It was a sunny, warm spring day in New Bark Town. Teddy paced around in the street, occasionally stopping to stretch. The plane ride from Sinnoh had been long and a bit cramped. As he walked back and forth through the town, he spotted what looked like a laboratory, as it was bigger than any of the other buildings in the town and looked a bit more modern inside from what he could see through the window. As he was getting off the plane, the flight attendant had said that any new trainers should come to this lab to get their starter Pokémon. So here he was, pacing back in forth in the warm midday sunshine, trying to collect his thoughts about what he would say when he went into the lab.
Walking into the lab, he was greeted by Professor Elm, who offered him a choice of three starter Pokémon. He was immediately drawn to Bulbasaur, as it was a grass type and the bulb on its back reminded Teddy of flowers before they would bloom, just like the ones at his mom’s shop back in Floaroma Town. Then he saw Charmander. His father had had a Charmander back when he was a ranger, and it had worked with him at the Ironworks as well. Teddy had loved to play with Charmander when he was little, but after his father passed, he never saw Charmander anymore. Thinking of his childhood friend, Charmander seemed like the perfect choice. Teddy thanked Professor Elm and left the lab with his new fiery friend in a Poké Ball.
Back out in the street, Teddy looked at the red and white ball in his hand. His first Pokémon. His family’s Pokémon back home were always out of their Poké Balls, so it only seemed fitting to Teddy that Charmander stay out of his ball too. Teddy stared at the ball. He immediately felt a bit ashamed as he realized he had no idea how the thing worked. He had been so excited to get a Pokémon and start his journey that he never thought to ask Professor Elm how to use a Poké Ball. He hated when he got so wrapped up in his emotions like that, when he didn’t even stop to think. Head down and dragging his feet, he walked back into the lab and explained his predicament. Professor Elm happily explained to Teddy how to use the ball.
Back outside, Teddy looked at his map. It looked like Route 29 would be the way to go. He folded the map then pulled the Poké Ball out of his backpack. He pressed the button, and out came Charmander. Charmander looked up at Teddy with a confused expression on his face, not sure of who this energetic looking teen was. “Hi Charlie!” Teddy yelled. “My name’s Teddy. Teddy Watson. I came here from the Sinnoh region and I’m going to be your trainer!” Being loud, especially out in public in the middle of the street like he was right now, was very uncharacteristic of Teddy, but he was just too excited to care right now. That little dream he had in the back of his mind all of his life was finally coming true. He was going on an adventure, and he had his own Pokémon.
Charmander, on the other hand, was not very excited. He had watched at least dozens of kids come and get their starters, day after day, and had grown a bit tired of watching kids get all worked up over getting their first Pokémon. He did kind of like the name Charlie though, so he figured he would give this kid a chance. Professor Elm had told Teddy that Charlie had an adamant nature, and was often very headstrong and set in his ways. Teddy knew this might be a problem early on in the journey, but he was also happy about this because he was also often quite headstrong, and maybe having a similar personality to his Pokémon would help them bond a bit easier.
“Come on Charlie, let’s go,” Teddy said, after he finished introducing himself to Charlie. The Pokémon hesitated, bracing himself for when he was pulled back into the Poké Ball, but it never happened. He looked up at Teddy, who was waving an arm, motioning for Charlie to follow him. Charlie appreciated that he wasn’t immediately thrust back into his ball, and instead he could walk with Teddy and see the world. The duo walked out of New Bark Town and headed down Route 29. Teddy was happy to be in the woods again. It was a bit different than the forest in Sinnoh, but it still felt peaceful there. He smiled as he looked at the Charmander walking along next to him, remembering his walks in Eterna Forest with his parents when he was a kid. He was so lost in thought that he didn’t even notice that they had wandered into the tall grass.

