After leaving the town of new beginnings behind, Venom and his trusty Bulbasaur finally arrived in Cherrygrove City. The second stop on their journey through Johto. The poisonous pair walked through the city streets, taking some time to see the sights and just relax. They both knew it'd be a long time before they reach the end of their journey, but they still wanted to take every chance they had to explore this new region of the world and everything it had to offer. Trainer and Pokémon smiled, as Venom began to think about everything he'd left behind at his home in Kanto. Venom had to admit, he missed them already. His father, his sister, and his home all together. However, the ninja wasnt about to let any of that stop him from making his dream a reality. Venom was a man on a mission, and he knew he'd finish it one day, and return home with his head held high. But Venom was getting ahead of himself, and quickly decided that it might be a good idea to have a local show him around the city. Just so he could get the lay of the land. Venom stopped walking for a moment, as did Bulbasaur after, and the ninja then took a look around, trying to find someone who'd be willing to show them around the city. This didn't take long, as Venom quickly spotted an elderly gentleman outside his house. Smiling, and putting his ninja training to use, Venom quietly walked over to the elderly man, as Bulbasaur followed behind him like usual. Once they reached him, Venom gave him a tap on his shoulder to get his attention. "Pardon me sir." The old man was taken by surprise, and gasped, before quickly turning around to face the young trainer. "Oh my!...You startled me young man." The elderly gentleman took a few deep breaths, as Venom got a few laughs in. "Sorry sir. I guess I don't know my own strength. Im a ninja from Fuchsia City in the Kanto region." Venom explained to him, then the old man smiled at him, surprised again, but in a good way this time. "Oh yes, Ive heard about Fuchsia City's ninja clan. What brings one of you ninja's all the way to Johto?"
Venom was more then happy to answer the man, as well as tell him his name. "I came to Johto to begin my Pokémon journey. My name's Venominon Ouroboros. Its a bit of a mouthful, so you can just call me Venom for short. And this is my partner, Bulbasaur." Venom gestured down to his Pokémon partner at his side, and the small Pokémon hid behind Venom's leg, rather shy around new people. "Bulba..." The old man smiled once more at the trainer and Pokémon before him, always happy to see new faces in the Johto region. "Well let me be the first to say welcome to Johto. They call me Guide Gent. I don't suppose you'd be interested in a tour of Cherrygrove City, would you?" Guide Gent offered to Venom, and the ninja was quick to nod at his offer. "Actually yes, that's why we came over to you. Thank you." Venom bowed to Guide Gent in thanks, staying true to the lessons Koga had taught him. "Splendid then. Lets begin. Please follow me." Guide Gent turned, and began to lead the way through the city. Venom and Bulbasaur followed close behind him, despite Bulbasaur's ever present nervousness. Guide Gent showed the two everything Cherrygrove City had to offer, from the Pokémon Center to the ocean. Once the tour was finally over, the small group returned to Guide Gent's house, but Guide Gent had one more thing to offer to the ninja before him. Asking Venom to wait a moment, Guide Gent went into his home, and came back out with a pair of running shoes, offering them to Venom. Venom looked at the shoes before him, a bit surprised by this. "Ive heard of these. Their running shoes." Guide Gent nodded, smiling at the Poison type ninja. "That's right, and they can be very useful to all new trainers. Id like for you to have them Venom." Venom shook off the surprise, then smiled back, and took the shoes from Guide Gent, bowing to him once more. "Ill be sure to put them to good use. Thank you Gent sir." Venom put the running shoes away for later. "Its no trouble at all Venom, Bulbasaur. I wish you both the best of luck on your journey." He and Venom shook hands, then Venom and Bulbasaur continued on their way, now with a new item in hand that is sure to come in very handy from here on out.

