With how well Wiggles had managed to cover the area with several of her moves, it was impressive that Spinda kept avoiding stepping on any of more of the buried poisonous stingers but perhaps they had all been buried too deep or laid down so that they were mostly ineffective. The stringshot worked really well though as it kept sticking to the spinda's feet and making it stumble even more, which probably would be hard to see for an untrained eye. Spinda watched intently and tensed as Teddy whispered to Wiggles once again, it was ready for whatever they disked up. It waited, and wobbled, and waited, and nothing happened? It looked suspiciously between the two, did they want it to give up and leave or did they try to lure it in close? It spun around and took a decision and stumbled forward and sent Wiggles rolling backwards like tumbling weed. That had been easy, too easy.. Spinda stumbled over the sticky thread and turned its back to Wiggles, it noticed movement in the corner of its eye and its eye widened in surprise. That was their plan? It couldn't do much to avoid Wiggles slamming into it, Luckily for the spinda, or unfortunate for Wiggles, depending on which side you were on, it didn't do much. To wiggles it almost felt like she jumped into a tree. Spinda spun around and for a moment so brief you'd be uncertain if it had really been there, it stood still with its hands on its hips. Then it seemingly lost its balance and stumbled several steps to the right before it managed to regain control. "Is that all?" It called to Wiggles and actually sounded disappointed, then it stepped on one of the hidden needles and spent some time jumping on one leg while it tried to pull it out. It reminded it why it had came here and that a trainer only focusing on strength probably wouldn't be interested in helping it anyway, nor would be the best match. It eyed Teddy, the question was if he was even interested. Teddy winced as the Spinda spun into Wiggles, sending her tumbling. The little cocoon was tough, but he could see that she was getting tired. When her failed attack sent her rolling uncontrollably back to Teddy yet again, he began to consider his options. It was clear that Wiggles was trying her hardest. But it had been a long and eventful day, even he was exhausted and he hadn’t been the one doing all the physical work of battling. It was hard to believe that just this morning, he had gotten his first Pokemon. So much had happened just on the outskirts of New Bark Town – battling, making new friends, and fighting for the lives of his Pokemon (and potentially his own life too) against that thief. It was exciting, that’s for sure. But now was no time for weakness. “When the going gets tough, the tough get going.” It was a saying he had heard countless times from his father when he was growing up. Well, things are tough, and I have to keep going. Teddy thought to himself. He took a deep breath and returned his focus to the battle.
The Spinda was staring back, as always, clearly impatient with how scatterbrained the exhausted trainer was. “How are you doing, Wiggles?” Teddy called out. Despite the bruises and bumps, Wiggles responded with a determined, “Sil!” “Hang in there, you’re doing great!” Teddy replied. Teddy had no energy left from the day, his throat was sore from the gas he had inhaled earlier, and he wanted nothing more than to just sit down and rest. But he stood up straight, and yelled his commands as loudly and enthusiastically as he could, not wanting the Spinda to see the rough shape he and his Pokemon were in. At least we’re somewhere safe now, and we can rest after this, Teddy thought to himself. He looked back at Crissy and smiled, glad that he had made a friend today. Then he glanced up at her father, who just like the Spinda was waiting expectantly for the battle to continue. Right, I’m in a battle. Teddy once again thought to himself. Hopefully not every day is as long as this one, I can only handle so much. He convinced his tired brain to concentrate on the task at hand, analyzing the battlefield as quickly as he could.
Wiggles could probably only take one more hit from the Spinda. Teddy hoped she wouldn’t be knocked unconscious, of course he wanted her to get some rest but that seemed like a painful way to accomplish that goal. Still, she was so determined, it would be unfair to pull her out now. Wiggles looked back at Teddy, awaiting the next command. “Ok, just wait for another stumble, and then let’s go in with another tackle!” Teddy shouted, as he and Wiggles both began to analyze the Spinda’s twirling movement.
Wiggles uses Tackle.

