((I'll pass on Swagger, thanks though!)) Due to Simba's speed, the fight wasn't about to tip in the Psyduck's favor. It was possible to get Simba down to a concerning amount of health, but only if the waddling duck could attack before the quick lion. Unfortunately, it wasn't the case. Simba, crackling with electricity, darted forward with strength and speed, knocking out the Pokemon in another hit. Overkill, one might say.
"Good job, Sim!"
Justin cheered, letting his camera thump against his chest as he let it go. The strap pulled on his neck at a weird angle, but that didn't matter. His Pokedex dinged, signaling that his Luxio had leveled, and was trying to learn a new move. He denied, and looked up to see the boy hugging his Pokemon before bringing the prize money to him. Justin accepted graciously, and bidt he boy with as friendly a farewell as he'd given. Simba then returned to Justin, jumping up to put his paws on the man's chest. Justin was, after all, rather tall.
"Good job, good job. Ya did great, bud. And you leveled! How does it feel?"
He scratched the Luxio behind the ears, standing out in the open now that the boy had left.

Route 34 | It had seen many of the lead Ponyta in its herd come and go. Be it natural causes, or more or less trainers popping them into Pokeballs, the numbers in its herd were dwindling at best, and it wasn't getting any better. so today, it decided to take a walk away from the herd. Pulling its fire-formed tail behind it with a flick, it continued to plod along the path. How would they get their numbers back to where they had once been? When would it be safe for the Ponyta to assume they could rebuild the herd? With their luck and the trainer's hunger to advance, its guess was close to...well, Never. It froze suddenly when it noticed a trainer closeby. ----- Information! A Wild Ponyta (Level 16) Has appeared! |

As Justin sat with Simba, rubbing noses with the feline, another Pokemon had entered their area. The Ponyta sat, frozen, as it stared at Justin with wide, calculating eyes. It didn't make an offensive gesture, nor a fleeing glance. Simba dropped his paws from Justin's shoulders and began to walk towards the equine, but Justin shook his head slowly. The feline paused, paw mid air as it attempted to step, and instead corrected itself, sitting down beside his trainer.
"This thing doesn't look like it wants to fight. But I want to try and catch it. I assume i've got a 50/50 or something, ya know?"
Justin whispered to his furry companion. The Luxio nearly shrugged and nosed it's Pokeball to return inside. Switching herself out by choice, the Honchcrow Capona took Simba's place, perching affectionately on Justin's head as best she could. However, it was difficult to keep his balance when she did this. The ultra ball he'd thrown towards the Ponyta would hopefully connect as he wrestled with Capona to see the events unfolding.
"I never knew birds were this affectionate."
Justin eventually murmured, peeking through the crow's feathers as the bird preened his wild hair.
-1 Ultraball (Not updated, as I don't have the power)

Still a bit wary of Justin and company, the Ponyta remained on the spot and noticed that despite the inclusion of a lion and a bird, it seemed as if he wasn't enacting the rites of battle. Instead, the welcoming trainer decided to opt for another strategy. Taking out an Ultraball, the Ponyta neighed and scraped its hoof against the ground. It knew its herd had dwindled due to humans and their red and white devices but this looked unlike the description he had been warned of. Bearing black and yellow decorations to its appearance, the Ponyta couldn't help but be a little bit impressed by the design motif. As Justin threw it forward and struggled with Capona getting up in his business to view the capture itself, the Ponyta remained steadfast. It was a huge gamble trying to capture a Pokemon right off the bat and with full health to boot but the odds were at least somewhat favourable thanks to the tried and tested success of the Ultraball. Enshrouding the wild horse in its glow, it absorbed it into its open centre before clicking shut and clanging to the ground. Rocking back and forth, it began processing the newly acquired Pokemon. Once... Twice... Thrice...

