Aglaia was alone to theBug catching contest this time, as Dorthea had had other plans. It was fine with Aglaia, they weren't walking around here together anyway and she had done alright on her own the last times she had been here. To be certain that things was going fine today as well, she had brought her most trained pokemon, Saury. She hadn't used him much lately as she had had plenty of other pokemon that needed her attention and she was looking forward to spent a day with him. She smiled at the thought, she had never believed she would want to spent time alone with a pokemon.
Saury was in a bit different opinion, he knew today was going to be full of battles and he wasn't thrilled about that. It was what Aglaia had decided and he trotted obediently after her as they ventured into the park and watched the others contestants split up and search for their targets.
"There aren't many participants this time, weren't there more last time?" Aglaia asked and Saury just shrugged, he hadn't thought about it and he couldn't really voice his thoughts to her. "Where do you think we should start looking?" Aglaia then asked and gestured encouragingly for the ivysaur to make the decision. she had found he had made good choices when it came to that in the past.
Saury looked uncomfortable around, torn between helping out his trainer has he was supposed to, or try avoiding the battles and finding the place with fewest pokemon. He looked around with a sigh, the best spot for avoiding battles would probably be right where they were and he doubted Aglaia would accept standing still until the time ran out. He chose a bush nearby and trotted towards it, having no idea if anything was hiding in it or not. Aglaia followed him eagerly. What had he found this time?

It had been resisting its urge to sing its cricket song in the hopes all the trainers would move by. However, it's luck wasn't so good it seemed.

Saury wasn't sure if he was relieved or annoyed that he found a target this fast, but he sent the kricketot an apologetic look. It was clear it had tried to avoid being found and he promised himself to try stay in the open and try find pokemon that might be looking for a confrontation instead of this. "Well done Saury, but not so interesting. Please chase it away," Aglaia said not noticing the scared look the bug had.
"I'm going to send leaves at you, just run when you find it fit. I'll try be gentle," Saury promised and made sure it was ready before he send the first batch of leaves flying towards it, quickly followed by another.

Ivysaur gained 700 XP! The kricketot didn't have to be told twice. With eyes sparkling and a grateful nod the bug pokémon hopped back a little and waited for the right cue. Saury's leaves lifted and it was off. The razor leaves whipped by, some nicking the waddling cricket. As it reached the next bush line it stopped as if cornered, waiting for the second volley where it would take a couple small hits and feint backwards into the bushes where it could safely escape.

"Well done Saury!" Aglaai exclaimed and the ivysaur felt pretty pleased himself. He was glad that he had been able to cut the battle short and that he had managed to keep the damage to a minimum. "Let's see what else we can find, shall we?" Aglaia sugested and Saury nodded. He turned around promptly and sat the course towards a clearing, staying away from the biggest clumbs of grass. He might be forced to battle in here, but the least he could do was to spare the bugs who just wanted to hide.

Saury and Aglaia stopped surprised when the paras appeared although they probably shouldn't have. they were looking for the bug types after all and they were swarming all over the place. Aglaia frowned thoughtfully, paras was common and wouldn't give many points she guessed, and she didn't think she was going to use it either. The only thing that made her hesitate was that it looked big and she feared it would take a long time to end the battle. "Be ready Saury," she said as she made a decision to make a try. Then she looped a Sport ball at the mushroom pokemon.

The Paras didn't even have a chance to run or fight as the Sportball flew to the mushroom Pokemon. A little welp was heard of a protest of being caught as the ball touched the Pokemon. But it went inside and fought the not to be captured by this tiny piece of machinery and this trainer but...

Aglaia looked surprised when the bull confirmed the capture. "That was easy," She commented and wondered if it meant that the paras hadn't been as strong as she had feared. Saury had become really strong after evoling but he was still a grass type and at a disadvantage to the bug types that swarmed here. Speaking of the ivysaur, he narrowed his eyes at a tree and tilted his head a bit. Something was there and it sounded like it came closer. As the well trained starter he was, he trotted forward and placed himself between his trainer and whatever was coming. (ooc: Shouldn't the paras be lvl 18? and I think the moves are taken from the let's go game? According to USUM it shouldn't learn growth before level 33 I also think Saury is missing exp from "winning")

"This looks interesting," Aglaia said as the scyther appeared and winced when the scyther ran its scythes against each other. What a horrible sound. "And tricky it seems," Aglaia murmured and guessed that it would be hard to capture this one without damaging it along the way. "Alright Saury, Sleep Powder!" Aglaia ordered and hoped they would be lucky.
Saury didn't look pleased and feared he was in for a tough round but he did as his trainer ordered and filled the air with spores, forcing Aglaia to cover her moth and back away.

They were not lucky. Aglaia stifled a sigh as the scyther turned out to be a challenge already from the first go, it would be a long battle if they couldn't even hit it in the first round. "Try again Saury, Sleep Powder," Aglaia said and didn't sound encouraging at all.
Saury staggered when the scyther hit him but it wasn't as bad as he had feared. He didn't mind Aglaia's lack of confidence or encouragements, this was just a thing that needed to be done with. This time he waited until the scyther was closer to him in the hope the spores would reach their mark.

Used Focus Energy! Saury [Overgrow]: Normal ... Used Sleep Powder! Missed The mantis skipped backwards so as to keep an eye on the leafy pokémon, catching that watchful gaze of its own movements. Wary of just how attentive Saury was being the bug didn't make a move back toward him. It hunkered down into a defensive position. An annoying turn of events for sure. With the only option being a break of the staring contest Saury released his spores in a more compact cone in the hopes the burst of initial speed would catch the mantis off-guard, though it did sacrifice a wider spread. Sadly the scyther was ready for it and dodged to the side. With a screech it pumped itself up, its green shell turning a hue of red for a moment.

Aglaia groaned when Saury missed again, she needed to think out of the box but how to do that when the scyther probably could hear and understand everything she said? It wasn't like she had trained such things with her pokemon. She saw one way and hoped it would work or else the time would be up before she even got a chance to throw a park ball at the pokemon.
Aglaia crouched beside Saury. "I'll order a Tackle but I want you to use Sleep Powder in the last second, got it?" Aglaia murmured to Saury who flinched. He didn't like the thought of tricking his opponent, it felt like cheating, but he had to do as she told him so he nodded reluctantly. "Alright Saury, you can do this. Tackle!" Aglaia ordered and Saury ran forward like he was planning to do just that. He'd stop when he got close to Scyther and instead released another spray of spores, if it continued at this rate he'd soon run dry.
(ooc: Saury uses Sleep Powder)
