Beautifly [Swarm]: Paralyzed ... Used Stun Spore! Missed Zarow [Keen Eye]: Normal ... Used Thunder Wave!
The crackle of static electricity building up around spearow didn't go unnoticed by the beautifly. It nothing short of surprising. Without really thinking it through the bug whipped up a quick set of paralytic spores itself and sent them wafting Zarow's way. The bird scoffed at the meager attempt to duplicate its special move. With ease he dodged the cloud and then sent the wave of electrical energy into the air.
"Good Zarow," Aglaia praised as she took aim of the beautifly, she was not the best thrower and could easily miss her target. She didn't think it would be hard to catch it if she just managed to hit it, it was paralyzed and all, that couldn't be too hard, right?
Zarow was proud of himself and he mentally gave himself a pat on the shoulder for his quick thinking and awesome dodging of the dust. The butterfly needed to do more than throwing a bit of spores at him to be a threat. He glanced impatiently down at Aglaia, when was she going to throw that ball? If she didn't do something soon he would start a real battle, if she wanted it capture it before she would have to do it now.
The park ball flew through the air and Aglaia tried to will it to hit the target. It was not easy to hit a moving target midair.
Beautifly [Swarm]: Paralyzed ... Couldn't Move! Zarow [Keen Eye]: Normal
The ball finally went into the air and lobbed the butterfly on its side and sucked it in. The device tumbled into the tall grass, making it difficult to keep tabs on visually but the sounds were still clear. After a good thrashing the sport ball cracked and flung open. Beautifly shuddered on the ground at first, the paralysis settling in after the work of fighting off the ball. After a moment it got back into the air, but that's all it was able to do.
"Yes! I did it!" Aglaia exclaimed triumphantly when the park ball hit its mark and the beautifly disappeared into it. She grimaced a moment later when the pretty bug popped out a moment later, it wouldn't be as easy as she had hoped it seemed. She didn't get to decide what to do next as Zarow whipped up a wind around him and Aglaia had to cover her face and back away as the wind began to batter her too. She would need to find a way to stop him before he did too much damage on the beautifly, it would take too many points from the final score.
Beautifly [Swarm]: Paralyzed ... Used Gust! Zarow [Keen Eye]: Normal ... Used Razor Wind! (1/2)
Whatever Zarow started doing Beautifly seemed to be trying to copy. First the failed stun spore and now just as the fancy spearow began working up an elegant wind so did Beautifly. Perhaps the bug was trying to learn from Zarow's greatness. At first the gust didn't seem like much, but the butterfly kicked it up a notch as Zarow tried to turn his nose up at the hasty bluster. It was devastating, chaotic, unexpected. The proud spearow was turned head over heels and spun every which way before landing back in the thrall of thick grasses.
The blow made Beautifly feel better about its situation, but it made Zarow all the more determined to preform even better. He just needed a bit more time to craft the perfect gale to cut into the colorful bug. Zarow took to the air and began working even harder.
There wasn't much for Aglaia to do than to watch worried as Zarow was send tumbling through the air form the harsh wind and for a moment it looked like it would interrupt his own attack. He had first thought that the beautifly had mimicked him and wanted to be as great as him, but now as he thought to regain his balance and not lose the hard work he had already put into his attack. He picked up on the rough wind the beautifly had sent at him and did his best to turn it around and send it straight at it.
Aglaia had quickly found a potion for her bird but was uncertain of to give it to him, would he even accept that he was hurt and would need help? How could she turn it around so he didn't see it as him being weak? It would require that he survived until his move was finished though.
Beautifly [Swarm]: Paralyzed ... Used Absorb! Zarow [Keen Eye]: Normal ... Completed Razor Wind!
It was complete. Zarow released his ripping wind to the fluttering bug and watched as it tore into Beautifly. It was only a bunch of little cuts, but still felt satisfying. The butterfly retaliated by swooping in and trying to suck the remaining vitality from the bird, but Zarow managed to hold on.
Zarow landed panting on the ground, he still looked challenging at the beautifly but it was clear that he was exhausted and wouldn't be able to do much more. Perhaps except to himself. Aglaia looked nervously at the beautifly, it looked to be full of energy and perhaps was more than Zarow could handle, but opposite the beedrill there was no running away now.
