-Cypress Rest-Trying to figure out his next step, he seemed to be stumbling upon another familiar area, only this time, this area was a bit more memorable because he had been here a few times. Well, the atmosphere was still dark out, but the way the trees' density and the way the ground felt told him that this was "that" one area again. He probably could have rely his own Pokemon for help, but at most they could only help with directions, and not locate a ghost that somehow slipped his wandering in this forest. He kept on walking until he came upon some faint, stinky smell. Maybe THAT way! -Putrid Swamp-

Coming from the Cypress Rest
As Tyler and Mania made it to the entrance of the eerie wood he realized he had completely forgotten about Hollenhund still being out of his Pokeball as well. As he turned around to see if the Houndoom was still there he sure enough was just looking ahead silently as he was more interested in making sure none of the spirits got to Tyler over anything else. The dark types natural senses along with Mania's nose allowed them to detect a spirit as soon as it approached. As handy as that was however the Chikorita in Tyler's arms was the best detector of them all as it began to cry out in pain shortly after entering the eerie wood.
" I am going to guess here and say this means that another spirit is going to show up? If so at least we have an early detection system so that they will not have very much time to get the jump on us. As if that would really help them as that Gastly found out the hard way. Mania I want you to be ready again as I do believe you are about to enter round two." Mania was more than ready as the last battle had not even put a dent into her blood lust. Gastly had been nothing more than a pushover and she was not expecting most of the ghosts to put up much of a fight either.
" I am not expecting much of a fight from whatever this next spirit is either but I cannot turn down a chance to tear another spirit to bits. That first one was so easy that my claws are still thirsting for more victims to tear apart so bring on whatever wants to battle us next." Just as she finished speaking the purple fog returned enveloping the area making it impossible to see the way forward. The theatrics were again quite impressive but after the last ghost being such a wimp Tyler was far from impressed as he called the spirit out ready to have another battle.
" Evil spirits show yourselves, your friend was no match for me and I highly doubt you will fare much better but I dare you to prove me wrong. I shall eradicate all of you and save this Chikorita so that I may make quite a score on the Black Market once it is free of your curse." He then waited hoping that the spirit would have the guts to come and face him like the Gastly before.
Ooc: Waiting for the spirit encounter.

Eerie Wood certainly lived up to it's name and reputation. Hardly any life could grow here, and given the hazy roadblock that stopped any progress, something wanted Tyler and Chikorita here. Despite his bold words and strong Pokemon in tow, the woods around him didn't seem to care as black mists started to swirl around his feet before disappearing. At the trunks of some of the dead, skinny trees the mist would swirl and seem to begin to climb up them before dissipating. Something was coming, perhaps brought by the challenge uttered by Tyler or perhaps because of the presence of Chikorita. His plans to sell the Pokemon meant nothing to the spirits. They just wanted to destroy the forest, one area at a time. The fact that they had their tendrils in Chikorita only elated them in the process. A single red light seemed to blink in the distance, slowly getting closer before it would disappear. The sound of rattling bones seemed to echo through the eerie wood and the pressure of someone watching, as well as all of the fog, seemed to squeeze against the wandering party. Chikorita twitched and let out a small pained cry. The mists rose up in response, and a single Pokemon materialized in front of Tyler. A skull marked it's face and a single red, glowing eye moved inside it's apparently hollow body. Another materialized spirit, no doubt. It showed hardly any emotion aside from the grotesque glee at Chikorita's pain. It extended a ghostly appendage towards Chikorita, who began to actively writhe in place. "Delicious...." It rasped, before turning it's red eye towards Tyler without moving it's body. Without another word, it dashed forward in an attack on Tyler. The Wandering Spirit of Duskull (Level 17) has appeared! Battle here.

Mania was again displeased by how little resistance the spirits offered but she was glad that another spirit had been dealt with. Her powers grew stronger with ever battle no matter how weak her foes were. She snarled at Hollenhund as she walked past him as she had been doing all the work. He had been lazy the whole time but it did not matter to Tyler as either one could keep massacuring the spirits at this rate. Chikorita was the only thing who had to worry as there was no telling how much longer it could survive the curse. Tyler also had to keep his brother in mind knowing he would never have peace so long as Marchbaby pursued him.
It was hard for Tyler to decide to leave the Eerie Woods as they were a fantastic setting for a secret base but for now he had no other choice. " So what Arceus awful place is next? We must be getting close to the objective by now. Mania and Hollenhund do either of you see any more signs to point us in the right direction?" He asked as his Pokemon searched the area. After getting a smell of rotten wood Mania began digging in a pile of leaves and found a map. It was clear enough on one side to see where they were and their next stop. After studying the map a moment Mania knew exactly where to go next.
" If that map is correct there should be a path up ahead that will take us to the Putrid Swamp. It is the next to last stop before reaching our first objective. It is not too far away but I bet like the other stops an uninvited guest will be there to try and hinder our progress." Given the events so far Tyler fully expected another battle once they got to the swamp, though he was not worried in the least as he started looking for the path to the swamp. It did not take long to find as he laid out his plans for the next area.
" Mania you take point again. Your powers are growing by the second and you will easily overpower anything we encounter up ahead. I will be so glad to see us rid this nightmare of a forest of these pesky spirits. After this ordeal I think I will always hate their kind with a burning passion." Just as he ushered the final word the swamp came into view.