The route was abuzz with all kinds of activity deep in the woods. Chirps and natters, rustles in the wind and other lurking things, pecks and patters from above and nearby. There was no end to the lively bustle surrounding the budding trainer. But all of it was just background noise to Teddy. That was until something came upon them. Just ahead the grass began to part ways for something small moving amidst the sea of growing greens. It was a little slow, but undoubtedly heading toward him and Charlie. Soon the brightly colored back, starkly contrasted against the terrain of which it crawled, would become visible. Its magenta shell poking through the blades of grass looked almost as sharp as the bright eyes locked in on Teddy and his fiery friend. It was determined. Very determined. Wurmple had a spark in its eye that meant business. An undoubtedly serious disposition for what it was heading into. It knew what Teddy was: a trainer. And it knew what it would mean for approaching: a battle. This would be the ultimate test for it. The spiny worm had been training hard all winter. Toughening itself up so it could challenge the most prestigious of those that frequented the route. A certain boisterous young lad who lived nearby and claimed the title of Top Percentage. Wurmple was going to take that title, and Teddy would be the first test of the fruits of all its labour. A wurmple is coming in fast strong! Will Teddy fight it? Declare a move if so

Teddy and Charlie continued to walk down the road, with Teddy walking in front making a bit of a path as he walked through the tall grass, and Charlie following close behind. The initial excitement of having a Pokémon had worn off a bit for Teddy, and he returned to his normal quiet self, walking along in silence with a slight smile on his face. His foot got wrapped up in some of the long grass and Teddy tripped, falling forwards onto the ground. “Char?” Charlie asked, running up to his trainer to see if he was okay. Charlie was happy that Teddy was no longer acting like an excited little kid like he had been at the lab, and instead seemed very determined with their quest. He was starting to think that maybe Teddy could be a pretty good trainer someday. It would still take some more convincing though.
“I’m okay Charlie,” replied Teddy as he began to get back up, brushing the dirt and grass off of his shirt. He was now kneeling in the tall grass, and looked around the area. It was a beautiful day, and the woods and grass were all vibrant shades of green. It was quiet and peaceful, the only noises being some distant Pokémon in the woods, and the gentle rustle of a calm breeze over the grass. Suddenly, Teddy saw some grass start to shake a bit nearby. “Char Charmander,” Charlie said, upon seeing his trainer stiffen up. Teddy turned to him and shushed him, then continued to watch the grass. Whatever it was, it was headed their way.
Soon it was close enough for Teddy to see. It was a Wurmple, and it looked like it wanted to challenge the new trainer. Hey, a Wurmple. I’ve seen a lot of them in Eterna Forest, I’m surprised to find one here in Johto, Teddy thought to himself. The Wurmple came out of the grass and into the small clearing of matted down grass created by Teddy’s fall. It stood there looking at Teddy and Charlie, and the duo stared back. Charlie was impressed that Teddy wasn’t squealing over seeing a wild Pokémon, as he had seen so many kids running into Professor Elm’s lab do in the past. This again increased his confidence in Teddy just a bit more.
Teddy decided he would battle the Pokémon and maybe try to catch it too. It would be a good bonding experience for him and Charlie, and it would be nice to have a familiar Pokémon on his team too. This Wurmple had a spark in its eyes too, it looked very determined and Teddy liked that. Charlie also wanted to battle the Wurmple. Although his respect for Teddy was growing, he felt that Teddy still had much to learn as a trainer. He would show Teddy the proper way to battle a Pokémon. Teddy and Charlie looked at each other and nodded, a silent agreement that they would battle this Wurmple. Teddy pointed at the Wurmple and said, “Okay Charlie, let’s do this. Start this off with growl.” Teddy hoped to lower the attack of the Wurmple first, then lower its health with Charlie’s scratch. But Charlie had other plans. He didn’t need a trainer to tell him what to do, he was tough and he could do it himself. Teddy had a confused expression on his face as Charlie ran towards the Wurmple. “Charlie!” he yelled, a bit of anger in his usually calm and compassionate voice, but Charlie wasn’t listening.
Charlie used scratch.

