Haley wasn't certain about this Bug Catching Contest. Sure, she was always open for ways to test and challenge her Pokemon, but she didn't like leaving her things with the hosts. A thief herself, she didn't trust them not to make away with her things. She'd had the foresight to leave her Pokemon in her hotel room, but had been forced to turn over any Poke Balls to the hosts.
Knowing this was a bug-type hunt, she'd instantly known that she would bring Honou. Her starter, now following her order, their trust rebuilt, held a type advantage over the bugs, and would be able to get her out of any tight fixes.
Honou at her side, the Team Rocket Grunt set out to look through the park, hoping to find a useful Bug-type.

Haley startled as an Illumise suddenly shot from the brush, and Honou jumped, flaring the flame on her tail. Seeing her trainer take a Safari Ball in hand, the lizard-Pokemon stepped forward. Unlike she would have, once upon a time, she didn't attack without an order. The trainer nodded, and called out ”Honou, use Ember!” she ordered.
The fire-type nodded, and launched a blast of burning Embers at the bug-type Pokemon.

Honou let rip a powerful Ember attack, the bright flames lighting up the National Park quite beautifully. A few screeches could be heard around the park as various Bug types scarpered away from the Fire-typed attack. Illumise wasn't one of these lucky escapees, however, her skin quickly singed by the move and leaving a noticeable burn on her shoulder! D: The firefly was less than pleased, but her response was rather strange. She let loose a Sweet Scent... perhaps she was trying to cover up the distinct smell of burning? Either way, the aroma wafted through to Honou, leaving the Charmeleon in a temporary state of bliss. Awww. :D

Haley smirked as Honou, as the Charmeleon launched a blast of burning Embers at the bug Pokemon, startling many Pokemon through out the park. However, she frowned in confusion as the bug-type made a sweet scent. What was the point of that? Honou chuffed a laugh, but couldn't help but to enjoy the perfume-like scent. Her trainer, not wanting to risk Honou knocking out the Illumise, called the Charmeleon back. "Honou, stand out of the way!" The lizard-Pokemon quickly ducked out of the way, as Haley launched a Sport Ball at the Illumise.

Haley smirked, watching as the Sport Ball shook thrice, before dinging. An Illumise. She wondered how many points that one was worth. Honou retrieved the Poke Ball for her, and Haley pocketed it, before giving the Charmeleon a jerky strip. The lizard happily ate on it as they began to wander the park again, looking for another bug Pokemon.

Both Haley and Honou stared, deadpan, at the Wurmple that wriggled it's way out of the foliage towards them. Haley groaned and sighed, looking upwards. 'What did I do to you? I may have stolen some, okay a lot of, stuff, but I'm not a bad person.' Honou shared similar thoughts, and stepped forward, smoke emitting from her maw. Haley nodded, exasperated, and Honou shot Embers at the Wurmple.

Honou spent little time at all in loosing her Ember attack toward a rather scared-looking Wurmple. The Bug was soon engulfed in fire on all sides, unable to escape as it found itself almost literally burned to a crisp. Fortunately, from the sounds around the park, it seemed as though Haley wasn't the only one mercilessly cooking some of these Bugs. Her conscience, if she had one, could rest easy. Also the Wurmple is KOd and stuff. Yay.
Honou gained a level, reaching Level 21, and a Happiness point (up to +7)! She can learn Scary Face! Should she? |

Haley grinned as Honou launched Embers at the Wurmple, although it fell when the bug seemed to be set alight. She cringed as the flames went out, revealing a cooked-looking Wurmple. The trainer picked up a stick, poking the Wurmple, before walking away, whistling nonchalantly. Haley and Honou walked away, looking for another Bug-Pokemon.

Sport Balls Left: 14 3/5 Encounters While trudging through the exceptionally tall grass of the park Honou would take note of a pile of white just ahead. Giving a snort the white jumped suddenly with a snort of its own; as if it had just awoken from a sleep. A wild Nincada was found!

Both trainer and Pokemon startled as a patch of watch something came to life, revealing a Nincada. Haley looked it over - surely her Illumise was worth more points? Honou looked at her, cocking her head, before stomping forward. Her trainer nodded, jerking her head towards the bug-Pokemon. The fire-type huffed, spitting embers on the ground, before launching a mouthful of Embers at the Nincada.
