fast kept his team as healthy as possible. Though King currently being poisoned was a boon. If and when the big bad showed up, he could potentially wreck it with a guts boosted raticate. It was, after all, why he gave King that flame orb to hold. So he could be strong enough to dominate longer fights.
Now...where was the shrine... Still further ahead.
Silas kept moving, only stalling when Mercenary growled and built up darkness in her maw. A split second later, she blasted a powerful dark pulse into the gloom.

Arriving from Twilight GladeYet again, Shinya was trailing close behind Silas and his Houndoom, as the two trainers were bound for the Forest Shrine and the evil Pokemon waiting for them there. Much like Silas, Shinya had just about had enough of these wandering spirits, more than ready to put them back in the ground and bring this side quest to a close. Of course, that wasn't to say that the Bug type trainer wouldn't enjoy every moment of the spirit's agony during the final showdown. After all the grief they had put the two trainers and their Pokemon through, Shinya had every intention of making their final moments as painful as possible. And to help their party navigate through the fog, Shinya decided that it was time to call Yanma back into action, grabbing her Pokeball and tossing it into the air. The Clear Wing Pokemon appeared, fluttering her wings, and flying over to her favorite spot atop her trainer's head. "Time for more destruction? I'm ready, willin', and able, boss!" Yanma said with a big smile and plenty of enthusiasm, always up for another round of destruction with her favorite human. "Glad to hear it, Yanma. Now, put those Compound Eyes of yours to good use, and find us another ghost. As soon as ya see one, blast it with your Psychic attack." Continuing to follow Silas and Mercenary's lead, Shinya gave Yanma her orders, finding it kind of ironic that some ghost types were weak against Psychic type moves of all things. "I'm all over it!" The Bug/Flying type happily declared, then used her highly sensitive eyes to see clearly through the fog. And just as Mercenary started growling, Yanma spotted yet another pair of Gastlys, immediately powering up her psychic energy and unleashing it all upon the one on the left.
