Tanya Twilight Glade Encounter #1

Tanya watched the witch throw the berries in the pot and paid little attention to the dark-winged creature that flew past her. The following events were rather strange, with the red-headed girl and her Charmeleon leaping back simultaneously as the witch tossed the vial on the ground and vanished with a howl. "What in the nine circles of hell was that?" Tanya spat, blinking her eyes as if what she had just witnessed was an illusion.

Even Moka had woken up due to the disturbances, shifting herself more comfortably onto Tanya's shoulder. She was unable to return to sleep, however, due in part to the cries of the dark feathered birds circling about. The one that hopped towards Tanya seemed curious to see her, making the girl wonder if these avians were somewhat rare around these parts. "Murkrow... I've always wanted one," the trainer said with a light smile.

She pulled a Poké Ball from her bag and released it, allowing her Blitzle, Caladrius, to emerge for his first battle. The lightning steed snorted, a little nervous to be performing, scraping one hoof against the leaf-strewn ground. "I can't catch you at full health, so Caladrius, use Thunder Wave on it!" Tanya called with her signature hand flick. The Blitzle made a whinnying sound before his white mane blazed yellow with electricity, which erupted out of him and sped towards his target.

Within the walls of the dark forest, the battle had started. The Murkrow gave a little shake of it's feathers and readied itself for an attack. Krow! It snarled, flying up. The curiosity disappeared and it was now a battle. The brave little bird jumped up and flew towards the Blitzle. Caladrius shot out the wave of paralyzing electricity, hitting his mark perfectly. Caught off guard, the bird fell to the ground, wings heavy with the electricity that coursed through it's body. Murkrow gave a caw, and glared at the Blitzle.

It then started to run towards the Blitzle. This caught Caladrius off guard, who didn't move until it was too late. Murkrow was covered in a dark aura and it slammed it's beak into Caladrius. He gave a snort and shied back. It was a decent hit, especially for a paralyzed Pokemon. Murkrow tried to fly, but was ineffective. It hopped away and waited, trying to shake off the paralysis. Unsuccessful, it folded it's wings and waited for Caladrius and Tanya to decide what they were going to do. If it couldnt fly or attack first, it would wait.

The poor Murkrow had been knocked ungracefully from the air by the paralyzing electric blast, leaving it to twitch about on the ground for a few moments. She almost felt bad for the dark bird until it managed to struggle to its feet and charge at Caladrius enveloped in a black aura. The Blitzle quickly dashed backwards after being struck, nervously prancing in place.

He didn't like this darkness-wielding bird one bit. Even though he was still anxious about how he was performing, something about this unfamiliar creature made him even more antsy. The zebra snorted again, tossing his head and pawing the ground. "Ah don't you worry, Caladrius. You've got the advantage here," Tanya called out to the Blitzle.

S-she was right! His one simple move had taken the ability of flight right from the dastardly bird! Gaining some confidence, Caladrius lifted his head high and stopped his fretting, waiting for his trainer's orders. Smiling at the change in her Pokémon's mood, Tanya raised her hand again. "Now unleash a Shock Wave!" she commanded. Caladrius reared up, his front legs kicking the air while his mane blazed with electricity again. As he touched down, electricity surged from him and was launched in the Murkrow's direction.

Caladrius's newfound confidence was something to be proud of. Murkrow, however, was brooding in the dark shade of the trees just waiting to attack the thunder horse again. While the trainer and the thunder horse seemed to have a moment, Murkrow readied it's attack. It started to gather the mist around it, preparing for after Caladrius's attack. HOWEVER, the Murkrow was unprepared for the can of whoop ass that was about to be opened on itself.

The Shock wave soared towards Murkrow, and the dark bird was too damaged to dodge. Cursing the paralysis, the bird was struck by the mighty electric blast and was sent spiraling into a ball, where it merely twitched occasionally with the shudder of electricity within it's body. It wiggled up lightly onto it's feet, and tried to gather the dark shadows, but it failed in doing so. Murkrow gritted it's teeth and fell back to the ground, visible electricity almost pinning it to the ground. Caladrius had won this fight, hands, er hooves, down. Now it was up to Tanya what she'd do.

Tanya felt rather sorry for the bird and how it had been matched so poorly against her Blitzle. But her desire to capture it overrode her fleeting feelings of pity, and as it struggled to retaliate against Caladrius, the girl dug through her messenger bag and pulled out a Great Ball, lightly tossing the device up and down in her hand as she eyed the Murkrow speculatively.

"A little pain for some gain... sorry, little fella!" Tanya called out to the downed scavenger. As she raised her arm, she wondered if any of the other birds would want to challenge her. Perhaps she could catch a few and see if other trainers wanted the opportunity to raise one for themselves. Shrugging, Tanya let the Great Ball fly towards the downed Murkrow, hoping for a trouble-free capture.

The Murkrow was silent as the ball hit its feathers, drawing it in quickly. Murkrow seemed too tried to fight anymore, and even let the ball suck it inside. The ball turned it into energy, and snapped shut over it, dropping to the ground. The flurry of shakes started, and Caladrius watched it, his hoof scraping against the ground as it shook. He didn’t seem to care much for it, but Tanya wanted to capture it.

The ball shook for a while, and continued while the Great Ball gave a soft thump each time it shook. Finally, the ball gave a final shake and stopped where it stood. Caladrius took the Greatball and rolled it over to Tanya, careful not to roll on the button and open it up. The Pokedex beeped, asking for the information it needed.
