Upon arriving in Violet City, Alex was greeted with a cold chill from the atmosphere and the frosted landscape. He was surprised by such a changes between the windy Cherrygrove City he came from. Looking around, he saw a giant pagoda, which he had not seen in New Bark Town and Cherrygrove. Perhaps, he could take this opportunity to explore the ancient building.
However, he immediately made his way into the pokemon center and checked out a room for rent. It was easier for him to put down the extra luggage, even though he doesn't have much. He changed into jeans to fight the cold weather, as he remembered his icy battle with a youngster. He also put on a warm coat as he headed out.
This time, Tackzill won't be exploring with him in this cold weather. Luckily for pokemon, they can stay warm in their pokeball, right?
He made his way to the giant pagoda, where he saw a few sign and inscriptions, particularly the giant sign labeling the building as "Sprout Tower". What sprout? he thought as he looked around. There were hardly bean sprouts or other sprouting plants. All the plants were fully grown in one stage or other and covered in wintery frost.
After reading the inscriptions of several puzzling wisdom or poem or puzzles, he pushed the door opened and entered. The wood-like indoor felt warmed than the outside, but still cool with inefficient air-flow in the facility. He lowered the zip a little, and began to walk. Thankfully no floors were creaking.
The building was dark with some torches burning. He saw no sign of window or sun light peeking through the walls. As he continued to walk, he come upon a stair with two elderly, white-haired men dressed in traditional clothing with religious item on their head. Actually, their hairs weren't white, as he walked closer. They were just shaved. He tensed his eyes and stiffened his face at the thought of what kind of religious fanatic these men, er, monks, could be. After all, he prefer an analytical, scientific view of life.
And... to his surprise, he saw an unidentified fire pokemon battling with two bellsprouts. This seemed unfair in his eyes.
He greeted the two men and three pokemon with a soft introduction, "Hello, mister monks."
OOC: lol, he's somewhat other-type pokemon species dumb haha.

A pained yowl echoed down the hall, reaching Alex's ears just as he noticed the two monks standing side by side, watching as the Bellsprout wailed on the Cyndaquil. The fire mouse was curled in a ball, trying its best to withstand the repeated blows. Upon sensing that someone else was nearby, the Bellsprouts stopped their assault, cracking their whip-like vines in Alex's direction. This caught the monk's attention, and the two men looked up, their eyes narrowing as they caught sight of the boy.
"Who dares to set foot on these hallowed grounds?" the first monk snapped, taking a step forward. The second monk remained silent, quietly watching the young trainer. "You will leave if you know what's good for you, boy."
As he spoke, and there was a lapse in the attack, the Cyndaquil darted over to where Alex stood, cowering behind the boy's legs. The first monk seemed shocked, but his shock was quickly replaced by fury. "You aim to defend that creature?!" he hissed, eyes blazing. "How dare you?! First you infiltrate this sacred place, and then you defend this horrendous beast? On our honor as Sages of the Sprout Tower, we shall not allow you to go any further."
"Sage Chow," the second monk murmured, resting a hand calmly on the first monk's shoulder. "I have sat by long enough. We are not to use violence unless it is necessary."
Sage Chow scowled, but stepped back and crossed his arms. "Very well, Sage Edmond," he grumbled. "But if the brat tries to help that beast, we will be forced to stop him."
Sages Chow and Edmond are obstructing your path! Their pair of Bellsprout (level 10) are abusing the helpless Cyndaquil! Will you step up and protect the poor creature, or turn a blind eye You terrible person?

