He hadn't really been expecting to be attacked by an Oddish, a Pokemon that looked more like a living weed than it did an animal. The amount of these creatures that just seemed to be plants with faces was baffling; how did evolution happen in such a way that the plantlife began to develop faces and extremities? Maybe when all this adventuring and experiencing the world was over, he could see about looking into such topics. But for now, getting too distracted from the fight happening in front of him would be a foolish mistake.
Roger Rabbit, a relatively new addition to the team, seemed more than pleased with himself after his quick assault of the Oddish with his ears. Honestly, even Matthew was a little surprised that the rabbit's ears could pack that much of a punch. He hadn't expected Roger to take to combat so readily, truth be told; appearances could be deceiving, he supposed. Still, as much as he might have felt bad for the Oddish and its attempts at resistance in this fight, he knew there was already an Oddish awaiting him with the rest of his team's reserve members. No point in dragging this out by trying to catch another.
"Excellent shot, Roger!" he complimented the rabbit, offering his current partner a smile. Acquiring the little rabbit was clearly the right choice; if he could keep up this kind of performance, the Gym Badges would be his in no time. There'd be nothing to worry about with mons like Roger to back him up. But no point in getting cocky or dragging this out now. The sooner they eliminated this Oddish, the sooner they could continue on with their trek. "It worked so well the first time, try battering him with another Double Hit!"
The rabbit would no doubt take to the instruction well enough; he had been so eager to fight, it would only make sense that the Buneary would leap into action against its current foe. Based on his own mental math of the situation, this should hopefully be enough to wrap up the encounter and let them go on to the next leg of their adventure.
OOC: Buneary uses Double Hit, again.

Matthew's question was one which many researchers had asked themselves as well, although most would theorize that it was the other way around. Not that it was a plant growing a face and personality, but a pokemon which evolved to get a plant-like exterior and abilities, or perhaps even that it was a symbiosis between a pokemon and a plant which both benefitted from and now you couldn't tell them apart anymore. Unfortunately none of the fossils which had been found until now, could give any answers on how it had become so. The pokemon turned plant stomped around, annoyed with the human's lack of apologizing and retreat after he had rudely stepped on it. He should have known better and watched where he put his huge feet, it didn't matter that he would have had no chance of spotting it when it had been buried in the ground. "Oddish Oddish!" How dared they celebrate and enjoy this battle, it would teach them a lesson or two, it was just so bad it had the worst selection of moves in its own opinion. It knew some of its kind could spread all kinds of spores which could really wreck the opponent, and some had some awesome draining moves or could even shoot moonshine like beams! Itself was really bad at stealing energies and then it could throw a bit of poison, it was nothing and it was no wonder others stepped on it all the time. Roger Rabbit leaped forward and slammed the oddish to the ground with his ears and for a moment it really did look like that was in, but then the oddish rolled back up on its feet again. It opened its mouth and a thin stream of purple poison sprayed out and all over the buneary, it made his skin itch and burn and had been much more effective than the absorbing it had done the first time. Not that it looked like the oddish realized the difference, it was not like it had the ability to poison anyone anyway. The little weed was proving to be a bit more resilient than he had first anticipated it to be. After Roger Rabbit's debut in the fight seemed to do a significant amount of damage, he had been expecting the rabbit to mop things up here fairly quickly. But as the bunny landed its ear assault on the plant creature, the Oddish was able to muster up some kind of counter-attack. With what little energy it still seemed to have, it spat up a blob of acidic purple liquid at Matthew's current partner. Judging from the Buneary's reaction, it was clearly not a pleasant experience.
"When I realized you were hiding the weeds, I had assumed you would be kind of weak or passive. Clearly, I was mistaken," Matthew offered a few words of praise to the Weed Pokemon. He was unsure if the Wild Pokemon even remotely cared about his words; the thing seemed particularly miffed when Matthew had accidentally trampled upon his home and body. He wouldn't blame the creature for just ignoring anything that came out of the Trainer's mouth. "For what it's worth, I'm sorry. Both about the stomping around and for knocking you out like this. But I can't afford to be held up here for much longer."
"Roger, it's been working well so far. One last Double Hit and your new friend can go back to sleep," Matthew ordered to his rabbit-like companion. Despite the delay on his apology, he did feel somewhat bad for trampling upon the Weed Pokemon and disturbing its rest. It was only natural that the monster chose to attack him over the accidental offense. But nevertheless, RogerRabbit the Buneary would have to shake off the acidic assault so he could leap into action and (hopefully) end this with another barrage of ear strikes.
((OOC: Roger uses Double Hit once again. Also you had mentioned the event and I have already started checking out the Adoption Center. May put in an application for a new 'mon sometime soon.))

