The remaining aggressive spearow did not look happy, it had fluffed out all its feathers but it didn't intimidate Talia one bit. It felt awfully alone but it knew it wouldn't be able to back down and give up, there was too much on the line for that, although it felt it had been a mistake to try teach the rebellious spearow manners in front of the human. It leaped into the air and circled around its two opponents in an attempt to get past the squritle, but she was good to turn around and stay in between, and the defending spearow croauched behind her and followed her every move. In the end the spearow got frustrated and with a screech it dived straight at Talia and gave her a big peck on the forehead. It looked like it was about to continue over her and attack the spearow that hid behind her, but she was fast thrust her head into the spearow and sent it sprawling to the ground once more. It slowly got to its feet and glared at the squirtle, it could just make out its kin that was hiding behind her. The spearow lifted its head and called out to the flock on the roof, time to gang up for real and teach them not to interfere with their affairs. None of the spearows on the rooftops moved. It took a few moments and another call from the aggressive spearow to realize what was going on. It's flock didn't listen to it any longer, it was no longer in charge and they would not come to its aid and gang up on their enemy. It was on its own. It fluffed out its feathers again, this time from fear, and then it spun around and fly away, not daring to stay one moment at this area, alone against the trainer and his pokemon, and not knowing what its former flock might do to it. The bullied spearow breathed a sigh of relief and thanked both Talia and Aislyn for their help, it certainly was in debt to them! It eyed the flock of spearows that was still sitting on the rooftops, a few up there fidgeted nervously and looked at the others. Their attention was still on the spearow Finnian had helped but it clearly didn't like it. It turned to the human and hoped hesitantly closer, it looked at him hopefully. It liked this flock, and Finnian clearly was the leader so it was his acceptance it needed to be allowed to join, would he agree to it? Talia was on the winning team and grows to lvl 10! Talia backed off of the bird as it seemed to run out of steam. She had no desire to run it into the ground or literally run it off, but she'd continue to attack if it did. Luckily, it seemed that the Spearow knew better than to keep going. Finnian tried hard not to look fearful when the Spearow called for help, knowing that any sense of fear or hesitation the birds got would likely make him a target. It was, though, a relief when none of the birds on the roof reacted, and he realized what was going on. While he did feel bad about the attacker losing its flock, he hoped it would drive the bird to be nicer in the future.
Talia and Aislyn nodded in acceptance of the bird's thanks, pleased that they could help. It was nice to be able to do something good, honestly. At least they didn't have any shortage of that with Finnian around.
Noticing the hopeful look the bird was giving him, Finnian grinned and crouched down to be more on his level. "Hey little guy, why don't you come with us?" he suggested, pleased when the Spearow gave a delighted peep and hopped up onto his shoulder. Yeah, this would work out great! "Maybe we should head out of here though," he concluded as he straightened up. He wanted to keep exploring the town a little bit more, but not under the watchful eye of these birds. That seemed like asking for some kind of trouble. Maybe they could find a little pond or something for the new baby to play in.

As Finnian tried to find a pond for his newly hatched Goldeen to play in the humid weather had other ideas as off in the distance he was being watched by a rather nosy trainer. The crimson haired boy was not in the best of moods to being with but seeing a trainer with a Drowzee and a newly hatched Pokemon only made him angrier. As he approached Finnian his rude nature was quite apparent as he spoke. " How such a weak trainer can have an egg hatch already and a Drowzee is beyond me but I am not about to let a wimp like you keep them. After I defeat your weakling Pokemon I shall be taking them from you so that I can train them properly."Without another word he tossed a Pokeball in front of him containing a Zubat and looked over at Finnian. After a brief moment of silence he returned to his usual rude ways. " So are you just going to stand there all day or are you going to send out one of your weak Pokemon so I can crush it?" As he waited his Zubat started to act erratically as it was inpatient to start the battle and get things over with. If it could win a battle maybe it might just earn some respect from it's master that currently viewed it as being less valuable than dirt. The crimson haired boy challenges you to a battle. He sends out Zubat (Level 8) Please select a Pokemon.

