The Prof makes an already interesting journey thread even more compelling by giving us an engrossing narrative involving Rival Silver’s first theft. I’m looking forward to seeing how the ensuing battle turns out!

Nominating them together because they’re a team 😎 I’ve enjoyed reading this thread for the novelty of seeing two trainers work together in a journey thread, and each writer adds to the excitement of the “first battle” scene. I like how buffbaby describes the battle as a contrast to its environment, using imagery of embers in the snow that really sizzles and crackles to life, and I like how c1sc0 builds on that “fire and ice” energy and also describes Kaius in relation to it, giving us a look at how his brightly burning personality matches his Charmander’s.

5 . Tarlar - “Wishes On The Riverbank” (mod post) Link

Tarlar always has so much fun with the NPCs, and this is no exception! I love how she characterizes and contrasts Kyoko, the bubbly Tourist, with the cranky homeowner. (Poor Adrian has his hands full!) It’s a fun read.

Reason: Steph's pre-teenage character acting out as an army commander in chief holding down a snow fortress is highly entertaining. Wrigley is trying to help the wild Rattata with the berry problem, only for it to be revealed that Daisy had helped herself to some of the berry stash, that surely isn't going to have the purple rodent pokemon in a good mood!

Reason: Caitlin' plays Zeus' ability of 'Rivalry' well and also to the fact that Litleo is the lion cub pokemon, with Lion's commonly referred to as the king of the jungle. What has started out as Caitlin simply trying to aid Camper Roland in clearing a path home will naturally devolve into a full fledged battle between Caitlin's Litleo and Roland's Nidoran!

Reason: I really admire Tiki's courage for taking on what is quite a challenging mod assignment since no one's attempted the mission before and it's really unique given it requires more investigative work rather than traditional Pokemon battles. The characterisation is very rich and intricate and a real tall order given there are so many suspects involved. The dialogue is very compelling and humorous and the atmosphere really feels like it's a bunch of workers in a cave with all sorts of weird and fancy machines! Excited to see what happens!

Reason: The whole backstory of James the hacker was really well thought out and Hunter capped it off nicely in this post. I like the realisation behind why Team Rocket went after James rather than him being just a random target and it gave an edgy feel to the narrative - suggesting James was messing with some things he shouldn't have on the dark web and stumbled upon some Rocket secrets!

Woah, I genuinely wasn't expecting that one bit! I've come and gone from ZZ quite a number of times over the years and have this has been my longest stint so far I believe, from memory I've never won this award so a massive honor to have been firstly nominated and then voted for it. Naturally I'm thrilled about the award but just want to say a massive thanks to everyone for being so damn awesome, I feel like my writing has been improving and its purely a result of the support I get and the outstanding mod replies I receive that provide such vast stimulus' to work with. There were so many nominations that deserved this award and I'm looking forward to an amazing 2024 on ZZ! As for the prizes I'd love to select the 'Item Bundle' and have TM Drain Punch, Rare Candy and the item Punching Glove if possible please (Would it be at all possible to redeem these once Tai is an active character [ITS HAPPENING SOON! ] rather than have them held with Max and Tristan?)

Reason: I love this moment of a wild Pokémon and captured Pokémon interacting. The justifiable anger from Sableye and sweet kindness of Surskit just, ugh my heart! And how Sableye keeps twisting everything that Surskit is saying back is just so harsh and yet makes sense from a wild Pokémon's perspective. And it isn't a happy ending, per say, given Sableye still clings to its beliefs. So tragic but so good.

Its a delightful read. Also Flittle is adorable and adds a layer of comic relief to the post as well.

Reason: I love that Clem is literally a disney princess. A zombie princess, but still! The wild Pokemon parading along after her and even when one of them steals her phone she still acts so kind. Too adorable! But then there's the sudden juxtaposition of personalities when we have Riolu join the scene. Not only is the relationship between Riolu and Clem hilarious, you get a clearly defined and narrated picture about what kind of team Clem has and how her team has been run. A great testament to both Venominon's crafting of this post and the deep understanding of who his character and her Pokemon is.

The adorableness of the Dratini curling up on the Vibrava and that whole scene... the image is so nice! I also enjoy the realism of having left to the Move Tutor and then back with the time change that is written.
