ZAIDEN KABILA Aspiring Champion
Time had no value if you weren’t rushing to the next part of your life. Zaiden studied his opponent cautiously, his eyes flickering from the yellow cocoon, down to his young pinniped, and then over to the bright orange flame-tailed lizard at his side. Where would this journey of theirs take them? He’d spent so much time getting to know his new companions and living in the moment, that Zaiden hadn’t considered why he had started his journey to become a Pokemon trainer as much. It seemed that the further they traveled down this long path, the further they still had to go. Would dad have made it past the first Gym by now? Curiosity slowly crept into the mix.
Zaiden had to focus on the battle, though. A wandering mind is bound to be trouble. A lecture he wouldn’t easily forget. Zaiden stuffed his hands into the rough pockets of his thick denim jeans and watched in marvel at how well the Kakuna managed to take the hit. There was a thought that seemed to stir in his head, aided by Kogasu’s short arms eagerly tugging at the leg of his pants. Should I release another Pokemon to bring down his defenses? I could always switch back, I suppose… He shoved the notion away.
Uroko needed the guidance. Zaiden placed two fingers up to his mouth in a curved fashion to create a whistling sound. The furry white pinniped turned his head around with a dumbfounded, “Seel?” Zaiden nodded his head, pointing dramatically to the top of his scalp and motioning it in a mimicked fashion of a headbutt. The odd little fella teetered back and forth on his finned feet in a rocking motion and turned back around easily so. They were in it for the long haul. At least for the time being, Uroko would keep up the assault until Zaiden’s mind had been made up about the switcharoo between his party members.
“Actions speak louder than words.” Zaiden’s voice finally broke through the air, chopping up the otherwise constant silence he had been serving to the bug catcher. It wasn’t his intention to create the divide between an otherwise amicable trainer. Rather, a battle didn’t seem to warrant words that weren’t followed by some sort of useful action plan. It probably didn’t seem like Zaiden had much of a plan in the midst of things. Truth be told, he really didn’t – with his only course of action being to repetitively chip away at the health of the Kakuna.
If this waged on too long, or if the yellow cocooned statue found the will to move in a manner that was conducive for striking, then the mousy-brown haired lad would reconsider his original notion of switching between his team-mates. A hand reflexively reached to Baunsu’s Pokeball and gently caressed the miniaturized red-and-white sphere that was attached to his belt loop. Not yet. It wasn’t quite time to consider switching between his team, especially as this bug and his trainer afforded them a much needed practice battle session for his baby Pokemon.
Uroko galloped forward once more in his odd waddle of a gait. The young pinniped would lower his head once more, with his pointed horn directed at the Kakuna and its stiffened hide. The babbling baby-talk of the Pokemon seemed to gurgle random syllables and sounds, though most of it was spoken at a near-whisper and easy to miss. No matter what anyone else thought, Uroko found the whole experience fun and exciting. The best game he could have imagined!

Bug Catcher Wade had thought a lot about strategy which he didn't have many options of with his pokemon's limited move pools, especially since he had often heard that his bug types would be in trouble. The experienced trainers always said that you needed a good strategy and that it could help you through the toughest of battles, so that was what Wade had done. To be honest he had thought it would be harder to come up with some battle plan than it had been, but since winning meant keeping your pokemon from fainting and Kakuna had a move that could do a bit of extra damage if he was lucky, it was pretty obvious to him what he should do. The tricky question was when to do what, this was new to him and he wasn't sure when was the right time. At the moment Wade felt pretty confident about him doing the right thing, Kakuna was doing great in this battle! "Yeah! That's right," he cheerfully agreed with Zaiden as he thought that Kakuna really showed them all! "Isn't he great?!" The bug catcher then asked his opponent and was beaming at his cocoon, which made no movement that showed it acknowledge it or cared. "Alright, I think you don't need to get any tougher, so let's go for a Poison Sting!" Wade continued eagerly not put off at all by the lack of response he got from his own pokemon. Uroko was already making his way in his strange gait across the muddy ground. The kakuna didn't move but a then a single tiny needle flew from where it mouth probably was and straight at the young seel who didn't seem to notice it. He would wince when the needle found its target and buried into his soft skin but it wasn't too bad, he energetic movements would help spread the poison though and he would soon enough feel the effects of it. He slammed his horn into the hard shell of the kakuna, it wobbled a bit in place but made no show of it feeling it. ZAIDEN KABILA Aspiring Champion
Zaiden studied his gangly galloping aquatic Pokemon as it waddled-ran across the watery flooded ground. What was once dirt was now mud, and the long strands of tall green grasses now leaned over in an almost wilted pattern. They were just heavy with water now and would eventually brighten and bounce back easily so. Zaiden’s phone buzzed and vibrated in his pants. He ignored it for a second, and instead focused on the furry white pinniped that ‘arrff arrfff arrff’ in broken syllables of “Seel seeell seeeeelll.” Excitement, full of vast wonder and happiness.