Finnian looked up eagerly as he heard someone approaching him, always ready to make new friends. Within seconds though, he was frowning slightly. Dang, what was it with people around here? First, there had been that Team Rocket guy who had been such a jerk to his Pokemon, and now there was this guy! Finnian didn't get it, though he was beginning to understand why his parents had been so hesitant to allow him to leave. They probably hadn't wanted him to have to deal with people like this, especially when he felt so bad about what the people back home had always said. This guy's words were the same, and Finnian shrank in on himself slightly as he was berated. What was he supposed to say? He didn't know how to defend himself. "I think I'm doing all right," he said softly. The last thing he wanted was to have his Pokemon taken from him, though. This guy didn't seem very nice, and while he knew he might not be able to make them as tough and strong as others, he thought he could at least give them a good, supportive home.
So, much as he didn't want to be around this guy, he couldn't afford to let any of his Pokemon into the stranger's hands. "Fine," he replied softly, reaching for a Pokeball. The smartest choice would have been to let Florus out, but he still wanted some of his other Pokemon to get a chance. Time for Aislyn to get another turn, he decided. The baby Goldeen was obviously out of the question, so instead it was going to be the Drowzee. It only seemed fitting, considering the stranger had mentioned her.
The Drowzee reappeared in a flash of light, and didn't take long to comprehend the situation given the attitude the stranger was exuding. All right, she thought. Let's see what this guy and his Pokemon's dreams are made of. She lunged for the bat, though it was difficult to get her bulk into the air, one fist held out in front of her. Too bad she couldn't really attack from the ground yet. If she missed, she'd have to try bringing it down to her level next.
Aislyn was sent out and used Pound!

The red haired boy huffed when Finnian quietly said that he thought he wasn't so bad at training. "You might be able to beat the weak rattatas that are running all over the place, or even some of the kids who are pretending to be trainers, but you got no chance now you have met the real deal!" The red haired boy boasted and smirked when Finnian agreed to battle. "Good choice, I want to see what that drowzee can do and what I need to do to correct the errors your surely have taught it," the redhead said and watched Finnian closely to see his reaction to the accusations. He wanted to get under the other ones skin and piss him off. "Zubat, show me that you are not a complete waste of my time and use Astonish!" The redhead snapped and the zubat flapped surprisingly fast straight into the face of Aislyn who staggered back warily and felt a chill run down her spine. She leaped forward and manage to score a hit on the bat before it got out of reach, it flapped a bit to regain its balance but otherwise acted like the retaliation had been nothing. "Good, just as I expected," the boy said maliciously. Finnian remained silent as the boy taunted him, having learned in the past couple of days that nothing would change the mind of someone like this. They were jerks, plain and simple. He wondered if this guy and that Rocket grunt he'd run into were friends somehow, but decided it didn't matter. He'd just prove him wrong and the guy would storm off just like that guy had. It seemed to work best that way. So, while the comments hurt, Finnian tried not to let it show and instead focused on the battle in front of him.
"Hang in there Aislyn," he said, knowing that attack had to hurt. Of course the bat had known something like that. He'd have to keep an eye on the Drowzee and make sure she didn't get too hurt from that.
She made a noise of acknowledgement, already thinking of how she could keep from getting hit by something like that again. It would be simplest to attempt to put the bat to sleep, but she had another idea first. She waved her hands in a cryptic gesture, hoping to be able to lock away that particular power for a time.
Meanwhile, Finnian reached for a Pokeball and gently tapped the Spearow on his shoulder with it. Might as well let the newest addition to the team relax for a bit, until they could get past this guy and find a pond.

The redhead waited impatiently as Finnian took his time to answer and he tapped his foot with his arms crossed. "Too scared to talk?" He asked sarcastically when he found he had waited more than enough, it was clear he hadn't succeeded in pissing the other trainer off. He huffed when Finnian told Aislyn to endure. "You are way too soft but that is at least an easy thing to fix with those pokemon when I take over," the boy commented disdainfully. "What are you waiting for Zubat? Take it down, same move as last," the boy snapped and the bat zoomed down and managed to give Aislyn yet another shock although she was quick to shook it off and wave her hands in a mesmerizing way. While zubat certainly couldn't see the waving it clearly affected it and it stared without eyes at the psychic type. The boy narrowed his eyes. "What did it do?" He demanded to know, "if you got a clue that is," he added tauntingly. Finnian made himself continue to resolutely ignore the trainer's words, instead choosing to focus on the battle. He would need to, he supposed, because this guy was obviously experienced (or was putting on a good show of it) and he needed to do something or else he would have his Pokemon stolen. Man, was this a thing that just happened all the time? His parents had never mentioned thieves in all the warnings they'd given him about the outside world, so he hoped that he was just incredibly unlucky.
The Zubat was faster than Aislyn, unfortunately, and got off another Astonish before she could seal it away. It hurt greatly, and she knew she wouldn't be able to take another attack like that. Hopefully, she had blocked off the worst of the Zubat's attacks. No doubt they would find out in a moment.
The next best thing that she could do was attempt to damage the Zubat, since she hadn't really been doing that. She charged for the bat hovering above, attempting to punch it.
For his part, Finnian supposed he ought to answer the man, not because he thought answering correctly would earn him any respect but because he knew remaining silent would only net him more taunting. "Um..." he started, not sure which Pokemon the stranger was talking about. He knew what Aislyn had done, but he wasn't entirely sure what the Zubat had. He'd never spent a whole lot of time studying Pokemon moves, if he was being honest. "Well, Aislyn used Disable," he said, giving himself a few more precious seconds to think. "And I guess yours used... Astonish." They'd had bats around the farm back home, and he remembered his parents complaining about them making so much noise with their attacks while they hunted. They could keep you up at night sometimes, it was true.

