Wade didn't notice Zaiden's shivering, nor did he think much about the other trainer's hesitation answering but his reluctant answer caught his interest. "Then what happened?" He asked right away but then got distracted by the pokemon who moved again. Phew it could be hard to concentrate both on battling and on talking with the other trainer, when he battled with his friends they usually just commented what was happening, and bragged about how great their own pokemon was. "It's so fast," Wade mumbled as Uroko waddled his way over the muddy ground, compared to Metapod everything was fast. Wade lightened up when an idea hit him, how could he have forgotten? "Metapod, hurry up and use String Shot!" The boy shouted eagerly, with his own pokemon being the fastest and the one with most defense then he was sure to win! When it came to moves that didn't require the cocoon moved anywhere it was actually quite fast in following them, and a white thread was spit out from inside its shell, and fell lightly over Uroko. They didn't hurt at all and at first the seel wouldn't take any notice of them, but then they began to fall down his sides and stick to his fur. Most places it wasn't a problem but the one that was stuck between his left flippers and his side forced him to make smaller movements, and then he had another string which had stuck under his chin and was irritating there when he thrust his head forward to hit the shell with his horn. This time Metapod just swayed back and forth from the impact but it remained upright. Wade was looking pleased with himself when he turned his attention back to Zaiden, just in time for the other boy to continue his sentence. It took a few moments for Wade to remember what they were talking about. "From what?" Wade interrupted and got distracted by the pokemon's squabbling, giving Zaiden time to finish his sentence. "Had you lost your Wurmple?" Wade asked with a frown and shuddered, he could imagine how horrible it was if a bird had snatched his bugs. It took Wade even more moments than before to follow what Zaiden then tried to ask. "Huh? Oh, OH! Yes! I got Metapod as a caterpie for my fifth birthday! He was a gift from my best friend whose big sister is a new trainer, and they caught him in their backyard themselves and gave him to me since they knew how much I love them!" Wade explained beaming, "Kakuna I have caught myself and I have gotten both to evolve too!" He added proudly. ZAIDEN KABILA Aspiring Champion
The gentle wind that carried through the route and caused the grasses to sway and the branches and leaves on the trees to rustle felt nice. It may have been easy to mistake the beige young teenager’s shuddering as a reflex to the gentle rolling breezes that would run their invisible fingers through the fur and around the hides of the Pokemon and their trainers. Instead, the memories tugged at him, their visions becoming more vivid and lively as he reflected on their past. It couldn’t have been that long ago, and yet it felt both like an eternity ago and like it had just been yesterday that all of this had happened. The Bug Catcher questioned on and Zaiden’s dark brown eyes, which had momentarily fallen on the green cocoon as he spat out thick globs of stringy goo, rose back to meet Wade’s eyes.
“I don’t know why.” He shrugged, and turned his gaze back Uroko. The furry white pinniped had become quite the mess. He pulled and tugged with his flippers as he waddled back and forth in place. The water type mammal cried out, his voice sounding like a dying siren above the canopy of trees. “Seel seel seeeelll SEEEELLL!” His flippers fidgeted, and he tried to free himself, managing to entangle himself worse the more he fought against the silky string. “Shiwa’s ok though. I think…I think meeting the Beautifly before had upset it.” He frowned, trying to piece it together.
The bright orange scaly lizard placed herself between Hageshii and Baunsu. The round brown tanuki with a cream-colored circle on its belly that created a ‘bullseye’ marking, and long, dark brown ears pushed and prodded at Kogasu’s side. The flame-tailed lizards growled, using her stubby short arms to push back against Baunsu’s thick wide arms, and the poisoned normal type relented as the poisoned pulsated within its veins. Ahh, that hurt! “Spearr! SPEARR!” The brightly colored Hageshii cawed out loudly and flapped its wings impressively. Then, they relented and slowly all settled down. Zaiden glanced over to them for a second with a raised eyebrow, concerned but happy that they were learning to calm back down.
Now back to the battle at hand… “Uroko, Headbutt once more. You’ve got this, buddy.” He smiled. His chocolate hued gaze rose back to study the lad and his large brimmed straw hat as he smiled. “He was fast....” He hummed as he witnessed just how much of a sticky mess Metapod’s string shot had caused for his Pokemon. That would end up causing Uroko handsomely in speed alone, which meant that it was another turn of the tables in Wade’s favor. “That was a good move.” He admitted with a smile. Uroko tensed, then rushed forward gladly with his horn pointed once more at Metapod.