IC: in character Alex don't know the background.. he is just innocent tourist lol Casilk use tackle on Chow's bellsprout.
IC: "Woah, woah, woah. Hold on there. You left the door open. If you don't want people to walk in like a crazy tourist, you should put a lock on your door. Keys and lock were invented for a reason," Alex replied confidently to the "sage". Clearly he got the rational side covered and not whatever those two are sage for.
"Second," he added as his voice began to turned serious, but also a bit rude, "you can always get out of this temple and go purchase some 'Keep Out' signs and other barriers to prevent people from coming. And if you can't tell from now, I am not from this region."
Now that he got that out of his chest, he paid attention to the flaming rodent who was hiding behind his leg. Before he said anything to retort, he noted how the two elders refer to the mouse as "beast".
"Pardon me, but you might have to explain to me why are you calling this creature as beast. It looked rather small for that libel," the male trainer tried verbally to protect the rodent.
Exhaling in disappointment, he spoke again. "Sage Edmond, if you are to resort to passive resistance, please tell your colleague to back out his bellsprout. But I disagree your use of grass type pokemon. They should not be used as weapon. That should be left to fighting types or dark types or rock types..." he paused, planning his move.
Seeing this opportunity, he tossed out a pokemon and called out his cocoon pokemon.
"Casilk, Tackle that mouthful man's bellsprout!" he ordered pointing Sage Chow, then noticing the fire pokemon didn't seem to be moving.
"You're a fire type, use fire type attack if you can, I have a torchic of my own, but she hasn't learn fire moves yet..." he smirked, thinking of his hyper chic pokemon. "That way you won't be in the battle too long."
Despite "immobile", the golden silk cocoon pokemon was shifting his eyes, waiting for the right moment to move his body... Oh, he can move, but it's better for him to conserve energy.

Despite Alex's rationality, he was unluckily talking to a pair of human beings who were virtually devoid of it at this point with the arrival of the fiery rodent on their welcome mat. Looking up at him hoping to scold him for his back chattery, they instead stopped as he proceeded with a second point. By the time Alex had finished with his rather fair observations, the monks exploded one after the other. " We have devoted our lives to the way of Bellsprout!" " We shall not set foot outside of these grounds until we obtain enlightenment!" Despite their oaths of peace, one of them rather violently shoved his clenched fist forward warningly. " And I rebuke you! Have you not hear of knocking?! Harrrrumph!" Settling down, they seemed to stir angrily as they noted the Cyndaquil had hid itself behind his legs. " We hoped not to involve you in this." " You could have walked away." Shaking their heads in simultaneous movement, the two of them explained their dubbing of the Cyndaquil as a beast. " Our Elder forbids the presence of this... Beast." " Its rambunctious nature and fiery attribute will bring great calamity to this wooden tower." Nodding, it didn't sound entirely truthful. Almost as if they had come to believe a spoon-fed lie without deciding to question further. Nevertheless, even if they were teetering on a precariously balanced reason, their steadfast blocking of the main stairs meant Alex and more importantly, the Cyndaquil's, was blocked. Annoyingly enough for the two spiritual men, if they wanted to remove the Cyndaquil or attempt to discourage it, they would have to leave their posts. Not heeding Alex's advice, Edmond and his cohort responded to his attempts of violence. " You have invoked the Bellsprout's wrath." " May the heavens have pity on your actions." Flinging both of their prayer beads forward, they ordered in unison. " VINE WHIP!" Limbering forward, both of the weedy plants focused their long, prehensile vines onto the poor Cyndaquil. Having been rallied somewhat by Alex's talk the meek Pokemon had taken a step forward but was met with a harsh reality. Before it could unleash a fiery inferno, the two Bellsprout had their vines launching ever nearer. With the two of them combining their attack, each Bellsprout grabbed one of either of the Pokemon's hind legs and lifted it high up into the air. Seconds later, an alternating slap back and forth from both of the Bellsprout had launched the Pokemon into one of the wooden supports. " You will receive no quarter here!" " Begone with your antics!" As soon as they had been given a chance, the two monks had near enough forgotten Alex's presence. Casilk's order however, was enough to bring them back to the fore. " Sage Edmond, we have forgotten the interloper." " Yes, Sage Chow. Most unfortunate." Watching as the cocooned creature went flying forwards having built up enough kinetic stored energy, it went pelting into Chow's Bellsprout, hitting it square on the head comically. The comedy was short lived however, as a frenetic high pitched squeak drew everyone's attention to where the Cyndaquil had landed. Now back up and ready to attack, the Pokemon's fires had been roused. Opening its mouth, the fire rodent let out a pattering of ember like flames that landed in an excruciating lather over Edmond's Bellsprout. " NO! YOU FOOL!" " This is why we do not allow this beast on the hallowed grounds. It is too violent!" Double Battle