"Disable..." the redhead repeated and grimaced. "I know what Zubat used! I ordered it you dimwit!" He snapped at Finnian and went quiet leaving both pokemon and Finnian to wait. Zubat was clever enough to stay out of reach of Aislyn until it got its orders and the drowzee had no way of reaching it from the ground, she would have to wait until it moved in to attack or made a mistake. "Disable," The red haired brat said again, "what a waste of time, you know you are only stalling the result right? It's a desperate move and if that is what you rely on, Drowzee really needs a better trainer who knows what moves will fit it best," he said braggingly. "It will change nothing, only lengthening the battle and the time your pokemon are going to suffer," he continued to taunt, he knew all the soft trainers often didn't like the thought of their pokemon being hurt, perhaps he could use that to his advantage. "Zubat, Supersonic!" The redhead ordered and smirked, if Finnian was going to drag this out, it was a game they both could play. Zubat opened its mouth and the air vibrated although no sound was heard, Aislyn waved her hands and the vibrating air stopped in front of them without reaching her. The zubat moved closer to put more force behind its move, it was too scary to think of what its trainer might do if it failed! It was a mistake as Aislyn jumped forward and slapped it when it got too close. Zubat withdrew shaking its head and re-orientating itself while Aislyn looked to have been unaffected by the move. The boy scowled and was clearly not pleased with the outcome. It occurred to Finnian belatedly that the man may have been asking him because he honestly didn't know what Aislyn had done, and he'd just told him. Well, that was dumb. He should have known better than to interact with the man at all, honestly, but he'd opened his mouth and look where that had gotten him. At best, it had just gotten him snarked at even further, and at worst he'd told the man exactly what had happened and thereby given him information he might otherwise not have known.
Evidently, the Zubat wasn't having much luck with confusing Aislyn, for which Finnian was grateful. That would have been frustrating to deal with. He wondered if the bat knew any other damaging moves. They'd find out shortly, he knew. For now, the best thing to do was press their advantage before the Zubat could use that ghostly damage against Aislyn and actually hurt her.
"She's fine," Finnian said. "She's pretty tough!" He smiled, knowing just how strong she was. She'd been a pain to catch, actually, so she was capable of a lot. She was smart too, not needing his guidance to know what to do. That was a relief to him, because he knew they'd do terribly if she had to rely upon him in order to fight. He had very little experience with battling still, and suspected he'd never be very good at it himself. Fortunately, all his Pokemon thus far had a handle on it.
Aislyn continued to flail at the Zubat, trying to take advantage of the fact that it was so close to her before it wised up and moved away, which meant she'd have to chase it.

The redhead huffed when his attempts to shake Finnian didn't work and the soft trainer instead proudly declared his pokemon was doing fine. "It better be tough or else it will be a waste of time for me," the boy declared dismissively. "If you don't think your pokemon suffer under your terrible training you are more blind than I thought," He then stated disdainfully. "The astonish will finish it off sooner or later, the disabling wont last forever and apparently everybody besides you know that. If you think that prolonging the battle wont just make your precious pokemon feel more pain and therefore suffer, then be my guest. It is a waste of time but if you like it that way so be it," the brat said mockingly with a shrug. He knew that if he could irk his opponent they might lose their concentration which again could give him the win a bit easier. All's fair in war. Zubat might have been shaken from Aislyn's last attack but it had managed to get out of reach of the flailing Aislyn. Its trainers next order brought it close and well within range again, but it would have to obey. Absorb Zubat! It is a horrible move but you clearly can't figure anything else out, the red haired boy ordered with a huff and Zubat dived to take a good bite out of Aislyn. It didn't hurt much and it was easy for the drowzee to swap the zubat away with her fists. Finnian simply shrugged as the man continued to taunt him, no longer caring. It was obvious to him that he was just trying to shake him and cause him to make mistakes. Considering he was terrible at battling anyway, he didn't need any help with that. Might as well quit answering questions and responding to taunts and focus on what was going on. Especially since it seemed as though the Zubat could continue to do things that would hurt Aislyn, despite it not being as bad as the Astonish had been.
"You gotta do something more about it," Finnian said, not wanting Aislyn to have to be called back. She'd been doing so well thus far, and this would be her first battle that she had completed all on her own. He wanted her to have that sense of pride, since he presumed it was a goal of hers and that it would feel good to do something all by herself.
She nodded, making another intricate gesture with her hands towards the Zubat attempting to lull it to sleep. That would allow her to handle it without any risk of repercussion, which they both hoped would be enough to allow her to win. It would be tight, though, and Finnian hoped he wouldn't have to swap her out, because he suspected he'd have to if the Zubat didn't fall asleep or woke up before Aislyn could get some good hits in.