The oddish paused and stared offended at Matt. Found? FOUND?! He stepped on it! That was how he found it and it still wanted an apology for the terribly way they had treated it, not some stranger's thoughts about how its strength was or should be. What would the next thing be? That he gave it unwanted advice on how to behave or train to be like Matt wanted? It clearly didn't expect the next thing that came out of his mouth and it stopped right in its tracks to stare at him, its little mouth fell open. Had.. had he really apologized? It took a hesitant step forward, not really believing what it had heard. It frowned a bit confused as he excused himself for something. Held up.. the only one who kept him here was himself, he could have apologized from the start and just moved on, what did he mean? The oddish never got its answer, unless Matt decided to bring it with him in the end, as RogerRabbit extended his ears in a rapid succession and knocked the blue grass type over and it went out as a light. The nocturnal lay in the middle of the road and could easily be plucked by Matt if he decided to catch it. Or he could leave it behind and let fate decide what would happen for it next. RogerRabbit grows +3 levels to [Lv 8]! He can learn Baby-Doll Eyes if he forgets another move! He also gains +1 Happiness! (+1) New player protection makes it possible for you to catch fainted pokemon if you wish: Oddish Name: [choose] Gender: [choose] Level: Absorb, Growth, Acid Ability: Chlorophyll Nature/Personality: [choose] Happiness: 0

((OOC: Passing on the Oddish. Also, filling out the info for my recently adopted Rookidee:
Rookidee Name: Bishop Gender: Female Level: 1 OT: Leilani Keoloha Moves: Hone Claws, Peck, Leer Ability: Keen Eye Nature/Personality: Bishop is a young and up-and-coming Pokemon, having once been part of a mighty flock of Corvisquires and Corviknights before ending up in the hands of breeders in Johto. Bishop is eager to prove herself, idolizing stronger bird Pokemon like the ones from their flock and wishing to emulate them in their own travels with Matthew. ))
Matthew watched as the battle reached its natural conclusion. Despite the perceived gap in experience of age between RogerRabbit and the wild Oddish, Roger was able to deftly outspeed the plant and give it a prompt smacking around with its twin ears. The plant would collapse under the rabbit's assault, Matthew feeling a small pang of sympathy for the unconscious plant-creature. For a moment, he considered taking the young plant with him as a new companion, but he thought better of it. He already had an Oddish, for one, and also the wild creature seemed to have no love lost for Matthew or his Pokemon given their uncomfortable first meeting. Best to just let it be and hope that they would not cross paths again. Matthew gave Roger a pat on the head and returned him into the ball, satisfied with the rabbit's performance.
Matthew approached the fallen plant, picking it up gently and carrying it out of the way of the grass and footpaths. He set the fainted Pokemon under a tree off the beaten path, where it would not be stepped on by any travelers or eaten by any wandering Pokemon. He already felt slightly bad enough about getting into a fight with it, no point in putting the creature in any more danger. When he was satisfied with having the Pokemon out of the way, he continued on with his walk down the winding path of Route 30. As he kept walking, however, he could see a house in the distance. A bit odd for someone to be living this out of the way and away from town, he thought to himself. Still, not unheard of. Besides, it would be something worth checking out, and a welcome change of scenery from the grassy walkways that seemed to make up most of his trek thus far.
Matthew continued on toward the house, curious as to what would be awaiting for him in this sudden desire to make a social call.
((OOC: Gonna end this thread here and do a Quest or two before I move on to Violet City.))