Shivering as she walked towards the city of Cherrygrove, Donita rubbed her arms up and down for warmth as her teeth chattered from the cold. Despite her wearing a warm, comfortable hoodie jacket she was still cold. "Good lord it's f-freezing out here.." she muttered under her breath as she trudge onward. Her shoes were covered in the snow, adding layers to each step she took and she felt the warmth from her feet melt the icy particles from the outside fabric of the shoes seeping inside to her feet. Her brown eyes shot to her shoes as she walked. "I am going to need a new pair of shoes.. these are not cutting it and my feet are freezing!" "B-bubla" Justice responded rather chilly. The snow wasn't that pleasant for the grass type Pokemon either but at least it could bare the wetness of it compared to the trainer. But it was agreed that it was just too freaking cold. "I mean.." Donita looked around the scenery at the trees that were planted with snow tops and how the snow seemed to cover literally everything. "I could of sworn it was warm weather, summery and nice just a few minutes ago." She peered down at Bulbasaur. "Am..Am I going crazy?" The grass type just stared at it's trainer blankly, not saying a word before moving forward before it's owner. The young woman frowned taking the silence for an insult. "...well nevermind then.." Just as they were reaching the outskits of the city. A strange old man appear out of the blue with a rather cheeky expression. "Well, hello there! You must be a new trainer! I can tell for you do not have the running shoes like mine!" And as he spoke he clicked his heels together with glee. "U-uhm.." Donita begin. "You don't have to say a word young lady! Here. Take these!" And he promptly shoved a pair of rather nice shoes into Donita's hands before briskly running off without really explaining the reason behind his actions. Blinking in a confused state Donita looked at the shoes curiously and found a note: "Here is what you call: Running shoes! Put them on and put a ZIP to your steppin's! - Mysterious Old man." Nathan having just made his trip from Newbark to Cherrygrove he found an old man waiting down the road. Confused he started to make his way to the Pokemon centre, where the man stopped him. "wait, wait! let me show you around! I'll tell you how this city works!" he sprinted down the road and Nathan raised and brow. He wasn't going to be able to keep up with this speed at all. He sprinted back and looked puzzled. "oh sorry! You don't have a pair I'll slow down!" To Nathan's relief, they went around the town pretty much without trouble ending back at his house. He told Nathan to wait a moment sprinting once again into his house. "while we went around I was sizing you up for shoe size! These must be in your size!" Nathan looked down at the box the old man was holding. They indeed looked like his size "thanks" he said taking them and putting them on. @tags Insert comments and other notes here

As Damien woke up in Cherrygrove City after having arrived from New Bark Town, the Dust Storm that followed the rain continued to go strong. It made it hard for the trainer and his Pokemon to see. As they walked around the town, they were met by a very energetic old man, who ran up to them with incredible speed for his age. "Why hello there!" The old man said to him. "You must be new to town. I am called the Guide Gent, I live here in Cherrygrove. I show newer trainers around the city. If you come with me, I'll show you around town and what you can expect to see in each town as you travel around Johto."Before Damien could even give any kind of response to the elderly man, he darted off, seemingly expecting Damien to follow. His speed was impressive for his age, or at least Damien thought. It wasn't what he was expecting to do first thing in the morning, hanging with the energetic old man, but Damien found the info he told him very useful and interesting as they traveled around the city, looking at the Pokemart, the sea, the Pokemon Center, and more. Eventually, the Guide Gent and Damien ended up at his house. "I'm surprised you were able to keep up so easily and so well!" The old man said, while letting out a few breaths from having ran all around the city with Damien following. "For keeping up so well and listening to me the whole time, I have something for you." The Guide Gent disappeared into his house for a few minutes and then returned, holding a box in his hand. "This is for you! New, fresh running shoes just for you. They'll put a zip in your step! Go on, try them on...!"
Damien received the Running shoes! ((Self Updating.))