The latest section of wood was something out of a Halloween tale. As if winter had come early, the trees bore as little foliage as they could, save for their tippy tops that shrouded the area in a pitch of not quite black. Damien couldn't gaze at the canopy for long without catching a foot on an upturned root or finding a dip that was just a bit too far. Booker was finding similar difficulties in the terrain, having to lead them down a rather windy route to avoid thickets and untraversable terrain. This didn't help with the young ranger's poor sense of direction.
"I still can't get it to work right..." he fumed quietly, eyes darting between where he was walking and the pokégear at his fingertips. The convenient device was known to have difficulties without the labyrinth that was Ilex yet still he made the attempt to flip through its various map settings to try and get a bearing for their way out.
Eventually he dropped his wrist and paused a moment. "Booker, hold a second," he ordered, waiting for his pup to return to him before offering some rewarding pets for the desired behavior. From a kneel Damien surveyed the area. A lot of deadwood. A fray of discarded foliage littered the area, hiding well the various forest ground traps ready to wrench someone's ankle. "Everything looks the same..." he mumbled. The herdier under his palm huffed once, a gentle pant serenading the boy's observations. There was half a glance toward his wrist where the pokégear sat before he stood. "What do you think?"
Accompanying his question he made a gesture for the hound to sleuth. The ranger took a second to reassess his own minuscule scouting, finding neither obvious path available to them very appealing. One felt heavy and humid whilst the other, still humid, was a bit more inviting. Damien's eyes turned to his furry companion and watched the dog sniff around for a few moments before making a recommendation. Tail wagging, Booker indicated they should take the downhill turn.
"Yeah, that feels right," he agreed, turning his back to the heavier air. The pair continued their travel through Ilex.

Coming from Cypress Rest.
As Kevin and the group made their way to the next area they could not help but shake an eerie feeling that they were being watched. The area really lived up to it's name with very little noise coming from.the forest and how dark it was. Kevin did not know if it was the curse making it so dark or if it was night but something felt very wrong as he continued down the path. " Why does this place feel so eerie? I can feel the curse lingering here but it cannot be only a curse. This area should be condemned for safety reasons. I wonder why there is even a path to such an uninviting area?"
As Kevin continued to wonder how the eerie wood was still accessible Oracle could feel the remnants of the spell get a little bit stronger. They were still not in the right area but they were heading in the right direction. However the lingering curse also felt very strong in this area. " The spell has to be further ahead, the signal I feel coming from it is still too far away for it to be from this area. The curse is definitely in this area though. I can sense another spirit nearby. I cannot pinpoint it's exact location however as the curse is blocking any direct signal to it's Aura."
It was still enough information for Eiskalt to ready her claws however as she had no issue dealing with another spirit. So long as Oracle could keep track of when a spirit was nearby she could do the rest of the work. While she search for the spirit Kevin kept checking on the poor Chikorita trying desperately to keep it as comfortable as possible. He could not do much but making sure it stayed awake at least ensured it would not fall into an irreversible sleep. This curse was not something to be toyed with and Kevin wanted to get to the signal Oracle had picked up on as soon as possible.
" Whoever is out there show yourself instead of hiding like a coward. This poor Chikorita has done nothing to deserve this. I will show you no mercy unless you end this heartless curse right now." He yelled trying to draw out whatever spirit was watching them. He was in absolutely no mood to put up with their games anymore and would not hold back at all on any spirit brave enough to attack him or his team now.

Compliant with the aura guardian's wishes the ethereal shape of darkened mass faded into existence very near his person. It looked shocked. One hand outstretched as if frozen in the act of reaching into the cookie jar. "Dusssssk," the being hissed, drawing itself back a second later and looking between all the pokémon it had been caught around. The ever distant glow of a candle flickered in the depths of of its hazy skull as its attention moved from each individual, though it hung the longest on the threatening weavile. Yet, no matter how intimidating Kevin and his team was, the curse that hovered around the weak grass type was far too tantalizing a prospect. It was going to take the chance. It was only half a moment from the time it materialized, through all its flurry of looks and considerations, to the time that the ghost was lunging forward in a Hail Mary attempt at getting to the leaf pokémon. A restless spirit is interested in Chikorita! (Lv 17) Go here to battle

Eiskalt made quick work of the desperate Duskull and as the curse in the area was weakened Samantha could finally relax a few moments as her headache subsided. Oracle on the other hand had a slightly better signal of the magic they were looking for however it was still too far away from the current area. " The signal is still far away but it is slowly getting stronger. If we keep heading in this direction we should be able to find it soon." With the way forward clear Kevin and his team then made their way to the next area hoping it would be the location of the signal Oracle had picked up.