Though the previous round could have gone a bit better Spinda had quite a large upper hand now as it started to plan out it's next course of action. The last thing it wanted to do was step on another needle while trying to maintain the advantage it had earned however being such a clumsy Pokemon there was no good ways to prevent the same outcome no matter what it tried. As much as the panda hated the though of getting stuck by another needle it had to take the risk again as it could not afford to let Wiggles find a way back into this battle. The Spinda quickly worked up speed taking advantage of the muddy ground as it ran towards Wiggles in an awkward manner. The zig zag pattern Spinda ran in made it nearly impossible to fully guard against and as Wiggles braced for impact the incoming Tackle caused significant damage. Despite the Spinda's best efforts however Wiggles was just able to hang on with a sliver of health left. As she recovered from the shock she managed to roll around on the muddy ground wprking up enough speed to unleash a weak Tackle of her own. Spinda was in no real danger from the attack however it still hurt as Wiggles had scored a pretty good hit on the panda. With another round over however there was no doubt Spinda had a massive advantage at this point. The panda could sense Wiggles poor shape and readied itself for the finishing blow. If it could score one more hit on her there was no way she would be able to endure the hit in her current condition. As the Spinda landed another heavy blow, it became apparent to everyone that Wiggles was on her last legs. The little Silcoon was battered and covered in mud. But Wiggles had not given up yet. She thought back on her days as a wild Pokémon, back when she was competing for that title of “Top Percentage.” She used to scoff at the idea of that boy’s Ratatta being “Top Percentage,” mostly because it wasn’t a wild Pokémon, it was just a pet. And yet here she was, no longer wild, instead battling for a trainer. Wiggles had always thought that being a trainer’s Pokémon would be a life in captivity, a restrictive life where she couldn’t do what she wanted. Looking back at Teddy, she found that having a trainer was nothing like captivity. Teddy always put his faith in her, and he pushed her to be her best. Maybe, being a trainer’s Pokémon was the only way to truly become “Top Percentage.”
As Wiggles came rolling back to Teddy after delivering her hit to the Spinda, she saw him begin to reach for her Poke ball. She let out a low grunt, almost a growl. The boy seemed to understand, as he took his hand off of the ball and nodded. She had seen other Pokémon faint before; she knew the risks. Of course, Teddy didn’t want to see her get hurt, but she had to give it her all. She was strong. Wiggles turned back to the Spinda. It still staggered about aimlessly, something that the little cocoon didn’t understand. Didn’t it get dizzy? How did it know where it was going? The motion seemed to be so random, but at the same time the panda seemed to be in control of it.
Wiggles awaited Teddy’s command while watching the Spinda’s motion. Teddy was doing the same, looking for an opportunity to make a move. Wiggles heard Teddy say something to the man that was standing by the house. Some sort of apology for his lawn? It didn’t quite make sense to her, this was a battlefield, not a patch of grass for leisure. So what if it was covered in string and needles? Teddy turned back around and watched the Spinda for a brief moment more. Then came his command. “Wiggles, keep up the good work, give it another sting!” The confidence in his voice was all Wiggles needed to go in 100%, as the cocoon Pokémon prepared her attack.
Wiggles uses Poison Sting!

Before the poison sting could launched, the spinda came in for another tackle in its strange dance walking motion. It is able to dodge any of the pointy parts of Wiggles. The tackle is enough to knock out Wiggles. Then the spinda looks up at the trainer wondering if there would be another fight or if it was free to go. While it waited, the spinda looks around to see where all of the possible buried needles are at so it could dodge them better. As it looks around, something off to the edge caught its eye and it starts to stumble in the general direction. (OOC: Who will be the next opponent or will this spinda get away?) Teddy scooped up Wiggles gently, whispering, “Thanks for giving it your best,” to his fainted Pokémon. He turned around and walked back towards the house, handing her gently to Crissy, pleading, “Please take care of her for me.” He felt almost sick to his stomach, what kind of awful trainer was he? Letting his own Pokémon be knocked unconscious, and why? Because he had too much pride to refuse a challenge? He was Wiggles’ trainer, it didn’t matter that she wanted to keep fighting, it was his job to keep her safe.
And yet, as disgusted as he was with himself, he was too far in now to give up. Maybe it was pride, maybe it was wanting to get revenge for Wiggles. Maybe the desire for revenge is just caused by pride, and they are one in the same. Regardless, he had to keep fighting. Charlie clearly felt the same, as the little salamander was waiting impatiently on the edge of the porch, just far enough back to keep himself out of the rain. Teddy turned back to the Spinda. “I bet you think you’re pretty tough, well we’ll see about that,” he said in a low voice, almost a growl, as he marched back out onto the grass. Charlie wasn’t far behind, eager to get in on the action.