"What? Have you lost your ability to speak again?" The red haired boy mocked annoyed, it was getting hard to find new ways to prik this boy when he got little to no reaction. He frowned as he tried to come up with something else to say or do, but with zubat there was little he could do to shake up this battle. He was certain his other pokemon could finish this pitiful drowzee quickly and even though it wasn't what he had wished for he felt certain it could beat the rest of Finnian's pokemon, now Finnian clearly was too soft and the redhead himself had actually trained his pokemon well. He smirked when Finnian asked Aislyn to "do something", it looked like the other trainer had finally realized where this was heading. "Getting nervous?" He asked maliciously and gestured to Zubat. "Try that Supersonic again, and make sure it doesn't miss!" He ordered coldly and his bat flapped forward. It began to send sound waves down over Aislyn who answered with hand weaving, and for a short time nothing else happened than the two facing off. Then, without warning the zubat plopped down to the ground while Aislyn looked like her old self. The red haired's face darkened and he muttered something inaudibly. This poor Zubat, Finnian thought. It was just like the Rattata that he'd seen the weirdly dressed man have. Why did so many Pokemon follow people who treated them so horribly? Did they not have any other choice? He thought it was sad if that was the case, that anyone should be forced to be around someone so negative towards them. It didn't seem fair to him.
There was nothing he could do about it though, because he didn't know how to forceably take another person's Pokemon from them, and he wasn't sure he would even if he did. Wouldn't that make him no better than them?
Now wasn't the time to be contemplating such thoughts, while Aislyn needed him to pay attention and try to help her. Fortunately, she had taken his advice and put the Zubat to sleep, thankfully before it could confuse her. Okay, now they stood a much better chance. If she could make the Zubat faint before it woke up, then she would be good. Otherwise, he was going to have to recall her, he thought. There had to be a better way to train his Pokemon than this, because it seemed to be a train of thought he had quite often. "Okay Aislyn, good job," he said, continuing to ignore the other man's taunts. It seemed to be serving him well thus far, and had the bonus effect of allowing him to focus entirely on the battle instead of trying to come up with a response.
The Drowzee nodded and rushed forward, a little fist raised as she attempted to smack the fallen Zubat. Pound was about the only offensive move she knew, and she was milking it for all it was worth. Finnian hoped she'd figure something else out soon, because he didn't like her having to get so close to her opponent even if she was clearly able to withstand attacks.

The battlefield was surprisingly quiet for a place with an active battle going on, but with Zubat snorring and Finnian thinking there was little to disturb the sense of peace. The feeling did not reach the bat's trainer, he tapped his foot impatiently but refused to be as unprofessional as some trainers and shout at his pokemon in an attempt to wake it up. It rarely worked and he didn't want to look that ridiculous and desperate. Zubat was a weakling anyway and this was the only way it could toughed up, by learning to fight back to avoid getting beaten up. The boy sneered silently and glared at Finnian when he praised the drowzee, he did not agree with his words. Drowzee had only wasted time and Finnian was encouraging it! Unlike Finnian the red haired boy had no qualms taking another trainer's pokemon, what could they do when he had beaten their team first? It was for the best, he himself got some useful pokemon while the pokemon got a proper trainer. The redhead watched silently as Aislyn ran forward and slapped the sleeping bat, making it murmur in discomfort at stir a bit. the redhead narrowed his eyes calculating at Finnian. "How impressive, you are so good at kicking someone who is already laying down," he said sarcastically and smirked maliciously. "How does it feel to attack someone defenseless?"
