Given it had no real identifying means of ascertaining its true element, it was perhaps a fortunate coincidence that Alex had gone as far to summon Rosthrem to battle. That or the aspiring doctor had a small inkling as to what the Pokemon's surprising type was. As the fiery chick sprung forward out of the Pokeball, it surveyed its surroundings but was quickly alerted to the presence of the deceiving trickster that was lashing its jaws around hungrily. For the Mawile, it had been far too long since it had eaten anything or anyone. Especially as no one had dared ventured this far into the unyielding darkness. Nevertheless, with the arrival of a unknown Pokemon onto the scene, the Mawile didn't seem cowered in the slightest, instead, the Pokemon's maw appeared to behave ever more boisterously than it had while hiding away waiting for a passer by.

Sensing the Pokemon's seemingly ill intent, Rosthrem wasted no time in conjuring up a scattering of scorching embers to bombard at the foe. Heaving forward, the Pokemon's beak parted as the embers streamed out and hurtled towards the general direction of the opponent. As if missing at first, Rosthrem began to move her attack to see if the Pokemon had slightly stepped out of the way. Mere seconds after diverting the flow of her attack, the sizzling embers found their target and a hideous screech pierced the ears over the reigning silence which oversaw the cave. Amplified by the rocky walls, the screech seemed to echo on endless, even long after the Mawile had settled down. Such a disorientating element, the Mawile's mouth went into a berserker mode. Trailing the majority of its body behind, the head went flying out with a series of rabid like bites before chomping down on Rosthrem's side with a damaging bite of its malicious, jagged teeth.

With the dim light that the torchic's ember and the pansage's flash have shown, the adventurous trainer could barely see the battle going on. However, the screeching sound of pain given by the biting pokemon have hinted to Alex that the ember was rather impressive to injure the opponent pokemon.

Seeing that this pokemon still survive from a hit, Alex wanted to experiment with some other moves on this chomping, screeching high-pitch annoyance of the cave.

And he thought Zubats are crazy.

"Rosthrem, hit it with your Night Slash!" he ordered his chick pokemon.

That move was also beginning to be his favorite move.

"TOR-CHICk!" the midget chick pokemon huffed her battle cry as she focused her energies into her talons. A familiar dark purple glow of light seemed to emanated from the nails on her talons...

Given how the move was known as Night Slash, it would only serve as testament as to how dark this squalid cave of impenetrable black truly was. As the dark energy began to glow around Rosthrem's talons, it was in perfect contrast to the unyielding dark that basked around them all when Xylent wasn't imparting his light. Given how bright the glow seemed, it seemed almost wrongly named given how the dark around them seemed like the true night. Nevertheless, Rosthrem was able to use this faint glow to further suss out where the Mawile was in tandem with Xylent. Leaping into the air and performing a one hundred and eighty degree slash with her talons, the debilitating sound of chalk down a board echoed throughout the cave noisily. Or in this case, sharp bone against steel like hide. Despite the resistance, the Mawile was verily overpowered and as Rosthrem landed to the floor with a small pat, the Mawile soon followed but this time with a heavy slump as it succumbed to its unconscious bearings.

Rosthrem chirped cutely and loudly as she victoriously defeat the opponent. Never mind the noise of the talon scratching on the steel, or the pain of that. As her battle experiences improved, her body glowed into a somewhat warm light, blinding the eyes of Alex, Xylent, and Tackzill.

Then, as the light faded, the proud trainer saw his pokemon evolved into another stage. More battles will be ahead of this torchic. But yet, at the same time, this warm-hearted torchic would be able to care others with her newly developed arms, as opposed to face-rubbing kind of warmth-giving she would give previously prior to her evolution.

Now that the evolution light has faded, Xy spotlight the taller combusken with his headlight. The male trainer can finally see the potential of this fire-chic pokemon.

Tackzill the dustox, having been with the pokemon since she was a torchic, flew a circle around and softly uttered words of congratulations before returning to the trainer's head, to avoid bumping into things in the cave.

"Heeheehee," giggled the Pansage at the evolution, as if congratulating, then leaped off and tried to tickle the fire chicken. He was quickly grabbed by her and held at arms lengths, unable to tickle her.

"BUSKEN!" The Combusken commented the monkey as if saying, "You silly! Stop!"

Xy giggled his monkey laughs some more before returning to Alex's shoulder. He held out a pokemon to return the pokemon and began turning back a little again, to avoid getting too deep and lost in the cave.

Hopefully the rain had stopped...

In the darkness, a pair of bright eyes seemed to blink in the wall. Upon closer inspection, the dim sunlight that manged to penetrate the darkness of the cave seemed to glance off a surface that gave off an unnatural glint, like shiny metal. The creature had been watching Alex and his battle with the Mawile, fearfully seeing the Steel Pokemon faint and become captured.