Just noticed Andrew doesn't have Running Shoes yet haha
With two badges now, there was no longer any sense of mystery to Cherrygrove City for Andrew. The city was small and there wasn't really anything notable around. But still, it held good memories as Andrew had met many of his closest Pokémon friends around there.
Sipping on a lemonade and listening to music through his earphones, he strolled down the busy streets, smiling as many novice trainers passed him by. For now, he was taking a break from training. It was good to spend some time recovering now and then. Today he was unashamed as he blared different pop songs. He knew nobody could hear over the loud street noises.
In the distance, a crowd was inconveniently blocking the street. "Wonder what's going on," Andrew remarked quietly to himself. He decided to continue towards them, regardless, hoping he could just slip past.
As he immersed himself in the group, he realised that everyone's attention was fixed on an old man who appeared to be giving a speech. He unplugged one earphone to figure out what type of meeting he was disturbing.
"And that concludes my tour. Take a pair of running shoes for yourselves, everyone!" The old man raised his arms and laughed loudly as dozens of trainers dived to find a pair of fitting shoes. As they did so, a signpost that read 'Guide Gent's House' caught Andrew's eye. He shrugged and imitated the others, picking up a pair for himself. His own shoes were falling apart by now so these would definitely come in handy.

March: After taking a break from training his Pokemon Marchbaby made a pit stop to pay a visit to a man known as the Guide Gent. He was known for helping new trainers on their journey and was known for giving them gifts. Marchbaby was not a new trainer but he was not above getting help from someone and gifts were always a good thing. After stopping by the house he visited the man for a while when the guide gent handed him a pair of Running Shoes to help him move a bit faster through his journey. For some trainers a new pair of shoes would not be a huge gift but for Marchbaby he was quite thankful. " Thank you very much, I will make great use of these running shoes." He then replaced his old shoes with the new shoes right away so he could take advantage of their added mobility.
Tyler: Tyler had heard of a strange shoe obsessed man who lived in Cherrygrove and decided he would take a pair for himself as his shoes had become quite worn out after being used for so long. He waited for the sun to go down before approaching the man's house and started to pry open a window trying to be as quick as possible not caring about the noise. Luckily for him the guide gent got a visitor at the door which just covered the sound of the popped lock for him to enter without the man being aware of his presence. Tyler searched the first closet he saw and found a stack of boxes containing shoes and dug through the pile until he found a pair in his size. After putting on the new pair and placing his old pair in the box he stacked the boxes how they were so some other poor trainer would get his shoes. With his heist complete he left through the window and ran as fast as he could so no one would be able to link him to the heinous crime.