As Uroko still struggled with the sticky web slowing him down Wade was quite confident that his Pokemon could now outlast the Seel even if his odds of winning this battle were far lower. " Thank you, that Headbutt is still pretty impressive as well. If Metapod couldn't outrun your Seel I would be very worried." Wade was also glad to hear that the Wurmple was Ok after a rather scary tale. " That is good news at least. A bird Pokemon can be very bad news for bug types especially if they get hungry." As he continued to chat Metapod noticed Uroko trying to break free of the String Shot and it gave a nasty stare at the Seel fearing it would break free. By the time Wade had noticed this Metapod had already started to hop towards Uroko trying to get the Seels attention so he could not get loose from the sticky web. Wade finally gave an order despite the futility of the act as Metapod already knew what to do. " Metapod use Tackle." Seconds later Metapod collided with Uroko causing a small amount of damage due to the super slow speed of the impact. The attack did cause Uroko to stop trying to break free from the web but in the process of getting so close Metapod had opened itself up to a nasty Headbutt causing it to slide backwards a few feet. " That Headbutt sure is powerful even with Metapod's Harden. We might need to increase your defenses again soon Metapod unless we can win the battle in the next few rounds." As optimistic as he was trying to be the battle was not going very well for him at all and as great as Metapod's defenses were they could only hold up for so long. ZAIDEN KABILA Aspiring Champion
The beige teenager gave a sigh of relief as Hageshii and Baunsu calmed down. The golden colored avian would fly down to the ground below and land beside the rotund furry brown tanuki. Hageshii pressed its feathery head up against the other Pokemon, who reached out with its thick arms and pulled the Spear into a warm embrace. The flame-tailed lizard, obviously the referee during the whole ordeal, jumped up and down excitedly and chattered happy noises. “Charmander cha!” Zaiden smiled, just as cheerfully.
“Spearow spear.” Hageshii nodded, then turned to smile at Baunsu. Baunsu coughed a bit, and then laid down and curled up into a tight ball. He coughed and twitched as he battled the poisons that were seeping through his veins. Charmander squeaked out sadly, and Hageshii turned to stare intensely into Zaiden’s chocolate brown hues. “Seeen…” Baunsu barely squeaked out, shivering despite the fact that he did not feel cold. Zaiden leaned down as he directed an order to Uroko without a glance over. “Uroko, Headbutt again.”
Then Zaiden would gently stroke Baunsu with a loose hand, before scooping the tanuki up close to his chest. “It’s gunna be ok.” The young mousey-brown haired lad cooed gently. He would help Baunsu shortly, he just needed his Pokemon to hang on just a bit longer. Zaiden bit his bottom lip with his upper row of teeth nervously. Baunsu didn’t look all too good. He would need to see a Pokecenter soon, or Zaiden would need to pull out an Antidote for his Pokemon’s sake. What’s the best thing to do? Zaiden pondered nervously, as Kogasu pulled at his pants legs and gently chattered noisily. He nodded to her, silently agreeing with her concerns.
Uroko blubbered out a merry tune. “Seel seeeel! Seel seel see!” The pinniped raised one large white flipper up into the air, then pulled it to touch his forehead just below his impressive horn. Uroko seemed to signal the usual, ‘Yes sirr’ kind of salute, before he would start charging forward once more. “Yeah, but your Kakuna’s Poison Sting is scary, too. The effects last long after the battle is over!” Zaiden commented, and shrugged down to the lump of brown fur that shivered, cuddled up against Zaiden’s chest. He had to wonder, was that what Shiwa’s Poison Sting was like? Oh, those poor wild Pokemon that had to come face-to-face to such an attack!

As worried as Wade was about his Metapod's health slowly falling he knew the bug had another round or two before Harden would become an necessity to use again and seeing Uroko in such rough shape made him quite confident the Seel would fall in defeat before his Metapod. " Metapod hang in there we are close. I know you cannot last much longer." As Metapod tried to stay as positive as it could Wade gave the order to attack again just hoping to gain any advantage he could. " Metapod use Tackle."Metapod hopped forward to deliver another Tackle attack that caused Uroko's health to drop even closer to the danger zone however the Seel was yet again able to deliver another Headbutt in return. " Metapod are you OK? You are looking really rough right now. I hope we can last one more round before trying Harden again." He said as Metapod started to show signs of being exhausted as it's eyes shut half way and cracks formed on its shell from the multiple impacts. The bug might have been battered but it was as determined as ever to at least defeat Uroko before going down. Anything else in it's current state would be a bonus as Wade finally responded to Zaiden's praise of Kakuna's Poison Sting. " That is quite true, a Pokemon caught off guard by Poison Sting can really suffer for a while afterwards. As Kakuna has not fully evolved yet it's poison is not even as potent as when it evolves into Beedrill." He said rather enthusiastically awaiting the day his Kakuna would finally evolve. ZAIDEN KABILA Aspiring Champion
The waning sun slowly crept towards the horizon line. Magnificent hues of luxurious pink shades intermixed with darker reds and brighter yellows enveloped the evening sky. Much of the sky was covered in a wash of heavy cirrocumulus clouds, there darker hues reflecting the murkier, wetter environment the young travelers had found themselves entangled in. Zaiden’s phone buzzed in his pocket as messages fired away, one after another. His eyes seemed burdened by the thousand other obligations lined up in the back of his mind. Yet here, the young lady felt as though an eternity held him, trapped, and bound during a Pokemon battle. Had it only been a couple of hours at best? Or was it much longer than that? Did time stand still amid two trainers dueling their heart out with their Pokemon?
