Taking a break from the ladder climbing of his career in Team Rocket, Tobias had turned to the quaint locale of Cherrygrove for some R&R. Having recalled a particular cafe which he had frequented during his time there, he decided to indulge in a coffee and breakfast. Taking seat at the table and awaiting his order to be served, he picked up a newspaper and flipped it open as he began reading through the news. Never seen without, Prometheus his Pansear was also accompanying the criminal. Distracted by the articles found in the newspaper and no sign of their order turning up any time soon, it was needless to say that the simian was bored silly. Swinging from the back of Tobias' chair, the Pokemon let himself down onto the ground as he decided it was time for a little adventure. Scattering off, the monkey went behind the cafe itself and found himself in a residential district. Letting out a disconcerted sigh, the Pansear realised it was likely to be even more boring in such a sleepy road but all of a sudden, an item piqued the Pokemon's interest. Letting out a cheeky cackle, the Pansear hurried over. At the front of the house's lawn was a pair of fancy looking sports trainers.
Their orange and white design was alluring to the monkey. With a quick scan of the lawn and content nobody was about, Prometheus swiped the trainers and hurried off into the bushes in the hopes of not being seen. Untying the laces that joined them together, Prometheus placed both of the shoes on his own feet. Skilled, the Pokemon was able to tie the laces up tightly so that they hugged to his small feet. Coming out of the bushes triumphantly, he wore the trainers albeit looking a little out of sorts with how oversized they were. Hurrying back to where the cafe was located. He appeared just in the nick of time as a waitress began serving the order. Lowering his newspaper, Tobias looked to his Pokemon who was now standing before him and raised a very incredulous eyebrow as to why his Pokemon was now wearing a pair of trainers. Deciding to ignore the elephant in the room altogether, he folded down the newspaper and took a sip of his coffee before indulging in the breakfast he had ordered.

It felt like she had been so long since departing from New Bark Town, though it couldn't have been more than an hour. Karin arrived, and looked down at her flip flops. While she was perfectly content walking around barefoot, or with just the simple flats, it was easy enough to acknowledge that proper shoes were needed.
A brief stop off at the nearby outlet would net her a good pair of proper shoes for running. Strapping the velcro down, Karin did a few hops in place before sprinting back out to Route 29.

Warren and Ororo had met up for a quick cousin meetup after they had both been traveling for so long. They had been discussing all of the new Pokemon they had been meeting. Ororo detailed all of the new Water types she had been studying and Warren explained the interesting and beautiful Pokemon that he had been recruiting. In the midst of their conversation they noticed a man advertising running shoes. Warren and Ororo were no strangers to living in the fast lane, so of course they had to take this man up on his offer. Excited, they sprinted off their separate ways, Ororo to Bugsy's gym and Warren into a possible Houndour fiasco...

Aphrodite's warm, golden-eyes sparkled as she glanced up at the entrance leading inside of a small, but cute little boutique. The golden-haired beauty had heard that the little boutique was know for selling a lot of cute items for low prices. Her dainty hands pressed against the door, pushing it open as she slid inside of the boutique. A small smile curved against her lips as she strolled through the boutique. Everyone was right, the boutique did have a nice array of cute items for low prices. Her keen eyes soon captured the sight of a pair of cute running shoes that was on display. Usually, she wouldn't think about buying a pair of shoes that were not by famous designers. However, at this point she needed a pair of good running shoes to wear along her journey. She loved wearing her high heel shoes, but it was starting to become even more of challenge for her to travel in. She picked the correct size and carried them over to the clerk. She flashed the clerk a warm smile and swiped her credit card before walking out of the store with a new pair of cute running shoes.