The wild bug couldn't be more pleased the trainer understood what was happening, and with a calm cool no less. Wurmple was expecting something not unlike the silent thoughts of Charlie. But with its challenge accepted it halted its initial advance to rear the horn on its head and do what it could to seem more menacing. None of its spines were quite developed enough to house the poison known to its species, but there was a chance the assumed greenhorn didn't know that. Wurmple could use all the intimidation points it could get versus the fire type. Teddy started them off with a steady call. The magenta worm huffed noisily in response, immediately balling up and breaking into a roll toward Charlie. However, it was careless in its approach. The wild pokémon was expecting a growl from the charmander and thusly an easy open into the first strike. But that wasn't what it got. Charlie charged in to meet his opponent, sharp little claws at the ready. Once close enough for melee he struck out and landed a solid rake just under the harder shell covering the bug's back. It was a shock for Wurmple to say the least, but not so much that it would abort its own tackle. Charlie wasn't able to maneuver away fast enough to avoid the wurmple wheel and ended up being bowled over. Charlie stood back up after the Wurmple knocked him over. He did his best to shake off the hit, and he returned to his position in front of his trainer. Hey, that worked pretty well, Charlie thought to himself. Teddy will understand eventually, but he’s a new trainer and I need to show him how it’s done. Why would he want me to use growl anyways? That move doesn’t do any damage, it just lowers attack. I’m strong, I’m sure I can handle a few hits, especially if they're no stronger than that last one. I should be attacking this Wurmple, not playing around with stats. I need to show Teddy how strong I am, and that his strategy doesn’t really work.
Charlie waited for Teddy’s next command, hoping that Teddy had figured out the proper way to battle by now. “Charlie. Use. Growl.” Teddy said sternly, a bit frustrated by the situation.
Okay, maybe he just needs to see my strength a couple more times to really understand how to battle. I thought it would be obvious after he saw me use scratch once that that was the move I should be using, but I guess he just doesn’t get it. Charlie took off running towards the Wurmple again. Teddy didn’t say anything this time, just watched as Charlie ignored him. Oh, he’s not protesting this time, Charlie thought, maybe he’s starting to understand. Charlie used scratch.
[OOC: Thanks for letting me know about the new trainer special treatment. I think I'll keep it ON for now, but I might turn it off after this battle.]

Wurmple sat back and collected itself, watching the trainer interact with the fiery pokémon. It seemed pleased. Trainer pokémon were the toughest around from Wurmple's experience. But it assumed so only because the trainer themselves were thinking for the pokémon they sent into battle. Humans were crafty; tactical. So if this charmander wasn't obeying their trainer then it shouldn't be much better than the average pokémon in Wurmple's mind. They were equals. The bug pokémon wriggled its butt spikes excitedly. A new hype racing through its nubby legs as it itched to continue. The trainer called for growl once again but the red lizard launched himself forward instead. Charlie was far faster than Wurmple it noticed. No wonder it was taken by surprise on the first exchange. The charmander's shadow was nearly passing over the bug before Wurmple had even decided what it was going to do in return. Another set of slim claws scraped along the red shell. Wurmple grunted as it bore the pain, letting it fuel its own followup. The worm hopped back a little then sprung into Charlie's stomach. Although he didn’t outwardly show it, Teddy had grown pretty angry. This wasn’t about winning the battle anymore, this was about respect. And while he had respected Charlie and treated him well up to this point, Teddy thought Charlie clearly had no respect for him. After trying his best to shake off the Wurmple's tackle, Charlie walked back over to Teddy after his attack, looking very proud of himself for his scratch. He turned to face the Wurmple and waited for Teddy’s next command, hoping that Teddy had finally learned how to battle. But Teddy’s next words left Charlie shocked. “Charlie, return.” Charlie was too surprised by this to even move as he was pulled into the Poké Ball.
Teddy turned his back to the Wurmple and ran. Anger was replaced by sadness, and eventually Teddy stopped running. He was off the route now, and at the edge of the forest. He slumped down onto the ground with his back against a tree. Charlie’s ball had been in his hand the entire time, and now he held it up to his face, examining it as he spun it around in his hand. They had only just met, but he thought Charlie was his friend. Turns out he was wrong. And now Teddy was alone, in a strange country, with not even a single friend.
