“Spirit! Spirit come on, wait up will you?!” Sandy’s exhasperated voice came in seconds before she appeared herself. She was covered with scrapes and bruises as a teasing Ponyta ran around her in circles and then darted off again. The bells that she had attached to Spirit’s bridle were jingling as he snorted and took off in what seemed to Sandy as five different directions at once. The girl had been trying to train him so he could be used as horseback travel, as well as one of her teams fighters. However…Spirit appeared to have other ideas.
Muru and Berry both came up behind her, the Squirtle and the Eevee shooting one another concerned glances. Spirit seemed pretty untamable to them, even if Sandy had gotten him to trust her enough so the flames on his back wouldn’t burn her. Munchy had wanted to whip the horse into shape, but everyone had insisted it was better that he didn’t.
“Please come back Spirit…I’m really tired now…” she pleaded. Spirit raised his head and finally came back to her, allowing her to grab onto his reins for once and lead him along beside her, though, he’d probably take off again when he wanted too anyway. Sandy then noticed that the place they had ended up was all too familiar to her. This was the same warehouse where she had first ended up a while back, where she captured PenPen.
“Wow…this place looks the same.” She mentioned to Berry, who had been with her the first trip there. She quickly went further up to one of the buildings, and strangely enough, the door was open. Sand pushed it far enough so she and Spirit could fit through at once. She cleared her throat and called out.
“Erm…Hello?” she somehow hoped there would be somebody there.”

The warehouse did look indeed the same. Having entered through the bike storehouse, it meant that she was greeted with tons upon tons of motorbiking equipment. Spare parts and mechanic tools were littered all over the work surfaces and where there was no more space to put them, the bare floor itself had become home to all manner of wrenches and scrap metal. Complimenting this environment was also the colossal line up of motorbikes that were parked from the back of the storehouse to the very front. Some were flatly laid on their sides on top of shelves and the other much heavier ones were neatly balanced upright. The only thing that was missing from this industrious scene was a hulking big engineer by the name of Eightball. The resident mechanic had literally made this garage his bedroom of sorts as the man was so obsessed with tinkering all the time. His private quarters in the underground had almost been over run by Pokemon due to his lacking presence. For whatever reason, his attention had been stolen elsewhere as he would have been there to greet Sandy. The last time she had investigated the abandoned building the two had started their friendship off on the wrong foot when Merton had persuaded the meek young trainer to pay Eightball back for a petty feud the two had established. By the time the two had reckoned with one another, Eightball could see that Sandy was a warm soul who cherished her Pokemon and figured that she was welcome. Perhaps tension might have flared if he saw Spirit enter alongside Sandy and worried about his bikes being knocked over but for the group, they'd have other concerns to think about. Oozing in the far corner of the room was a small crack that one of Joey's newest additions to the team had been spying on for any intruders. This putrid clump of sludge was in truth Hexxus, an untrustworthy Pokemon who many kept their distance from. As he kept himself concealed, the Grimer recalled his memories of Sandy, having sneaked off from her when she and the motormouthed biker exchanged wares. Bubbling with excitement, the deceitful slimeball began to scheme up a plot to heighten his standing... And possibly dispose of a few that would prevent him from doing so. " What a deeeeeeelightful turn of events! Fortunes favours the daring or so I hear, aha." Eyeing from side to side, the sludge monster trickled back through the crack in the wall and was returned to the main warehouse grounds. " Its simply a matter of picking the right pawns, myes...Oho!" Slicking forward, he began brushing past all sorts of Pokemon that Joey had acquired on his travels. A lot of them were merely neutral players for him to spread his poisoned words over but there were some who would forcibly hold him to ransom for his actions. One of which was the incessant champion of justice by the name of Tubs. Spying at him from half way across the main floor, Hexxus leered at the blubbering outline of the obese fighter. " Time to butter the lardy one up." It wasn't long before he made it as the Grimer had put on an act of mild panic in his sprawl. " Tubs! TUBS! Oh Tubs! How I must thank the heavens that a fine, upstanding champion such as you is here to protect our noble grounds. There's an intruder! In the storehouse! She looks positively menacing!" Secretly smiling to himself on the inside, it seemed the food obsessed Makuhita fell for his ploy. " Huh? You best not be trying anything funny Hexxus. We know you're up to something but... If there is an intruder, then that is not good. Best grab me my favourite snack for when I get back. AND DON'T OOZE ALL OVER IT!" Picking himself from up off the floor with a slight quiver of fat, the Makuhita dashed off with Hexxus slimly trailing behind him. " Myes, myes, either way one of them will fail and i'll be a step closer to becoming king of this throne." Resuming his eavesdrop in the crack, he couldn't help but shudder with exhilration as Tubs slammed open the garage door with his plump hands and raised up his fists at the fact there was indeed an intruder. " Get out or i'll push you out!" Having spread his poisoned baritone words, a fight was now inevitable. Encounter

Sandy quickly stepped back as Tubs seemingly jumped out of nowhere. She was positive that this Makuhita wasn’t wild, because her Pokedex would have beeped in a warning if it was. Owned or not however, Tubs looked pretty upset that she was there. She had to wonder where all the people had gone off too in this place. Berry and Muru were of course, very alarmed by the bristling creature. It didn’t seem like Sandy was getting out of this without a fight, however much she wanted to avoid it.
Spirit snorted as Tubs made his threat, stomping his hoof down on the ground in a firm statement that said he wasn’t ready to leave.
<I don’t think you should try push us around pal, no matter how tough you think you are.> The horse retorted, making Berry roll her eyes.
<I think you’re the one that thinks you’re tough.> She muttered under her breath. Muru nodded in agreement, a bit annoyed by how Spirit was just taking charge. Spirit suddenly ripped his reins out of Sandy’s hands, charging and forming into a ball of flames.
“H-hey! Spirit!” she called out, trying to stop him. Though it was already to late as his Flame Wheel attack was being carried out.