Alex's eyes tensed as the elder tried to rebuke him. Knocking? he thought. Now what can he counter with?
"Even if I knock, with a floor that big nobody would hear me. How about install some doorbells?" he raged, sort of. Simultaneously having a verbal fight and a pokemon battle might not be his forte.
Then, thinking back, he pondered how they would eat. "Well, you folks better have a farm in this tower to grow your own food and have enough nutrition..." he trailed off, wondering if this made any sense to them at all. And then chuckled at his own sarcasm.
He raged on, "I do not plan to involve in this, but this is bullying. Stop this act now!"
His mind streamed like the river, ignoring most of their comments. He wonder how long will he have to hear them talk. Then, he noticed that the fire pokemon and his silcoon seemed to coordinated and took one bellsprout out already.
"Good job, Casilk," he gave his pokemon an encouragement. "And thank you," he added, congratulating the fire mouse.
Then, he walked forward and picked up his cocoon pokemon, as he thought the silk envelope was too weak to attack now. Holding the pokemon with one hand, he pulled another pokeball out from his pocket.
"If you thought this fiery pokemon is... a violent beast, you might want to try this," he tossed a pokeball into the air.
Popped from the pokeball, a brown avian pokemon spread his wing and fluttered in this spacious indoor. "Rrrooooow!" it squawked, meanly.
"Scarout, Peck!" Alex ordered, hoping to end this violent bullying and maybe get out of this tower.

Sage Edmond clicked his tongue against his teeth and shook his head. “Foolish boy. There are always monks down here on the ground level. And if not, any noise echoes greatly inside the tower. Someone would hear knocking,” he replied, brushing off Alex’s snippy comeback with almost no trace of annoyance. “And we do have a place with which to grow food. We are not so foolish as to take on such a daunting task as searching for enlightenment without proper preparation.”
“Indeed!” Sage Chow raged, glowering at the teen. “And how dare you command us to abandon our sacred duty?! We must stop this beast at all costs!” His Bellsprout nodded vehemently, but not because he agreed with his master. Truthfully, he knew that the stories fed to the monks were a bunch of baloney, but the distaste of fire Pokemon suited him greatly. All grass Pokemon shied away from flames, and this Bellsprout was no different. He had just been lucky enough to live in a place where fire Pokemon were considered evil. And he had no intention of alerting his trainer to the fact that their superstition might be wrong. Cracking his vines against the floor, he advanced, ready to teach this fire rat a lesson in pain.
Cyndaquil backed up, fearful of what the Bellsprout would do to it. It had felt the sting of their whips before, and while the rational part of its brain told it that their attacks did little to no damage, the pain told him otherwise. The Bellsprout lunged forward, vines smacking smartly across the fire mouse’s muzzle and leaving red welts in their wake. In an almost knee-jerk reaction, Cyndaquil squealed in pain and angrily shot a cluster of tiny flames at the grass Pokemon. Much of the fire missed the weedy Pokemon, but the embers that did strike hissed as they burned against the Pokemon’s skin. Warbling unhappily, the Bellsprout staggered backwards, glaring at the blasted fire Pokemon and hoping that this battle would soon be over.
It seemed that his wish would soon some true, though not in the way he had anticipated. As Scarout burst forth from his Pokeball, screeching loudly, both Pokemon and monk shrieked in terror. “Sky demon!” Sage Chow yelped, waving his hands above his head in a vain attempt to ward off the Pokemon. But the Spearow was not attacking the monks. Scarout was currently dive-bombing the Bellsprout, beak stretched out in front of him so as to strike his target better. As he swooped by, the bird pelted the weed with the pecks. The Bellsprout wobbled, letting out one last wail before collapsing onto the floor.
The two monks turned to look at each other, horrified expressions flashing across their faces. “How is it that we were unable to stop this… this… brat?!” Sage Chow demanded, furious with his loss.
“I am not sure, brother,” Sage Edmond frowned, recalling his Pokemon. “But it is no longer our concern. Let the elders deal with them. Then they will surely suffer.”

