i could never let you go Town was quiet when Molly left. Everyone seemed to be just waking up or just going to bed. It was dawn, right as the sun rose above the horizon, and Molly was ready to see what sort of challenge lay ahead of her in Route 29. Training, probably, or maybe she'd get some sketching practice in before she had to go into battle. She yawned, not quite accustomed to waking up so early. It seemed her starter had a different attitude, though - she was raring to go, it seemed, as she walked a foot or so ahead of the droopy, drowsy, red-haired trainer. Unlike Molly, Harvey was on the alert, red eyes peering about at the thick brush, looking for anything interesting. Molly, however, was hunched over, hands stuck in the pockets of the coat she wore; it was still relatively chilly for Spring, and she was more susceptible to the cold than other trainers. She yawned again, eyes watering as she wondered whether or not to stop for a break sometime soon.

The spring weather had started settling in, there were practically no traces of the cold and harsh winter around. Even the flowers started blooming as the tiny little buds were still visible on the ground. It was a perfect and warm day outside, nothing could top how peaceful the entire route seemed to be. However, Harvey herself wasn't aware that she was being watched. While Molly and her Squirtle were on the lookout, there was something watching them. Its eyes looked over at the Squirtle through its perch on a tree near the thick bush. The feathery observer, like a silent and deadly predator, located its next target who was on its turf. As it was not as docile and gentle as Pidgey, it was determined to fight off the intruder. It prepared to take flight and with its own talons out, charged straight for Harvey in a flash! A wild Spearow (level 5) has appeared! Shiny check: URYfdiDA1-42((OOC: For new members, we have the Bicycle mode! You may turn this off anytime. i could never let you go Harvey was taken by surprise, crying out as she stepped back to try and avoid the attack. Her momentary fear was replaced quickly with excitement; her first battle! She had to make sure Molly knew. And with that cry, Molly was well aware of the strange Pokemon's appearance, her eyes wide and legs in an awkward stance. "Oh! A bird Pokemon!" she said aloud to nobody in particular, eager to get close but not so eager as to get too close, especially since it seemed to be ready to attack. Really, she almost forgot that this meant she'd be able to initiate battle. Before she could forget, her turtle Pokemon stepped in front of her, on the defensive. "Squirtle squirt!" it said, turning slightly to make eye contact with her trainer. "Um," Molly stumbled, "Tackle it!" She was lucky she had enough wits about her to remember the Pokemon's moveset.

The blue turtle Pokemon obliged as she withdrew into her shell and propelled herself onto the avian intruder, successfully making a hit on the aggressive wild Pokemon. "Spearooooow!" The Spearow was thrown back into a tree as a little comedic bump sprouted on its head, but its determination to fight did not simply stop there. As it flew into the air, it was clear that it was quite angered by this course of action. The wild Spearow dive-bombed forward towards Harvey, its own movements were more faster as it then pecked the tiny turtle Pokemon for a moment before stopping. There was no stopping for the angered wild Spearow now that its own pride was challenged. It was definitely quite jealous of human-trained Pokemon, and it would not take it lightly. i could never let you go Though the situation was comical, Molly couldn't really muster up a laugh at the Spearow's bump against the tree. She was far too focused on making sure her Pokemon wasn't hurt too direly. If it got down to it, she'd withdraw and return to the lab for some healing. She couldn't help but flinch as Harvey was assaulted with a Peck attack; if the peck had landed on her shell, she'd be less worried, but instead the bird Pokemon had gotten a hit in on Harvey's head. Ouch! "Tackle it again!" Molly called out, hoping her Pokemon wasn't too rattled by the attack. The battle, although fairly straightforward, made her nervous; she didn't want to lose her first battle.