Justin's gamble had paid off.
Finally wrestling Capona off of his head, Justin retrieved the Pokeball and sent the Ponyta to his PC. He'd had a request for one in his shop, so after a quick chat with the person, if he deemed them worthy, they'd walk off with the horse. Capona shot him a look of skepticism, wondering why the trainer didn't have her fight. He wished the Pokemon could talk, instead of just shoot him strange looks.
"Hey, the thing looked like it didn't want to fight. Who am I to throw in some super strong Pokemon and wreck it's world, eh? Besides, it worked out for tha better anyways."
Justin shrugged, walking down the path as Capona flew alongside him. She'd reaped the benefits, at least. Capona was one of the more milder Pokemon on his team, so having her want to battle was a nice change of pace, albeit strange. His Pignite, Rhoan, was the battle hungry one, while Surreo and Capona usually kept their wits about them. Hopefully having Rhoan evolved will help with the situation. But, of course, progress was slow. It was partially his fault, having her not attempt to obliterate everything in sight. Simba was coming along, too. Any day now, for the feline.
"I'm sure something'll come along that we can stretch those wings out for."

As Justin and Capona followed the route the air blew beneath the bird Pokemon's wings as she looked around for something worty of battling. Luck did not seem to be on the birds side as even with her elevated position Capona could not see any Pokemon or Trainers around. Likely due to all the battles on the route recently. There did not seem to be any hope of finding something to fight but just as all hope seemed lost something could be heard in the distance. At first it was rather faint so to get a better idea of what was approaching Capona climbed to a higher altitude. Even from there all the bird could see was a dust cloud in the distance. This soon changed however as the sound grew closer it could be identified as galloping which not many Pokemon in the area could do so loudly. As Capona kept watch of the approaching sound a neigh could be heard ending any doubt as to which Pokemon it was. It was heading towards Justin at a fast pace and was clearly in a hurry. The Pokemon ran right by Justin but then turned around when it caught the smell of one of it's friends emminating from the trainer. The pony was filled with rage when it realized it's friend had been captured. Ponyta kicked dirt around in anger before approaching Justin. Ponyta certainly was not happy with him. He had captured one of this Ponyta's friends and that was unforgivable to the fire type. Ponyta stood filled with rage as it tried to force Justin to battle it. A wild lv17 Ponyta appeared. Please select a Pokemon for battle.

As the dust cloud of doom approached, Capona tilted her wing down to cut a sharp turn, falling back to the ground where her trainer was in danger. Her beak snapped as she shot her head in the direction of the incoming Pokemon, which only sparked the trainer's interest, even to the point of crouching down and snapping a few photos. "You're kidding me, right?" Capona squawked, angrily.
However, her fear and rage subsided as the Ponyta ran past Justin. Just as Capona was about to relax, however, the Pokemon made a sharp stop, glaring over in her blonde trainer's direction. "Earth to Justin! I repeat, Earth to Justin! Angry equine incoming!" Capona perched on Justin's back, as he was currently crouched down snapping a few photos. However, he realized he'd probably need to battle the angry equine. Tapping a Pokeball, his shy Trapinch emerged.
"Heya, Frey. Want to give this battle a shot?"
Justin lowered his camera and put his hand on Freyja's head. The Trapinch didn't shy away per her usual reaction. Instead, she sat still, as if accessing the current contact.
"I believe you can win. How's that? I know you can win."
Her trainer's words were sincere, at least, so Freyja waddled her body to the side, turning her massive head to face the angry Ponyta. Fire wouldn't hurt the Trapinch as much as her ground moves would hurt the enemy.
"Try a Bulldoze. I think your strength will surprise even you."
Capona left her perch to sit on the ground and watch the battle. Justin always had to play it safe with Freyja. Her rattled past made for difficult bonding, but so far, Justin had really been warming up to the abused Pokemon. Giving her chances like this would only help with her confidence.

