Crime & Justice
Unlike in the games where the forces of law and crime are a non-playable feature, ZapdosZulu offers the chance to join one of these factions. Two prominent groups within the series is that of the Police and Team Rocket; both of which now offer a radical take on the way in which your journey through Johto is experienced.
By enlisting in either organisation, you automatically make new allies and enemies, the way in which you will act as a trainer will change accordingly. The idea of climbing the Pokémon League or standing out in Pokémon Contests will no longer be the primary, now protecting citizens or gaining infamy will be all that matters. Along the way, new rewards and bonuses will be granted the higher you climb on the ladder of success.
Please bear in mind that neither of these are compulsory and are merely alternate paths offered as variety in the roleplay of the forum. This guide hopes to detail a brief description of both organisations as well as the impact of their presence. The impact of which is inescapable.
International Police Force:
The first of the two affiliations is that of the region's primary police force. Boasting a uniformed effort between the globe's regions, they are designed to uphold the law and ensure the safety of its citizens by working with federal, regional, and local agencies. Founded in response to the growing threat and tyranny that has been on the rise partly in thanks to Team Rocket's revival, the IPF also holds specialisations in the form of homicide, other branches of organised crime and Pokémon related instances.
Trainers who are interested in following the path of law and order are expected to follow rigid standards and be of competency in the departments of Pokémon battling and the way in which they conduct themselves. For their efforts in tackling law breakers, members of the IPF are awarded ribbons for their acts as well as a steady pay cheque in thanks. If there is anything that can be said of the rewards earnt from upholding the law is that it is good, honest pay.
By joining the ranks of the International Police Force, you are becoming a sworn enemy of crime and should expect to deal with the consequences that follow. Should that not deter you, your path will ultimately lead you to Cherrygrove City in order to take part in an exhaustive training course to ensure you are fit for duty. Given you pass, you will then be handed missions from the central headquarters based in Goldenrod City.

Team Rocket:
The second of the two affiliations is that of the biggest organised crime force within both Kanto, Johto and a number of less notable places. Having suffered an embarrassing defeat at the hands of a child trainer years ago, the group itself was disbanded and disappeared off the face of the planet. Troubling reports in recent times have since surfaced of the group's revival. Black jumpsuit clad men and women all bearing a telling red R on their uniform have risen in number as well as the startling leap in crime. Team Rocket has well and truly risen from the ashes of defeat at an alarming rate, stronger than ever before thanks to wide spread corruption and immeasurable monetary backing.
Unscrupulous in their methods, Team Rocket is known to engage in such crimes as theft, extortion, kidnapping, larceny, illegal experimentations, murder, assassinations and the ultimate goal of world domination; their goals and motives can be summed up in their motto: "Steal Pokémon for profit. Exploit Pokémon for profit. All Pokémon exist for the glory of Team Rocket." As such, Team Rocket are happy to accept those with a penchant for crime, nefarious deeds or a lack of a moral compass in their undertakings.
Unlike normal trainers, Team Rocket members progress via operations and special assignments. Those who excel in their assignments are paid handsomely in Slowpoke Tails, a black market currency that enables them to get their hands on a wide number of contraband and illicit goods. Furthermore, tales of your infamy will circulate and guarantee you prestige in order to rise within the group, perhaps even joining the ranks of executives or even gaining paramount control of the group.
Rumoured to have a number of secret hideouts throughout the region of Johto, the first place to look should one want to join the ranks of the organised crime group is the seedier parts of Violet City. However, those who do become part of the mob must realise the consequences it brings. Not only will you be hounded by the long arm of the law but ordinary civilians are a lot less malleable in bending to Team Rocket's will thanks to the tales of a single trainer defeating the organisation the years prior.

Neutral:
Despite the two main affiliations, the largest in number outside of the groups is that of neutral parties who are caught up in the war waged between crime and justice. The vast majority of trainers and civilians fall under this umbrella but the classification also extends to vigilantes and other criminals who refrain from joining the IPF or Team Rocket for whatever their personal reasons.
Depending on the trainer's neutrality, they can inadvertently gain hostility from both the IPF and Team Rocket. However, should a trainer be mostly law abiding, they will have no fear of repercussions from the IPF, instead only having to worry about Team Rocket targeting them.
