Genders dont really effect the outcome of battles or pretty much anything in game (except when it comes to breeding, I guess) but when I play the games, I often try to make a balanced team of male and females.
There are just some things I feel work better as a particular gender. For example, Machamp should always be a dude, right? *looksaroundscared* I dont quite see the chance of a male Gorebyss, either. So yeah, for me, it all just depends. I like the match the gender on the design of the Pokemon and will furiously grind until I get the right thing lol. What annoys me if when something looks obviously female and then it evolves into something more masculine. Liiike, the Mareep line, I suppose?
But yeh, gimme your thoughts. *gobbles them up*

I'm pretty much in agreement with your view. Most of the time i'm not really looking for a specific gender and if I get a Pokemon with good enough stats i'll have it all the same. There's only a real few rare instances where I absolutely have to have a Pokemon as male or female. Stuff like Gardevoir and Gothitelle just seems feminine so I always try and make sure I have a female version of them. It'd just feel wrong otherwise. I knew a guy who was anal about having all Pokemon as male though. He was fun to use Attract on. ;D

I normally catch the first one I find, and use it, unless it has crap stats. I don't really mind female machokes, they can be endearing. Also for some reason I want to get a hermaphrodite Jynx.