Still, the happy-go-lucky Seel stood juxtaposed on the opposite side of the green crescent-shaped chrysalis. It teetered on its finned feet, rocking, and swaying from one side to the next. The furry white marine mammal seemed almost oblivious to the dwindling health condition. Only through momentary lapses, where the sea lion pup paused to cough and hack violently, or shiver from its fading health and zapping energy storage, gave way to its condition. Zaiden nodded firmly, his eyes carefully scanning the snowy white furred pinniped and its horned, round head nervously. Would he last another round, or should Zaiden recall him now? His eyes shifted down to the shivering mass of brown fur bundled up with its thick, bushy striped tail wrapped tightly around the outer edge of its curled body. Baunsu needed the care more, technically. Could he reasonably expect Uroko to hold the fort long enough for him to heal the other Pokemon? “Your Metapod is a trooper.” Zaiden commented, before he would gingerly place Baunsu on the ground with a gentle touch. “I know our battle has been lasting a while. But, do you mind?”
Zaiden had pulled his Backpack off his back and snatched it around to the front. He yanked the zipper apart fervently and shoved his hands into the backpack. The beige young teenager began rummaging through his supplies as though he were a starving Munchlax, desperately trying to find just the smallest of crumbs to manage on. Within minutes, the mousy-brown haired kid pulled out a small yellow medicinal spray. “I need to tend to Baunsu first, I’m not sure if he’ll hold out until the Pokecenter.” He stated. It was a gamble that Zaiden would have to take, and he knew it. Both Uroko and Baunsu looked worse for wear in that moment, but he didn’t like seeing Baunsu suffering silently from the poisons that coursed underneath the skin and through his veins.
Zaiden knew that this would cost him a round of the battle. If it meant protecting one of his Pokemon, then it was a risk he would just have to take. His eyes drifted on Uroko with a deep-seated concern and he silently pleaded with his own Pokemon. Uroko, hold out just a little longer. I’ll make sure to help you right after I help our friend. You’re doing really good out there, buddy! But his anxiety and nervous stomach didn’t let Zaiden speak his thoughts quite as freely. “Uroko, hang tight this round!” He called out, whenever he saw the white sea lion’s legs twitch as though they longed to run and skid across the open, watery ground once more.
OOC: Zaiden uses 1 Antidote. Self-updating and subtracting 1 from inventory.

Wade didn't seem as affected by the pokemon's struggle as Zaiden was, either he had less empathy or perhaps he had just seen it more often having battled before and knew how tough pokemon could be. He didn't seem to wonder why his otherwise motionless cocoon suddenly had begun to become more active but he certainly didn't complain! It had been his biggest struggle with his two pokemon after they had evolved since he had been used to run around and play with them, climbing trees and such but now they usually just lay in a corner all day and did nothing. It was rather boring, so that was his main reason to why he wanted to get them to evolve, so they could play again. Wade beamed proudly when Zaiden praised his pokemon. "I know! He is great! And with such strong shell he can last forever!" Wade boasted, his kakuna friend blinked slowly as reaction but it was hard to tell what it thought with that. "No, go ahead," Wade quickly answered with a hint of worry, he too didn't like how bad Baunsu reacted to the poison, it usually didn't look so bad when he had battled others. Not knowing what to do with his worry, Wade unconsciously decided to pretend nothing was wrong and kept going with the stuff he knew. "Metapod, we're so close to win this and we're not holding back! So go ahead and Tackle it again!" He ordered eagerly and his pokemon forced himself to jump the few feet to Uroko and tackle him by more or less just falling on top. Uroko had been paying attention to what was going on behind him or had been waiting for orders, but none came and he was unprepared as the battle continued without him being quite ready. ZAIDEN KABILA Aspiring Champion
The furry white sea lion with the stubby, thick cream-colored bulldog like snout and two large tusks protruding from his bottom lips took deep breaths of air. Its health was draining now, and the young Pokemon didn’t like the way the battle was going. Uroko turned his head around, casting a worrisome and sad look up towards Zaiden, whose heart broke at the sight of his own Pokemon’s sadness. He ruffled his unkempt mess of mousy-brown hair on his head with one hand after he gently placed Baunsu on the ground.