Teddy kneeled down next to Charlie, and the two looked out over the lawn, observing the motion of the Spinda. Charlie hadn’t been the most obedient in the past, and Teddy did not want to make a fool out of himself in front of Crissy and her father. So, he would discuss strategy with Charlie first, because maybe if Charlie understood the reasons behind the commands, he might be more inclined to obey. “As you can see, it is raining,” Teddy began, stating the obvious to which Charlie just snorted. Teddy ignored the retort and continued, “That means that your fire moves will be weaker than normal.” Teddy motioned towards the flame on Charlie’s tail, which was still burning but the rain droplets had clearly reduced the intensity of the flame. Charlie stared expressionlessly at his Trainer, waiting for him to finish so the battle could begin. “As you’ve also seen, this Spinda is a hard hitter.” Once again, Charlie snorted. Spinda performed well because that cocoon is weak, and Teddy would see how much stronger Charlie is. “Understood?” Charlie rolled his eyes and then turned back to the Spinda, as his trainer stood back up. Well, that went great, Teddy thought sarcastically to himself, I guess we’ll see how this goes.
The Spinda was staring off to the side, stumbling slowly in that direction. Teddy cleared his throat loudly, trying to get its attention, but the sound of the rain muffled him and the Spinda was unaware. Charlie let out an impatient cry of “Charmander” and that seemed to do the trick, bringing the Spinda back to the battlefield. “Ok, Charlie, let’s start this off with a growl, and then follow it up with scratch,” Teddy commanded. But of course, the smug little salamander had his own plans. He was a strong fire type, and he would show Teddy just how strong his fire was.

The rain pummeled down. Thick droplets splashed against the soggy ground and created large puddles. The dizzy spot panda swayed back and forth on its feet as it teetered about in an uncanny motion. A strange sort of grin covered its face, though its swirled eyes were furrowed and narrowed down upon its target. The small bug had went down, leaving the cream colored bear with randomly placed reddish-brown spots feeling victorious in its wake. It was champion here. It reigned supreme! The Spinda wouldn’t even wait on blonde teenager to decide what he wanted to do next. It raised itself up on one lonesome foot and spun around in several circles, before bringing the other foot back down onto the ground to stop it. The rabbit-eared bear faced away from its enemy, already confident and sure that the battle was now over. After all, shouldn’t it be over? Did it not just defeat its enemy single-handedly? Why should it stick around any longer, while this kid flubbed on with the other strange humans – a lass and some older gentleman? Something slammed into the back of the Spinda’s back as the bear began to walk away. It felt strange, at first. Like a warm summer’s sun, crashing down into the center of the earth. It could feel the heat growing stronger and intensifying from behind until this heat completely consumed the bear. It wailed at the top of its lungs and immediately came crashing down onto the ground. The Spinda would roll around on the ground as it cried out in agonizing pain – more shocked from the attack than anything else. After minutes – minutes that felt like centuries for the strange spot panda – it would rise back up onto its two feet and turn to glare angrily at the scaly orange salamander. How dare this reptile try to singe the great mammal! It charged like a battering ram into the small lizard with such a force that the Spinda would sent both the Charmander and itself tumbling through the grass and into the trunk of a large tree. Note: Characters need our Running Shoes to use 2 moves in one post / round. Otherwise, they are stuck using one move per round. Once you reach Cherrygrove, you can have Teddy pick up his zippy-zappy shoes! Just make sure you know how they work when you pick them up. ^^ Things you can do that don't require use of running shoes is switching out Pokemon & calling out a move, OR using an item and calling out a move. I've went with the first move that was called.

Teddy sighed as he watched the disobedient salamander launch his ineffective attack. It’s raining… why did you think that a fire type attack would work! Teddy thought to himself, trying to not let his anger not become visible to Crissy and her father. Part of him wanted to let go of his pride and ask Crissy’s father for help, after all, he had a Combusken. He must be a good trainer if his Pokemon has evolved. But asking for help is a sign of weakness, the overly prideful teen thought to himself. He wasn’t arrogant or conceited, but had grown up always wanting to be independent and reliant on himself. Here in Johto he had that, and he wasn’t sure he was ready to give that up. Charlie shook himself off and got back to his feet, before prancing back to Teddy. It may have not been his best attack, but it was better than anything that cocoon could do! He was a little worried by how hard the Spinda could hit, however. His prancing turned into just a brisk walk as he looked up at Teddy’s cold stare. He wished he could speak human – he wanted Teddy to know that everything he did was to make Teddy a better trainer. Teddy just needed to see the strength of his moves. He didn’t understand why the boy was so upset when he didn’t listen. It was slightly frustrating that Teddy never seemed to learn from Charlie, instead the trainer just gave the same wrong orders every time.
