Amalia's Challenge (Joey)

[LUNAR]

Amalia was walking along the streets of Cherrygrove City, her Charmander Zero trotting by her side. She was carrying the Pokemon Egg securely and carefully in her arms, looking around. "Char, Char!" Zero cried, tugging at her dress. Stopping, Amalia blinked and gazed down at her partner. "What is it, Zero?" she asked. "Char!" He cried, pointing towards a man with a Koffing for a partner, causing Amalia to blink.

[The REAL Joey]

Joe was looking around the stores in Cherrygrove with his Pokemon Koffing out when he let out a deflated sigh. "I was hoping there'd be something a bit more exciting than this here. It seems all the action is happening elsewhere." He shrugged and turned with his eyes closed. "I might as well carry on along my way to Violet City." He stopped in his tracks as he felt the presence of someone in front of him. He opened his eyes and to his surprise a girl was standing there with a Charmander in tow. However, his eyes slowly affixed themselves onto what she was holding. A small glint appeared in his eyes and he began thinking to himself wildly. "An egg! An EGG! Hah, I wonder what rare Pokemon may be tucked away safely in there." He shook his head and thought better. "Silly Joe. No more stealing for you." He corrected himself. He walked up to her and smoothly offered her his hand to shake. "Greetings to you. I see you're a fellow trainer. The name's Joe." He looked to her with a smile.

[LUNAR]

Amalia blinked slightly and a friendly smile greeted him, shaking his hand. "Pleasure to meet you as well. I'm Amalia Rae, and this is my partner, Zero." she said, looking down at her Charmander. "Char, char!" He let out, smiling as his flaming tail swished back and forth slightly. "We started our journey two days ago. What about you?" she asked in curiosity, not meaning to pry.

[The REAL Joey]

Joe listened to her words and bowed his head slightly as she introduced herself. "Amalia you say? That's a pretty name." He smiled to her as she explained her journey. "Two days ago, huh? Not long been in the business then, huh?" His eyes examined her a little bit more closely and came across her other Pokemon balls. "Still, looks like you've got quite the haul of Pokemon!" As she asked him her question he responded. "Ah i've been journeying about all over the place. I've been in Johto for a couple of weeks now. Travelled all the way over from Kanto... Felt like a change of scenery you see." He was about to continue when Zero's energetic behaviour caught his attention. "Your Pokemon seems pretty excited. Does he battle at all?" Asked Joe inquisitively. He was starting to think meeting this new trainer may not be so bad after all. Perhaps he could arrange a battle with her and kill a few minutes.

[LUNAR]

Amalia nodded in response to his statement, blushing at the compliment on how he said her name was pretty. "I'm from Kanto as well. I was born and raised in Cinnebar Island." she replied. She looked down at her Charmander and smiled. "Yes. He does battle often. He enjoys new challenges, don't you Zero?" she said. "Char, char!" he cried, making her laugh softly.

[The REAL Joey]

Joey raised an eyebrow as she mentioned where she lived in Kanto. "Interesting, I used to hang out a lot by the biking road... Well, operative word being used to." He chuckled slightly and absent mindedly rubbed the back of his head. As the topic quickly changed back to their Pokemon, Joe decided to propose his idea to her. "Say, seeing as we're both trainers... Why not let us have a battle just for the sake of battling? I've got time to kill and seeing as your Zero likes a challenge I reckon it could be pretty interesting..." Spoke Joe as he began to drift off and reach for a Pokemon ball from his belt.

[LUNAR]

Amalia blinked at his sudden challenge and smiled, nodding. "I accept! Sounds like fun." she said, smiling more. Her Charmander smirked in confidence and the flame on his tail brightened. "Char, char!" he cried out.

[The REAL Joey]

Joe grinned as her Charmander was sent out first. "Time to exploit the weaknesses..." He strategised in his head and went for a Pokeball he had not used before, although he had a fair idea of what was inside after hearing some commotion about a special Pokemon. As the ball began to materialise the Pokemon from inside it, Joey was slightly amused to see a Pikachu holding onto a surfboard had popped out. He cocked an eyebrow and let out a small laugh. "A surfing Pikachu huh? Perfect. Sure there's a level difference but..." He shrugged and looked at his Pokemon. With a commanding voice he issued his attack. "Let's put your special move to good use! Surf's up!" Signalled Joe for Pikachu to use a Surf attack.

[LUNAR]

Amalia's eyes widened slightly as she heard him say to his Pikachu to use Surf attack. "Brace the attack, Zero!" she commanded. "Char!" he replied in agreement.

[Andrew]

[[OOC: Sorry, I wasn't sure when I was supposed to reply to this. If you weren't ready, just tell me and I'll delete the post. Amalia, you didn't choose an attack. I'll just say that you went with Ember seeing how you use that the most.]]

Zero spat an Ember attack at Pikachu. The little mouse Pokémon quickly shook off the flames. Its health had been damaged quite a bit, but that didn't stop it from making its move.

Pikachu hopped onto its board and performed a Surf attack. Despite the massive level difference, the attack did nearly as much damage to Amalia's Charmander. The move was super-effective on Zero and the Charmander struggled to withstand the attack.

Both Pokémon stood strong and were ready to make their next moves. The tension was rising now. The battle was nearly unpredictable.

[The REAL Joey]

Joe gritted his teeth slightly as the ember directly hit Pikachu. The little rodent seemed to be okay despite such a heated attack. Pikachu quickly readied it's board and slammed a huge wave into the Charmander which had him shake his fist in excitement. "Alright! Looks like we're on level playing field." He shoved his bandanna up slightly and then ordered Pikachu it's next move. "Follow up with a second Surf attack! We need to get this Charmander on the ropes." Pikachu nodded and readily grabbed it's surf board and prepared the next wave.

[LUNAR]

"You all right, Zero?!" Amalia called out in a worried tone. "Char!" Zero called out in a sweet tone. She smiled and nodded. "Okay! Use scratch attack!" she commanded.

[Andrew]

Zero obediently clawed at Joe's Pikachu, attempting to keep up its slight lead in the battle. The Charmander did a little damage, but the attack didn't seem as effective as the last one. Pikachu seemed to just shake off the attack effortlessly.

It countered the Charmander's move with a second Surf attack, doing equal damage to its previous move. The Pikachu had easily overtook Amalia and her Pokémon's lead.

The battle was really interesting. It would be difficult to decide the outcome of the match. It was possible for either of the Pokémon would win.

[The REAL Joey]

Joey grinned to himself, slightly surprised by the might of this Pikachu. "'Kay my little yellow friend, ride some more of them waves! Keep up the momentum and eventually the opponent will topple!" Joe looked onwards as the Pikachu looked more determined than ever despite being in the face of such a big level difference. It's surfboard was once again readied at it's side and it's cheeks sparked warningly.

Amalia bit her lower lip but glared. "Hang in there, Zero! Use an Ember attack!" she commanded. Zero nodded and glared as well, preparing his aim.