Tilting his head forward, Teddy pressed his forehead against the Poké Ball and exhaled, his breath a bit shaky. He was glad no one else was around to see him, the weak new trainer breaking down on the side of the road. The anger and disappointment he had felt during the battle turned into sadness, guilt, and shame. “Was it something I did?” he mumbled to himself. “How will I ever be a good trainer if my Pokémon don’t like me? I’m never going to be a Pokémon Ranger, I’m never going to be anything…” He threw his dad’s old ranger hat onto the ground as tears started to run down his face. He hadn’t cried since nearly two years ago, when his father passed. He hated it, it made him feel weak and vulnerable, but he couldn’t help it.
Suddenly, he heard the rustling of grass. Teddy picked his head up, wiping the tears from his eyes as he looked around for the source of the noise. Dammit, someone probably heard me, he thought as he continued to scan the grass. The grass just in front of him parted, and out came the Wurmple. It had scratch marks from their earlier battle, and looked like it was getting tired, but it still had that determined fire in its eyes. Teddy recognized that this Wurmple still wanted to challenge him.
“I’m sorry for running away Wurmple. It was really wrong of me to do that, and it’s not what you deserve. If you want to battle, then let’s battle. I won’t run away this time.” Teddy paused for a moment as he looked at Charlie’s ball in his hand, took a deep breath, then pressed the button. “Okay Charlie, this Wurmple wanted to challenge us, so it’s only right for us to finish this battle.” “Char,” Charlie groaned in reply, irritated that he had been put in his ball. He turned to face the Wurmple, determined to win, and to finally get through to Teddy about how to battle.
“Charlie. Growl.” Teddy said, his voice harsh and stern. He hadn't been playing around before, but now he was definitely serious. But Charlie wasn’t listening. He was expecting to be told to growl, and had started running towards the Wurmple before Teddy had even finished his command.
Charlie used scratch.
[OOC: I'd like to turn the new trainer bicycle mode OFF if that's okay. I don't mind waiting if it means there's a little more story. Thanks!]

The Wurmple admired the kid, if for the only thing, that he was willing to admit that it was wrong to leave the battle. After all, it had such little tiny legs, it had been quite the work out to come all the way after them like that. It panted just a little bit, supple nose heaving as it tried to catch it's breath. It was apologized to, and it stood up a little straighter on its many little legs. Yes! It accepted the apology, the child would need to cry no longer! For the mighty Wurmple was still ready to face him, so long as he would send the hurty orange thing back from its ball to fight with it. It chirped to itself cheerfully as the Charmander came back out.
But Charlie didn't think in similar fashion to his trainer. He looked at Teddy's tear stained face and snorted. He had to learn to be tougher. After all, the opponents they may face in the future wouldn't be as innocent as a Wurmple, and you couldn't just talk your way out of every single battle. So when he was called to growl, he simply ignored it, instead charging at the wurmple and raking his claws across the Wurmple's face. Wurmple cried out and despite being so injured, retaliated with Tackle. Now this, this was a battle worthy of Wumrple the Great! It looks like Clear Skies! (No Effect)! Wild Wurmple |Level 4| HP: 5% (1/18) Status: Normal! Wurmple used Tackle! Wurmple did 4 Damage! The Fight is what I live for...
Teddy's Charlie |Level 5| HP: 60% (12/20) Status: Normal Charlie disobeyed orders and used Scratch! Charlie landed a Critical hit and did 7 Damage! I ain't a baby!

“Charlie…” Teddy whispered, the anger in his voice turning to sadness. Charlie turned around, ready to make a snarky reply. His trainer had run from a battle, and Charlie thought he was weak for that. This Wurmple was an easy opponent, and if Teddy couldn’t handle this, then he wouldn’t be able to handle anything. There were tough trainers out there, much harder than a little bug. Teddy needed to get a grip.
But Charlie stopped when he saw his trainer’s face. Teddy stood there with his arms crossed, trying to look angry and disappointed. It wasn’t working. His mouth was in a slight frown, and his bottom lip was trembling a little. His eyes were full of sadness, and a bit red. Streaks from his earlier tears were still visible his cheeks. While earlier Charlie had thought the tears were Teddy being a weak trainer, from Teddy's dejected tone he could tell that they were actually because of him.