OOC: YES. EVOLVE SILCOON. WHO ARE WE KIDDING? <3 I WANT TO SEE THAT BIG BEAUTIFLY MAKING MILOTIC JEALOUS.... /the latter part was sarcasm. caps for excitement.
also, updated personality:
Nature/Personality: Quiet Despite evolving, Casilk is still quiet, occasionally squealing "Beeaaauuu-". However, his new found evolution upped his confidence to flirt with the ladies, pokemon and human, whether harmless or serious. He seemed to like the attentions.
also, to whom it may concern, in-character Alex doesn't know the deal with cyndaquil and the monks lol. maybe it will be revealed on the last floor... if plot permits? P:
IC:
After Scarout poked the bellsprout with his beaks, Alex smiled as he watched the opponent fell. Hopefully these elderly men won't misuse grass type pokemon again, he thought in his head. Leave the ideology battles to other types, or something. Throughout the course of the battle, he noticed that he had been called "brat" several times, but this was no concern to him, just two silly oldies, after all.
He happily counted his two hundred and fifty pokedollar of winning with his two hands as he mentally added the values together. Now it seemed like he could get one pokeball if he needed. Just as he was counting, Scarout perched on one of those ceiling beams.
After he was done, he noticed that the fire mouse pokemon had climbed several steps of the stairs itself already. He quickly pocketed his money in a safe place and followed after, wondering why didn't the pokemon leave since he had just helped it defeat the two "Sages".
"Wait, you," he shouted toward the fire pokemon as he ran up the stairs, "you're not going to at least thank me for helping? Like a cute squeal or hug or something?"
He also wondered, if those old men were referring some other "elders", then how old were those two?
Alas, he wasn't the only running, since in his five seconds of avaricious he forget to return his spearow. After all, the avian pokemon enjoyed being alone and seldom alert others of his presence. The small bird pokemon flew after, then accurately landed on his shoulder, as the stairs was not high enough for flight. That, or he was just showing his squawky attitude.
Alex wondered what he got himself into... He was just trying to explore this traditional building in this winter...

------------------------------ The Cyndaquil stopped in its tracks, head tilting slightly as it perched its tiny form on one of the rather large steps. With a squeak of its name, it turned and continued darting up the stairs. It wanted him to help it get to what it wanted, and that was Elder Li and his Bellsprout. It wanted to show the pesky being that it wasn't all that and a pack of crackers...or something to that tune. Rushing seemed to be its thing, because no sooner had it gone up the stairs itself, Alex would find himself straight after it. Though it knew it had to look out for more of Elder Li's underlings, it seemed more intent on just getting where it had to go. The room that was at the top of stairs was old and barren, except for the single beam in the middle of the room that existed on all floors, swaying back and forth in a symbolic manner the tower always had about it. Cyndaquil darted straight for the next set of stairs. Though a sharp shout of the word halt, brought it to a short stop. It backed up toawrds Alex as a sage stepped out from the shadows, giving it quite a scare. A Bellsprout hopped out next to him, menacingly staring down the Young fire rat. "Who might you be?" The Sage asked coldly. "He who helps the enemy of this tower?" There was a sharpness to his voice that told Alex, he didn't want to be friends. "Bellsprout, see that they find their way out. I am Sage Niel, and you, Cohorts of this wretched mouse, will not go unpunished." It might have been something in his tone and what he said, but it could very easily tip Alex off, that he wasn't going to get away without a battle. ----------------------------------------- Sage Niel blocks the path to the next stairway! He sends out Bellsprout ♀ (Level 9) to face you!