That was it. Why did she want to travel again? Her feet were killing her. Perhaps it wasn't the best idea, no matter how luxurious and comfortable, to wear big heels trekking through the winter snows. Ice was a killer, especially when one's footwear was metal at the base. Her boots were lovely and great for the quick trips but she had been wandering up and down Route 29 and the Cherrygrove streets for far too long, nearly driving her to take a seat on a frozen bench partially piled with snow. Her desperation had been noticed. After a long moment of standing, staring at the public bench, she made a reach for it. But as she did a gentle old voice called out to her in a jovial tone. "Sitting on a cold bench won't do you any good, young lady!" An elderly man chuckled. He had approached at amazing speed she noticed. Flinching back at her sudden company the woman let out a small squeak. "Where the hell'd you come from old man?!"He laughed, amused with himself. "Oh ho ho! You probably weren't expecting a frail old man like myself to come up so quick!" He received a hint of a look to confirm his statement, but before she could shoo him off he continued; like every old person short of company and wanting to talk. "It's these runners I have here see?" The man lifted a foot to reveal his styling running shoes. "Best shoes around I tell yah. I can run all around this city and feel like my feet are walking on clouds. You should really try them and go for a run. Keeps you warm in the cold and prevents foot ache."Lenore frowned at the man, lips curling back as if trying to deny her consideration of the guy's helpful banter. Maybe she did need new shoes... The Guide Gent chuckled once again, reaching behind him to pull out a fresh pair of running shoes. "Here! I'll let you have these." The elderly man offered the shoes at arms length, the brand new pair receiving a skeptical look from the showgirl. "... You can't really just be giving these--" She was cut off, the man beaming a smile at her. "IF! You accompany on my running route. I can tell you're unfamiliar with the city. I can take you around and show you where the PokéCenter and Marts are."Well, it was better than she thought it was going to be. With another look at the snow piled bench Lenore plastered a hollow smile on her face and accepted the deal. Running shoes obtained!

After the festival of love was over, things were returning to normal in Cherrygrove, and Dorthea was out looking at the cleaned up city in the early morning. A sheet of rain had passed by overhead making surfaces glistening wet. This Dorthea found out when she first set foot on the wet asphalt. The water seeped in at the bottom of her shoes, turning her socks wet and cold in seconds. "Aah," Dorthea whined in frustration and picked up speed. She didn't want to return to the Pokecenter already, and she didn't have any other shoes to change into anyway. There was no point. When Dorthea had walked almost half an hour, even her wet feet were warm from the excersize, and Dorthea could even laugh a little at the slurping sound it made with every step she took. She knew she needed new shoes, she just hated having to shop for them. It was so annoying to find a pair she liked that fit her. Voices broke into her train of thought, and she saw a group of people gathered around an old man. She suddenly remembered Aglaia telling her about the old guide, and joined the group eagerly. He immediately noticed her, and Dorthea waved happily, as he seemed to accept her late joining up. In the end she ended up with walking with the group for half an hour more, and her feet happened to get cold again, since they stopped all the time to listen to a story. She tried to follow the stories, but sometimes her mind drifted, and she lost track thinking of a hot cup of cocoa in front of a blazing fire. She was very happy, when the guided tour reached its end, and she got to pick a pair of running shoes in her size. She couldn't get back to the Pokecenter fast enough afterwards. A dry pair of socks on and the new pair of shoes, and she was all set. It was half an hour well given out. It beat looking around in shops for two. (Ooc: obtaining Running Shoes for Dorthea)

@tagged | Although she'd only just started her journey, Sebastene shortly reached Cherrygrove. She planned on heading back towards New Bark Town in hopes of studying more Pokemon, and learning more about her own team. However, she wanted nothing more than a warm meal, a soft bed, and a Pokemon Center to rest up her Pokemon.
Upon entering the small city, she was accosted by an older gentleman. The young scientist, although tired, couldn't say no to the older man, and began to follow him around the city on his tour. She took note of the various buildings, although the only ones of interest to her were the Pokemon Center and Pokestore. However, she humored the older man, following him throughout Cherrygrove.
After the tour was over, Sebastene ducked into the Pokemon Center, happily devouring a soup. She purchased a canteen of it, and left the Center to head back towards NewBark Town.
However, as she was doing so, she heard a splat. The trainer looked down, and stared at the pile of Pokemon dung she'd just stepped in. Well, she was never going to get that off her shoes.
The tourguide man suddenly appeared, pressing a pair of tennis shoes into her hands insistantly, insisting that she use those shoes to replace the ones she were wearing. Thanking him, she changed shoes, and headed off.

Sandy and Ivan were off to do one final favor for Sandy's mother before they went their different ways once again and continued on their respective quests. Sandy and Ivan's goals were very different, with Contests being in Sandy's mind and a career in doctoring in Ivan's, it was fair to say they were very different, but it didn't mean that they couldn't spend some time together as a family once in a while. They were cousins after all.
"Alright, so where was that mailbox again?" Ivan asked, looking down as Sandy carefully took the letter from his hand and deposited it in a nearby box. "There." Sandy responded with a kind smile, Ivan chuckling as he caught up to the short distance she had traveled. "Alright, slow down native, you nearly lost me." They noticed a bit of a crowd up ahead and Sandy and Ivan exchanged glances. "What's going on over there?" Sandy asked, though she didn't seem to keen on walking directly into the crowd.
"Stay here, I'll find out." Ivan Promised her before vanishing into the small crowd of people. Sandy only waited a few minutes before Ivan emerged again, two sets of shoes in hand. "Locals are friendly here." he said with a broad grin as he handed Sandy a pair.