Charlie immediately felt guilty. He had gotten too carried away with trying to show Teddy his ‘proper’ way to battle. He had hurt his trainer. He was so concerned with earning Teddy’s respect that he hadn’t shown any back to Teddy. But Teddy had respected him. He had shown it through the little things, like keeping Charlie out of his ball, talking with him without acting like Charlie was a baby, sharing snacks with him along their trip. The biggest indicator of his respect for Charlie was the confidence Teddy had in him at the start of their battle with Wurmple. “Return,” Teddy muttered, his voice raspy and shaking.
Before he could show Teddy that he was sorry, Charlie was pulled back into his Poké Ball. Teddy put the ball in his backpack, took a deep breath, and then walked over to the Wurmple. Wurmple had a puzzled expression on its face. It had never faced a trainer that had done this before. They would usually just catch wild Pokémon or leave them, but they never walked up to it and talked to it. Trainers were supposed to be tough battlers, that's why it had challenged this one. “I’m sorry we couldn’t give you our best like you deserved, Wurmple,” Teddy said. “I can tell you are a very strong Pokémon, and very determined. As you can see, Charlie and I need to get a lot stronger. I was wondering if you would want to get stronger with us? If you don’t, I understand, we didn’t look like much of a team worth joining right now…”
Although the Wurmple’s health was probably low enough to catch it, Teddy didn’t think it would be fair to do so after the poor performance he and Charlie had just put on. He wanted to leave the decision up to the wild Pokémon. While he spoke, Teddy pulled a Poké Ball out of his bag and set it down in front of the Wurmple. “The choice is yours.”

Wurmple noticed immediately that something wasn't right between the trainer and pokemon duo. It seemed like the Charmander had upset the boy somehow. Clearly, the battle should have gone much differently based on the trainers command, but his Charmander had failed to heed the orders. It was clear Charlie and Teddy had a lot to learn, they needed to grow together. But right now that wouldn't happen if they didn't speak to each other, learn how to communicate without speaking the same language. Wurmple watched as Teddy returned the Charmander to its capsule. It was glad it didn't need to do that! But when the boy knelt down in front of it and started speaking to it, it wondered if anyone that it had come across had done that yet.
No, no, no. This was a special boy indeed. As Teddy spoke to Wurmple, it twisted its body slightly in confusion. He was sorry? that was something it didn't hear every day. Nor did it expect him to place the Pokeball onto the ground and give it the option of coming with him. Oh a rarity indeed! Wurmple thought about slinking away, back to its wild life, but the boy's kind words and sad face stopped it. Instead, it slowly slinked over to Teddy and let out a soft trill meant to comfort him, rubbing its head against his leg for a moment or two with affection. Following this, the Wurmple wormed its way on stubby little legs to the ball, and pushed it open with its bulbous nose. The red light engulfed the Pokemon and sucked it into the ball. With few shakes and little struggle, the ball clicked shut, telling Teddy that the Pokemon had been captured.

OOC: Wurmple Name: Wiggles Gender: Female Level: 4 OT: Teddy Watson Attacks: Tackle, String Shot Ability: Shield Dust Nature/Personality: Bold
Teddy picked up the Poké Ball off the ground. A grin spread across his face; he had caught a Pokémon! After examining the ball, he pressed the button, letting out the Wurmple. “I guess we ought to have a proper introduction. My name is Teddy Watson, and I’m from the Sinnoh region. I’m glad you decided to come with us, Wurmple. I think I’ll call you…” Teddy paused for a moment, realizing he should have thought of a name for the Pokémon before starting his introduction. The Wurmple looked at him expectantly, squirming around impatiently. “I think I’ll call you… Wiggles!” Teddy said, noting the Wurmple’s current squirming.
Wiggles? Wiggles! The worm Pokémon thought to herself, What kind of name is that for a fierce battler like me? How will I ever be the best battler if this kid calls me Wiggles at the start of each battle?
“I hope you like that name…” Teddy said. “Do you like it?” Wiggles looked up at her trainer, who had a big grin on his face as he crouched down before the Pokémon. The boy’s cheeks were still tearstained, so the Wurmple stretched out her body and rubbed itself against his face, trying to wipe off the stains. Teddy giggled, as it tickled a bit. “I guess that means you like it, huh,” He said, smiling.