The golden-yellow hardened cocoon conceptualized a small white pointed needle that shot from the void between what seemed similar to a ‘neck’ and a ‘chin’ – most likely an area where a mouth would have been – and it struck his seal, who toppled over into the murky muddy pool of ground water. It yelped out loudly, a pained sound. The wail conveyed the emotions of betrayal and regret. Uroko had clearly thought of the whole battle as a game, and the pricked needle stuffed with poison knocked the bitter reality of the fight into the Seel’s head.
Kogasu yanked impatiently on the rough dark blue jeans of Zaiden’s pants. She used her other hand to wave and point towards Uroko as she hopped about on the ground. There were moments where the flame-tipped tail of the scaly orange lizard almost dipped too close to the muddy waters on the ground. “Charmander CHAR CHAR! MANDDERRR!” She complained. Kogasu challenged Zaiden’s lack of skills and seemed to demand that he wisen up and recall the baby Seel. Whatever she wanted to tell him, however, seemed lost on the lad.
Zaiden shrugged his backpack off his back and pulled it around in front. The beige teenager quickly pulled the zipper on the backpack to unzip and open his bag, and Zaiden stuffed both of his hands inside of the backpack as he shuffled through the contents inside of his bag. After some time, the mousy brown-haired lad would pull out a small yellow cannister with a spray nozzle on top and rush over to spray it generously over Uroko’s body. The young baby Pokemon shook and shivered from the poison that coursed in his body but began to feel much better within minutes as the medicine worked its magic.
Zaiden would jog back off the battlefield and turn around to point towards the yellow cocoon with a snap of his fingers. Uroko turned his head and tilted it slightly with a confused, yet eager stare. Then Zaiden pointed to his head and lowered it down to point the crown of his head towards the other trainer. He would give a gestured ‘air shove’ with his head, trying to imitate a headbutt. Uroko began to clap his flippers together once more, before he would turn and start to waddle-run towards his opponent, skidding across the watery ground. He would lower his horned head down once more, aiming the pointed tip at his opponent as he aimed to come crashing into their opponent.
Zaiden uses 1 Antidote [Self-Updated -1]. Then Uroko will use Headbutt.

Wade had not thought about bringing any Antidotes himself but he had to admit it was a very useful idea. " That is a really good idea to use an Antidote like that, I need to remember to bring some just in case in my next battle." As he watched Uroko recover from the poison the bug catcher remembered that if a trainer used a healing item during battle the other trainer would get a free move and he acted quite quickly to take advantage of the situation. " Kakuna use Poison Sting again, let's see if we cannot get lucky by poisoning that Seel again." Mere seconds later another poison tipped needle flew from Kakuna's mouth towards Uroko scoring a direct hit on his right flipper as the Seel slid towards Kakuna. As Uroko recovered from being pricked by the small needle and continued to slide towards Kakuna Wade had just enough time to order another attack. " Kakuna quickly use another Poison Sting, we didn;t get lucky last time but you never know." Yet another needle flew out of the bug types mouth this time hitting Oroko right in the forehead just seconds before the Seel scored a direct hit with Headbutt. The collision knocked Kakuna back a few feet however it's shell had hardened to such a degree that it suffered almost no damage. Even Wade was impressed by the endurance the bug showed as he offered phrase to the bug. " Great job Kakuna, your shell is so useful in many ways, our challenger sure is tough and that Headbutt would normally be dangerous but you are doing great out there." As Wade wondered what Zaiden would try next he could not help but notice Uroko was starting to breathe a bit heavier than usual and could not help but to feel a little cocky thinking he was close to defeating the Seel. " Kakuna I think we are close, give it all you have in this next round." He cheered as the bug remained just as lifeless as ever waiting to strike again. ZAIDEN KABILA Aspiring Champion
The small pinniped struggled with labored breaths. Uroko’s head bobbled a bit up and down, like one of the toys with the bouncing enlarged heads, as he wheezed through heavy exhales and gasping inhales. Uroko turned its head around and stared up at the mousy-brown haired lad with a pained and worried expression. Soft whimpers escaped his lips as he complained. It appeared reality was slowly starting to burrow in underneath Uroko’s thick scalp. Already, the young pinniped began to waddle over to the teenager, obviously trying to retreat from the battle as the pain from the golden poison cocoon burrowed underneath the water type’s thick hide.
