As a result of several continued spam issues that came to light because of the prices at the Unova festival, we've fel the need to increase the penalties for this issue. Wanting to buy Pokemon or items anywhere on the site, is not going to justify anyone posting spam. If you can't afford something, then you'll need to wait, the even lasts till the end of the month and if you miss it than there's nothing to be done, everyone's missed something from at least one event at this point, and most have done so without spamming to make a purchase.
As of this announcement, any member caught spamming will have £90 per spam post deducted from their profile, where as a single post earns £45.
Along with that, continued spamming will result in at least a 3-day suspension. Based on the amount, and how bad the spam is, this period could be increased.
Now, I need to post what we consider spam here.
A post that adds nothing to the discussion is spam, simply saying "awesome" or something of that nature is not adding to the discussion. It's a useless post that will be considered as spam. You'll need to actually talk about the subject matter, and go into your reasons for liking/disliking it, and what makes it interesting.
Now, not liking something does not mean your post will automatically be counted as spam, as long as you stay on topic and make well thought out posts, simply saying "this sucks" or anything like that with no reasons given IS spam.
If you aren't going to ever do anything related to what the thread is about, do not keep posting in it. If you don't plan to ever partake when other members are comparing alcohol, talking about tattoos, piercings, entertainment, and so on, do not continue to jump into the discussion just to state that you won't change your mind, or post to say something along the lines of "drinking is bad for you, you shouldn't do it". This will be considered spam as well, since you're not adding anything to the actual discussion.
Another thing that will be considered spam is necro-posts. If there's a thread that's say 3+ months old, and all you have to say is one short sentence/word on the subject, don't post. If you have some new information, something that would revive the discussion, or even just a well thought out reason for your liking it, go ahead and post that, but don't revive a thread for the sake of reviving a thread. This also applies to members who have not signed in for a long time, which you can check in their profile, if they haven't signed in for a while, do not post in their shop and ask to buy something from them. Both of these are as spam.
Also, when/if you do get in trouble, don't even try saying that you did it because you like the site so much. Even if it is true, and I've never seen a time it is, that doesn't justify spamming. Suddenly loving the site enough to spam 20+ topics a day, as soon as you want to buy something, really doesn't support your argument, or make it so that spam is alright anyway.