“Charlie. Growl.” The command was stern and terse. And incorrect. Charlie knew the right move was not growl. He was big and tough; he didn’t need to growl at someone to intimidate them. He was already scary! The correct move was clearly scratch. To tell Teddy that, Charlie turned around and slashed his claws through the air, attempting to imitate scratch. In the process he accidentally hit his trainer, who clutched his shin and mumbled some expletives as he backed away from Charlie. The fiery salamander had never heard his trainer speak like that before, and that worried him. He had really done it this time, making Teddy even more upset. Well, to make it up to him, I’ll show him a good attack, Charlie thought to himself, before running at the wobbly panda. Charlie uses Scratch!

"Great strategy!" Crissy's father commented as he heard what Teddy came up with next order, or tried to get it through to his stubborn charmander. Truth to be told, it wasn't the first time Teddy had tried to get that to work but this time it was made clear to Charlie what was expected of him. Would it work? When the charmander began running a sigh came from the man. Spinda kept staggering here and there, and at first Charlie swiped the air as the bear made an unexpected turn and suddenly wasn't where it was a moment ago. "What? You think those soft paws can do anything? Trying to pat me on the back?" The spinda grinned, "I'll show your human what a real strong pokemon is, and then he'll abandon anything but me since that is all what he needs."It made another spin and somehow managed to avoid the needles in the grass, although the web still snatched at it and it sat down on its rear with a bump. It didn't dampen its mood at all, "I saw you back then, your trainer is strong! Fearless! But you lot, you are not worth his time," It declared and lauhged. It sent a quick admiring look towards Teddy and was not prepared when Charlie threw himself at it, letting his claws loose on its face. "Daaa!" The spinda shouted in pain and tried to shield its face, then it shoved Charlie to the ground and stumbled to its feet. It glared at him but then smirked, "didn't like to hear the truth?""Why does Charlie not do as being told?" Crissy asked her father innocently, "they did so well last time."Her father made several hmms and hmpfs before he answered, "It's another situation Crissy and they are still trying to get to know each other," he was quiet for a moment and if Teddy should look at him, he'd see an expression as if the man had just gotten an idea. "It's like when Sebastian tried to get that cake for the party, the big one you remember?" He said. "And then he dropped it!" Crissy explained with a laugh. "Yes, because he was too proud to get help and tried to take it himself, and if he had talked to Albert who was there and could have helped him, they could have solved it together," the father said eagerly and glanced at Teddy and Charlie to see if they listened. "But Sebastian told Albert to go with the wagon and get the chairs," Crissy said and sounded confused again. "Exactly! Don't you think it would have worked better if they had talked first and then perhaps had used the wagon for the cake first and then the chairs afterwards?" The father suggested and his daughter shouted her agreeing yes. Teddy watched Charlie’s expression sour as the Spinda threw insults at the Charmander. I wonder what they’re saying? Teddy thought to himself as the two Pokémon exchanged their affronts. Of course, Charlie didn’t follow Teddy’s commands, but that was almost becoming expected by now. Charlie pranced back to Teddy, puffing out his chest. “Yeah, you really got him good,” Teddy said dryly. The fiery salamander huffed at his trainer’s sarcasm. Charlie looked up at Teddy expectantly, waiting to see if the boy had finally learned the right way to battle. “You know what?” Teddy asked, as if he was really pondering something significant. “Since you seem to know what you’re doing, why don’t you pick the moves?” Charlie just grunted, already fed up with Teddy’s sarcasm and apparent apathy.
Of course, this Spinda needed to learn its place. How dare it insult Charlie? Charlie was Teddy’s starter Pokémon. Nothing could change that, no one else could take that place. And Charlie wanted to make sure that the Spinda knew that. Charlie ran back out onto the battlefield, and let out a low but assertive growl. It seemed to be effective, as the spotted panda paused it’s wobbling for a moment to look at Charlie.