Kogasu waved her thick stubby arms dramatically at her side. “CHA MAN DER! She jumped about. The scaly orange lizard’s bright yellow-and-red flame at the tip of her tail intensified. Anger fueled her fire, making the flames larger than normal. “MANDER CHAR! CHARMAN! MANDER!” Her short fuse caused her to snap at her trainer. Zaiden’s dark chocolate brown eyes stared down at the short bipedal fire type as he scratched the back of his head. What was her deal? Was she so worried about her companion? She seemed downright angry at Zaiden. Either she’s angry at how hurt Uroko is… He glanced over to the retreating baby Pokemon.
Zaiden’s hand paused tentatively on the backpack as he watched Kogasu’s tail bounce from side to side. The way she approached him, and the brightness of her flamed tail, caused the young lad to take a quick step backwards. He opened his lips, parting them to speak, though no syllables would grace the air. She’s already so strong….Is she seriously upset she’s not battling? That’s not it, right?! He had to wonder. Still…did his dad or his mom just try to call him? That still had to wait. Now the situation seemed stickier than usual when he was hoping that the Antidote would have made things better. Perhaps he underestimated his opponents? UGH! He tilted his head forward dramatically, as his face seemed to fall – exasperated.
Should he pull out the Potion and use it to give Uroko an advantage and prolong the battle? Or, should he recall the Pokemon and summon someone else out onto the field? “Uroko -?!” Kogasu began pushing and prodding Zaiden with her stubby little arms. She jumped up and pulled at the legs of his dark denim jeans. Zaiden had to hold onto one side of his clothes as she tugged with all of her strength and tried to climb up his leg to his belt. One, two, three quick jumping motions and Kogasu would pull off another – random Pokeball.
The miniature form of the red-and-white spherical ball fell to the ground and rolled across the wet dirt ground. Kogasu rushed forward before Zaiden had the chance to react. With a quick press of the white button with her clawed paw, and the red-and-white Pokeball would double in size and open up to summon another Pokemon with a bright red beam of light. “CHARMANDER! CHAR CHAR CHAR! CHARMANDER! CHAR!” She yelled and bickered at Zaiden, still hitting and kicking at his leg with her paws. He could tell she wasn’t trying to hit him too hard – she just seemed enraged and upset by his actions.
Was I really that bad? He had to wander as he watched the largely immobile yellow cocoon. “Uhh, sorry about this!” He called out to his battling partner, and stared down at the newly formed furry brown tanuki with a white bullseye on its stomach and large brown rabbit-like ears. “Uh, return? Uroko? Go, uh…Baunsu?” Zaiden’s voice questioned himself as he spoke. Everything seemed to surreal. Since when did Pokemon call the shots? Nothing in his books back home prepared him for this. Could he just…. override Kogasu like her words meant nothing?
Zaiden glanced at Uroko nervously. It probably wouldn’t be a good idea if he did that, though… Baunsu glanced around nervously. When he turned his attention on Zaiden, the young teen would raise one arm up in the air dramatically to mimic a scratching motion. Baunsu nodded. Boy, was this lad an odd one! But it got the point across – Zaiden wanted Baunsu to use his sharp claws to do as much damage as possible!
OOC: Recalling Uroko, sending out Baunsu. Then using Scratch.

