This story has already been an interesting deviation with a self-defined NPC companion as a way to introduce a future pokemon for the player character and it hit a climax. I've always found the implications of evolution from the anime (Ash's charmander shift & pikachu's refusal) rather interesting so seeing another tale of evolution gone wrong is delightful ^^

Thank you for all your votes, I really enjoyed writing that post so I'm glad others enjoyed reading it as well ^^ It has been a really, really hard choice, since I love getting eggs but some of the event pokemon are still really tempting. So, I have decided to go with the Polar Teddiursa. That, along with the rare candy and the Heart Scale will go to Lei.
