City of Gold
Goldenrod City. Throughout all of her young years, Nadia was a frequent visitor to this place, long before she was ever a trainer. Her father worked for the Silph Corporation over in Saffron City, which was just one bullet train's ride away from here. Because of his businessman duties to the companies, it wasn't uncommon for him to have to come to Goldenrod City to meet with business associates and whenever he would get the chance, he'd bring his family along to make a trip out of it. Though from Vermillion City, Nadia was still all too familiar to this distant city and knew how to get around it very well.
However, it seemed like there was a sort of curse about this place as of late. The last time she had been to the city, it was because she had left with her family from Violet City to the Bon Festival in Ecruteak and then came down to Goldenrod to see her family off on the bullet train. That's when this nasty snow storm appeared and... well, it just wasn't a fun experience at all. Luckily that snow storm has long since gone, but there was still a dreadful chill in the air.
Regardless, this wasn't going to slow Nadia Andrews down! She had to swap out her sundress for something a little more warm (a red winter jacket and a thick pair of jeans), but she still had a couple of goals in mind. First, she had to prepare herself for the gym battle against Whitney. She may be a pretty girl, but she was also pretty tough from the sound of it: Just like Nadia herself. But not only that goal, there was a separate one to achieve. Chuchu, Nadia's Pikachu, was very close to learning a powerful electric attack that would no doubt pack an extra punch in the damage she could deal. In addition to that, once she learns Thunderbolt, she was in the clear to become a Raichu! Just one level more... and then that'd be that.
Getting to Goldenrod City the previous night and resting up in the Pokemon Center, Nadia navigated her way back to Route 34 for a little bit of training. Chuchu has been getting the bulk of the attention lately, but then again there was a reason as to why. Searching through the high grasses of the area, Nadia scavenged for whatever she could find and battle with.

It was a hard time for any Pokemon around Goldenrod, cold winds chilled even the hardiest of creature to the bone. What brought out some Pokemon from the comfort of their homes or the warmth of the city was rivalry. One that burned in their blood and would not settle even for this kind of weather. For one Zangoose however, things had not gone well. Slightly ahead of Nadia the Zangoose walked out into a small clearing and looked rather worn down, for good reason. Since before the sun was up, the Zangoose had been on the run, an ambush had separated it from it's pack and the sheer number of Sevipers on it's tail was ridiculous. For now however it had given them the slip and sat down in the clearing to rest. This was not meant to be however as the Zangoose soon noticed Nadia and stood up on it's hind legs. Of all times to run into a human it had to meet one here, luck was definitely not on this Zangoose's side. Keeping cool the Pokemon raised it's claws up as it quickly assumed Nadia wasn't out here for a stroll. There was however a brief flicker of hope however, if it could beat this girl up and show off the defeated forms of her Pokemon to the Sevipers, it might just force them away from continuing their pursuit. After all who in there right mind would take on a Pokemon who had beaten a trainer? With a proud smirk now in place the Zangoose trotted forward proudly before raising it's claws up, it was go time. Time to prove what a Zangoose could do to this trainer! A pissed Zangoose level 20 has appeared and is looking to use you as a trophy, prepare to battle