As Zaiden swapped out Uroko for Baunsu Wade could not deny he was a little disappointed as Kakuna had worked so hard and gotten so close to winning but as the rules allowed a trainer to swap at any time after a round concluded he could not complain too much. As doing so meant he would get a free turn he had no doubt that he should try and poison another of Zaiden's Pokemon to give himself an even bigger upper hand. " Aw well Kakuna, looks like you might need to work a little harder to get a win but we can still take advantage of this free turn, use Poison Sting again." A moment later another poison tipped needle sped towards Baunsu hitting him right in the belly. Wade's luck came into play again as enough of the poison entered Baunsu's body to cause him to suffer from the poison affliction and lost a small amount of additional health before the next round even began. With another round beginning and his free turn used up Wade wasted no time in taking advantage of his amazing luck by staying on the offensive. " Kakuna you are amazing, your poison is quite potent today with another one of our opponents feeling its effects, lets keep up the pressure with another Poison Sting." Wade said as he grew more excited by the second. Kakuna fired yet another needle this time hitting Baunsu in the foot sapping even more health from the Sentret before he was finally able to get off an attack of his own. As he scratched the Kakuna with all his might the bug barely felt a thing as its incredibly tough shell made it hard for even sharp claws to cause much harm. " Kakuna you are still doing great, at this rate I don't think making your shell any harder will be of much use but at least we have that option." As Wade continued to praise Kakuna the bug just stood by motionless waiting for another round not ready to hold back in the slightest. ZAIDEN KABILA Aspiring Champion
Zaiden’s usually friendly chocolate brown gaze seemed heavier as he stared at his partner Pokemon in the midst of the fray. Kogasu stood just steps away, waddling over to the husk of the red-and-white Pokeball that she had used to release the furry brown tanuki with striped bands of darker brown fur. Still, the flame-tailed reptilian Pokemon studied the contraption wondrously, almost as if she hadn’t been raised around them her whole life and hadn’t just spent the last two seasons with the young lad, watching him use these devices to capture the rest of their team, and at times recall her inside of her own Pokeball. Perhaps the small orange lizard was merely reflecting on her choices, or wondering how the trainers managed to accurately choose the next Pokemon they sent into battle with ease?
Regardless, Zaiden’s gaze fell squarely on his timid Sentret, whose body remained stiff and rigid up against such a formidable opponent. First the death birds with their sharp beaks that seemed to peck endlessly, or chase them about in hot pursuit? And now, this strange immobile creature that would instead fire sharp, pointy projectiles through the air at him? Baunsu already wanted to tap out. A nervous expression turned around to gaze back up to Zaiden’s eyes, causing the young lad to sigh heavily. The damp, wet environment at least aided against the slowly increasing temperatures of the approaching summer months, though his beige complexion usually toned up into a deep tan under the summer sun. The Sentret shivered and chattered noisily, an obvious complaint and plea for the end.
Baunsu lowered himself down on all fours and seemed ready to dart off through the tall grasses to disappear back at Zaiden’s side. The boy raised one solitary hand up and snapped his fingers as he pointed towards the pointy-looking yellow cocoon with its sharp projectiles. As he released his hands to allow all his fingers to stretch out, Zaiden would simply wave towards the battle as if to instruct Baunsu to redirect his movement towards his opponent instead of trying to run away from the fight. Baunsu chattered louder, grumbling audibly as he verbally disagreed with his trainer. He turned back around with a shrug and darted back to the Kakuna with his paws outstretched to rip and tear into the defensive hide of the other Pokemon.
“S’ tough.” Zaiden stumbled upon his words but gestured towards the Bug Catcher’s partner Pokemon. He wasn’t good with words and would often dry up like a desert when the floods of conversation started to pour out from others. Still, the young teenager had to give this kid credit. Wade really knew how to raise his Pokemon and prepared for the ‘long haul’ when it came to battling. Perhaps, there was something that Zaiden could learn from this? A glance at his team, and even he had to admit he looked noticeably underprepared. Would he even win his first GYM battle if he couldn’t get it together?
OOC: Baunsu used Scratch.

