or aka "What the hell, you got some Samurai Warriors in my Pokemon" I really, REALLY do not know what to make of this. When the first images trickled through I thought it was an elaborate hoax. After all, it just seems like such a bizarre spin off, combining old Japanese era history along with Pokemon. Then I heard it was for the DS and given how that is pretty much on its death bed now that Nintendo are devoting their efforts on the 3DS... It really seemed out of place. But lo and behold, it was all true. It seems like a strategy tactics type of affair but I really, really can't get my head around it just yet. Here's a taster image:

Ya Know, I saw this around the internet, and just today I saw a trailer, I'm not sure what to think either. IT'S WEIRD.

what is this i dont even
....huh. Could be kinda neat, actually. I -did- love Shining Force II and Final Fantasy Tactics, and this seems to use a similar battle setup.....

I have to question why it's not 3DS, although I don' think the 3D would add much to this type of game.
But hey it's got an Eevee warlord against guys with legendaries. I kinda have to question why the girl is stuck with a Jigglypuff given the competition.

The girl with the Jigglypuff is probably the typical daughter of the chief from the village in the middle of nowhere or something being all, OOHPLZHELPMEBYTRAVELLINGACROSSTHELAND<3
Joe mentioned the teaser image yesterday but I just shrugged it off, but when I checked Serebii today and saw the new images and video... Well, all I can say is that I will probably like this. xP It's different and although I would say the battle style doesnt necessarily suit Pokemon, at the same time I love games like Luminous Arc which look so similar to this so I cant wait to give it a play. :3 (That and Sonic had a go at an entire new system with Sonic Chronicles so I dont see why Pokemon cant give it a go.)
The character art style is a bit too different for me though. Whilst I love all the uguu, pretty and shiny animuu, I link Sugimori with Pokemon and prefer his more unique charm. I'd love this art style if I came across it on another game, I dont like it on Pokemon. :/

I'll probably end up getting this. Although I'm not a very big games but it looks sort of fun and unique! I don't get why some of the main characters have legendaries and two have pokemon that aren't even evolved yet (Eevee, Jigglypuff). But yeah I'll probably get it (if I find a job sometime soon :/.)

... Weird. Weird. I have no idea what to think of it. It's pretty unlikely I'll every see it in RL - I don't have the money for a DS, so I've only been drooling over the games in stores. But this one? I don't know. I don't know what Nobunaga's Ambition is xD

Wonder what they'll combine Pokemon with next, I mean Samurai is a bit of a stretch although I guess cultural interest takes priority there.

I saw more info about this on Serebii. It kinda reminds me of Pokemon in Final Fantasy style.

Same with Pika up there, I've heard a lot about this being very similar to Tactics (If you've played tactics)

I have to question why it's not 3DS, although I don' think the 3D would add much to this type of game. I really do question it as well. You have Nintendo mentioning time and time again that they're trying to support it but acts like these just seem to undercut it. Oh well, nice enough for people who can't afford a 3DS I suppose. The other thing is, 3DS may not add all that much but the improved horsepower and so on would be of benefit. Wonder what they'll combine Pokemon with next, I mean Samurai is a bit of a stretch although I guess cultural interest takes priority there. DIGIMON. Oh and one other thing i'm curious about... Who is actually developing this? I keep wanting to say Koei for the Samurai Warrior games but I think i'm getting that painfully wrong.

I will most definently end up buying it. I've never heard of Nobunaga's Animation (That's right), so with it crossed over with Pokemon I'd personally love to try it. Can't wait for it to come out so I can try and see if it is worth it's money.

Now that it's been fully released in Japan, it seems like its been generally quite well received. My one fear about this is that it's far too localised and won't seem all that profitable to business types looking to release it in the West. I'm thinking it could still do well, or at least, as well as any niche spin off Pokemon title would do but it seems to have a bit more substance than other ones (Pokepark, Trozei, Smash etc etc).
Some of the artwork is GORGEOUS. Not just the bushou leaders themselves but the Pokemon. I've seen a few sprite portraits and they're a joy to behold.