Just as Alex had finally caught up chasing the quick rodent, he was surprised to meet yet another old man and another bellsprout. He came to a conclusion that monks in this Violet City have an obsession with Bellsprouts. How strange..... Also, given by what this sage currently said, they all don't seemed to like this fire mouse. He wondered how many floors of this he would have to go through. He can't exactly remember how tall it was when he walked in. It could be three or four.
"Wretched? Enemy? Excuse me?" he was baffled by the harshness of everyone in this tower. He thought monks doing custodial and menial jobs would be a little more humble and maybe less charged with attitude.
"Please explain to me about how this pokemon is the enemy of the entire tower," he paused briefly to focus himself back to the situation.
Seeing the Bellsprout as defiant as the sage, he decided to simultaneously battle and maybe find out the history of those two parties in one fight,"If you're asking a battle, I would gladly take up your challenge, monk."
He reached into his pocket and threw a pokeball toward the ceiling. The ceiling wasn't that tall, and, after hitting the pokeball in midair, a flash of bright light spawned an energetic torchic.
"Chic-chic-chic!" Rosthrem flapped her tiny wings happily as she surveyed the situation, as well as greeting the cyndaquil.
"Rosthrem, Night Slash that sprout!" charged with a strange passion, the trainer ordered his pokemon to attack. The feathered pokemon's talons glowed in a dark purplish light....

If looks could kill, the look that Sage Niel shot Alex would have turned him into a pile of smoldering ash. “Watch your tone, boy,” he growled, glaring darkly at the trainer. “Look around you! Do you not see that this tower is made almost entirely of wood? One false move from that pest and our home becomes a pile of rubble!” The Bellsprout beside him warbled energetically, clearly not fond of the idea of its home burning down. While there was some sense to the monk’s words, it was clearly blown out of proportion. One tiny fire Pokemon wouldn’t set the whole structure ablaze. But the monk continued, apparently oblivious to that seemingly obvious fact. “Are you aware that this tower’s twin, once housed in Ecruteak, burned to the ground because of a mere lightning strike? Lightning! Imagine what would happen if a fire Pokemon had started that blaze! Neither tower would still be standing! Now you see why we cannot let this rodent run amok in our temple!”
Naturally, the monk didn’t react well when Rosthrem made her appearance. “Another fire mongrel!” he hissed, eyes narrowed at the fiery bird. “Such blatant disrespect cannot go unpunished! Bellsprout! Beat our words into his mind with your Vine Whip!” The Bellsprout nodded, sliding forward on viney feet to face the Torchic. She cracked her whips threateningly, as if saying ‘Do your worst’.
Rosthrem needed no further push. Chirping out a battle cry, she charged forward, talons glowing a deep purple. As she approached the Bellsprout, she leapt into the air, kicking her legs out and spinning. Her talons slashed across the Bellsprout’s face, the purple glow leaving a strange trail that lingered behind her attack for a few seconds. The weedy Pokemon choked out a strangled cry, stunned by the force behind the Torchic’s blow.
But stunned silence quickly turned into rage as the Bellsprout remembered her duty. With a warbling snarl, she lashed out with her vines, catching Rosthrem by the foot and slapping her rapidly. The Torchic yelped as the blows began to sting and leave bruises. Finally, the Bellsprout ended her attack by launching Rosthrem at the ceiling. The young chick tumbled through the air for a few moments before she remembered to flap her tiny wings, righting herself and slowing her descent, but only slightly. The two Pokemon glared at each other while Cyndaquil watched on, an awestruck look in its eyes.

"Or you can build the tower with more heat tolerant materials, and fire sprinklers..." Alex muttered, annoyed by yet another condescending monk.
Then, just as his eyes were beginning to watch the two short pokemon fighting again, he heard the monk talked about lightning fires.
"Lightning have much more energy than typical fire from fire type pokemons," Alex corrected the elder, while at the same time forgetting what was the actual average or value of the energies by lightning. "I have never been to Ecruteak, but I hope by now they build a lightning pole nearby." He added some sarcasm to his tone.
Just as his torchic chirped, he shifted his focus back on the battlefield between the shorties. He noticed that his torchic dealt a big blow on the little bellsprout's twiggy body. And he was not surprised by the bellsprout using vine whip from this sage. Seeing this opportunity, this weakened grass/poison type opponent, he thought he could give his Unova pokemon a little training.
"Stand back, Rosthrem," he ordered, and the torchic happily ran a few steps backward, chirping rather loudly than before.
Then, he casually tossed out another pokeball, "Go, Serchavine!" He kind of regretted giving this name since it doesn't have this flair in it that he thought the other names have, but that's another issue.
The tiny salamander pokemon, happily out of her pokeball. After observing the field and identified the bellsprout as the oppoent, she turned into her friendly-go-hugger mode. She leaped quickly from the cyndaquil to Alex's leg and to the torchic, each giving a firm, tight hug.
After the unusually awkward hugging moment from his new grass type, Alex quickly instructed the next move, "Tackle that bellsprout!"
Alex watched as the snivy hissed her battle cry. He also made note to familiar his new pokemon companions.