Though it may have only been a single word, the validation of Kakuna's greatness from his opponent made Wade's smile spread right off his face. "You bet!" he chuckled lightly, rather enjoying himself. It was quite the turn from the norm. Bug Catcher's didn't have the best reputation for being tough, aside from Bugsy of course. A role model that even Wade couldn't resist trying to mimic. Though, the encyclopedic knowledge would be something he worked on later. As Baunsu made yet another charge toward the cocoon Wade called for another poison sting. Was that the only move he knew? Aside from harden of course. Once again a tiny spike of poison shot out at the sentret, pricking the scout pokémon in the side as he continued his approach. There was a swell of nausea but Baunsu stayed true. At the very least the yellow shelled pokémon was an easy target; hard to miss something that didn't really move. But after the solid swipe of claws Zaiden's sentret was overwhelmed with a pulse of poison. He was looking very sickly at this point. "Kakuna's in top shape today! Maybe all this moisture is helping him out," the young boy commented as he bounced in place. It seemed Zaiden's quiet demeanor didn't bother the bug specialist much. He could talk for the both of them. "It takes some setup but implemented correctly my bug's strategy can make them the best juggernauts!" He thrust his net toward the sky, stomping a sandal onto the soggy path causing a muddy splash of which he near immediately regretted. The cold slop splattering against his foot caused him to recoil. ZAIDEN KABILA Aspiring Champion
The battle wasn’t going as planned. Zaiden tensed up and he shoved his hands into the pockets of his dark denim jeans. The bipedal flame-tailed fire Pokemon stopped the mindless curious searching and testing of Baunsu’s Pokeball and Kogasu dropped the husk to the ground. She titled her head and waddled over to her trainer. “Charmander charmander!” Concern echoed in her alarmed voice as the scaly orange lizard began to pull and tug on the leggings of her trainer’s pants. Zaiden glanced down before reaching down and petting her. “Char char? Chaar…mander?”
Zaiden lifted his arms up then and began to give three slow, loud, and deliberate claps. This caused the the tanuki’s large dark brown ears to shoot straight up. They twitched and turned this way and that as they absorbed every sound around them. For a moment, Baunsu listened to the shuffling of blades of grass far off in the distance as unknown wild Pokemon ran through the undergrowth of the route’s wild flora. The sounds of avian birds fluttering too far above to be bothered by those on the ground also caught his attention. But only one sound – the sound of his trainer’s hands slowly clapping together to catch his attention – stood out above the rest of the sounds.
“Cha….Char mander!” Kogasu chattered away in a sort of ‘oh!’ expression. She was puzzled for a second, but watching the way Baunsu heaved with each breath and fought to remain standing, she put the two-and-two together. Was Zaiden growing as a trainer, or did he simply have a moment of clarity? The furry round Sentret beat his long, thick bushy tail against the ground as he turned around to stare at Zaiden curiously. The young boy snapped his fingers and pointed down to the ground beside him. As Baunsu ran over to his side, Zaiden would yank off another Pokeball and toss it up into the air with a press of a button.
A large beam or red light shot out in a long thin line. At the end of the beam, the red light transformed into a large red blob. The blob of light shifted into two short twig-like legs with sharp clawed talons on their toes, and short bright gold wings. A mane of golden feathers and very sharp, piercing eyes with a short, sharp beak would form for the face. Within seconds, a shiny Spearow stood in the wake. Hageshii scratched at the ground, rose his wings up at either sides of his body, and cawed loudly into the air. “SPEAR ROW!” A battle cry. Without word or warning, the brave bird would rush towards its opponent aiming to attack the yellow cocoon furiously with its beak.
The other trainer caught Zaiden’s attention for a second. He had mentioned the wet environment they were currently trapped in, which made Zaiden think back to Kogasu’s skittish nature towards the puddles of water. She seemed ok now, though. Did something as simple as a Pokeball distract her from the fears of the flames of her tail getting wet? The more time he spent around his Pokemon, the more he learned and the more he realized he didn’t fully know them at all. They were special – unique – and entertaining to watch how they reacted to the world around them. “Kogasu doesn’t like it much.” He spoke up, carrying on the conversation a bit more. Conversations tended to stagnate with Zaiden, as they felt like a chore most of the time. He would kind of shrugged towards the puddles on the ground all around them, if Wade didn’t understand what he was referring to at first.
OOC: Switching out Baunsu for Hageshii. Then, Hageshii uses Fury Attack.

