The secret to happiness [F]

After having a rather creepy encounter with the monks of Sprout Tower back in Violet City, Sharada decided to do a little bit of back tracking, or rather, escape to somewhere a little safer. As her feet patted lightly against the dirt path, the sound of a faster paced walk echoed between her own. Rather than having her signature golden Swablu perched on her shoulder, Sharada had decided to spend some quality time with her Cubone, instead. The little fellow was incredibly quiet and rarely interacted with her other team members, perhaps taking him out for a wander would allow him to loosen up a little.

Glancing down to the ground type by her ankles, Sharada noticed that he was acting oddly, "Whats up buddy?" He seemed to be glancing around in all directions, almost in a paranoid manner or as if he could hear something in the distance. Thinking he was just being silly, she shrugged it off, scooping the Cubone up into her arms and moving off the dirt path into the tall grass, "Wouldnt want to lose you in here... C'mon, lets look for--" She was immediately forced to a halt as the fidgety Cubone wormed its way from her grasp and began pointing it's bone bone over her shoulder, "Cubone-bone!" it cried out angrily.

His attempts at gaining Sharada's attention worked as she slowly turned on the spot, her eyes widening at the sight Cubone had noticed. It seemed that in the distance there was a small figure backed up to a tree, but that wasnt the problem, there were a trio of creatures surrounding it. The situation didnt look all that friendly, "Good spotting, Cubone! Let's go check it out!" Picking up her pace, Sharada waded her way through the tall grass until she came to a clearing, dashing towards the scene. As everything drew closer it became apparent that a small boy was being surrounded by a pack of Houndour, the leader snapping more furiously than the other two.

At a reasonable distance, all what currently mattered in her mind was to atleast drag the attention away from the boy, atleast then he could get to safer ground. Cubone jumped out of Sharada's hands, a look of determination piercing through the eye sockets of his skull. With one decided, she picked out another two team members, "Pink! Valentina!" The sound of Sharada's voice pricked the ears of the Houndour, making them slowly turn to see who had dared approach them, "Run for it, kid!... Or atleast find somewhere safe if you want to enjoy the show!" Turning back to the matter at hand, the leader Houndour was the one who seemed to draw her attention in the most. "AAALRIGHT! I want you all to gang up on that sly beast in the center! Pinky, use Thunder Shock! Valentina, try out a Water Gun! And finally, Cubone, smack it with your Bone Club!"

The Houndour all turned at Sharada’s voice, turning to glare at the girl. The young boy, Jimmy, peered at her from in between two of the hell hounds. Huddled close to him were his three faithful and young Pokemon, Azurill, Chingling, and Budew. They had all been playing when the violent trio assaulted them and their trainer, and Jimmy swore to himself he had never been happier to see anyone in his entire life.

“Cubone!” Sharda’s Cubone was the first to move. He charged at the Houndour in the center and struck it with the bone in his paw. The Houdnour staggered, only to fall a moment later. It was out, and that was all there was to it. The other two Houndour growled and turned their attention away from the boy. The Houndour on the right, who looked like a female, stood back and opened her jaws, a couple of embers spewing out and crashing into Pinky.

Pinky felt the sting of a burn flick across her skin, the Mareep knew she would have to carry this status ailment for the rest of the battle. Though she stood tall and let her wool fluff up with electricity, before releasing it in a Thundershock that sent plenty of volts through the remaining male Houdnour. He was fast to retort with his own ember, but this time hitting Cubone head on.

Last to go was Valentina, who spat a water gun at the same Houndour that had previously suffered the Thundershock. Needless to say he wasn’t pleased at the soak down, and gave a defying snarl. Jimmy meanwhile, had scrambled behind the tree, now watching Sharada’s battle from a safe distance. Pinky meanwhile, winced at the pain of the burn.

Capturing the attention of the Houndour successfully, Sharada breathed a sigh of relief as she witnessed the young lad making his way to a safer spot behind the tree. Both his head along with 3 other Pokemon poked their head around the trunk to watch the battle, atleast he wasnt completely alone. The cry of her Cubone dragged her attention back to the battle at hand, as he charged on ahead, landing a giant smash of his Bone Club on top of Houndour's head. Sharada blinked for a moment, looking at the Houndour who just seemed to be standing in the same spot, staring off into the distance before it suddenly fell into a pile on the floor. The female trainer snorted playfully at the fainted hell pup, "Pfft, whats this? Cant handle something your own size?"