The route between New Bark Town had not been long at all. At a brisk pace, Beatrix imagined she could have walked through in about an hour, maybe two. However, that was not what had happened. Between the wild pokemon encounters, the other trainers she met and the simple curiosity of exploring a landscape so different from her own native land, the short trip had taken much longer. Stepping into Cherrygrove, Beatrix breathed a happy sigh of relief at the sight of some familiar buildings. A PokeCenter in Johto seemed to look similar to the ones she knew in Hoenn. She could use a rest and she knew that Medley and Nyx must be feeling pretty worn too.
Half an hour later, Beatrix left the PokeCenter, refreshed and eager to explore the new town. Having spoken to the employees at the PokeCenter she had been told that Cherrygrove was quiet and unassuming and that that the more busy and exciting towns were up ahead. The next city even had a gym! However, Beatrix’s curiosity demanded that she fully explore before she moved on. She rounded around the corner of the dirt path and came face to face with a bent, old man. “You there!” he said quickly, his eyes darting to hers before Beatrix had the chance to look away, “ You look like you could use some new shoes!”Beatrix blinked, stunned. That was an odd way to start a conversation. The man hadn’t even looked at her feet before he’d said it. Beatrix awkwardly looked down at her hiking boots. She had worn them for many years, and with the amount of travelling her family had been used to, they were pretty worn down. “Umm, I guess?” she replied, looking back up at the old man whose face lit up approvingly, and he stepped away to rummage between some boxes that were piled at the side of the house. Beatrix hadn’t expected that. “Wonderful!” the old man piped up as he searched, “I’ve got plenty of shoes here, you see, I hand them out to new trainers as they come through Cherrygrove. There haven’t been too many trainers passing by lately and I’m overstocking!” “Where…where do these shoes come from?” Beatrix asked hesitantly as the man straightened up and pushed some red running shoes into her hand. How had he known her size? “Never you mind, lass,” the old man said with a wink, “I know my business well, I’ve been doing this for years.” He stretched out the word ‘years’ to make it seem like an infinite amount of time. “Well, thank you!” Beatrix said, looking down at the shoes appreciatively and deciding not to look a gift horse in the mouth. She tried them on and they fit perfectly. “That’s very kind of you.” “I don’t suppose you’d humour an old man and let me give you a quick tour of the town? It’s my pride and joy this town is!” The man puffed up his chest proudly. Beatrix smiled. “Of course,” she said, “lead the way.”

"Little lady! Over here!"
Tanya paused in her tracks, expression one of mingled surprise and bemusement. Little, her? The old man who was waving enthusiastically at her seemed kindly enough to dismiss any thoughts of feigning ignorance, and so the redhead strode over to him with a slight grin. "You need any help, sir?" she asked, brushing a stray lock of hair out of her face. The wizened face gazing up at her broke into a wide smile, and he seemed to grow even more animated. "Well yes you can missy! See, I've got something good you trainer types would definitely appreciate," the old man babbled. He leaned back on the bench he was resting on and kicked up his feet, decked out in some snazzy looking shoes, inadvertently sending a wave of foot odour Tanya's way. She waved it away with a choking cough, but the old man seemed not to notice as he continued speaking. "I can get my errands done twice as fast in these comfortable sneakers! You have some nice boots, dear, but they're no good for making efficient use of your time," he said, much to her minor indignation. There was nothing wrong with her boots!
"So how about taking a pair of these shoes for your journey? A gift from me to an aspiring young trainer," the senior concluded, looking expectantly at her. Tanya had to work to hide her dismay - was she to take the smelly, and likely sweaty, shoes directly off his feet? As if sensing this, the old man grinned and pulled out a box from under the bench, handing it to her with a hearty laugh. "Hohoho! No, you can't have MY shoes! How else would I get home?" he chortled. Tanya scratched behind her ear with her free hand and accepted the shoe box with the other. "Oh, w-well, thank you," she said sheepishly, not entirely too certain about what to think about this whole encounter. Surprising her again, he leapt up from the bench with a startling springiness for someone of his age. "You don't have to put them on now, but indulge an old geezer like myself and allow me to demonstrate the guaranteed speediness of these with a tour!"
She'd long since learned most of what Cherrygrove had to offer, but he HAD just given her a free pair of shoes, and she wasn't the sort to reject an elderly man's earnest request. Upon seeing Tanya's nod, he sped off like a rocket, leaving her to follow after him nearly full-tilt in utter amazement.
---
Cherrygrove was not the best place to offer high-quality goods, but Ashton was always on the lookout for a great sale. He had come back upon seeing a notice for a sale at a moderately upscale shoe store, only to be accosted by some elderly man who claimed to have much better shoes for a 'handsome young lad'. Not really flattered in the slightest, but also not inclined to be disrespectful and possibly be seen by some lurking paparazzi, Ashton had let the old man prattle on about these supposed wonder shoes. When he was shown said shoes, currently worn by the gentleman, it had taken a herculean effort not to grimace in disgust. They were so far removed from his style that they were almost alien to him. Looking into the man's wrinkle-lined face and expectant smile, Ashton couldn't bring himself to insult the footwear and wound the man's pride. So with a rather forced smile, the model accepted the gaudy shoes and managed to grit out thanks for the gift before beating a rather hasty retreat.
Seems the Guide Gent has had no lack of company! Two pairs of running shoes have been distributed