Even though Zaiden's pokemon continued their shenanigans Wade manged to keep focused on his own pokemon and the battle, and he was quite proud about that too. This was how he was going to win his battles, putting down an awesome strategy and then make sure to follow it and pull it off. He hadn't done that much earlier but this battle with Zaiden whose pokemon clearly struggled had learned him a lot, you couldn't just battle ordering random attacks, especially not if you only had bugs. "You are doing great Kakuna, he will soon be out of pokemon to switch to and then your poison will take care of the rest!" Wade cheered and got no response from his pokemon as usual. Wade clearly didn't think that Zaiden had any plans on using the fire type, which loudly had made her present known. "Hurry Kakuna, take advantage of surprise and hit it as soon as it comes out!" Wade urged as Zaiden threw in another pokeball. Perhaps this one would get poisoned as well? Perhaps he did dare hope today would be the day one of his pokemon would evolve? Wade's cheerful expression faded when the golden spearow lunged at his cocoon, barely noticing the needles that stuck in his feathers. A swift peck and Kakuna dropped to the side, there was no difference in its emotion but Wade's disappointed expression made it clear it had fainted. The boy pouted as he recalled his cocoon, things suddenly had turned against him after having looked so bright. There was no hesitation though and he plucked another pokeball and with a flick of his wrist sent it flying, revealing a cocoon similar to his first, this was just green instead. Wade smiled humorlessly when Zaiden commented that Kagasu didn't like the water around, he shrugged. "My pokemon doesn't like that much," he answered with a gesture towards Hageshii, and then he looked determined. He had almost taken out two of Zaiden's pokemon with just one, he still had a chance. The bugcatcher looked closer at the spearow, there was something off with it, wasn't it. "It.. it does look a bit different, doesn't it?" He asked Zaiden at last. Hageshii grows 1 level to [lvl 13] His HP will be 34/37 if he continuesBaunsu helped and grew 1 level to [lvl 7] He learns Quick Attack! Uroko learned something and grows 1 level to [lvl 5] Wade is not ready to throw in the towel and sends in Metapod [lvl 7] to battle! Choose a pokemon.

ZAIDEN KABILA Aspiring Champion
Wade’s hardened yellow Kakuna met Hageshii’s furious attacks with an assault of sharp barbed needles. They scored the bird, who largely pushed through them without so much as batting a wing, all the while the bird pecked at the yellow cocoon mercilessly. “Spearow! Spear! Row, spear!” They needed Hageshii, the shiny variant colored sparrow rationalized as it was summoned from its Pokeball. It wad for this reason that the golden feathered avian remained ever vigilant, whether he roamed in the airs above and free or remained quietly contained within his Pokeball. They would always need him. Their savior. Their protector. Their leader.
The Kakuna fell over in a fainted heap so easily tat it confused the brave bird. Hageshii lifted itself up onn of the ground and cawed out loudly in alarm. Was this some sort of trickery? Hageshii’s eyes darted erratically as he fluttered back and forth and mentally searched for answers. Kogasu rushed out and ran underneath Hageshii. The fire salamander leaped up and scrabbled with her paws in the air, trying to grab her friend. “Charmander! Char char! Charmander mander! Charrr!” She consoled and reassured Hageshii. Hageshii flew over and landed on Zaiden’s shoulders, still chirping angrily. “Spearr…rowww. Spear…” What was the point in summoning him for such an easy target?
Baunsu leaped up and start chattering away noisily at Zaiden’s side. Though the poisons still seemed to hurt the poor furry brown tanuki, he was able to manage his health much more easily sitting on the sidelines. He tried to explain how it wasn’t so easy for Hageshii to pass judgement on what was easy and what was tough. But they bickered, Hageshii flapping wildly while perched on Zaiden’s shoulders while Baunsu yanked and tugged at Zaiden’s pants legs. “I’m still….they’re uhh. Still learning to work together.” He explained with a shrug towards his angry bird and nosy tanuki. Zaiden reached one of his hands up to soothe and quell his bird while he slowly and carefully kneeled down to pet Baunsu with the other hand. 'There there guys… it’s alright. It’s alright. We’re a team, remember?' Zaiden thought as he calmed his Pokemon down some.
Hageshii huffed and began preening his feathers with his short pointy beak. Zaiden then turned to Uroko and pointed towards Wade and his new Pokemon. The furry white Seel tilted his head as he stared up at Zaiden’s with curiosity. He murmured soft, short syllables. “Seel..ee…see?” Then, slowly, it clicked together. The flipper-footed aquatic seal waddled over in a sort of jump-scoot fashion. As it neared the green cocoon, it would rear up to clap it’s thick flipper-feet together and gush out excited yet nervous syllables. “Seel seel.” A star was born again, meant to play the role of the main character once more! Uroko let out a loud piercing cry as he growled at his opponent. He wanted to play things safe this time and have the upperhand. Things would be different. He wouldn’t be chased off of his stage quite so easily this time.
“Bug types are weak against fire types.” Zaiden reasoned logically as Wade explained how his Pokemon didn’t seem to like Kogasu all that much. His words came off in a quick, monotoned voice as he stated it matter-of-factly. ‘I’ve got a Wurmple that’s taken to Kogasu, though,’ Zaiden thought silently to himself, carrying on an invisible part of the conversation. ‘Sometimes nurture is stronger than nature.’