Harvey began to go for another Tackle attack with her shell, leaping into the air as she charged shell-first at the airborne Spearow. The wild tiny bird Pokemon was knocked out of the air as it landed ungracefully on the ground with a plop. As the battle between the wild Spearow amd Harvey waged on, it was clear thay neither of them would back down willingly. "Spearow..." It groaned in pain as little dream-like farfetch'ds began to dance around its head. Once it got its act together, the fierce bird Pokemon slowly got up. The avian fighter narrowed its eyes at its opponent in a intimidating stare-down. "Spearow!" It squawked in an angry fashion, obviously it was trying to scare the blue tiny turtle Pokemon into lowering her guard. It was smart enough to think of this wonderful strategy during a battle, never mind that it was still a bit hurt from the way Harvey attacked it. i could never let you go Molly could see she was doing fairly well, despite this being her first real battle. She'd seen lower-key and less official fights before, mostly out in her old hometown from her window, or between bird Pokemon at the docks, but never something like this. It was a little exhilarating, really. Harvey seemed to be doing decently in her fight against the Spearow. Maybe there was a scratch on her forehead, sure, but she was fine! And not fainted. And that was what mattered most to Molly right now. "Okay, um," she stumbled, wondering if she should try something different. After a moment, she decided, sticking to her guns. "Tackle again! Aim for the torso!" ...if birds even had torsos. Did they? She supposed they probably should.

And again, Harvey leaped into the air as she then aimed for the torso of the angered tiny bird Pokemon, striking it down as it descended from the sky. Moreso than ever, Harvey was at least fired up, and ready to go another round. The Spearow flipped on its back as it groaned in pain, it was probably thinking that the blue turtle was not an easy prey to go after, but it got up quickly. It still winced, and coughed from the injury as it opted to charge towards Harvey. It would then give the turtle Pokemon a peck on the head again as payback for its injury to the torso. "Spearow!" It squawked back in utter annoyance, but all it came out was a mixture of coughs and wheezy squawks out of the tiny bird Pokemon. As it stood, the Spearow did not like the direction this battle was taking at all. i could never let you go The flying leap that Harvey made seemed to have made a metaphorical dent in Spearow's defenses; it gave a wheeze and a cough, and continued its pecking assault on the blue turtle Pokemon. Molly wasn't quite as foolish as she might seem... well, maybe she was, but even she could realize when her Pokemon was worn out. "Alright! Good work, Harvey!" she called out. "Move a sec!"As the Squirtle obliged, curious to see what she was about to do, Molly reached into her bag and pulled out a red and white object: the classic Pokeball. She looked down at her reflection in the shiny orb, smiled, looked up, and threw it. "Pokeball go!" she yelled. Maybe the yelling was a little over-the-top or noobish of her, but she thought it felt cool in the moment.

The Pokeball sailed through the air before it connected with the Spearow, the button pressed on its head as it was sucked inside the confined space. There was never a moment where it even looked suspenseful as the Pokeball dropped down and wiggled, the wild Spearow seemingly attempting to get out of being captured by this human. Like all wild Pokemon, the tiny bird Pokemon was fighting back for its freedom, and mainly because it would never back down from a challenge issued by the blue turtle Pokemon. One... Two... Three... The Pokeball's red light on the button stopped lighting up. Perhaps the Spearow wasn't going to win against the confines of its space, and therefore, it decided it should travel along with this human...for now at least. *CLICK*Congratulations! You caught the wild Spearow! Harvey gained 3 levels and learned Water Gun! Please copy and paste the code in your post, so I can have a higher up update your party. i could never let you go Molly watched with intensity as the Pokeball wiggled, eyes locked onto it. Would it break out? Maybe she'd need to use another Pokeball. She had one ready, just in case, but it seemed that the Spearow was ready to accept its fate as a trainer's Pokemon. "Alright! Way to go, Harvey!" she whooped, picking her little turtle up and spinning around. "You were amazing!"Harvey seemed dizzy, appreciative, but also a little embarrassed. She kicked her way out of Molly's grasp and crossed her arms, nodding her head. "Squir squir," she affirmed, as if her trainer could understand her. Molly walked over to pick up the Pokeball, and as she peered down at her reflection on the ball, she realized she should probably give the Spearow a name. "Hmm..." She looked up at the sky for a moment in thought before returning her gaze to the orb in her hand. "How about Neo? I think that'd be a good name for you." The Spearow, being confined within the Pokeball, could say nothing, of course, but Molly took the silence to mean he agreed with her. Harvey tugged a little on Molly's pant-leg to get her attention and pointed outwards towards the middle section of the route, which zig-zagged through some shallow ledges that could probably be easily jumped over. "Oh, think we should move on?" She said, smiling down at her Pokemon. She appreciated her eagerness, though she wondered if she might get carried away later... Of course, being a trainer meant she'd have a chance of having a handful of energy to look after, not unlike a child. Though she'd never really thought about having kids, she decided she much preferred owning Pokemon; they can respond readily, even if it wasn't in English, and are more cognizant than a younger child. And, like, the whole "animal with super powers" thing was pretty awesome too, if you thought about it. Molly decided she'd follow her Squirtle deeper into the route. Harvey's energy seemed barely squashed by the battle she'd just had. SpearowName: Neo Gender: Male Level: 5 Moves: Peck, Growl, Leer Ability: Keen Eye Nature/Personality: Rash