Sara had finally made it through the first route after some effort. She had arrived outside of Cherrygrove City. She had been wandering around for the last day and a half, and for the last half of a day, the melting snow had been turning the once solid ground to wet mud. Her once-new boots were starting to show that they were more designed for fashion, and not so much for practical travel. Her eyes lit up as she saw the shoe store sign. “Ahhh!” Sara shouted, watching as a happy family exited with a brand new pair of shoes. Sara quickly ran up to the glass of the store and started peering through the windows. An elderly man was inside, speaking to a woman who was about Sara’s height. He was showing her a rather flashy pair of sneakers. Sara’s eyes lowered to look at the woman’s shoes. “What the heck?” Sara thought to herself, ”Those shoes practically look new, why does she need new ones?” The older man noticed Sara’s peering through the window, and adjusted himself so that the woman he was talking to wouldn’t notice her peering into the shop. As the woman tried on the new sneakers, the two of them shared a laugh. “Man, I wonder what they’re talking about. They look happy, I wonder if they have coffee…” Sara thought to herself. Suddenly, the woman stood up, still wearing the new sneakers, and the man gestured towards the register. Sara quickly ducked out of view, suddenly feeling quite embarrassed as the man shot her an aggressive look. Sara looked down at herself and realized she was still covered in mud, and probably looked like a crazy homeless person. She slowly wandered away from the building, still curious about the woman who was trying on the new shoes, Sara retreated back towards the edge of the city, still in view of the store. Sara let her squirtle out of its ball. “Hey Kellen! Could you rinse out my hair?” Sara said, sweetly to the small squirtle. It looked at her blankly, then burped a small stream of water. “Yeah! Do that again!” Sara said, lowering her hair down towards the ground. The squirtle burped again, and Sara quickly rinsed out her hair in the liquid the squirtle was producing. As the clear liquid hit her hair, it quickly turned brown as Sara scrubbed her hair. “Thanks Kellen!” Sara said, smiling. The squirtle trilled happily, and nuzzled against Sara’s leg, then started squirting more water at her. “No! No! Stop that’s enough!” Sara shouted, attempting to block the stream of water erupting more forcefully from the squirtle. As Sara struggled to wrangle her squirtle, she quickly became soaked. She heard a soft bell chime as the shoe-store doors opened, and the woman walked out, still wearing the brand new pair of shoes. The woman looked over at Sara, who was in the middle of the road at this point, in a large puddle of water, holding a squirtle by the leg as it relentlessly spat water out at Sara’s pants. She scoffed, and turned away, then started walking away. As she walked, she headed over to a trashcan that was by the side of the road, and dropped the shoebox she had just purchased into it. A few minutes of embarrassment later, Squirtle had finally stopped blasting water at Sara, and was now marching away from her happily. Sara quickly took this opportunity to retrieve Kellen’s pokéball, which had been squirted to the edge of the road, and then returned the water pokémon to its ball. “Phew…” Sara said, as she started walking down the road heading towards the main part of the city. As she passed the trashcan, she peeked inside. “That woman had just bought these sneakers, why throw them away?” Sara thought to herself. She leaned into the trashcan and grabbed the shoebox, then opened the it. The pair of shoes that the woman had been wearing before she tried on the new shoes was inside. “Oh! This must be her old shoes!” Sara said, happily. They were still in pretty good shape, and only half a size too large for her feet. She looked down at her own boots. “Maybe it’s time for an upgrade!” Sara said happily, throwing off her now thoroughly soaked, but clean, boots, and changed into her new, old, sneakers. “Comfy!” As she threw the empty box and her old boots into the trash, she noticed that the shoe-store owner was glaring at her. “Yikes…” Sara thought, quickly walking away, “That dude sure is weird.”
Sara scavenged the Running shoes!

{ } She had wandered a great deal around the streets of Cherrygrove, but there was one other place she hadn't stopped by. Karna followed close behind with an excited chirp, at least someone was happy to explore the city along with his trainer. The orange chick Pokemon hadn't looked where he was going until he crashed near the door of a building. "Torchic! Tor!" He was sent bouncing back onto the ground until he looked up at the sign. "What is it, Karna? Is that a place to buy shoes?" Upon closer inspection, it was probably just a house that didn't look remotely like a normal shoe store. Nonetheless, she and Karna opened the door to the house where they were greeted by a whole aisle of shoes. After traveling all this way, it was better to get some new comfy shoes, and what better way than to ask the owner of this house? An old man's voice spoke up during the apparent silence. "Hello, young lady! Do you need some comfy, new shoes to replace your dirty old ones?" Amaryllis turned around to see an elder mustached gentleman with a derby hat and a brown suit smiling at her. She wasn't sure what to make of the guy except he was one weird fellow to be running some kind of store without customers...somehow. After a moment, she answered him. "Uh yes, I believe I do need a new pair." The old fellow nodded, and went off to the back of the store, presumably to rummage through a box. After what seemed to be like 15 minutes of waiting, the old man returned with a box, smiling all the while. "Here you go, a new pair of shoes for you! Have a safe travel!" She took the box from him, and went over to a wooden bench before opening said box. While she would carefully take off her old shoes, she put on the rather comfy and clean pair of shoes. Luckily, it matched her shoe size, so now, she was on her way out of the eccentric gentleman's house, but not before throwing away her old pair of shoes into the trash bin. With that, she was back outside with Karna in tow before looking back at the house, and walked away. OOC: @staff MADE BY VEL OF GS