Taking in the sight of the town our green haired girl was obvious to the fact that she was being watched, it was not till the moment a voice spoke up right next to her. “Hello there, you look like one of those young spry trainer types?” The elderly man said standing right next to Lin, she had not heard him at all and jumped slightly, startled. Lin tilted her head in confusion, trainer types, since when did she have a type?
“Yes, I am a trainer, can I help you?” They had an elderly woman back at her home town, which was also a bit odd, perhaps it was something that came with old age. He mimicked her, tilting his head as well. “No…” There was a long pause, confusing Lin even more, before the man continued. “But I can help you! See these sneakers, with shoes like mine you are fast as the wind. Here try them on.” He held out a pair, which Lin accepted reluctantly. “Thank you, you really didn’t have to…” He brushed her off. “Nonsense, now hurry up and try them on.” She complied, taking off her own shoes and putting on the sneakers, they looked quite fancy, but how would they be better than her old ones?
“Ready are we? These are Running Shoes you see, with these you can accomplish so much more. Watch this.” Lin watched flabbergast as the old man vanished in a cloud of dust, she never seen anyone that fast before. “Come on Slowpoke, can’t stand there all day, race me to the pokemon center.” In a mad dash they both took off and the old man was right, running in these really made you feel like the wind.

Red ponytail swinging behind the young woman as she strolled through Cheryygrove. Each season was always a joy to see in each town. She wasn't in too much of a rush but she had heard from someone that she needed to see the Guide Gent and that she could replace her rather worn pair of trainers for a better pair of shoes, but also to be sure the ask for a tour of Cherrygrove. She wound her way through the streets of Cherrygrove trying to remember how to get to the gentleman's house. After many turns down wrong streets she finally came upon the house and the gentleman sitting outside on his porch in a rocking chair. "Excuse me," she sheepishly said and the gentleman looked at her. "I've seen you before, you were inquiring about the poor water quality I believe." Megan smiled that the old man remembered who she was and nodded, "that is correct sir. And your thoughts were very helpful in the long run." She said remembering the conversation well.
"I came here today because I heard word that you give tours around Cherrygrove? I'd love to learn more about this quaint little city!" The older gentleman smiled and got up from his rocker, "Well, I am very happy you asked! Let us be on our way!"
As Megan and the gentleman walked around the town he talked about all the different types of buildings and what they were for, as they walked people began to form a group and followed along all 'ooing' and 'ahhing' at what the guide had to say. At the end of the tour the group ended up back at the gentlemans house. With a little flourish he pulled out a pair of new trainers and handed them to Megan thanking her for the opportunity to show her around. Shocked Megan blushed and took the shoes gingerly and thanked him profusely. He explained their help on her journey and she continued to thank him as she sat down on his porch steps while he returned to his rocking chair and the crowed dispersed.
Taking off her old worn out pair of trainers and tying the laces up before putting them in her bag as an emergency pair in case something happened along the way. She put on and laced up the new trainers noting how much better they felt on her feet compared to her old shoes. She stood, thanked the gentleman again before she began to stroll the streets of Cherrygrove again off to more adventures.

Having secured a Pokedex Kevin headed to the other stop he needed to make before taking on his first gym. He had remembered rumors of a local guide who would give a special pair of shoes to anyone king enough to pay him a visit. Kevin was used to his boots but if a pair of shoes would help his mission in any way he would gladly wear them. Samantha was still riding on his shoulder with Oracle by his side as they approached the guides house. Without getting a word in the hyperactive man gave them a grand tour of the town. Kevin knew everything the man pointed out but he endured the painful urges to knock the mans lights out and take the shoes. The tour finally came to a close as the old man handed Kevin a pair of running shoes. After thanking him Kevin changed shoes and made his way to the Violet City gym. Running Shoes obtained!