The Charmander’s trainer didn’t seem to even hear the growl, as he was deep in thought. Fighting that Team Rocket goon, he and Charlie had been such a good pair. What happened? Why did it all fall apart again? Crissy’s father appeared to be a capable trainer, and Teddy just wanted to impress him with what he had learned. Sure, he had helped to save the man’s daughter from Team Rocket, and that was impressive by itself, but something about having him watch the battle made the pressure higher. Teddy was worried his battling skills were being constantly judged. At the same time, since Crissy’s father was a capable trainer, maybe he could help Teddy.
Teddy turned to face Crissy and her father in front of the house. He opened his mouth to speak, but hesitated. Charlie’s my Pokémon, he should be my responsibility… What if Charlie thinks less of me for asking for help?... What about next time when I don’t have help, I need to get tougher now… The negative thoughts poured in, before Teddy finally concluded, I’m strong enough, I can do this on my own. Teddy began to turn back to the battle, but while he did, he glanced up at Crissy’s father. While previously the man had appeared deep in thought, he now looked as though he had had some sort of revelation. Maybe strength is having the courage to ask for help, Teddy thought to himself. He was sure his father had once told him something of the sort. Oh, if only he had been a better listener, and actually paid attention to those lessons. Well, his father was gone now, but Crissy’s father was here, and wisdom seemed to be a common trait among all caring fathers. He took a deep breath, and swallowed his pride.
“Uh…” The man’s attention snapped from the battle to Teddy. Teddy felt his face flush as he realized he hadn’t actually thought of what to say. “Um… I… uh… I can’t… I mean… I don’t know if I can do this on my own. Um… I was wondering… if you have any ideas?” The situation was uncomfortable, as asking for help was unfamiliar territory for the boy. Crissy’s expression, which had been one of slight worry and concern as she watched the struggling duo on the battlefield, slowly melted into relief as Teddy asked the question. Maybe this was the right thing to do, Teddy thought to himself, taking another deep breath to calm his nerves while he awaited Crissy’s father’s response.

The man looked surprised at Teddy when he asked for help, and he glanced at Charlie, whom he had hoped had heard what he had said, but the charmander looked to be busy with the battle. "But you are not alone! You have your pokemon!" Crissy interrupted, "you are so cool together!" Her father smiled, "Crissy is right, you are not on your own, and with pokemon you'll never will," he said warmly and looked at Charlie. "I guess your Charlie is a proud pokemon? If so he probably don't want to take orders," he said thoughtful, "you should try talk with him, tell him your thoughts on the tactic and ask what he wants, who knows, he might know something you don't. If you want to work together as a team the communication should be top priority!"Crissy had nodded along with what her father said, all the way until he had begun to use long complicated words, then a frown appeared on her face. "You are doing great!" The man said with a warm smile, "spinda is not an easy opponent, around these areas they are known to be some of the strongest pokemon there are.""Oh!" Crissy gasped and looked at Teddy with an eager grin, "Then you should catch it!"Spinda paused and tilted its head when Charlie turned his back on it at pranced back to his trainer. "Running from me?" the spinda called after him grinningly, what was it with pokemon who was with humans who always had to go back to their trainer. Spinda would be so much better than that, it could easily hear Teddy from this distance so it would certainly not turn its back on its opponent. "Be glad I didn't took advantage of that and tackled you from behind! See? This is why I'd be better for your trainer than you are!"Charlie came back and the spinda spun, paused and its ears wiggled at the sound of the growling. It giggled and momentarily placed its hands on its hips. "I can do that better than you!" It took the same stance as Charlie and let out a cute growl, which was cut short as it seemingly lost its balance and stumbled several steps to the left. Teddy returned to the lawn, and knelt down next to Charlie. “We don’t really have time to talk tactics right now, so I’ll make this quick,” the trainer said, as he and his Pokémon both observed the wobbling panda. “That Spinda appears to be getting tired out there. Maybe just one more good strong attack, what do you think?” Charlie responded with an enthusiastic “Char!” and the flame on his tail grew brighter, preparing an ember attack. Taking note of the Charmander’s response, Teddy continued, “But it can’t be a fire type move.” Charlie let out a huff, and looked away from Teddy. The boy sighed, and looked down at the ground. Well, that went great, he thought to himself.
Teddy looked back at the house. Crissy gave him an encouraging smile and a thumbs up, while her father nodded in approval of his attempt. Teddy turned back to the battle. “It’s raining, that’s why it can’t be a fire type move. The rain makes your fire less powerful,” he explained to Charlie. Charlie seemed to understand, and turned back to his trainer. “But you have other strong attacks,” Teddy continued. Upon hearing this, the excitement returned to Charlie’s face, and he made a scratching gesture in the air, careful not to hit Teddy this time. “I agree,” said the boy, “I think scratch would be a great move here too.”