Like most young trainers Bishop had gone on the grand tour of town with the Guide Gent shortly after arriving in Cherrygrove. He found that he rather liked the fellow and could have stayed and listened to his stories of wandering adventure for many hours if they had the chance. If there was one thing Bishop liked it was a good story and the older gentleman seemed to have plenty of them. "And so that was how I found my way out of Ilex forest that night. Mind you it was probably only the wind whistling through the trees that made that haunting sound but at that point I wasn't going to take any chances. I ran out as fast as my running shoes could take me." Bishop's attention perked up a bit at the mention of the shoes. He had heard of them but didn't yet have a pair of his own. From the tales he was told they were an item any aspiring trainer should get as soon as possible. "I've heard of those but they didn't have any left in the pokemarket," he said with a frown. "Not sure when they will get anymore in." The Guide Gent shook his head sadly. "They sell out pretty quick. We can't have you roaming around without good shoes though. Come with me, I have an idea." Bishop followed along, curious as to what the fellow had in mind. Soon they were at his house and the man asked him to wait for a few moments. Soon he returned with a shoe box. "I had a spare pair. Never been worn. If they fit I will gladly make a gift of them to you." The young trainer grinned and tried on the shoes when they were offered. As it turned out they fit pretty well. Though his new benefactor wouldn't take any money for them Bishop did thank the man and, after agreeing to return some day and share the stories of his travels, he was on his way. Next stop Violet City!

For once Lei was enjoying a nice afternoon stroll in the wintery Cherrygrove, she had finished todays chores and was looking for a good place to get dinner later on. She spotted an old man walking slowly with a sign and she paused to read it, he saw her and when she answered his smile with one of her own he came over to her. "Do you want a tour?" He asked kindly and Lei looked surprised at him. "Here? Now? What are there to show of midwinter?" Lei asked laughingly but the man just smiled. "Plenty for the one who has time to look, but yes the flowers people often comes to see are not present this time of year," he said kindly and Lei got intrigued. "Well, then show me, I like to see new things and learn places secrets," Lei said and gestured for him to lead the way. Lei spent couple of hours enjoying the trip around Cherrygrove with the guide, whose name she learned was Gent, and learned a lot about the city and its history. When he learned about her work by catching pokemon for the professor, he also showed her places pokemon often gathered in different times of year and told her about good fishing spots. When they said their goodbyes he told he had a little thing for her to remember the day, she thought it would be some sort of tourist junk, a key chain or something like that, but it turned out to be a pair of good shoes. They had a Cherrygrove logo and a pattern of flowers. "They are an festival item for some years back," Guide Gent told and showed her the date, "But they are good shoes for when you need to walk all day, and you won't get another pair like this.Lei laughed and thanked him for the gift, she promised him she would recommend him and the city to others. Tristan had been making solid progress on his journey thus far, the teenage male was thoroughly enjoying the time he had spent with his pokemon travelling along the routes between towns and cities. Each day in the Johto region was different, whether it be the constant change of weather or the abundant amount of wild pokemon and pokemon trainers that inhabited the region, each bringing a new challenge to face and Tristan was ready, willing and able to face them head on.
After arriving in Cherrygrove City, Tristan made tracks towards Guide Gent's House, the teenage male had previously received a notification on his pokedex that the old man was handing out pairs of running shoes to new trainers who had made it this far in their young fledgling journeys. Having a pair of running shoes would indefinitely come in handy for Tristan, after all he wasn't used to walking overly far for extended periods of timing having come from Pacifidlog Town in the Hoenn region, a place surrounded by water and wooden bridges connecting the town together.
Tristan noticed the old man sitting out the front of what appeared to be his home as the teenage male introduced himself. Gent was a lovely old fellow whose personality was infectious, Tristan was almost sure would give his last dollar away to a worthy cause if the situation arises. Tristan received the pair of running shoes from Guide Gent and thanked him for the generous donation before continuing on his way.