The Bronzor shivered slightly in the small enclosed space in the wall it was hidden in. It wondered if it should try to flee before Alex noticed it but fear made it frozen in place. It tried its best to remain as still as possible, hoping Alex wouldn't notice its presence. However, it failed to realize its glowing yellow eyes that were fixated on Alex were quite obvious.

Wild Bronzor (Lvl 14) appeared! Its glowing eyes are quite noticable...

After the battle with the mawile, the inspiring doctor headed out of the cave to check the weather. As the trio was walking in the dark light of the cave, Tackzill noticed something odd about a wall. She gently lifted herself off Alex's head and investigated. The trainer and his guiding-light Pansage continued walking straightforward until a soft voice suddenly spoke up.

"Tox, tox, tox!" the female pokemon muttered quickly, to alert the other two-third of the trio.

Xy heard the noise and tugged Alex. The two turned around and notice a strange, unusual steel plaque on the cave wall.

"This looks like a steel type...." Alex muttered as he attempted to reach his hand to touch it. Then he saw it blink once.

Twice.

He jerked his hand backward from the sudden surprise and was glad that this wasn't some floating ghost.

Taking several steps back, he called out a warm-hearted pokemon.

"Go Rosthrem, if this thing attacks, Ember!" he ordered, but of course, he wouldn't hope that this thing would want to attack them... It's just.. blinking

[Morrigan]

Staring heavily at the fingertips of Alex's hand as it hovered closer towards the Pokemon's body, it couldn't help but blink and in return, caused Alex to back off. Now that it's presence had been found out, the creature had no choice but to defend itself. Spinning out of the wall and hovering around the darkness, the odd Bronzor levitated behind the male trainer, yellow eyes scanning from him to each of his Pokemon, examining their attributes. Vibrating warningly whilst shrieking out an odd, metallic cry, the Bronzor appeared to be issuing a challenge... Well, in the eyes of a human, anyway. It was more than content with just running off but it had already met the eyes of the previously evolved Rosthrem. Stomping forward with her mighty Combusken feet, the yellow avian like Pokemon didn't have to try too hard with her attack.

A perk of her head and opening of her beak and out shot a flash of orange embers. Feeling the heat touch it's body, the Bronzor spun around manically, hissing and shrieking as it went. Feeling slightly cooler, it turned back to Rosthrem, body shaking rapidly from side to side. The shaking turning into a frantic circular spin, an odd wave emitted from it's body, an unseen force hitting the Combusken and forcing her into a state of confusion.

Alex was observing what the effect of the ember was on this non-rocky pokemon. Yet again, the response on the pokemon was rather dramatic. The last one Rosthrem used ember on seemed to shriek or something. Perhaps this cave wasn't filled with rocky pokemon as he had thought.

Although, however, he wasn't sure what attack the blinking metal just used. It looked like rapid spin but it wasn't that rapid, in his opinion, not to mention, typical rapid spin involves actually hitting the opponent with the user's spins.

What was that spinning move? he pondered.

Wanting to continue the battle, he ordered his now combusken, "Rosthrem, Ember again!"

lol, Alex doesn't know she's confused, maybe because the time gap between ordering the attack was short and he didn't see the effect of confusion. XD

[Andrew]

A chain of stars circled Rosthrem’s head as Alex gave the orders. The fire-type couldn’t see or think straight as a result of her opponent’s previous move. Alex seemed completely oblivious but Bronzor was pretty satisfied with the attack. With a bit of luck, this would buy the steel-type some time. The Pokémon lowered its defences as it watched Rosthrem struggle to attack. Just as it had hoped, the Combusken began to swing her arms at her face, effectively lowering her hit points.

As soon as it was sure it was safe, the bronze Pokémon made its move. Its eyes and body began to emit an intense red glow which allowed it to take temporarily take control of its foe’s body. Rosthrem suddenly began to pound herself in the face repeatedly, adding to the damage she’d already done. Light bruises emerged on her face as Bronzor’s power over her ceased. The Combusken collapsed on the ground, but she soon pulled herself back up again. She still had a lot left in her but hopefully she’d be able to overcome this state of confusion soon.

CURSES, Alex thought in his head as he saw Rosthrem hit herself in the face with her giant fowl claws. Bad idea! So Combusken was confused! That's what this steel thing did!

The trainer immediately pulled the fire pokemon's pokeball and returned it.

"Return, Rosthrem, calm down a bit from the confusion!" he recalled to let his pokemon rest a little.

"Time for a prank, Xy, Lick that 'Blinky'!" he ordered.

The Pansage on his shoulder immediately leaped off on the floor, cackling as he went. The evil laughter echoed throughout the cave. As far as how will this licking will go, Alex was not sure. With the light still beaming from the Pansage's head, it might be bad obvious to the opponent what he's doing. Maybe this imp will lick its face from the front or from the back? Or does side-licking work?