As the remaining Houndour moved into a more offensive position, Sharada stilled her tongue to see how her other two members would suffice. It seemed for her, she just had the lucky first strike, as one of the Houndour left a nasty burn in Pinky's wool and caught her Cubone off guard with a face full of flames. At this attack, Sharada could sense Cubone's hatred for the male Houndour who had recently attack him. Smashing his bone club into the ground threateningly, he cried out multiple times at it. Shaking her head adamantly from side to side, she glanced over to her Mareep. "How are you fairing?" she questioned, receiving a cheerful nod from the fluffy pink sheep before she winced in pain.

For now, Sharada wanted to eliminate the Houndour closest to her Mareep, anymore embers to her already singed wool wouldn't be pretty, "Pinky! Use another Thundershock on that Houndour closest to ya! And Valentina, I want you to back her up with another one of your Water Gun's." Turning to give her final command, she noticed the distance between himself and the other Houndour her other members were focusing on, leaving her no choice but to order a attack for the nearest. Luckily for Cubone, he wanted to smash the male Houndour's skull, "Urgh, just Bone Club it!" Cubone didn't even nod back to her, instead, he charged on ahead. No one fires flames at his skull.

Jimmy watched Sharada and her Pokemon, and he had to wonder why he couldn’t be as brave as she was. One of the Houndour leapt forward but was Quickly subdued by a bone club, and the other one was taken care of fast by Pinky and Valentina. All three Houndour were down for the count, and it didn’t look like they were going to be ready to get up any time soon.

Jimmy ran out from behind the tree he was hiding behind and up to Sharada. He glanced at the three Pokemon beside her and then his own, who looked much weaker in comparison. He had a grin on though as he gave her a bow.

“Thank you so much for saving me! I don’t know what I would have done if you weren’t here!” He shuddered at the fact that he probably would have been lunch for the hell hounds if Sharada hadn’t been in the area. He pulled a Bell out of his pocket, and the soothing tingle on it made Jimmy’s three Pokemon, and Sharada’s own feel a bit at ease.

“I don’t have much on me, but I’d like you to take this Soothe bell as a thank you gift, just put it on one of your Pokémon, and it will make them feel so much happier!.” He felt really bad he didn’t have anything else to give her, but it seemed all his Pokémon had their eyes on Sharada.

“Um, miss, maybe you’d like one of my Pokémon, any one you want. I’m sure one them going with you would be better, and it’ll make me so happy if they have a strong trainer!” He seemed to mean his words, however much he would miss his Pokémon.

The three Houndour suddenly rose up, and fled into three different directions, leaving Jimmy and Sharada behind, but following them was definitely up to Sharada.

With the three hounds laying unconscious in a heap on the ground, Sharada let out a small sigh of relief before calling her Pokemon over to her. Kneeling to the ground, she began gently nudging their heads in an affectionate manner, "Great job guys! You really showed them." As Jimmy emerged from his hiding spot, the sound of his shoes crunching on the grass caught Sharada's attention. As her own Pokemon turned to face him, she stood to her feet, smiling warmly to him, "Thats no problem, kid! Glad I could be of some use to ya." She turned her gaze elsewhere for a short moment as she fiddled about with her pokeballs to return her team members. With them safely returned, she looked back to him only to have a small glittering bell being offering to her.

She blinked at him a little puzzled, sure she had saved him but did she really deserve a gift for it? Politely taking the bell, she smiled at it's gentle chime it created before pocketing it, "Well, thank you very much!" His next proposition startled her even further, being offered to pick one of his Pokemon. She looked down at them all, each one looking at her wide eyed. In the back of her mind she felt a little guilty, there would be more challenges up ahead if she were to pick one to take along with her, challenges much tougher than a group of Houndour. Not wanting to throw his generosity back in his face, Sharada knelt to the ground and gently poked the Chingling in the center, "Then, I choose you."

The little bell tingled happily and clambered its way into Sharada's open palms, smiling cheerfully as she stood to her feet, "I'll be sure to make you proud. I'll take some time in the future to come back here and show you how he is doing." She suddenly became a little awkward, glancing over his shoulder to see that the Houndour that were once there had disappeared, "Perhaps you should find a place to play a little closer to home from now on. They might come back after all." Sharada lifted a hand and patted his shoulder, "Well, I'm off for now, kid. Stay safe." With a bow of her head and a goodbye wave from the Chingling perched of her shoulder, Sharada made her back to the dirt path and began walking in the opposite direction from him, "Let's make your trainer proud, little one." she grinned to the small bell, receiving another gentle chime.