Teddy stood up and observed as Charlie launched his attack.

Spinda waited patiently as Teddy communicated with the Charmander. Spinda wanted to be a part of Teddy’s team, and almost as if trying to prove that it would be a more useful pokemon than Charlie, who seemingly would not listen to its trainer occasionally, it proved that it could wait. For a moment it almost felt self conscious about the battle, hoping that Teddy would accept it as a member of its team. It was covered in string, preventing it from moving with as much agility as it was capable of moving, and the battlefield had become littered with poisonous spikes, which the Spinda had deftly been avoiding during the entirety of the fight. As Teddy and Charlie came to a consensus about what attack to use, the spinda in a seemingly random pattern wobbled to and fro. “Another chance to prove that I can do anything you can do better? I’ll take it!” The spinda said as the charmander charged forth. The spinda deftly spun to maneuver out of the way of one of the charmander’s claws, but in spinning it left its back exposed. Charlie’s eye flashed, and it took the opportunity to slash the Spinda in the back. Spinda winced, but rather than falter, it continued its spin and with its paw, reached out and slashed Charlie back. “Hurts, doesn’t it?” The spinda growled at Charlie. As it swirled, out of range of Charlie, getting ready for another volley of attacks, the wild spinda couldn’t help but look up to Teddy, trying to gauge if the trainer thought that it seemed like a strong pokemon. Crissy’s father watched the battle carefully. “See? All you need is a good bit of communication with your pokemon. Once he understands your reasoning behind choosing the moves you’re choosing, he’ll learn to give you his trust. A pokemon can only see the battle from one perspective, this is why when they join a trainer their potential can be maximized.” He offered. Mod recap/note for next mod to this point: Teddy received Charlie from Elm and started on his adventure. Charlie is a proud charmander, doesn’t always listen to orders well from Charlie. During their first encounter with Wurmple, Charlie failed to listen to Teddy even once. The Wurmple (Wiggles) joined Teddy by choice, seeing the potential of a pokemon trainer in him and seeing the kindhearted kind of trainer that Teddy was.
Wiggles and Teddy continue on the route, encountering a lost Eevee, he decides to help the Eevee (Anya) find its lost trainer. Two rattata ambush Teddy and Anya, a pair of rascals who pick a fight with them. Teddy gives an order to use a move which Anya doesn’t have, and has a flashback to another scene where he saw an Eevee use a tackle. Anya and Wiggles dispatch one of the rattata, but Teddy decides he wants to patch things over with Charlie. He sends Charlie out who is annoyed that his trainer has been battling with other pokemon, using other pokemon to battle with. Charlie and Anya work together and finish battling the other Rattata, but they don’t go down easily. Charlie listens to his trainer once and uses the move he wants to, but then changes to another attack in the next round, deciding for itself that it knows which move is the best to use regardless of what Teddy thinks.
Teddy captures one of the Rattata that they knock out, and Anya’s trainer is revealed to be a lass named Crissy. It turns out that Anya and Crissy were separated because a member of Team Rocket chased them apart. The Team Rocket grunt engages Teddy and Crissy in battle, Crissy is reluctant to battle with the Team Rocket trainer, feeling no confidence in her abilities as a trainer. Teddy recalls his childhood where his father tried to encourage him to try things regardless of the chance they might fail. Teddy uses this memory to encourage Crissy to battle with him to fend off the Team Rocket member.
Teddy manages to talk Crissy into working together with him to defeat the team rocket member, but still she feels no confidence in her own battle skills. Teddy and Crissy manage to defeat the Team Rocket Grunt’s pokemon team, bringing him down. He runs away from the pair, but during the battle, Teddy was poisoned. Teddy faints as Charlie finishes the battle off, but wakes up to see Wiggles evolve into a Silcoon, and Crissy helps an incredibly weak and poisoned Teddy walk back to her house.
Crissy helps Teddy by bringing him back to her house, where she introduces him to her father. Crissy’s father seems to be an experienced pokemon trainer, or at least someone familiar with the area. They have a Combusken with them. The father helps Teddy and all of his pokemon recover from the poison by feeding them Pecha Berries.