"You insolent fool!"the monk spat, losing his patience towards the young Trainer before him. "Don't scorn at us in this sacred temple, or you shall suffer the consequences of your rash behavior,"Neil snarled as a vein seemed to pop in his forehead, irked by Alex's sarcastic tone. "Bellsprout, use a Vine Whip attack!"the monk commanded. The Grass Pokemon let out a cry of assent as long vines shot out from her stems. Before the gentle Snivy could react, the vines lashed out quickly smacking the snake across the flank, leaving large red welts that stung like fire. Serchavine cried out in pain, but refused to falter as she rushed forward at the Bellsprout. Her head connected with the plant's skinny body with a full throttle Tackle attack, sending the Bellsprout flying back and smacking against the wall from the impact. The Bellsprout felt her whole body shiver as she struggled back onto her feet, panting from exhaustion that wracked her body. The Cyndaquil watched from the sidelines, gasping as it realized that this Trainer might win this battle for sure. It had been quite surprised when the Snivy had hugged it, but it wasn't an unpleasent feeling. Was this what it was like to be with a Trainer and his Pokemon? the Cyndaquil pondered, inviting the warm, fuzzy feeling into its heart. --------------------------------------- -------------------------------------------------------------- Trainer Battle

Alex blinked in boredom after hearing that the "sage" ordered his bellsprout to unleash another vine whip. He felt as if that was the only offense they have to repel visitors. He swallowed loudly at the thought of this lack of sense in his mind. Seeing that the foe bellsprout was low on stamina to even stand on his feet, he was ready to finish up this battle. "Serchavine, just one more Tackle," he pointed to the little bellsprout, mentally omitting the "I think" part so that he wouldn't sound uncertain. Rosthrem the torchic, in the background, chirped happily as her fellow female pokemon teammate was about to finish up the battle. The chirp sounded unusually different in the large empty room, even though Alex heard the chirps in outdoor and crowded indoors more often. The snivy patted her scales and prepared her tackle... OOC: can someone update my dustox and change string shot with gust, like in this post?

Sage Neil growled angrily, still agitated that this intruder was so callously storming into their sacred temple without a word of apology to anyone. He glared daggers at the trainer, completely oblivious to his own Pokemon's plight. His Bellsprout drooped sadly, like a plant in desperate need of water. She barely had the energy to move. The monk was unaware of this, however, and spat out an order. "Finish them. Another Vine Whip or two should do the trick."
The Bellsprout nodded limply, lifting her vines slowly, as if they weighed a ton. With what seemed like an extreme effort, she slung them forward, smacking them hard against Serchavine's muzzle. The Snivy yelped as pain shot up her nose, and she brought a hand up to rub the injury, pouting as her eyes began to water from the sting. With a yippy battle cry, she darted forward, head lowered to attack the weedy Pokemon. One solid Tackle to the gut, and the plant was down and out for the count, leaving a very annoyed monk and an all-too pleased Snivy on the battlefield.

Alex smiled in his cleverly way, and proudly as he had defeated yet another sage. He happily received his prize money and noticed the cyndaquil ran up toward the next steps of stairs. He wondered why would that fire pokemon want to keep fighting the monks.
Rosthrem and Serchavine danced and hugged and cheered as the battle was over. Just a few more battles and the Snivy would be as experienced as the Torchic. Additionally, the reptilian felt the very warm furs of the avian.
The trainer held out two pokeballs and returned the pokemon, and prepared himself as he followed the Cyndaquil and raced up the stairs.
Why would such a fire mouse want to fight some bellsprouts? he wondered and questioned in his head. Hm...