The Guide Gent was his name, and guiding was certainly his game. As he bolted around the city of Cherrygrove, Theo and Galahad themselves found it somewhat hard to even keep up with the hard man. It was definitely a nice intro to the life of being a Pokemon trainer and what to expect in cities, but most of the stuff he talked about Theo truthfully already know. (Though he would not say it; No hurting the man's feelings here) It was definitely an interesting job, giving a little tour to all the new trainers to Johto on how useful these buildings and tips are. "Huh?" Theodore asked, as the tour came to an end and the old man offered some running shoes to help him become quicker. "Ah sweet! I'll make sure to make good use of them!" With that, him and Galahad went sprinting towards route 30 only to find it... Flooded. Whoops.

If she had met the guide gent, things may have been easier for Faith. Through him, she may have been able to learn where she could sleep, or earn money and eat. Unfortunately, he hadn't been there when Faith had first arrived to Cherrygrove City. If he had been, she had never happened across him while there. Instead, she'd managed to find the Pokemon Center on her own, but that was it. Then she'd had to make do on her own. She hadn't asked the nice lady at the Pokemon Center, which may have saved her some time too. She just didn't understand how things worked well enough yet, and it would usually take someone else taking the initiative to help her out. Which means she'd spent her time finding a comfortable place to sleep that night under the stars. It would be far from comfortable and not something she could consider pleasant. Besides, were people even allowed to sleep in the city? How was she supposed to know? Looking for a spot to sleep wasn't all that easy, either. She'd found the idea of sleeping where everyone could see her very uncomfortable. It would be easier, in a way, to sleep outside of the city rather than inside. Only the Pokemon would see her then, but then that came to another problem: Pokemon could be dangerous. After all, her uncle had been killed trying to capture a Pokemon. She was aware of the dangers, and knew her Pokemon weren't strong enough to defend her yet. What if she happened across some powerful Pokemon? That was a bad idea, so the city was only her only option. While looking for a place to rest, she came upon something else: a pair of sneakers. They looked a little old, but in good enough shape for her needs. They were clearly thrown out, and found among a stack of old, empty boxes. It was obvious that no one would be missing them, but Faith still felt a touch of guilt. What if they were accidentally left behind? She didn't see herself as a thief, but the shoes were in much better shape than her current ones. With a heavy sigh, she took those shoes and settled down around the empty boxes for the night. If nothing else, if they were left on accident, the owner could come looking for them there. If that happened, she'd just hand them over and that was that. However, by the time she'd woken up, no one had been there.

Oh yes, Vitra had experienced these dust storms- more than once in her life. It was a nuisance, but not really harmful. She just kept her head down and trudged along, her team all tucked away in their pokeballs to keep them from dealing with this as she had to. She might just hide in the PokeCenter when she reached Cherrygrove to wait out the storm. It was because of her lowered head, her eyes fixed on the path to keep herself going straight, that she didn't see the older man in time to keep from bumping into him, and she gasped and then backed up a step. "Oh, I'm sorry, I didn't see you there.""Now, that's okay," the man replied, and his smile was genuine, even if short. "I suppose I shouldn't have been standing right in the road, hm? Say," he added, and his gaze dropped to the pokeballs at her waist. "You're a trainer, aren't you?"Vitra nodded, and when the gentleman reached into his satchel and pulled out a pair of shoes, she blinked at them, and then back up at the man. "They're yours!" he told her. "Take them, and make good use of them. I hope they'll do you good down the road."Caught a bit off guard at the unexpected gift, Vitra hesitated a moment more and then offered a smile. "Thank you! I'll use them, I promise.""Excellent! Now if you'll excuse me, I think I'm going to head home, and you should get along to the Pokemon Center." With a last nod, he started off, and Vitra made her own way toward the building, clutching the shoes with every intention of trying them on the moment she was inside. Obtained Running Shoes!