“You did good.” Zaiden used one hand, flipped over so that his fingers clumped together and motioned for the Seel to return back to his side. Uroko ran in a waddle-jump like state, skidding across various brackets of open muddy water puddles. A couple of times he slipped and tumbled down, but the white marine mammal would eventually roll back right-side up and run over to the young teenage trainer’s side. “Seel seeeel!” He boasted happy words of gratitude and praise to his trainer. “Gen’ie!”
Zaiden pulled out yet another red-and-white Pokeball and tossed it up into the air. A bright red beam of light shot out, taking the form of a rather strange and unsightly Pokemon. It looked like some type of floating spherical Pokemon with a large horn jutting out of its round head, covered in a glowing white cloth. Large eyes that seemed to take up nearly all of its face searched around the area. Gen’ie began to giggle gleefully, happy to have escaped that wrested Pokeball. The Pokemon wouldn’t wait on its trainer, though, and moved in swiftly to attack the small green chrysalis. A thick, dark, reddish-blackish eerie glow enveloped around the Shuppet as its eyes began to glow a bright, almost demonic red tint. Within seconds, the ghost type Pokemon would fire the reddish-black beam directly at the green chrysalis with a strange and disturbing grin.
Kogasu growled underneath her voice as she watched Zaiden call Gen’ie out of his Pokemon. “Charmander char! Char char mander! Char!” Her words were heated and spoke of how she distrusted the other Pokemon and thought he deserved to remain locked inside of his Pokeball for eternity. The small orange scaly lizard held on tiny fist up, as the flames on her tail seemed to burst and become brighter. Hageshii fanned one wing out, as Baunsu grabbed Kogasu by her other arm. “Sentret. Sen. Sent Ret Tret!” Baunsu tried to calm Kogasu and reminder her that team mates shouldn’t fight each other. He lamented, though, and agreed that he didn’t like Gen’ie all that much either. “Spearow Spear! Spearow!” Spearow tried to block her path with his wing, and reminded her that she would be a very disobedient Pokemon to interrupt her trainer’s battle. Kogasu fumed underneath, blocked and pulled back by the other two Pokemon, but oh so willing to jump in the midst and knock some more common sense into Gen’ie!
OOC: Switching out Uroko for Gen'ie, then using Night Shade.

The young bug catcher's confident eagerness quickly turned to worry as Zaiden called Uroko back to his side. The battle had went so well for him but he should have guessed that Zaiden had even more pokemon at his side, and really, with both a fire type and a flying type he really hadn't stood any chance from the beginning. The tiny little hope that flared in him, that Zaiden perhaps recalled Uroko to throw in the towel and give up Wade quickly suppressed, that was stupid. He was no little kid any more and he didn't want to be given the victory, he wanted to win it himself! "Harden up Metapod, we don't know what will come next but perhaps we can endure it!" Wade said although he sounded rather nervous, which his pokemon instantly picked up and it tensed in preparation for what would come. None of them could have prepared for Gen'ie though, both stared at the to them unknown pokemon, having no clue of what he could do. Wade had a feeling he wouldn't like it though and he was correct, Gen'ie's giggle made the boy shiver down the spine and he took a few fearful steps back as the ghost's eyes started to shine and he was clearly afraid when Gen'ie shout beams out of his eyes! Wade was young, he had probably heard some scary stories of ghosts and this was his first encounter with one. Metapod's shell was gleaming with all the hardening it had done, but it did little difference with what the ghuppet sent at it, and it simply toppled to one side. Wade held his breath but as nothing else happened he quickly recalled him pokemon and stayed in a safe distance to the ghost. He glanced a bit between him and Zaiden before he half ran over to the other trainer and sent him a nervous smile. "Thanks for the battle, I learned a lot," he rambled his cheerfulness sounding forced, and he glanced nervously at Gen'ie. "Here, this is for you winning, I have to go home now, bye!" Wade contineud quickly and thrust some money at the winning trainer before he darted away. Over the trees a yellow cloud was moving in, a closer look would reveal it to be the edge of a sandstorm which surely would have been started somewhere else since it was so humid here. It could clearly travel over the wet area though and it might or might not reach Zaiden and his pokemon. Gen'ie won without a scratch and grows to [lvl 13] He can learn Shadow Sneak if he forgets another move. Uroko did most of the work but only grows to [lvl 6] Bug Catcher Wade hands you £200 for winning the battle. (ooc: the sandstorm described is only going to be in affect if the next encounter starts within this month, it is just such a big change in weather I wanted a bit of build up )

ZAIDEN KABILA Aspiring Champion
The sandstorm’s presence spoke of its eventual arrival as it hovered in the distance. Debris spun in a thick cloud and hazed the horizon, obscuring the path ahead of them. Zaiden glanced nervously to his small bipedal orange reptile, who clung tightly to its tail as the fire lizard hopped over a rather large puddle. Kogasu waddled a bit on the tips of her feet as she steadied herself and began to slowly trek on down the route. “Charmander cha!” A command to her troops to press onward, before the dust storm closed in on them and debris was all they would be able to inhale for the foreseeable future.