Enraged further as Justin appeared to be taking shots without more of a care that the Pokemon was angry, the fiery steed, reared backwards as it kicked its forelegs in the air in front of it with an angry neigh, the fire on its back now sprouting with tremendous fury. With its valiant display of outrage, the Pokemon thudded back down on all fours as it noticed Justin appeared to be now on the wavelength of engaging in a battle. Snorting its nostrils vehemently, the Pokemon knew not what the trainer would use but if he had been able to vanquish his friends and the rest of the herd, he was surely a worthy foe. Awaiting to see the human's choice, the Ponyta spluttered as it leant forward, almost in disbelief at what it was up against. It appeared to be some sort of ant lion and as it began to waddle forward, the horse craned its neck up and appeared to almost laugh at the comical appearance of the Pokemon. It was like a bobble head to some degree. Given Justin had all the faith in his Pokemon's advantage over the enemy, the Ponyta was clearly foolish to think so lowly of Freyja. Scraping its hoof against the floor incessantly, it wasn't going to wait around any longer. The amusement had run its course. Resuming its aggressive posture, the Ponyta flared its mane as it readied its first attack on the enemy using its impressive agility. Flaring its nostrils, the Pokemon let out another vehement snort that sent a spatter of fiery embers with extreme prejudice towards Justin's Trapinch. Showering the poor Pokemon in them, it was clearly painful to withstand but to her testament, was able to pull through and shrug off the searing flames which would have affected others far worse. Now primed for an opening, along with Justin's guidance, it was finally time for a retaliation. Having been suggested with the move Bulldoze, the Trapinch made good of the offensive. With her massive head having been of some humour to the opponent, it would be ironic that it would also be its undoing. Using her hefty bulk, she slammed it down onto the ground, creating a powerful impact that created unsettling tremors that influenced the very ground in front of her to going cascading forward. Wincing at the sight, the Ponyta turned to its side as if to escape but it was too late. A huge wave of earth made a devastating impact that knocked the Ponyta clean out onto the floor. Having been so thoroughly bested, it would likely mean the Ponyta would be seen as the laughing joke of the route whenever it came back to its senses. Wild Battle

Freyja waddled back to her trainer, relatively shocked at the power she contained. Apparently, the Pokemon didn't have as high of an opinion as herself as she could have, so Justin tried to do his best to build her up. Fighting the Ponyta was the best thing he could have had her do. At least, for now. "You did it! Great job!"Justin did his best to pick her up and spin her around, watching as her sullen mouth slowly curved into somewhat of a smile. Justin would take it, no complaints there. He gave her a rub on her head before she pawed at his leg, ready to go back inside her ball. Anxious little thing, but Justin gave her the space she needed before grinning like a maniac. Setting his camera to the side, as well as his bag, Justin did a little dance in place. She let him touch her, spin her around, command her in battle AND she won in the first round? Progress, man. Progress. Speaking of progress... "Simba, what are you doing in my bag?"The Luxio, amidst the Bulldoze, had been released from his pokeball when it fell from Justin's belt. Instead of dilligently watching said battle, he'd nosed around in Justin's bag until he'd found someting tasty. Birthday cake icing was smeared all over the lion's fur and mouth as he turned his head to look at Justin, caught in the act. The feline then proceeded to smile, almost cheekily. "If I didn't know any better, i'd call that a shit eatin' grin."Justin laughed, unable to stay mad at the feline, especially with cake smeared all over his face. However, when Justin approached to wipe off the cat's face as soon as it swallowed, Simba was engrossed in a bright, white light. Shielding his eyes with his hands, Justin could only wait until the flash subsided. When the light died, Justin lowered his hands to gaze at the newest form of Simba. Despite all the awe he felt, Justin couldn't help but laugh. Simba snorted and turned his head, examining his new body while Justin wiped his face off with the napkin. "That was a powerful entrance... but the cake ruined it, man. Just saying." Justin chuckled, scratching the lion behind his ears. "I will say, you do look badass, despite eating my fantastic cake I was saving. Now it's gonna get dry if I don't feed everybody else now." Justin's mock whine made the lion roll his eyes. "I know, I don't have to twist ya'lls arm."Soon, all of Justin's Pokemon were out of their balls, eating and drinking to their hearts content. The mini feast, finished off with cake (Aside from Surreo and Capona, everyone else was too stuffed.) The team seemed happier and stronger, having spent time as a unit, but even then, there were more battles to be had, and more people to see. Packing up their mini-feast, Justin and Freyja continued looking for Pokemon to train with. With so many Ponyta nearby, Justin watched in hopes that more would come for Freyja to train with. - Requesting Ponyta (Birthday Cake used. +1 Level to Luxio (Now Luxray), Gallade and Honchkrow. +1 Happiness to the same crew as well. EXP share removed from Luxray, given to Trapinch. Eviolite boxed.)

At this point, with the earth shaking earlier and a missing Ponyta was caught, it was no doubt that something was happening in the area that would cause some faraway Ponyta herd to be weary. Galloping at the speed of light, the steed of justice arrived to the scene to witness the scene of its fellow Ponyta who just woke up from the battle and fleeing. Pausing, he two exchanged neighs briefly about the situation before the other one darted off. Assessing the situation with its horse-sized brain and the look of Justin and his Pokemon, the Ponyta reinforcement wasn't sure if the trainer was trying to catch some of them or fight some of them for experience. Whatever the case this was, the Ponyta wasn't intimidated by Justin's Pokemon, and instead embraced itself for the upcoming fight.