Going back to it's staring state, the Bronzor felt no confidence or anything of the sort as Alex decided to withdraw the confused Rosthrem. This Pokemon felt no emotion and instead just remained floating, eyes wide as it's body gave the odd spin. However, as soon as the trainer switched Pokemon, this strange looking mirror had enough reason to lash out. The beaming light which shone from the bush on Xylent's head struck a nerve with the Bronzor. Not being used to such bright light, it shrieked as the rays danced across it's eyes, body spinning into overdrive. Moving about in odd directions, it eventually crashing straight into the tiny frame of the Pansage, it was just a shame on the Bronzor's part that Xy felt no pain. Instead, the cheeking monkey wrapped it's limbs around the odd creature, pushing out it's tongue and giving the Pokemon a huge lick across the face, sending shivers across the creature's body.

Briefly shaking once again, this time it managed to unhinged the pain which was Xy and it's second defensive plan was kicked in. Clearly the trainer wasn't fond of the confusion tactic so maybe a bit of sleep would prove better. Emitting silent sound waves which would only effect the target, Xylent remained still on the spot. His own large eyes blinking, he became slightly confused in his own way. When was the attack coming? Or, it was more the case of the attack had already been issued but the monkey was still awake, thus it must've failed.

Even though Alex usually cautiously battle, this pokemon have been annoying him. Even though his Torchic had evolved into a Combusken with more power, this spinning steel-wall thing managed to confuse his main fire power and reduce its health. Not to mention, the Lick by Xy just now was kind of weak to this thing. It would be terrible to waste time licking down its health.

No way.

He needs a plan, or maybe some recklessness. Taking his time licking this thing won't be a plan. And using his unplanned team of grass and bug pokemon with limited moves is also bad. In fact, his only main hitter would be his Combusken. Those vine whips won't make a dent on this plate of steel. And his Dustox's Confusion won't be harming this sentient metal.

His mind wandered as he paused and think what to do. It was as if a whole minute had passed until the dustox on his head bobbed his head a little to "wake him up".

In between deciding burning this "Blinky" live and risking his combusken, and using convoluted strategy of calling his other pokemon to slowly wear this down, he finally have come to a conclusion.

"Xy, we're switching again!" Alex commented, and the Pansage made a funny face toward the Bronzor before turning to the trainer's shoulder.

The face, clearly was a childlish face-making of "opening your eyes wide and pulled your lips into a wide smile". He thought it was creepy if you're also seeing this in a dark cave with a light on your head. But Alex also find this naughty pokemon have some points for humor.

Back to the battle, Alex knew this would be one of this biggest risk taking. Hopefully his pokemon won't hate him for that.

"Rosthrem, Ember this thing again!" he tossed the pokeball as he shouted and the voice echoed.

His orange fowl came out of the flash of light, ready to heat some metal.

As soon as the switch was decided upon, the Bronzor seemed somewhat bemused in contrast to the last time Alex had made a switch while the Pansage pulled a face at it while it made its speedy retreat. What greeted it instead as the light from the Pokeball died down was the overgrown chicken fowl that it had been duelling with in the rounds prior. Still expressing any sign of emotion or quirk, the Bronzor merely stared creepily at Rosthrem as it began to concentrate its inexplicable psychic powers. Its eyes round and like saucers, they seemed to glow with a mysterious energy as they affixed to Rosthrem's own eyes. Entering deep into her mind, the Pokemon began to bombard her mind with confusing images, thoughts and suggestions that started to make the Combusken act more than a little erratic. Starting to quickly bend back and forth while plucking at the ground, the Bronzor was instead making the Fire type smash its head against the floor as opposed to plucking. Eventually relenting as it felt its psychic reserves falter, the Bronzor remained stationary as it floated in the air. Shaking her head ruefully, Rosthrem may have been hit with confusion but she wasn't going to let the Bronzor's confusing tactics get in the way of burning hot revenge. Causing a burst of fiery aura to cloak her outline, Rosthrem opened up her beak as she shot forward a barrage of searing embers that appeared to melt at the Steel type's body. Causing it to lose all of its power, the Bronzor fell to the floor with an echoing clatter as it swivelled around before balancing perfectly on the ground. It had been a rather hectic battle but victory had been ultimately claimed.

Alex exhaled heavily in relieve as his combusken melt some steel today. He would have to go reconsider his travelling plan with his party of pokemon. For now, he would love to get out of the cave and see what weather the outside of the cave would be.

"Good job, Rosthrem!" Alex smiled as he returned the pokemon, not before the orange fowl picked up the Dustox off his head and give it a somewhat strangling hug.

The trainer also returned the flying bug pokemon, and proceeded to made his way exiting the cave. With the Pansage guiding, Alex hoped the weather would clear up... He walked carefully with his hand feeling and tracing the cave wall as a guidance, and soon, the dim light of the sun peeking through the clouds and faintly reaching the cave can be seen.

The outside certainly was not too bright, nor was it too dark and wet with the rain.

"Let's get out of here," Alex muttered to himself, and maybe to his Pansage as they exited. The smell of freshly watered grass awaits them.