City of Gold
The snow was starting to intensify all of a sudden and brr! Was it ever chilly! Goldenrod really does seem to be locked into some strange, bizarro universe of untimely cold right now, aren't they? Well, luckily the city is just a stone's throw away so if Nadia were to decide to retreat back, she and her Pokemon would be all nice and curled up in a bed with a cup of hot chocolate before you can even say "Frosty the Snowman".
Just then, up ahead, and feral and wild looking Pokemon appeared. It is a rather popular and rare Pokemon, too! A Zangoose! While this Pokemon may not be up the street of Nadia's personal preference and her team has been set in stone, this would still be a good and strong Pokemon to have. On top of that, these things are supposedly really good for handling snakes as well and that right there is Nadia's one greatest fear. Thankful this is a Zangoose and not its rival the Seviper, Nadia wasn't intimidated at all by this Pokemon's hostile appearance.
"So, you wanna fight, huh?" Nadia reached into her bag and pulled out the Pokeball with a thunderbolt sticker on top, pressing the button and increasing its size and mass. "Well, that's just fine. I was looking for a Pokemon that'd be willing to battle anyway! Let's see you get a load of this- Chuchu, come out!"
Hurling the Pokeball into the wind of the snowstorm, it burst open and revealed Chuchu who was battle ready and eager to go with cheeks sparking. Then, suddenly, once she realized how damned cold it was, she began to hug herself and shiver.
"Oh, c'mon, Chuchu! I already said the weather was going to be cold earlier!" True that Nadia has always enjoyed giving a prep talk to her Pokemon before training sessions and clue them in on what the goal of the day is, Chuchu wasn't expecting it to be THIS freezing cold out! "I don't like it as much as you do either, girl, but we're still going through with it. The sooner we can get this over with, the sooner we can get back to someplace warm."
"Chuchu..." The Pikachu muttered. She's not usually a spoil sport and always eager for a good battle, but it usually isn't freezing balls cold outside either. But would she disrespect her trainer? Hell no. The girl is out here all the time anyway, rain or shine, as opposed to the Pokeballs which are nice and cozy year round. To be out and fight for a few minutes is nothing compared to the constant trudging in this cold weather to practice with, so...
"Let's get those muscles warmed up, Chuchu! I want you to begin this fight by zapping Zangoose with a Thunder Wave!"

Nodding, and giving a quick ”Chu!” of confirmation, the yellow rodent hunkered down a bit in the snow, narrowing her eyes at her opponent. Zangoose were bigger than her, and this one was no exception. Its serious, fierce expression would have been intimidating- but really, she traveled with Nada and spent all this time going around fighting. What kind of a teammate would she be to be put off by something looking scary at her? So, in return, she squinched up her face a bit, narrowing her eyes and putting out the fiercest expression she could. Which was actually surprisingly intimidating given how cute pikachu were generally considered. The long-clawed mongoose pokemon’s eyes widened slightly at the determined, threatening look it was getting from the electrical mouse. At first this had looked like it might be no contest, but that look... that was a warrior’s look. Narrowing its own black eyes in return, Zangoose raised its arms, sliding claw against claw gently in a motion that created a drawn-out scraping sound from sharp-edged keratin. The white-and-red pokemon spread its feet out into a stance, lowering its center of balance... and then it waited a moment. It seemed almost as if the two would wait to act on a set cue- but Chuchu really wasn’t on the same wavelength as the larger, shaggier pokemon, and suddenly, without warning, the sparking of her cheek-pouches flared up. A broad arc of electricity launched itself from the rodent’s face with a protracted ”Chuuuuuuu!” of effort and a loud crackling sound. Caught unready, the zangoose braced itself- but the electricity passed over the creature’s fur without burning it. The arcing electrons had, however done something- the zangoose twitched violently as tiny sparks and arcs of lightning traced over its body here and there. With a grimace, Zangoose nodded in acknowledgement- it had been paralyzed, a smart move by its current adversary. Not to be outdone, though, the mongoose began to move. A little unstably from the erratic paralysis and twitching, but with slowly growing speed, padded feet moved, forwards, back, and then turning slightly. Forwards, back, turn. Forwards, back, turn, forwards, back, turn, forwards back turn forwards back turn forwardsbackturnforwardsbackturn! As the pace of the motions picked up, the zangoose also began lashing out with its arms- one could have called it shadow-boxing, were the warrior’s claws not fully extended, swiping and jabbing in tempo with the steadily accelerating feet. Before long, harsh breaths were letting out puffs of steamy mist into the air around the mostly-white creature, its claws gouging and jabbing into the surrounding snow and sending still more whiteness into the air. Faster and faster, slashing and whirling and jabbing and spinning and swiping and STOP One arm extended towards Chuchu, the zangoose puffed, trembling with the frenzy it had built up from its Swords Dance as well as the effects of the Thunder Wave, narrowed and now slightly bloodshot eyes locked on those of the mouse opposite. "Zaaaaaaaannnnn....."It was ready.