The herd of Ponyta certainly didn't disappoint, and after a few moments, another Ponyta had made it's way to investigate them. Although the new Luxray wanted to investigate the newest enemy, Justin had other ideas.
"I'd rather you sit this one out. I know you just evolved, and want to explore, but let's give Freyja another shot. She did so well the first time."
And with that, the Ant Lion was sent out once more. Ideally, a good confidence boost would give the creature a bit more to stand on mentally. Justin wouldn't let her get destroyed, and going against the Ponyta seemed to be the best course of action once more.
"Let's try what you did again, okay? Bulldoze and see if we can knock this one out too! If not, it'll only take 2 turns, so that'd be fine."
Justin urged the Pokemon forward, giving her a reassuring pat on the head while doing so.

Given this has been the umpteenth Ponyta to have made their way to Justin and company, it was a wonder if their numbers had really truly thinned. At any rate, this Ponyta appeared to boast a definite edge over its brethren horse. The poise, stance and very look of the Pokemon screamed it had a bevy more experience. Maybe this wasn't going to be as straight forward a walk in the park as the others. Nevertheless, having stepped up to the plate and thrown down the gauntlet, the Ponyta had engaged itself in a battle. As Justin responded in acceptance by calling forth his choice of Pokemon, having deferred on allowing Simba a chance at showing off his new found prowess. The kingly lion would have his day but for now, it was time to give Freyja a bit of time in the limelight. As the ant lion shuffled forward, steadily but surely, the Ponyta could be seen assessing the situation carefully. Unlike the one before it, this Pokemon was at least mature enough not to insult Freyja's appearance. That or it had been suitably intimidated by Simba's presence at the scene. Either way, the Pokemon lowered its head and made a firm stance of its hooves as it braced itself ready to fight. As it allowed Justin the chance to give Freyja some confidence and a reassuring pat on the head, the Ponyta quickly sprang into action soon there after. Clearly more of a respectful foe, the horse could have clearly struck much sooner. Despite having waited around, the sheer speed of its gallop closing the gap was something to behold. In mere split seconds it seemed, the Ponyta was before Freyja. Rearing upwards, kicking its forelegs in the air, it came down with both of its hooves perfectly joined, creating a powerful downwards stomp. Flinching her eyes, the ground type used her endurance to withstand the attack but it was no easy feat. Almost crushing at the sheer impact of these diamond hard hooves, Freyja managed to skilfully retaliate as she pressed upwards with the strength of her own diminutive legs and knocked the Ponyta off askance. Shaking her lofty head, the Trapinch quickly followed through with Justin's order. Leaning her head backwards, she rocked her head forward, making a significant impact on the ground in front of her. As the earth had no choice but to respond, the very floor itself sprung up and like a falling row of dominoes, trailed forwards before jabbing at the Ponyta viciously without any semblance of remorse. Letting out a frightened neigh, the Ponyta spluttered before it landed backwards, flying through the air and hit the ground with a thud. Justin had prepared for the worst with having to endure two turns but it appeared Freyja was getting the hang of this battling lark and had succeeded with a flawless one hit knock out. PERFECT. Justin watched as Freyja struck the ground with her front legs, creating the bulldoze needed to completely and totally knock out the enemy Ponyta. Justin couldn't help but feel slightly bad; the horse had been quite the respectable foe. However, it couldn't be helped. He did his best not to think about it, although his stomach churned uncomfortably. Instead, he did his best to turn his full attention to Freyja, who'd defeated her second foe in a row, both with one hit. He crouched down to pet the Trapinch and smiled.
"You know who did that?"
Justin asked the Trapinch, who looked at Justin questioningly. After a few moments, Justin booped her on the nose with his finger.
"You did. Now let's go celebrate and get some grub. I'm starving, and I bet you guys are too, even though half of ya'll had cake..."
Justin snickered, returning his Pokemon and packing up for Goldenrod. He had a few plans before he made his way to Whitney, that was for sure.
"Big things are comin', ya know?"
End-
