Aglaia waved goodbye to Dorthea and watched her leave with her shining ponyta. Had Aglaia been a collector she surely would have been jealous of the shiny pony but Aglaai knew how energetic Sinos was and was content that he was Dorthea's responsibility.
Besides she had her own special pokemon with her which she had adopted from someone who had found him quite a handful. The only reason she dared to bring him along for this contest was that it was a bit more sheltered environment that out in the wild, she knew what she could meet, and that it had went so well with Saury last year.
He was a special breed that was made to look similar to how the legends described Zapdos and the couple had pampered the bird so much that he acted like he thought he was a legendary pokemon.

Aglaia had waited until she found a quiet spot before she had let him out, she had met him briefly before and he knew he was traveling with her now, and he had gracefully agreed upon it.
"I hope you will help me in this competition, we need to find the best bug type to win over the others," Aglaia told the za-pearow who perched regally on a branch.
The look he gave her was unreadable for her and then he took to the sky, Aglaia hoped that meant he was going to help her.

It quickly became clear that Zarow was not the only one taking up space in the sky. The keen bird was quick to pick up on the flying bug, seemingly unconcerned with the foe being three times his size and a fully evolved form.

Zarow certainly didn't have any lack in courage but Aglaia knew he didn't have much experience and really haven't been trained in battles like she planned to use him.
As the beedrill appeared Aglaia smiled fondly for obvious reasons, beedrill would always have a special place in her heart for obvious reason. This one looked really big and bulky, much more than Wystan and Aglaia guessed that it had participated in a lot of battles.

Zarow zoomed after it and Aglaia frowned, she wasn't certain the little bird had much chances against the big bug, besides she really wasn't interested in another beedrill. Wystan was all she needed.
"Zarow, come back!" She called out and he paused to look at her frowning, didn't she want to capture strong bugtypes?
"I already have a beedrill and I don't need another. We're have a limited time so it would be better to try find something else," Aglaia explained and Zarow narrowed his eyes but let the beedrill go. Should it go after him anyway he would try stop it with a Thunder Wave.

(Ooc: Attempting to run from the battle as Zarow wont survive this meeting and it would be a shame to be out of the competition already)

The Beedrill went after the bird and girl for a moment, curious at their behaviour, but the threat of electricity was enough to make it turn around. Birds were scary enough even without surprises. The next thing that came crawling into view was a Nincada.

Aglaia smiled as the beedrill shoved some curiosity before it left them alone. Zarow had only kept half an eye on it as he had returned to Aglaia, clearly not feeling threatened in any way.

"Oh, this looks interesting, I met it last autumn but I had another captured already" Aglaia said as the nincada arrived on the scene and decided they could just as well start with this one.
Zarow had already glided forward and landed directly in front of the white bug. He stood with spread wings and a proudly lifted chin. He would have looked impressive if he had been a zapdos instead of a littel bird who almost disappeared in the tall grass. Aglaia bit her lips worriedly, the problem with the nincada was that she couldn't paralyze it and as she hadn't seen Zarow in battle she feared he wouldn't be able to cope with much yet.
She decided to test her luck and simply hurled a pokeball at the nincada.

Nincada almost seemed desperate to be caught as there was no struggling at all when the sport ball sucked it in.

Zarow grew to LV 13!
He would like to learn Fury Attack; forget an old move?

Aglaia exhaled relieved when the park ball confirmed the capture with its signature ding. Zarow had survived his first battle and even without taking any damage, which meant that he would stand a better chance in the furture battles.

"Well done Zarow, let's see what else we can find," Aglaia said with a smile as she went to pick up the pokeball. It was closed solid to make sure she wasn't trying to use her newly caught pokemon, or heal it should she have injured it in battle. She guessed that rule was to try motivate the participants to go nicely on the bugs and not getting caught in a frenzy in the attempt to win.

Zarow nobly granted Aglaia a look and a nod as thank you when she praised him. It was no surprise the nincada had chosen to stay inside the ball when the opportunity was to face such and magnificent beast like himself.
He turned his head when he heard a sound, gracefully sprung into the air and lead the way to a creed where something was rummaging around.

As Aglaia and Zarow searched the tall grass for another bug type it was not long before another came into view. A large fuzzy purple Pokemon known as Venonat stepped out right in front of her and tilted its body trying to figure out why the human was there. Being rather young it did not remember any of the previous bug catching contests and did not know just how dangerous it was to come out of hiding when it was ongoing.

They didn't get to reach the creek before the reason of the sounds popped out of the tall grass.
"It looks young, I think I rather want to keep the nincada I caught before," Aglaia said and thought it might be a good opponent for Zarow.
"I think it will be good training, and Peck would be best," Aglaia said to Zarow, who glared offended at her, she recoiled.
"Good training for it I mean, how much can't it learn by facing you?" Aglaia quickly attempted to save it and she exhaled relieved when it looked like Zarow was buying it.
He did at least fly towards the Venonat and circled it once.
"Don't worry, I will go easy on you, watch and learn," he told the purple bug and waited until he was certain it was ready before going in and giving it a Peck

Venonat: Normal ... Used Confusion!
Zarow [Keen Eye]: Normal ... Used Peck!

The bird didn't look all that tough to Venonat, and it didn't like the condescending look it was getting. Zarow was much faster, so there was little the fluffy bug could do to stop the peck from knocking on its noggin, but afterward. Afterward it was easy to catch the pompous bird's gaze and cast a whirl of confusing energy his way. To the bug's disappointment it didn't seem to affect Zarow all that much.

Aglaia followed the battle nervously but it looked like Zarow was doing fine at the moement, she hoped that the part of him not reacting to the venonnat's attack was because it didn't bother him, and not because he was too proud to show it.
Zarow turned his tail and made a sharp dive at the purple bug to give it another lesson with the help of his beak, not that he once thought of what that lesson might be or what the venonat would gain for him pecking it repeatedly.
the little he felt its retaliation just confirmed his belief he was special and much stronger than everyone else around him.

Venonat was too sluggish for the costumed spearow. Another peck on the side did it in, though the purple bug fought on the edge of consciousness for a moment to attempt another attack of its own. It couldn't muster enough strength to do so though, and fell back into the tall grass.

Zarow had a gleam in his eyes as the venonat collapsed in the grass, it might not had been a great challenge but it had awoke something unknown inside the za-pearow, it had been exhilarating!
He waited impatiently for Aglaia to catch up with him before he lead the way into the undergrowth in the search of their next encounter and Zarow hoped he would get to try out this battling once again.

Aglaia watched him intently, she could see something had changed with him and she hoped it was for the better.

(ooc: and I was about to forget to react about the move offering again *sighs*. Zarow forgets Peck to learn Aerial Ace)

It didn't take long for that beak extension to poke something through the thicket. A surprised squeal chirped just a second before rustling burst to the air with a flutter of gorgeous wings. Hoenn's version of Butterfree. The delicate butterfly rubbed its cheek where Zarow had unintentionally poked it.

"Oh, that one is just like Madam!" Aglaia exclaimed and Zarow looked confused at her but Aglaia didn't think of explaining to him.
"That could be fun to show her, let's try to capture it," she continued and Zarow sighed a bit, that would mean less battling for him, he had already guessed what would be best and saw no reason to wait to be given orders. He attempted to zap the butterfly with his Thunder Wave if that was going to be enough only time could tell.