Though Wade was down to his final Pokemon he was still quite confident in his Metapod. The Cocoon Pokemon could not poison any of Zaiden's Pokemon unlike Kakuna but it still had a few options to try and counter whatever Zaiden tried. Wade was caught off guard by Zaiden's next Pokemon as Uroko was still pretty roughed up after facing his Kakuna and lower leveled than his Metapod as well. " Oh wow, I didn't think you would use your Seel again. This should be really interesting. At least unlike a fire type a water type doesn't have a type advantage." The Bug Catcher had a tough choice to make as Metapod could try and cause damage to the already tired Uroko or use a turn to build up Metapod's defense. It was very tempting to try the aggressive option but being his last Pokemon he needed Metapod to have as much defense as possible and so his choice had to be clear. " Metapod as much as I wish Tackle were a good option here I think your Harden is the best option to start things off." He ordered as the bug started to build up it's shells thickness in an effort to minimize any incoming damage. The plan worked but Uroko's Growl lowered the Metapod's already abysmal attack making even a Magikarp look tough by comparison. " That round sure could have gone better for us. We did succeed in increasing our defense but that Growl really hurt our chances of doming much with your Tackle Metapod." The bug just stood by motionless as it looked over at the young Seel. The bug was determined to still find a way to knock out at least one of Zaiden's Pokemon no matter how tough that challenge would be. ZAIDEN KABILA Aspiring Champion
Zaiden’s chocolate brown eyes widened in a happy surprise. He didn’t originally plan for the Bug Catcher’s reaction as he called back out his baby Pokemon. Zaiden dropped his eyes down to study the small furry pinniped as it swaggered back and forth on it’s flippers and occasionally reared up to clap its flippered feet together. The soft yellow, short bulldog snout with sharp bottom fangs that protruded from its bottom jaws opened and closed repeatedly as it gargled out cute syllables. “Seel eel eee. See eeee eee eel.” Had the trainers been privy enough to understand Poketalk, it would have still sounded as incoherent as listening to a 2 month of baby going and gaaing random syllables.
Uroko was clearly still learning many things. Occasionally, simple words and key phrases passed through. “Eel.” “Battle,” and “See” “Play,” were among some of Uroko’s favorite sounds. Zaiden nodded enthusiastically as he knelt down and tended to the two feuding Pokemon. He used one free hand to stroke his long fingers through Baunsu’s soft brown fur, and another rand to reach up and gently scratch Hageshii underneath his feathered head just past the sharp beak. “Uroko hatched in the middle of a Pidgey battle not long ago.” Zaiden stated with a shrug towards his winter-loving pinniped. A spring baby born with the heart and soul of winter itself.
Uroko rocked his head back and forth a few times as he tested his stance. Once the young white Seel had settled on the perfect posture, he would rush towards the camouflaged green cocoon with his horn pointed directly at the other Pokemon. Uroko was hoping to use the pointed tip of his horn to jab directly into the hard flesh of the Metapod’s cocoon, and maybe even fillet it open to cause some serious damage. Zaiden meant his explanation as a sort of insight as to why he wanted to level up and train Uroko, so that he could become a tough and strong as the rest of his team. However, he stopped his conversation shortly after the introduction of Uroko’s birth.
Kogasu held onto Baunsu from behind and chattered away to both Hageshii and Baunsu. “Charmander char. Char char mander char! Mander.” She tried to persuade the two Pokemon to realize their strengths together. They needed to focus on what they had in common, not on dividing themselves by their emotions. She puffed out hot flames that shot just past them. Although the embers were way too tiny to do any damage, and most of them dissipated into the air as soon as they were released, it was enough to cause Zaiden to jump. Hageshii chirped loudly in a cackle, laughing at Kogasu’s reaction. He used one feathered wing to point from Kogasu to Zaiden. “Spearow Spear! Rowww Spearow!” He warned the flame-tailed lizard to be more careful.
Zaiden immediately used a hand to pick Hageshi off his shoulders. Hageshii flapped wildly, irritated, as Zaiden then placed the brave bird on the ground beside him. Kogasu started to growl and yelp angrily as Zaiden gently placed his hands underneath her arms and lifted her off the ground. She struggled, kicking her arms and legs wildly as she tried to hop out of his grasp. Jeez. What else could go wrong with his team? Perhaps he needed to keep them up in their Pokeball between battles, instead? “How long?” He gestured with a strong nod towards the green cocoon. A shortened question to ask how long Wade had known Metapod. However, he was finding the conversation just a tad stifling, especially between trying to control his Pokemon.

