Sleeping (1/3)! Saury [Overgrow]: Normal ... Used Sleep Powder! The mantis brandished its scythes as the ivysaur powered forward. The feint was completely unexpected. Scyther was geared and ready for an exchange of physical blows when Suary suddenly stopped and burst forth a wave of spores. The bug pokémon tried to reel back and avoid the spray but it was far too late. Within seconds its eyes fell shut and consciousness slipped away into a dreaming state. Scyther slumped to the ground, twitching in its sleep.

Aglaia sighed relieved when the trick worked and scyther finally slumbered.
"Well done Saury, stand back," Aglaia said and looped a park ball at the green bug.
Saury watched troubled. It stil felt wrong to trick your opponent like that and he worried how the scyther's reaction would be if the park ball worked.
When he thought about it, he worried what it would do if it didn't work. He doubted it would fall for another trick.

The ball encapsulated the bug pokémon but no sooner had it hit the ground did the device crack violently and spit Scyther out once again. Despite being asleep the mantis was restless. Kicking and twitching as it fought in its sleep.

Aglaia frowned when the scyther broke out of the pokeball, it was typical her to be this unlucky. How was it even possible for the bug to fight back while it was sleeping? It was a thing she had never understood.
There was nothing else she could do than try again and hope the park ball would do the trick this time.

But much like the first the thrashing of the slumbering scyther proved too much for it to handle. More and more did the bug type stir in its sleep. It made one wonder what sort of dream it was having. Didn't seem pleasant.

Aglaia groaned when the scyther broke out once again, she would run out of Sport balls at this rate and it stirred more and more and she feared it would wake up soon.
She frowned as she wondered what to do as she couldn't decide how much she wanted to capture this scyther. She decided that she didn't want to risk running out of time or sport balls and risking missing the bug type entirely.
"If it wakes up, Tackle it and follow up with a Sleep Powder," Aglaia said quietly to Saury who nodded and watched the scyther closely.

Woke up. Used False Swipe! Fell asleep again (1/3) Saury [Overgrow]: Normal ... Tackle and Sleep Powder! The Scyther opened it's eyes the moment Aglaia had given her tactic to Saury, and it jumped up in agitation, only to be trampled by Saury before it fully got its bearings again. Still groggy it swiped after him almost cutting at the leaves on his back. It was all to late to register that it had gotten too close to his following powder attack, and it slumped down again, before it could attack him further.

Both Aglaia and Saury was surprised on how the round turned out, with how unlucky Saury had been with his Sleep powder in the first tries they had more or less expected it to miss this time as well.
Aglaia realized there was no time to lose and she threw another sports ball at the sleeping scyther, perhaps this time she would get lucky and it would stay inside?

Aglaia exhaled relieved and then jumped when the paras suddenly appeared beside her, way too close to comfort. She stood frozen while the pokemon looked around in confusion, and then finally taking off to disappear in the undergrowth.
Saury came trotting over to Aglaia with the sport ball containing their newest catch, he didn't look forward to when she was going to call it out. He feared it was going to held grudges against them.
Aglaia didn't say anything about that as she took the pokeball and thanked her ivysuar, but she thought so herself. Scyther looked quite intimidating with those huge scythes so she wasn't sure she dared to handle it herself.
"Time is soon up, shall we see if there is anything else interesting in store for us?" Aglaia said and gestured for Saury to lead the way yet again.
she had been lucky once to find a shiny illumise in a contest like this, and while she probably had thrown a chance of a placing on the contest out of the window by that, she had been quite excited by the encounter.
Saury looked around but couldn't see or hear any bugs scurrying around nearby, he didn't like what the trees had hidden so he decide to turn the back on them and head into the open field while making a lot of noise to that the only pokemon they would meet, was ones who knew they were coming and hadn't run off before hand.

Volbeat might not know the answer nor being able to ask it out loud for Aglaia, but he would get his answer soon enough.
Aglaia believed all the pokemon in here were aware of the contest and that they were all in on it, it hadn't crossed her mind that some pokemon just tried to live their daily lives when the contest came crashing in and made a mess of it all.
"I think we have what we need Saury, get it out of the way with a Tackle," she ordered lightly, believing that all bugs that appeared hoped for a fight.
Saury sighed and apologized to the volbeat as he ran forward to do as ordered.

Used Double Team! Suary [Overgrow]: Normal ... Used Tackle! Volbeat huffed, giving the ivysaur an understanding nod as the battle commenced. He tried to toughen up, steel himself for the oncoming attack while he took time to think about what he should do. The tackle was much rougher than he expected though, so that made his own choice pretty simple: try not to get hit again. After a short tumble backward from impact the bug type set to making copies of himself in hopes of confusing Suary as to which was the real volbeat.

Aglaia frowned when more volbeats mysteriously appeared, she knew a double team when she saw one. That could be tricky in the long run and she wanted to end this encounter fast to make sure it was over before time ran out. She wasn't sure what they officials would do then, come in and break up the battle? Or did the wild pokemon know so much about the contest, that they would just run off when the bell sounded?
"Try spread a leech seed all around to trap it, and follow up with a tackle," Aglaia ordered and Saury did as she said.
The seeds might not be as good to keep the volbeat in place, but if they connected with it they would at least drain it for energy slowly.

The bed of seeds spread about didn't seem to contact the real volbeat as they scattered about, though as that did significantly decrease the number of possible targets for Saury to choose from Volbeat decided its safest course of action was to set up more. Soon the ivysaur was surrounded by the obnoxious buzz of the bee pokémon. He attempted to tackle one that sounded the loudest, but it turned out to be an illusion. A swirl of chaotic energy entrapped him then, making his mind fuzzy and the situation even more confusing than it already was.