Zaiden whistled as he stepped over the puddle easily. It may have been large and imposing for his Charmander, the puddle was much smaller in comparison to the larger and taller lad. It was no more of a nuisance and simply required him to step over the puddle with a slightly wider gait. “Spearow row speaaarrr!” The shiny golden feathered bird soared up high into the open air, only chased shortly after by the ghostly white apparition. “Shuppet peettt!” An almost playful call chased after, and the ghostly white Shuppet would seemingly disappear and reappear as it floated after Hageshii in an open chase to an imaginary finish line.
Zaiden sighed and placed his hand on his head. He began to shake his head in exasperation. What was he going to do with these Pokemon? They needed to face off in their first GYM battle soon, but they were a gangly sort of bunch. Would they pay attention and work in unison long enough to assure victory, or should he reconsider his strategy? He placed his fingers in a curled position in between his lips just right so that he could whistle to call them back. Kogasu stopped. The flame tailed Charmander tilted her head in confusion and slowly turned around to notice that her trainer wasn’t following behind her as diligently as she had expected. He snapped his fingers and pointed at the ground beside his feet. Kogasu rushed back to his side and craned her head to stare up at her trainer curiously so.
Zaiden began shuffling through his bag and pulled out a strange flat square shaped item that resembled a floppy disk. It had a strange, reddish-orange hue that seemed to remind Kogasu of the flames that burned brightly on her tail. Zaiden reached out and offered Kogasu the TM and watched as she snatched it from his hands and easily consumed the disk. She forgot how to growl in the conventional way that would lower her enemies’ attack and learned the powerful new attack. Kogasu’s eyes brightened up. Excited for her new move, the small lizard spat out hot flames and spun around so that the flames from her mouth and the flames from her tail would completely cloak her. She began charging wildly about as she practiced her new move. There were several instances where the flames quickly died out as she charged about, proving how new and inexperienced she still was with her newfound powers.
Zaiden pulled out a final ball and gently tapped the button. A bright red beam of light shot forward and released the small pinkish-red larvae, who cooed softly and lifted its head up high. The sun had finally set by now, bringing on darkness and night as not even the last signs of the previous day dwindled on the sky above. Only dark blue and purple hues cast their glow from the skies above, decorated with small twinkling stars and one lonesome crescent moon. “It’s your turn, good girl.” Zaiden pulled out a small piece of candy encased in a blue wrapper. He unraveled the wrapper and offered the small, dark blue candy piece to Shiwa, who hungrily gobbled it up. A bright and strange white glow would engulf the small Wurmple and long, thick white string shot out from its mouth until she was completely encased in a new shell. The new, pink cocoon with large red eyes stared silently back at Zaiden, who stared down at his Pokemon in wander and awe.
Picking up the bundle of hardened cocoon in his arms, Zaiden would set off to chase after his other Pokemon. They were quite in the lead, with even the furry round Sentret trekking fast across the open route. It was almost as if there were two races – Hageshii and Shiwa who zipped across the open night air, and Kogasu and Baunsu who ran after each other in a neck-and-neck race. While Zaiden carried Shiwa, Uroko did his best to gallop in an odd waddle after the troupe with a silly and happy, wide faced grin.
OOC: Shuppet forgets Spite and learns Shadow Sneak. Zaiden uses TM100: Flame Charge on Kogasu, who forgets Growl and learns Flame Charge. Zaiden gives one Rare Candy to Shiwa at night, who increases from LVL 6 -> LVL 7 and then should promptly evolve. Shiwa’s Ability changes to Shed Skin and she learns Harden. Looking for one last encounter before I wrap up this thread and close her off. <3 All updates have been self-updated.