Although that slimy traitorous ***** had said the female trainer was the intimidating one, Tubs eagerly swung around his arms in anticipation at the sight of the damnless horse. He may have lied about getting him in here but the messy gunk of a Pokemon was at least right on something. Fortunately for Tubs, he was a Pokemon of immense honour and justice, so fighting something as wild spirited as Spirit made the Pokemon shudder in anticipation. Choosing to ignore Sandy and retaliate back at the horse, Tubs finished his arm warm ups and began teetering from side to side as he implanted his feet firmly on the ground. The horse was one for trash talk and that again suited the Makuhita perfectly. " It's no matter how tough I think I am. It's more a case of how tough I know I am. ORAH ORAH ORAH!" Pacing forward with a lightning fast shift, Tubs landed with a mighty crash next to Spirit and picked up one of the scrap bikes Eightball had been working on and used his dexterous arms to spin them around as if they were nothing but a feather. A few hundred cycles or so later of this, Tubs grew tired of demonstrating his immense strength and lobbed it at a wall, far away from Sandy and her team. " Let's do this brother, i'll show you there's muscle beneath this fat." Having demonstrated that he was all for just and honourable means of combat, the Makuhita seemed to retort a face at the sudden outburst from Spirit. Freeing himself from Sandy's control and proceeding to charge at him with a fiery missile like assault, Tubs knew he had but one option before him. " That gear you got on him just ain't for bondage then I take it." Muttered Tubs as he began a charged dash at Spirit himself. To many this would seem tantamount to suicide but the tubby sumo had a few tricks of his own up his sleeve. Closing his eyes shut, he let the flow of battle take him and then halted, cementing himself to the floor. With a loud yell and a strike of his fist outwards, Spirit made a nasty connection with it and veered off course, galloping crazily until he went crashing into a wall and slumping. A textbook example of Fake Out if there ever was one. Spinning his arms around as if to keep them from seizing up, Tubs had a cocky shit eating grin on his face. " Come on pony boy, that the best you got? Lemme see the FIRE in your eyes." Although he may have honoured respecting battle traditions, it seemed Tubs wasn't above slinging a few bits of trash talk out himself. The rivalry between the two seemed to ignite in the space between them. Joey Pokemon Battle

Spirit seemed very intent on his target, snorting in covered embarrassment when he failed to damage Tubs in the first turn. Placing one of his hooves into the air, he slammed it back down into the ground in frustration. Sandy knew that he was clearly upset, and it didn’t seem like he was too intent on beating the Makuhita now. The Ponyta sprung towards the Makuhita again, Revved up in a Flame Wheel.
Sandy watched the fire as it engulfed his body, sighing softly. She didn’t even know why she was even thinking of ordering him. He didn’t want to listen to her and if anything, he was his own horse. Berry crossed her arms and shook her head.
<He really has to be taught a lesson.> Berry muttered to Muru. Muru’s fluffy tail twitched in anticipation. She knew that the Ponyta was quite rash, but she didn’t know how they could possibly do that. He was just a giant handful, and took battles into his hooves without Sandy’s consent!

Its tubby face hardening up as Spirit rammed down his hooves in angry retaliation for the previous turn, it was clear that this round was heading to pastures a lot more violent. Seeing the floor had been thoroughly imprinted by its diamond hard feet, Tubs steadfastly held his his ground as he raised his fists. " Now you've done it. You've only gone and damaged our hideout. I know its a tip to begin with but... Yikes...!" Nervously looking around to see if Eightball was in the vicinity, the plump fighter took back on his offensive stance when he had looked around and seen the coast was clear. " Izmael will fix it no problem but I can't let you get off without a good and thorough pounding." Knowing that at this point he was running on nothing but bluff, the tubby brawler cautiously awaited Spirit's attack. Knowing full well it couldn't even hope to replicate such a fast strike like it had done before, it was up to his own sheer bulk to sponge any hits. If only he had a nice five course meal, that might have given him enough energy but sadly, a banquet was well and truly off the cards. Almost opening his squinting little eyes at the sight of a sudden eruption of inferno like flames, Tubs knew this was going to hurt. A lot. " SOMEBODY GET SOME WAAAAAAATER!!" His loud cry did little to reach the others residing in the other room. It wasn't as if Joey had that many water types to begin with even if they did hear. Thinking about fleeing, the portly little tub of blubber began running off as fast as his legs could carry him. Even if he had the athletic body of an olympic runner it would have made little to no difference. The immense strides of the blazing Ponyta were almost peerless in their speed. Focusing the brunt of the flames forward, Tubs went flying up in the air with a loud outburst. " HOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOT DAAAAAAAAAAAAAAMN!" Skidding to a halt, Spirit had just enough time to relish in his powerful strike as Tubs went crashing into the brick wall off in the corner. Now firmly dislodged into the walling, it was clear that he wasn't going to be able to do much more fighting for the time being. The slimy gaze which had been a voyeur into the battle merely cooed to himself. " Ohohohoho! I had hoped more from that troublesome blubberguts but maybe just maaaaaaaybe this lass has got what it takes. Time to prepare stage two..." Sliding out from the crack, Hexxus sneakily withdrew himself. Whether or not Sandy would proceed on was entirely up to her but it seemed the repulsive being had a few more unwitting pawns in his chess game that needed felling. Joey Pokemon Battle