No no no no no, that is not what I meant, I just wanted to make you look better. Wiggles thought, frantically pulling back from Teddy. She then looked up at her trainer’s face, recalling the earlier incident with the Charmander. Well, if it makes you happy, I guess it wouldn’t be the worst thing…
“Okay Wiggles, let’s go,” Teddy said, turning around and beginning to walk down the route again. He stopped as Wiggles went the opposite direction as him. She went over to the tree where Teddy had been sitting earlier, then stopped. Teddy walked over, perplexed as to what Wiggles was doing. When he got to her, he saw that she was sitting on top of his ranger hat, the one he had thrown earlier. “Thanks,” he said. Wiggles didn’t move from the hat, so he picked up both hat and Pokémon and sat them on his head. They then continued down the road, Wiggles riding atop the hat.
As they walked, Teddy thought of his other Pokémon, who was still in a ball in his backpack. He sighed. He knew he would have to fix things eventually, but he wasn’t quite sure how, or if he really even wanted to. It would have to wait for another time. For now, he would enjoy the sunshine, the forest, and the company of his newest traveling companion.

Wiggles happily sat on top of Teddy's head, the duo continued to make their way down the route. A bright and shiny day, it seemed that everyone was busy with something. There were trainers battling against one another, trainers battling wild Pokemon, and Rattata scuttling about in the grass chasing the flippant smells of wild berries. In fact a pair of the little purple Pokemon scuttled across Teddy's path, but they didn't seem to pay any attention to him, an Oran berry clutched in the teeth of one of them. Wiggles watched them go by, but from the top of Teddy's hat, she noticed something else there in the graases.
A small fox stood there, brown with large dough eyes and gentle pawsteps. It was clearly looking for something, or perhaps someone? Wiggles wasn't sure, but she tried her best to direct Teddy's attention towards it, hoping he would get what she was trying to point him too. After all, she had never ever seen this kind of Pokemon on the route before, and it didn't look wild. No...it was wearing a shiny purple collar! It saw them after a moment, but by the way its eyes lit up at the sight of a human, it was clear it was no wild Pokemon.
The little Pokemon darted in the grass towards Teddy, and seemed excited until it reached him. Suddenly its eyes looked less happy, and its ears drooped back as it came to the realization that this person was not the person it was looking for. It looked almost dejected and shook its head sadly. 'Vee...' it crooned. After a moment, it glanced up at Teddy. Maybe he knew where she was? This little Eevee appears to be looking for someone. Will you stop and help Eevee find who they're seeking, or will you continue on your way?
(I came up with a special plot for Teddy after reading his last few posts. If you don't feel like a special quest you can turn down helping Eevee! If you want to continue then this thread is RESERVED BY KATAYA until further notice!)

It was a beautiful afternoon on Route 29, and trainers and Pokémon alike were taking full advantage of it. Teddy and Wiggles walked down the road, occasionally stopping to see battles, or watching the wild Pokémon darting in and out of the woods. Teddy was mindlessly walking down the route, lost in thought. Suddenly, Wiggles hung down over the bill of Teddy’s hat and stuck her face right in his. “Ah!” Teddy screamed, jumping backwards while he flailed his arms around. “What was that for?”
Wiggles stretched out her body, pointing in the direction she had seen the Eevee earlier. “Huh? I don’t see anything...” Teddy was about to walk away when an Eevee came running out of the grass. It stopped when it got to Teddy, and looked up at him, ears drooping. “Look Wiggles, an Eevee!” Teddy said, excited. He was about to challenge it to a battle when he saw a purple collar around its neck. He looked down into its big, sad eyes. “You’re someone’s Pokémon, aren’t you? Are you lost?” He said, as the Eevee sadly nodded and let out a sad “Vee…” Teddy crouched down in front of the little fox. “Alright, we’ll help you find your trainer.” At this, the Eevee’s ears shot back up and it jumped around happily. “Okay, lets go,” he said, scooping up the Eevee in his arms. The route was crowded, so it might be hard to find Eevee’s trainer, but he decided he would ask some of the trainers around him and maybe he would get lucky and the trainer would be nearby.
