I just came across a few articles saying Redbox has just launched their Video Game rental program at their kiosks for $2 a night. One title that is going to be rent able is Call of Duty Black Ops which my little brother wants to play (Remember Wolfy everyone) and I have no interest in. If they offer Armored Core or Ace Combat I may use it to check it out before getting them but in either case it is pretty cool you can finally rent video games from Redbox. If only Netflix offered the same type of deal since my dad subscribes to Netflix and not Gamefly althought we keep asking him to join Gamefly.

Personally, I'm subscribed to Gamefly. That and Netflix are /technically/ the same thing, using technically lightly. It's the same styling and what not. But excruciatingly pricey, just like Netflix (again). I had signed up for it only last month, and while it's a good thing n'all, it can be a little painful when you wait 3 days for your precious Dragon Age, and you get very far in it only to have it glitch up due to a massive scratch. (Luckily the XBOX keeps up with the save file, not the disk by itself, so when I got a replacement it was a relief I didn't have to start over.)
As for if you should sign up for it or not, I guess it really depends on whether you and your family is willing to pay the hefty price for it. My family was originally going to opt for Live instead of Gamefly, since I wanted to be able to talk with my friends (After the Wii, I can't stand singular playing only. I have to be able to be talking to my friends/playing with them or else it drives me bonkers).
However, we discovered that Windows gives out deals n'what not for XBOX Live. We got our first 2 months for 2 bucks, and the guy that we called for help on getting Live back up told us that whenever we see a deal like that, even if it's still half way through our original month, that if we just pay for that when we see it, it tacks on and we don't have to pay at the end of our month, getting another month for a buck or two. It's really a great deal, and we're very happy he told us.
So if you just use that strategy, you can easily pay for both. Or at least, in my case. If it were me, though, I'd drop Netflix and switch for Gamefly. My father has 3 DVDs out at one time, and he was kind enough to give me one of his slots so I could watch what I wanted. But really, I've seen most of the animes they have on there, and now it's a bit boring. Though I like mooching off his account on XBOX Live so I can watch different movies with the boys. Just a random thought, but Batman n' the Red Hood or whatever its title is is GOOD. Joker is so stellar~
In the end, it's really just an opinion matter, where your family stands on it, whatnot. Usually the disks I get from Gamefly are very well kept, even the Black Ops surprisingly, since GameStop always has really badly damaged Black Ops disks, whereas I have had nothing but bad times with the Redbox in the past. In the end, my family opted for Netflix instead of Redbox, and I doubt we'll have any better luck with video games.
Of course I'm just extremely biased to Gamefly because you can buy the games for half of what you would get at any other video game store. I wouldn't know if Redbox has this feature or not for their upcoming videogames, but it's always a plus to find a game you really enjoy and want to keep instead of just rent out and send back when you're done. Especially a game where there are multiple endings/opening/quests/a HUGE world to quest through and whatnot. Just food for thought
Yeah so that's my stand on it. You needn't take any of it to heart or whatever, just thought you might want to know a bit about it, in case you are thinking about getting it/convincing your dad. If I repeated anything, sorry :T I'm bad when it comes to rambling on about something/spouting off stupid junk. So yeah.