The woman narrowed her eyes at the bird, he didn't really look hurt just tired, it looked like it was pure pride that kept him on his feet but it wouldn't help him much in the long run. Aglaia looked at the potion in her hand and then dived into her bag to find something else. Potions was for healing wounds, Zarow could use something to give him an energy kick, like sugar or caffeine. She got her hands on a lemonade she had bought the other day, this would do. It was perhaps not the most healthy thing to give him, but just a single time couldn't be a problem, right?
"Zarow, I have something for you," Aglaia called and the bird snapped around to look at her, almost like he had forgotten she had been there. He turned back to look at his opponent and ignored his trainer, he was busy right now. "You are doing so great that I think you deserves a treat!" Aglaia urged and he jumped startled as she had moved to sit right beside him. He glared her in disbelief as she offered him to drink from a bottle, and he kept looking at the butterfly to keep check on where it was. He gestured for Aglaia to move out of the way and tried to jump around her, but she followed and at last he accepted to drink the sweet stuff she offered him, it tasted good but he didn't really tasted it as he was in the middle of a battle! He would leap forward to shelter Aglaia for any attack from the beautifly, should it come too close to the human, and Aglaia would retreat back to her bag and find a park ball to be ready for another catch attempt.
(ooc: Using a Lemonade on Zarow, thanks for letting him survive the round )
Despite being minimally damaged the Beautifly was quite happy to have a moment itself. The paralysis was strengthening, making it hard to even fly. While Aglaia and Zarow bonded a little and freshened up, the colorful bug took a moment to land and relax its muscles.
Zarow smirked when the beautifly kept its distance to them, he was certain it was due to his impressive move that had made the bug hesitate to attack again. He felt much better after the short break and he made certain that the Beautifly stayed where it was until Aglaia was well out of the way and out of danger. He then got airborne and ready to finish off his opponent, but Aglaia was faster. A park ball flew through the air towards the butterfly and Zarow huffed, he didn't even get a chance to hold a little speech and tell his opponent it had fought well.
Beautifly [Swarm]: Paralyzed ... Used Absorb! Zarow [Keen Eye]: Normal ... Threw a sport ball!
The ball flew and sucked the butterfly inside. Once, twice... the ball shook furiously back and forth but just before the third notable round of thrashes it cracked and broke open. Beautifly hummed then moved to suckle more energy away from the bird, recovering a bit of its own in the process.
Aglaia grimaced as the beautifly broke yet another park ball, it refused to get caught and it made her question her first desire to catch it. To be honest she probably wouldn't end up using it much now she had Wystan and Dorthea had Madam. Her initial excitement for it was just that Dorthea had one as well, but there was no reason for them to have the same kind of pokemon, actually it would give them a much bigger advantage if they spread out what types they had. "Zarow, I think it is best not to capture it anyway. I'm sorry, could you tell it off?" Aglaia called out and the za-pearow looked surprised at her, but he didn't let her tell him that twice!
"You have fought well and has been a great opponent, but I will end this now as we need to get going," Zarow declared and picked up speed and raced along the ground. Aglaia looked surprised as she hadn't seen the use of Aerial Ace before.
Beautifly [Swarm]: Paralyzed ... Used Stun Spore! Missed Zarow [Keen Eye]: Normal ... Used Aerial Ace!
Zarow sped along the tips of grass blades, wings shining, and smashed the Beautifly head over heels. It was sent reeling to the ground, dizzy and not quite sure which way was up. It wobbled on the ground, trying to catch the fleeting sight of the flying spearow and send the only area of attack it had: spores. Sadly the speeding bird was far too fast on the retreat for the stun spore to catch him.
Zarow did not slow down and grinned when he noticed the spores that floated harmlessly to the ground, the beautifly clearly didn't stand a chance against him. He soared around and raced towards it from another ankle to avoid the remaining spores. This time it would surely go down, wouldn't it?
Aglaia had found her pokedex and had been looking up her pokemon to learn what move he used. It sound pretty effective that Aerial Ace, Aglaia hoped it would be enough to help Zarow come out on top of this battle. He seemed like he had grown quite a bit already which she was pleased with, he still had a long way to go but the bugs had proved to be a good place to start. Perhaps she should bring Paloma next time?