An eager Spinda seems to have been watching Teddy and Crissy battle the Team Rocket member, and follows them back to Crissy’s house where it engages in battle with Teddy and his team, seemingly eager to join Teddy’s team. The wild Spinda manages to knock out Wiggles. As Teddy uses Charlie once again, the struggle to communicate with his pokemon is revealed again and Charlie continues their streak of disobeying Teddy. Teddy feels unconfident and asks for help from Crissy’s father, which he is surprised by, and Crissy encourages Teddy to keep battling.

“Great work, Charlie!” Teddy called out to the Charmander. He then turned to Crissy’s father. “Thank you for your advice,” he said, trying to contain his excitement over the results of that advice. Charlie finally listened! Even if it was just that one attack, Teddy felt that he had made progress. Maybe he really was capable of being a good trainer, and a Pokémon ranger too. He remembered all the stories his parents had told him about their time as rangers, and how it was all about the bond between Pokémon and trainer. Well, it took some hard work, and there was definitely more work in the future, but he was finally starting to feel that bond. But for now, there was a battle to win. “Ok, Charlie, just one more scratch should be enough!”
Charlie was eager to deliver another blow to the antagonizing panda, but Teddy’s words confused him slightly. Just one more scratch? Sure, Charlie was strong, there was no doubt about that. But it appeared to him that the Spinda probably needed more than just one hit to finally learn it’s lesson about challenging him. This caused him to hesitate slightly, before continuing to launch his attack. Upon seeing Charlie hesitate, Teddy called out again, “You can do it Charlie! Just one more scratch and then we can try to catch Spinda!”
Catch Spinda? Charlie was bewildered. This panda had done nothing but be insulting this entire battle. He wants to have a Pokémon like this on his team? He doesn’t need a Pokémon like this! It’s rude and arrogant, and besides, all he needs is me! Charlie wanted to call off the attack, or maybe miss intentionally, just to prevent that from happening. But at the same time, the only time that Teddy ever acknowledged his greatness was when he followed Teddy’s commands. I don’t need his praise to be great, Charlie thought to himself. But things do seem to be better when we get along, and besides, without him I would still be at the lab. Maybe I do need to listen.
Always a schemer, Charlie quickly came up with a plan both follow his trainer’s orders and still be number one in his trainer’s heart. He would just need to hit that Spinda so hard that it would faint, so that it would become uncatchable. Was it exactly what Teddy wanted? Not technically. But it would show off just how strong Charlie is, and still follows the command he was given. It had to work! And in case it didn’t, Charlie would just have to prove to Teddy that Spinda isn’t worth his time, and that Charlie was the only Pokémon he needed. But that won’t be necessary, Charlie thought to himself. I’m going to win this right now, and Teddy will see how great I am!

Crissy watched the battle with excitement from the sidelines. "Whoa! Keep it up Teddy!" She cheered in an attempt to encourage the trainer. "It looks like that pokemon is weak enough to capture!" Crissy noted in a whispering voice to her father. Her father nodded. "Charlie still has something to prove though." He responded back. "And these two should battle for as long as they can so their bonds can strengthen. Fire types are notoriously challenging to train." The father said, glancing to his Combusken. The combusken remained stalwart, faithfully standing at the ready next to their trainer. The novice trainer's pokemon were sending attacks wildly all through the garden, and if the wild Spinda had approached from the other direction, Combusken had no doubt that its home and family would be thoroughly pierced with poisonous barbs, and the home would have been ignited in flame. Spinda again waited patiently for the Charmander to initiate. Its body was moving wildly, but its head seemed to continue to bob towards the small lizard, keeping its focus entirely on them. "Ready for more?" It asked. "I'll show you again that I can do anything you can do, better!" The spinda said, challenging the lizard. Charlie charged forth, attempting to put all of its force into its claws. The spinda quickly jerked its body to the side as the Charmander's claws drew close, getting lightly grazed by the strike. With a smirk, the Spinda used the force of the scratch to spin itself rapidly around, scratching Charlie right on the back as he passed by. The spinda quickly brought its other claw around, continuing its onslaught to deal a devastating blow. The spinda couldn't help but feel proud of itself, and it looked up to Teddy for approval, taking a few wobbling steps forward, leaving the critically wounded Charmander behind it as they moved closer to the trainer. "Did I do it? Did I prove myself?" They thought to themselves proudly.