Coming from the Sombre Valley
Kevin approached the Eerie Wood with no intention to stick around. The curse still lingered in the area though not as strong as it was on his first trip through. He had already vanquished the evil spirit in the area and being in a hurry he quickly made his way through without even taking a moment to catch his breath.

Tyler made his way through the Eerie Wood again wasting as little time as possible. At some point he might have to search for Pokemon in the area but for now nothing here was worth the hassle. He continued down the path hoping it would not be much longer.

--coming from Majestic Grove"I'm sure this place is crawling with ghosts! It will be perfect for them with all those dead trees and things, and bugs too! A lot of them eat too, look at all those dead leaves, but I wonder where they are, I haven't really seen anyone moving around which is weird. A place like this should be briming with life," He mused. "Perhaps your talking is chasing them away," Astrid said teasingly and he began protesting that it couldn't be something as little as that. "Who knows, they are not used to humans in here, are they?" She argued and Ramsey went thoughtful. "Looks like the swamp part could be in that direction," Astrid said and pointed and Ramsey agreed and they went in that direction. --moving on towards Putrid Swamp--

[attr="class","tab dt-neutral"] [attr="class","tab dt-neutral"] [attr="class","tab dt-neutral"] [attr="class","tab dt-neutral"] [attr="class","tab dt-neutral"] [attr="class","tab dt-neutral"] He found himself walking faster than he really intended. As the region of deadwood and craggy fingers neared the ranger was finding his footing rather off-kilter. "Slower..." The word slipped from his lips under a panted breath. The ache in his legs was well dulled through all the adrenaline and extra coolness provided by the dampened clothing. Well, at least now that it was officially raining he wasn't quite caked with mud. Not that such a thing was top of mind as he hastily trekked through the deep wood, but it was more apparent as the foliage thinned into the bare trunks and twigs that was known famously as the Eerie Wood. How fitting.
"Perfect, this is definitely..." he paused, glancing down at the life saving device strapped around his wrist and reconsidering his words, "... progress." It wasn't exactly the vote of confidence that would win anyone over to the idea that he was definitely not lost.
Lightning illuminated the canopy, casting long shadows to the forest floor. He felt the chikorita shiver beneath his hat when the booming sound followed. He would have tried to comfort her with a gesture but that would require exposing her to the elements from the brim which now protected her instead of his head. Damien slowed his pace in order to take a more comprehensive look at his new path options, just in time to not catch a bowed root ready to catch a foot wandering by.
The area was ripe with barbs of some kind and very little color helped differentiate anything from anything else. The rain didn't help, nor the strobe effect from heaven's lights. But he kept going. He couldn't stop. He just needed to not loop back to the lake again.

As Damien stumbled his way through the dark woods, something stalked ever closer through the shadows of the trees. A singular red eye, briefly illuminated by the thunder overhead. The ghost stalked the Ranger, drawn to him and the sickly Chikorita he was carrying. The poor grass type's ailment, the curse that weakened it, was so very intriguing. Perhaps the Pokemon and the trainer would make a deceptively delicious snack. The shadows grew darker around Damien, elongating and shifting, as the spirit moved to block his path. Not wanting this interesting cursed Pokemon to get away, the Duskull emerged from the shadows, jumping out at the two in an attempt to swipe the hurt Chikorita from Damien's grasp. If they could just spook the human enough to have him drop the Pokemon, it could drag it away for itself. A restless spirit attacks! (Lv 17) Go here to battle

Arriving from the Cypress RestHaving defeated the first of what was shaping up to be an entire band of evil spirits, Venom entered a whole new area of the Ilex Forest and immediately felt uneasy. True, there were plenty of wild Pokemon around, but the atmosphere itself was very creepy. "Damn. This place sure feels haunted. Still, I can't stop now." The ninja spoke to himself, then narrowed his eyes once more, feeling like someone was watching him once again. So, he decided to forego stealth, and took a deep breath before shouting out for all to hear. "Hey, evil spirit! I know you're here! Come out and face me!" Venom's voice echoed off into the distance, but he stood his ground, showing absolutely no fear on his face or in his voice. OOC: Awaiting Wandering Spirit encounter.

The eerie woods certainly were.. eerie, the rain was pouring down and making the woods even darker and more gloom. Even to Venom's trained ears the constant drumming of the raindrops on the forestfloor, the branches and the soggy leaves made it hard to hear anything else, and everything was wet and slippery. A flutter of movement but Venom knew it too well to get surprised of it and the zubat moved in peace, most likely hunting a dry spot to rest. Venom would hear a giggle in his left ear, but when he looked he'd see nothing, should he try brush it away he'd only find air (and rain, but that was everywhere). The giggle was heard in his right ear, and now he could feel it breath in his ear too, but yet again nothing, if he tried to spot it. Something brushed his air and the giggle became a hollow laughter when he called out and demanded it showed itself. A white mask materialized in front of him, inches from his face, and one red eye moved between the two eye sockets as it watched him. Plaay? A whisper in the wind and the shadows closed in as the mask began to fade out, the laughter echoing in the darkness. A restless duskull [Lv 17] attacks! Go here to battle Rain will be in effect.