"Did the pidgey try eat the egg then?" Wade asked curious as he wondered what lay behind that comment, "birds aren't out favorites either," he added and glanced at Hageshii which still looked a bit strange to him. Zaiden hadn't answered his question before and right now he didn't feel like asking again. He watched it interested and seemed to have partly forgotten that he was in the midst of a battle and should order his pokemon around. Metapod remained motionless and just waited. As Uroko moved forward Wade jumped back into action, he already knew what he wanted to do for this round. "Alright Metapod, we almost won the last round sue to my taktic, so use Harden!" He called out confidently. The seel reached the cocoon and didn't find any flesh really to stick his horn into, only the tough shell that was shimmering slightly from the first harden. He jabbed it anyway and the metapod toppled backwards, and the bottom of it slammed into Uroko's jaw from below as it rolled over on its back. Wade paused and looked uncertain for a moment, he had a feeling Metapod hadn't had a chance to do what he had ordered. His cocoon wouldn't be able to tell him and just lay quietly where it had ended, and with a quick glance at Zaiden he made his way over to the green cocoon and put it upright again. Wade looked confused at Zaiden when he asked his short question. How long what? He asked and looked between Metapod and the other trainer. Wade could come up with a tons of different meanings behind that question, how long it had been a cocoon, how long until it could evolve, how long he had had it or perhaps how long it was now? He had no clue which of them Zaiden meant. ZAIDEN KABILA Aspiring Champion
The young bug catcher’s question was innocent enough, but it sent memories flooding back in teenage trainer’s mind. He remembered running underneath the canopy of trees, pushing his way through the biting cold and gusting winds as his feet pounded across the open terrain. His emotions were everywhere – aching with concern and worry, as well as fear and dread. He shuddered, recalling how the egg tumbled about on the ground and hatched into a startling white furred mammal. “Uhh, not exactly…” He commented.
I was bad trainer. I should have been a better trainer for Shiwa. Why did the Beautifly upset it so? He wondered, still pondering on the thought for a moment. The bright pinkish-red larvae acted as though the large, bright, and beautiful butterfly had hurt its feelings pretty deeply, or as though Shiwa had lost a battle against the Beautifly even though Zaiden never ordered the first strike. Uroko ran headfirst into his first battle, horn ready and raring to score the dull brown feathered avian with all the strength he had.
Even now, Uroko stood and faced off against his opponent with as much bravery as he had shown the Pidgey. Zaiden had honestly felt guilty about the first battle. So guilty, in fact, that he had tossed a Pokeball at the bird and captured only to trade it away for a Natu later on. I really hope Pidgey is doing better with its new family…. He thought as he self-reflected for a moment. Uroko lowered his horn against and rushed towards the green cocoon, ready to jab at the bug Pokemon with another headbutt. He skidded across the slippery terrain, using the open puddles of muddy water to push him forward.
“Pidgey stopped me…” He fought back the words as he considered their meaning. He had momentarily ignored Baunsu’s and Hageshii’s heated discussion. “Spearow Spear spearrr!” The feathered variant flapped and squawked from atop Zaiden’s small shoulders. “Sentret. Ret Tret! Sent!” Baunsu wheezed and coughed back angrily, violently disagreeing with the flying type. Poor Kogasu chattered away, waving her paws in both of their faces. She pushed and prodded Hageshii and Baunsu back, as she tried to calm them both down. “…from getting back my Wurmple…at first.” His gaze fell glumly to the ground for a second.
Though, Zaiden’s eyes would raise back up incredulously as Wade asked the beige teenager what he meant by his statement. He stammered, raising his hand up to scratch the back of his neck. He questioned even himself for a second, wondering if it was even worth asking. Wasn’t he just trying to keep the conversation going? Wasn’t it all just ‘small talk’ in the end? He was really bad at that… “Uhh…” He gulped and his gaze flickered from the bug catcher donned in his large brimmed straw hat, long white T-shirt, and short blue jeans, and back to his green Metapod. “Have you had…uhh…Metapod?” He stammered as he finished his question.
OOC: Uroko used Headbutt.