Dark and his Charmander had finally made it to Cherrygrove City, and had begun to explore said city. Being that the Johto region was still so new to Dark, he knew he had a lot to learn about it. He'd done a great deal of research before leaving his home in Sinnoh, but seeing it all in person was something different entirely, which was something that Dark was slowly but surely discovering for himself. And then, as Dark and his Pokémon partner turned around a corner, they came upon an elder gentleman out in front of his house. Given Dark's dislike for other humans, he just kept on walking, with Charmander sticking close to him, paying the elder man no mind. Dark was never a very social person, at least not when it came to other human beings. However, the elder man certainly took notice of them, turning to them with a warm smile on his face. "Woah there, what's your hurry son?" The elder man said to Dark in a friendly tone. Dark suddenly stopped, and slowly turned to face the man. He might not have cared for other humans, but Cynthia had always taught him to at least be polite, if only a little bit. The old man walked over to Dark, keeping his smile on his face. "Well now, Ive never seen you around these parts before. You must be another new trainer. What's your name my boy?" Dark didn't feel like socializing at all, but decided to at least humor the old man before him. "Its Dark. Dark Prodigy. And my partner Charmander." Dark gestures to the small Fire type beside him, and Charmander is quick to return the old man's smile. "Char. Charmander."
The elder gentleman nodded, making a mental note of the trainer's name. "Well its nice to meet you Dark, and Charmander. They call me Guide Gent, but you can just call me Gent." The elder man let out a small chuckle, but Dark didn't say a word, and just kept looking at the man with his usual uninterested expression. Even so, the old man took no offense to it at all. "Since your new to Johto, I don't suppose you'd object to letting an elder gentleman like myself give you a tour around Cherrygrove City, would you?" He made Dark an offer, never once losing his friendly smile. Dark wasnt really interested, but looking at the elder man's smiling face, he mentally sighed, and once again decided to humor him. Dark gave him a nod, and Guide Gent happily began the tour, showing Dark and Charmander around the city while they followed close behind him. When the tour had finally come to an end, the small group had returned to Guide Gent's house. The elder gentleman thanked Dark for spending some time with him, and Dark thanked him for the tour. Despite Dark's lack of conversation or social skills, the elder gentleman didn't seem bothered in the least, which was a bit of a surprise for Dark. As Dark turned to leave and continue on his way with Charmander, the old man stopped him once more. "Oh yes, before you leave, I insist that you take these with you." He holds out a pair of sneakers, handing them to Dark. "These are Running Shoes. Perhaps a new trainer like yourself can make use of them. Please take them." Dark had heard about Running Shoes, and he did indeed believe that he could get a lot of use out of them. So the trainer reached forward, and accepted the shoes from the elder guide. "Very well. I will wear them." Dark took a moment to change his shoes, taking his old shoes off, and putting the Running Shoes on. Once that was done, Dark took one last look at the old man, then turned and continued on his journey with Charmander at his side. Guide Gent watched the trainer and Pokémon leave him, still smiling, and wishing them good luck on the rest of their journey. Dark's speech. Charmander's speech. Guide Gent's speech. Soon Bane and Mizu had finally got to Cherrygrove. Bane's home, well....was at least. They were walking along the place heading to his old home. And it wasn't long before an old friend of bane's family. Showed up.
"Why hello there bane. good to see you again. I see you have a pokemon." Bane turned and smiled when he saw the old man. "Hello sir, yeah I do, he is called Mizu I got him from the lab." The old man then chuckled, "Let me guess you stole him?"
Bane then chuckled, "Maybe" You see this old man wasn't any old man, this guy used to be apart from team Rocket. And as such he knew what Bane did to the house and knew the man behind the mask.
Bane though didn't mind, he trusted the man. And with that said Bane and the man shook hands to be at least partly polite. "So where you heading off to?"
"Oh we are heading to my personal tailor to see if I can get them to make a jacket like mine for Mizu. Cause he kinda likes my jacket." The old man chuckled at that one. "I see well here is something for your travels."
It was then the old man gave Bane some shoes. "Shoes?" "Yes my boy, they are special shoes, running shoes, allows you to get to places faster and they seem to give an edge in battle. Could be quite helpful for you."
Bane nodded and chuckled, "Thank you, ill make good use of them." "See that you do, well good luck on your travels and good luck with Team Rocket." Bane rolled his eyes making the old man chuckle before the old man walked off. OOC Running Shoes time!!! @tags Running Shoes obtained!