The sun continued its climb up into the sky. Its rays were beginning to shine through the treetops, casting mingling shadows on the grass. The air was still chill but beginning to warm with the sunshine. The murmurs of early morning pokemon were now starting to fill the route with sounds of life--- mainly tiny yawns and chippers of pokemon searching for breakfast. As Molly followed Harvey further along route 29, they unknowingly began to alert the route's many residents of their presence. And the squirtle's eager scurrying up and down the path and occasional shouts back for Molly to keep up with him were beginning to disturb many of the late morning sleepers. One of those such sleepers was a small little rattata who was sleeping in its burrow when it was suddenly woken up by the sound of movement right outside its home. The rattata stretched and let out a big yawn "Raaaahhhhtahhh" before launching itself out of its home, through the bush that covered the burrow's entrance and onto the path in front of Harvey and Molly. The rattata struck an aggressive stance, fangs out and tail wagging high in the air. It let out a sharp shout. "RAAATAATA TATA TAH!" The purple rat pokemon was not pleased about being woken up from its slumber and wanted them to know it. The rattara let out another yawn, hopefully this wouldn't take long and it would be back to sleep soon! A wild Rattata (lvl 6) has pounced out from the bushes! Shiny check (1-42): 26

i could never let you go Molly and Harvey had wandered a good ways into the route. The breeze, now warmed from the sunlight, made Molly feel a bit warm, so she removed her coat, opting to tie it around her waist. Harvey seemed to find it a bit tacky, giving Molly a side-glance as she ran ahead. Pff. What did a Pokemon know about fashion? "Raaaahhhhtahhh!" "Ahh!" Molly jumped at the sudden cry, stepping back in alarm. She raised her arms in a defensive stance, and Harvey moved to stand in front of her, making a 'fight me' pose with her forearms. "Squiiiiiirtle...." Harvey growled warningly, tail wagging. Molly worked quickly to bring her wits about her. It seemed to just be a Rattata, startled from slumber by their footsteps (and Harvey's scrabbling through the grass). "Tackle it, Harvey!" she commanded, pointing at the Rattata. "Watch out for its teeth!"(no worries, welcome to the thread!)

The wild rattata responded to Harvey's fighting stance and warning growl by flashing its sharp teeth. It then resisted yawning a third time and opted for making the first move. This rattata, while still quite sleepy, was not as brash or inexperienced as other rattatas on the route. It had seen many of its peers rush head first into battle with the strange pokemon that accompanied travelling trainers only to be swiftly defeated. Instead of leaping right away at the squirtle, the rattata decided it would be best to lower its opponent's defense first. To do so, the purple rat pokemon began to prance and whip its tail high in the air in a rhythmic motion. The dance was both cute and extremely distracting for Harvey. The rattata's tail swayed and swayed, and while the squirtle watched the rattata eyed the turtle pokemon carefully for a weak spot. It quickly determined that the squirtle's shell seemed hard and likely a bad spot to bite, when it came time to attack it would not aim there... perhaps, the tail? The rattata moved in to try and get a look behind Harvey, and that is when the squirtle took the opportunity to attack. As the wild rattata skirted around him, Harvey lowered his head and charged into the rattata's side. The rattata took the hit and screeched as it landed on its side. It quickly scrambled to its feet and distanced itself from the squirtle, thinking carefully about its next move.