Teddy decides to help the Eevee.

Eevee wasn't so sure about this boy yet. He was nice, yes but could he help her find who she was looking for? She twitched an ear softly as he scooped her up. The touch to her fur caused her to flinch for a moment, but she settled after another. But she had a name, didn't she? She gently patted a paw against Teddy's chest before pointing out the tag on her collar with the other. Handwritten on it seemed to be a name: "Anya". One might wonder why someone would lose their Eevee, because she certainly hadn't been abandoned. Still, with some dangerous folks running around, there would be no surprise if someone was already on her tail. So it was best to find Anya's owner.
Anya's ears twitched, and after a moment, she wiggled her way out of Teddy's arms and hopped onto the floor. Her fur bristled just as the grass started to rustle, and two Pokemon emerged then. It was the same mouse duo that had run past Teddy's feet earlier. Oh, they had thought about it, and the human must have food. He had two Pokemon with him, so he had to have a lot of goodies and they both wanted in on it. The pair of Rattata chattered their teeth in a silent demand that they were given the food they came for. Anya looked back at Teddy. She would fight by his side, but he'd need to lend some aid with Pokemon of his own. Wild Rattata (Level 5) and Wild Rattata (Level 4) are blocking your path! Anya wants to help you fight them!

Teddy smiled as the Eevee relaxed in his arms. As he was looking around trying to see if someone was searching for the lost Pokémon, he felt one of Eevee’s paws press against his chest. She pointed out her nametag. “So, your name’s Anya… I bet your owner misses you right now just as much as you miss them. Don’t worry Anya, we’ll find your owner, I promise,” Teddy said, trying to soothe the worried Eevee.
Suddenly, Anya flailed around in Teddy’s arms, squirming free and jumping onto the ground. She then ran a little ahead. Teddy thought maybe she had seen her owner, but he realized that was not the case as Anya tensed up as she stared into the grass. Two Rattata burst out of the grass, stopping in front of Teddy. Teddy remembered seeing the duo earlier, they had been running around pestering trainers for food, and they probably wanted the same from him. “I’m sorry, I have nothing for you, go away now.” Teddy said, not wanting to be bothered while in the middle of his quest to return Anya. But the Rattata wouldn’t leave. Instead, they started to pester Anya. Anya looked back at Teddy, very annoyed by the two mice and wanting a battle. Teddy recognized this.
“Do you want to battle with us Anya?” Teddy asked, to which the Eevee responded with a nod. “Alright then, go, Wiggles!” Teddy exclaimed, pointing dramatically over the field. A small group of young trainers had gathered, as many had not seen an Eevee before, since they were not native to the starting route. They were also excited for the double battle. But as Teddy called Wiggles to battle, the group fell silent, waiting for the battle to begin. But nothing happened, as Wiggles was still on Teddy’s hat, which was far too high to jump from. After spending an uncomfortable amount of time pointing out over the battle, Teddy realized this. Turning away from the giggling crowd so they wouldn’t see his embarrassment, he took off his hat and set it on the ground so Wiggles could join the battle. There I go, getting all caught up in my excitement again… Teddy thought to himself as he turned back to the battle. I’ll have to be careful not to do anything else stupid during this battle.
Teddy watched the Rattata for a moment, thinking of a strategy. He had seen them running around earlier, and they were very fast. How could he counter that? And at the same time, he had no idea what Anya’s moves are, or even what level she was. “Okay Wiggles, these two are pretty quick, so let’s slow them down. Use string shot.” Teddy commanded, before turning to Anya. “Um… okay. You have claws, like my Charmander. How about you try and scratch the first Rattata, Anya.”
Wiggles uses String Shot.Teddy tries to get Anya to use Scratch.
[OOC: Is Anya's moveset the Gen 4 low level Eevee moves (Helping Hand, Tackle, and Tail Whip) or does she know other moves? Was just wondering so that I don't have to guess moves for the entire battle. Thanks!]
